Playing with the enemy has never been so hazardous.
Like her mother, Jane Anders’ heart is on the wrong side of her chest. Her mother died. The anomaly saved Jane’s life.
It all goes back to that summer. Everyone was talking about the Surgeon General’s totally ironic heart attack and the new cult offshoot of the Christian Scientists called Nightingales. Then there was David. Jane just wanted to golf and make her mark in interior design. She didn’t and still doesn’t have time for such distractions.
When Jane’s best friend suddenly disappears and Jane loses her beloved to cardiac arrest, she wonders if there’s a connection. An 80s-obsessed chick with similar circumstances believes the Nightingales are to blame and invites Jane to join a vigilante group to wipe them out. Jane wants vengeance and to find Leslie, but can she really leave her dream job to put her putter to a different use playing secret agent ninja with someone who dresses like Madonna? It could lead her to secrets she doesn’t want to know about her mom—or worse, David.
I left the lucrative-but-boring field of accounting to pursue my dream of having superpowers, or at least writing about superpowers.
I dig surfing (even though I’m not good at it). I also greatly enjoy needlepoint. Yes, needlepoint. It’s wicked relaxing (and tremendously embarrassing to admit)! I love reading and tend to bounce from one genre to another depending on my mood. Favorite authors are Christopher Moore, Janet Evanovich, Carl Hiassen, and Christopher Paolini to name a few. I live in the great Midwest with my man, two kids, and dogs.
