King Family Romance #1

Tempting a King

Rate this book
Raising a child alone in a small town doesn’t leave much time for dating. At least, that’s what I tell myself when I wonder why I’m still single nearly a decade after my divorce. It has nothing to do with the massive crush I’ve had on my boss for years. Nothing whatsoever. Never mind that Finn King is the one man in this town who’s ever caught my eye.
He’s also the one man in town who’s totally off-limits.

There’s no way I can hook up with my boss. I might be single, boring, and borderline desperate, but that’s a line I won’t cross. Not that Finn has ever given me any indication that he’s interested. He keeps things professional, no matter how much I might wish otherwise.

So, when a hot, single guest at the inn where I work starts flirting with me, I figure there’s no harm in flirting back. I know nothing will come of it. It’s just a little harmless teasing. The last thing I expect is Finn’s sudden anger. I’ve never seen him like this. If I didn’t know better, I’d say he’s jealous.

But that can’t be right. I must be imagining things. Seeing what I want to see. Right?

But when Finn pulls me into his office one night, I know I’m not imagining the look in his eyes or his surprising confession.

Did I say I wouldn’t cross that line?

This was a fun book to read. Family is everything. This is a story about, a young college boy. who upon his parent’s death, takes on the duty of raising his four siblings. All of them, at the age of twenty-one.

The youngest is Claire, the artist, and singer, who performs at her twin brothers’ bar & grill, who is now twenty-seven, then the twin brothers, Wyatt and Van owners of a bar & grill, Mack’s. And second to the oldest Ronan, a cop. He parented well.

Finn continued to run the inn, his parent's owned. He has made it grow and thrive into the place have an event as big as a destination wedding or as quaint as a tea party for four. All were treated equally the same. Thanks to the manager he hired seven years ago. Hannah came to him as a newly divorced single mother with nowhere to live. Her son, Liam was only an infant, so took a chance. Although he didn't need the help, giving her a maid service job, where he allowed her to bring, Liam to work. Finn also helped care for him, he allowed her and Liam to live in a cottage on the inn property, for free.

Without either realizing it, not only did a friendship grow but so much more. At the seven-year itch, where most people want to get away from each other, these two were being drawn even closer, Now, what to do with those emotions, and not break the rules or their friendship.

Loved this book, the dynamics of the couple, along with their sexual energy you feel right off the bat. I love the bond the siblings hold willingly, over a decade out from their parent's death. How all the younger siblings truly worry about, Finn's happiness. Yup! Good book.

Hallmark sweet with a bit of 🔥🔥

This one definitely reads like a Hallmark movie, with the addition of some 🔥🔥. This is the first book in the King Family series, and it involves the eldest King sibling Finn and single mom Hannah. Her husband gave her divorce papers and signed away his rights two months after their son is born, because she wasn’t of the right social standing for their family. For the past seven years she has worked for Finn and they have been friends, but each harbors a quiet secret attraction for the other. Everything is status quo until she finally decides it may be time to start dating, and Finn suddenly feels raging jealousy when he sees someone else express interest.

The rest of the story is these two moving from friends to more, and trying to navigate that change. After 7 years, I shook my head when she questioned if things were “moving too fast”. The only people surprised by their relationship were the two of them 😂. He’s very close with his family, so we get to meet each of the siblings that will have stories in the following books. There’s no third act break up, which I appreciated. Unfortunately it was replaced with an oddly out of place appearance by the ex that has been gone for 8 years , and only popped up to be a weird conflict very briefly. He should’ve just been left out. But it is what it is. Lots of Hallmark swoon, some sweet family moments, and plenty of steam.

This book was absolutely incredible. Start the Kings Family Romance series TODAY. I literally picked this book up and read it cover to cover with only brief pauses because I was so lost in this story.

In this book you will me Finn and Hannah. Finn loses his parents tragically. As the oldest of 5, he steps up to take care of his family, as well as taking over the family B&B his parents ran. He has done little for himself trying to ensure that his siblings were all taken care of.

Seven years ago, Hannah walked into the B&B in need of a job. She was a single mother to Liam. Her husband asked for a divorce and to terminate his parental rights all in one sitting. Finn offered her a job. In an attempt to show him that he would not regret hiring her, she worked really hard and eventually became manager of the B&B, helping with just about everything the place offers.

Seven years Hannah and Finn have been friends. Both secretly wanting the other, but neither brave enough to admit it to themselves or anyone else. But every thing is going to change when the best man from the current wedding party occupying the B&B sets his sights on Hannah. Why wouldn't he? She's gorgeous, and single. Finn is finding it very hard to keep his jealousy hidden. During an pre-wedding event, something is going to happen and push Finn to his breaking point.

Finn knows that Hannah is a package deal and he loves Liam. He's been there almost from the beginning. He also knows that no part of him wants to lose her. It's time to man up and admit it or step out of the way and let her be happy. So what will it be?

