I’m a survivor. I’ve never let myself be helpless. Except when it comes to the prince of snakes.
On Protheka, your freedom can be snatched at a moment’s notice. When I’m ripped from the alleys of Liiandor, I think my miserable life is going to turn into pure hell once I’m sold to the snakes of Nagaland.
I never expected it would be my salvation.
Who knew a naga prince could be so gentle? Nashaer has given me a life I could only imagine.
Food. Freedom. Safety. Even love.
I have no way to repay him. But there's only one thing he wants. Something so bruised and battered I don’t know why he’d even accept it if I gave it.
Celeste King is the author behind the Worlds of Protheka, a collection of interconnected series that promise dark fantasy, intense romance, and washboard abs. When it comes to her stories, there are sure to brooding alphas, sassy humans, and plenty of spice to look forward to.
With the ever growing fantasy worlds, the 'what ifs' are endless, and that is what excites her the most. Even she doesn't know just how far these characters will go, but she's gladly along for the ride.
You can always find her fearlessly diving into an adventure (in this world or another), typically with her husband, and partner in crime, at her side.
She helps keep the excitement alive for the rest us with each of her Prothekan works, where there are no heroes coming to save you and being kidnapped...isn't so bad when your captor is this hot.
This love story has all the ups and downs. Fara is snatched from her far from cushy life and taken to be auctioned off at the palace in Nagaland. She has been on her own for most of her life and, since humans are treated as slave and worse on Protheka, that has meant stealing to ensure the basic necessities. She can't believe the other human women seem to be OK with their subservient fate as they are being sold. She is grabbed right off the stage by a man who presents her to his brother as a present. Of course, said brother is then expected to pay for her which he proceeds to do. Thrown over the man's shoulder and carried from the room, she can't believe she was just purchased by a prince. But the strange part is, he treats her with kindness and restraint. He says he wants her trust. Nope, she isn't falling for that. She is going to just bide her time until she can escape.
Nashaer is one of the king's many sons, all with different mothers, and is currently favored to be the next king. His mother is the one with all the ambition, Nashaer just goes along with whatever she says. His brothers have no love for him, or each other, and when one of them dumps a human woman in his lap, his first thought is to dump her back out. But then he looks into her eyes and knows, without a doubt, that she is his mate. Now what does he do? Though human women are used as servants and sexual pets, they are not considered mate material, quite the opposite. His mother is not going to like this at all. Of course, Fara doesn't seem to be too keen on sticking around, anyway. He makes the decision to get her out of the palace and take her to his lands in the north where he can try to earn her trust and her love. But even if that works, it is not going to solve all his problems. He will still have his parents to contend with.
Every story I've read lately always seems to start with the MMC engaging in intercourse with OW (plural), with the most descriptive sex scenes. I don't understand the reason for that, as it has virtually nothing to do with the plot. It's so hard for me to move past and enjoy any "romance" between the H and h, when all I can do is compare the sex scenes between the other women and his supposed fated mate. I wish Fara had been paired with a better male, definitely would have made for a better read.
Protheka needs good guys! Humans are treated as things and abused horribly. Poor Fara, the heroine, is whipped twice, almost raped twice, her whole life is about abuse and hunger…. This is totally not the book for me. If I didn’t believe authors deserve at least a three for their book - one star would be my rating.
Wow this book was amazing and I loved that two different classes because 1 is a prince and the other is a human and is considered a pet not a mate but they came together against the odds. Fara is a thief and a human living on Protheka where they are considered as slaves and pets and now she is to be auctioned off and when she is grabbed off the stage and dumped in others man’s lap who picks her up and by throwing her over his shoulders and walks away. Nashaer is a prince and is favored by the king to be the next to rule but his brothers hate him but also each other each other now he is at the markets with one of his brothers when he grabs a human female off the auction block and dumps her in his lap his first thought was to send her back until he looks into her eyes and sees his fated mate and takes her away to his home all the while trying to figure out how his parents will react to a human as his mate and not a slave or pet. How does it all turn out will his Mother Except Fara as his mate and what will his brothers think and what surprise help do they get. There is so much more to book that my review doesn’t give it justice but you can’t give it all away. Brilliant book.

