The alien invaders have spread across the entire globe, and the bloodiest battles have yet to happen. As humanity struggles to adapt to an ever changing enemy, what extent will they plunge into in order to survive? How much must the world give up in order to win?
J.Z. Foster is an Urban Fantasy / Horror writer originally from Ohio. He spent several years in South Korea where he met and married his wife and together they opened an English school.
Now a first time father, he’s returned to the states - and his hometown roots.
He received the writing bug from his mother, NYTimes best selling author, Lori Foster.
J.Z. Foster is such a talented author and delivers another “OMG” book. I never know whether to put on my black funeral dress and sit with a box of tissues or wear my #1 foam finger to cheer on my favorite characters. Expect the unexpected. This book is imaginative, terrifying, funny, thought provoking, and keeps the reader glued to the story from page one. You will read it in one sitting, not because you want to, because you have to.
Again - I read this basically in one sitting. Grab a hot cup of your favorite beverage and settle in for a wild ride! Alice had many names - If you have read earlier books you already know that Alice is one Bad Babe. Beginning this latest book with her was a slam dunk, brilliant move! I love Alice! AKA The Red Bitch of Berlin! Another great book from J.Z.!
I have been a fan of the Reality Bleed series since the beginning and I can truly say these books just get better and better. Earth Siege is the 8th book to come out so far and this one is definitely a "just one more chapter" kind of book. The story moves at a fast pace with exciting take no prisoner kind of players, a bit of gruesome along with the quirky humor I love in JZ Foster's stories. Once again I reach the end of book and look forward to the next installment of this series. Earth Siege is book that can be read on its own but I would highly recommend starting with the first book Hell on Mars where you can first meet these players and you can follow along their journey as they take on the war against the aliens.
This series hooked me from book one! I began this series after reading a similar, and pretty good, one called “Call of The Void”. If sci-fi horror is your thing, this is for you. The characters, plot, and dialogue are all well done. Was I extremely entertained? Yes, and that is my main criteria. Stop reading my review, and read these novels!
DR Rat, Endo, Miles Westwood and Kevin Albrok have come together. Having reached Sergei Garen, standing grand martial, in east Germany where will they go next? Story of Zavar, another side story of horrors experienced, draws parallels to Felicity station on Mars. Coloring the horror experienced by a casual person in "Reality Bleed" universe.
"China will do as it always has done, it will see to itself." China ambassador to USA. Lei Zhao, the chairman and de facto leader of China, has changed course of the nation "Where strength fails a keen mind prevails." This time pursing quantity over quality. Cp.6 Erkin Khan, dragon of China. Han chinese oppression of other ethnicities. Sinicization politics. 5 years of "re-education". "He would obey, but he would not break!" "Why continue to live and dig holes?" "Chinese commandments of citizenship: There is not many there is one. One nation, one goal. Our integrity is unbreakable. We stand against our enemies, a unified people. For the glory of our people, for the glory of China. We will not fail!" all the while a person is dying a torturous death and screaming to have his misery ended quickly. Cp.26., "The death of one god, birth of another." Whatever happens to China, it has brought it on itself! Unfortunate, prediction, that it will spiral to negatively affect regional neighbors and world at wide.
Iran cp.12, 18., 21. "Those strong enough to break the eggs first. Typically savaged the others." "The brood would die so the strongest would survive." Arab archon was not strong, but he was wise. Will arab archon have set precautions in the hive mind to help Alice or to have transferred spark of divinity to little Eli John Winters, enabling him to become humanity's archon?
Conclusion: 4/5. Listened on Audible bought for 1 credit. Narrated by: Tom Taylorson. Audible sells Reality Bleed: Season 2 (book 5 - 8), for one credit, the length of the book and the quality of the story, an amazing purchase. "It's sad that all it takes for us is money" - Rolls. He sniffed out the spy masterfully. What a twist! In retrospective McAndrews, John Winters chief of staff, actions have been to question his decision throughout. "Pursuit of the least amount of misery." what a doom and gloom way to look at world. Quite like the utilitarian "greatest happiness for the greatest number" but formulated in the opposite, as aim to eliminate misery, not to multiply happiness. Morat "Eat shit fat beef!" my favorite catch phrase. Terrible value for the length of the book - 1.67 $/hour ( 11.20 $ / 06 hrs 42 mins ).
Just finished Reality Bleed season #2 on Audible, which includes books #5-8. In my opinion, the first season (#1-4) is much better for the theme, setting and story. The events on the Felicity Station at the beginning of book #1 fit perfect with the survival horror, sci-fi feel with the threat of an otherworldly alien presence. Sure, the action scenes are a bit lacking and cheesy, but it hit the tone of what the author was trying to accomplish.
I can't say the same for the second season. It felt too big of an undertaking and there were many times were the subplots couldn't hold my interest. The story also becomes very predictable once the Kronux are revealed and the main characters established. I was only really interested in the Kronux and they were introduced so early on that it took all the wonder and excitement away throughout the last few books. I did enjoy the last 3 hours of Earth Siege (on Audible), but the rest is pretty forgettable. As a side note, the narrator is fantastic and is the main reason why the score is 3-stars. Listen on Audible if you want to try it out.
OK, I'm the gal who somehow ended up as the editor for this series. Because of this, I get to ride the insane tidal wave that is publishing eight books in, what? A year and a half? It's not like JZ Foster (and Justin Woodward) sat down, wrote 12 books, then slowly released them a few months at a time. No, he's churning them out as quickly as he can.
I'm amazed to watch Foster balance so many characters, storylines, and twists at this breakneck speed. He brings the tension and the gore along with some solid character building. I'm still mad about a certain twist in Book 1, and I'll never let that go. But for now, it continues to be a fascinating ride.
So, the bloody carnage continues, and the aliens breach the beaches of America. Have they lost their most effective weapon? Is humanity doomed? Find out in the next exciting episode of Reality Bleed.
Excellent next chapter in this epic series. The Cronux are on earth and causing all kinds of hell. I already have book 9 and preordered 10. Can't wait to see what happens next.
4.5 stars. I love that the environment changed from Mars to Earth. Still had monster things they had to fight but I loved the difference in environment.