When I tell you the way I flipped these page!!! These characters are so relatable and this story could be anyone's story. You see this family atmosphere with the Kings and you can't help but want to be a part of it. Found family, friends-to-lovers, and a bit of spice. I highly recommend this book.

Hope you enjoy! Happy Reading Ya'll!

Finnegan King is the sexiest man in town, maybe the state. I can’t be sure. I don’t get out all that much. I’m certain he’s in the top 5 at least. He’s the only man I’ve been remotely interested in since my ex-husband left me and our infant son in this town 8 years ago, never to be heard from again. Unfortunately for me, Finn’s also my boss and one of my closest friends. Which means he’s off-limits. Even if I were willing to cross that line (which I’m totally, absolutely not), there’s no way Finn ever would. He’s known for being dependable, predictable, reliable. He’s never once shown a hint of interest in me beyond professionalism and friendship. Not that I want him to. Because as I said, he’s off-limits. I might be single, boring and borderline desperate, but I won’t make a move on my boss. No matter how hot he is. When a guest at the B&B spends his stay flirting with me, I’m flattered, but not interested. When it happens in front of Finn, I’m shocked to see a flash of unexpected anger from my normally calm boss. If I didn’t know better, I’d say he was jealous. But that can’t be. Can it? One night in Finn’s office, he stuns me with a confession. I’m not strong enough to turn away from the need I see in his eyes. Did I say I wouldn’t cross that line? Whoops. Can two friends find a way to be more without ruining what we have? What happens when we give into temptation?

Oh my goodness, I've officially fallen in love with small town romances. This book was so freaking adorable and cute and made me so happy! I was worried at first reading a romance book about a single mom but the author did this one beautifully. No reductionist stereotypes we normally see were present and I'm so grateful for that.

Tempting a King is the story of Hannah, a single divorced mom, who works at the Jester, a small town B&B owned and run by Finnegan King, the eldest of the King siblings, who has become her friend over the past 7 years and is also hot as hell. Hannah has feelings for Finn, or at least she would if she didn't bury them down deep for the past 7 years, because he's her boss and friend and she can't cross that line...can she? What Hannah doesn't seem to notice is that Finn is having the exact same problem as her....but when he sees a guest flirting with her one too many times...the leash of his control snaps and he makes a decision that's either the best...or worst he's ever made.

A very sweet story. Almost a girl-meets-boy type, except the girl has known the boy for seven years. It reminded me of a Hallmark movie, if Hallmark movies had X-rated scenes. Virtually the only thing I didn’t like about it was the author’s propensity for typing numbers instead of spelling them out. The general rule of thumb is that you are supposed to write out any number less than 10, but I think books fall into a category: write out any numbers less than 100, unless it’s an address or phone number or something of that nature. Seeing so many sentences broken up with 2 or 7, etc. was distracting. Didn’t impact my rating, but I’m not racing to pick up the next book because it was enough of a nitpick that I don’t want to see it on every other page of the next book I read. Still, I appreciate a good romance and this was a nice one.

What a great read! Ticked all boxes for me - neither too long nor too short, boss-employee/friends to lovers story, cute kid, tight-knit family, small town, steamy scenes, some tension but not overly dramatic. And all this with a good pace. Win win! ;)
Can't wait to read about all the other King siblings!

Awww romance

I really enjoyed this one, the fact they liked each other from a distance for years, I love these kind of stories, I don't think I have read this author before, the name does not sound familiar but I can safely say I will definitely be reading others by her, well worth reading.

I felt like nothing was happening, and skipped many pages hoping the story would take off. The ex's return could have had more substance. Writing style warm and smooth, the story just doesn't suit me. This is of course personal, so be sure to check out the other reviews.

Hannah and Finn

Hannah had worked for Finn for 7 years, since Liam was a baby. They both have developed feelings for each other, but haven't acted on them. Hannah manages Finn's B&B, plus coordinates all the wedding and parties.

Loved all the characters

I blew through this book in a few hours and now I’m excited to read the others in the series, plus the additional book on character Luke Wolf. Just enough spice in this book to keep you sweating 🔥

Sweet, warm, easy read - not a lot of angst or hurdles, which I love in a book. Because of that, the spice was surprisingly spicing! Love her writing style - just not so much this storyline. The epilog sounds promising, may have to check that out.

Good read

Quick paced, will they won't they.
The typical big bad in the plot didn't last very long and was kind of a non issue really, would have liked more on that.

Those King Men

I tend to read a lot of dark books. So I go looking for lighter reads, and Isla is a go-to for me. Now on to the next book because what's up with Quinn??!

This was such a wonderful friends to lovers story! The writing was excellent, it flowed so easily I binged it in two days! Would have been faster if life didn’t get in my way! The steamy bits were hot, as well! I love the King family dynamic and the two MCs were superb and believable! I needed something with lower angst but lots of feels and this book delivered! Can’t wait for the next!