Fara has always done all she could to stay alive since ending up alone at the age of 10 but she refused to follow the path that her mother took. She will beg, borrow, steal but she will not sell her body. Unfortunately she was caught when she last tried to steal some food and all that did was win her some time in the stocks followed by a one-way trip to Nagaland. She is pushed on the auction stage and from there straight onto the lap of one of the priviledged louts sat around it. Or so she thought. It turns out that the entitled lap belonged to a prince no less and he seems rather intent on kepping her. She is not a possession and nor does she trust his words. She'll play along for now and see where that gets her. Nashaer is numb to his entire existence. He has been pushed, prodded and moulded into the male his mother wanted. What she wants is for him to become the favourite and become the King. He doesn't really have an opinion on it but he is desperately unhappy. He copes by disassociating with most things it seems. He is out with his brothers when a human with burning green eyes lands in his lap. He can barely function from that moment on. She is his mate and she has brought him to life. What kind of life is though when she will not trust him. What can he do to show her he means what he says?
I loved this book. I was captivated from the start and couldn't put it down. Great world building and wonderful characters. Fara is a thief who steals food to survive, but one day was caught by the dark elves and sold to Nagaland. Nashaer is a prince, one of many brothers to different mothers but is favored by the king and in line to possibly rule one day. His mother's schemes and plots have conditioned and prepared him for his father's favor and to hopefully one day rule, but he himself has little interest and tires of the politics. His brother gifts him a human woman, who are fit for pets and no more. But the moment he looks into Fara's eyes, he knows she is his mate. His mother would never approve and Fara herself rejects him. He takes her away from the palace to his own lands and endeavors to win her heart. But even if she accepts him, for a royal to choose a human as his mate will have consequences. I really enjoyed this book and can't wait until the next in this series. 5 stars.
Harlekynka. Ona vyrostla na ulici, on v kralovskem palaci. Ona mu zpocatku neveri a chce svou svobodu, nicmene v Naga zemi by bez ochrany neprezila ani tri minuty, takze se mu musi chte nechte sverit do pece. Vireni mysli, kdy se ustavicne sladce vyjadruji obavy a city k druhemu. Zatimco on ji touzi vlastnit od pocatku, jeji zabrany chvili trvaji ale take rychle padaji. Preslazene se spoustou myslenkovych procesu.
Hunger has driven MFC Fara to an act of food theft that soon has her captured by Dark Elves Soldiers and sold off as punishment to Nagaland. Once there she resists being paraded around a stage to be auctioned off to the highest bidder and in the struggle falls into the lap of third in line to the throne Prince Nashaer whose there at his father’s bidding. Nashaer takes one look at Fara and knows he has found his mate and the female who will quite his restless soul. Their story is an exciting, intense, passionately written read as the prince has to navigate the forces that would separate them as he navigates earning Fara’s trust and love. This was another hot and steamy Protheka story that lights up the pages as they fly by!

Nashaer (H), a Naga prince, is at a slave auction when he sees Fara (h) and is drawn to buy her when he realizes that the human is his mate. He's attracted to her and wants to make her his, but only if she desires him in return. Seeking to protect her from palace dangers, Nashaer takes Fara to his home in his own territory where they can take time getting to know one another and where he can convince her that she is his mate. But threats to their relationship continue and Nashaer will have to choose between his future as king or a future with Fara. Definitely some very hot and intense sexy action - special eggplant makes things spicier. Great third book in the series. Love the Nagas!
Another enjoyable story in this series that I devoured reading. This story is about Prince Nashaer and Fara. Fara lives on the streets of Liiandor. Hungry, Fara steals food from a restaurant and gets caught and whipped for her crime and then sold. Fara ends in Nagaland where she's put on a stage to be bid on. Nashaer and his brothers are drinking where Valore goes on stage and drags Fara toward Nashaer where she trips on his lap. What happens between them is an engaging slightly dark romance (I've read very dark romance stories). I volunteer to read and review this ARC that I received via Booksprout.
I am reading the series and related book. This book has the main couple of Nashaer and Fara. I like that we get the background of the characters up front. Nashaer is a prince and his mom is dedicated to him being King one day. Although that goal is looking less and less attractive to Nashaer. Then at a party - auction, a human female named Fara was accidentally pushed into his lap. Nashaer wanted to push the female away but he started having feelings for Fara right sways. Read On!
Fara is a survivor and avoided slavery but her luck finally ran out when she was captured and sold. Prince Nashaer has been groomed since birth for the throne and learned to hide his emotions. Meeting his mate should be a joyous affair but he did not expect her to be human. With her trust issues, would she let her guard down enough to be cherished? It was a good read.

Nashaer tops the other Naga's before him. The title of this book says it all. His love for his mate is everything. Just when I feel everything is all right, the King stirs the water. I wonder what would happen next for the Nagas.

A thief just trying to survive, Fara is caught, and sold to the Naga. Nashaer is a prince and a favourite of the King’s. The two of them together are complete opposites, but fate has plans. I thought it was just beautiful the way Nashaer fell so completely for Fara, and I enjoyed Fara’s journey to loved as well. An entertaining read.
Celeste King has a wonderful way of writing about the fated mate and their feelings for one another. But in all of the books I’ve read about fated mates a point is always made that the human females don’t understand the feelings involved. But they do understand because they have the same feelings. Maybe not as intense as the males but it’s there.
Meeting Nashaer at the end of book 2, I thought I'd have to expect a real jerk of a character. But it seems that after keeping up appearances, he's a real softie, just like our other lead nagas.
As usual, an exciting read and amazing to see the work put in for the nagas to woo their human women.
I like your Naga's of Protheka series a lot and enjoyed you happy ever endings ❤ 😀 ♥ 😄 The one thing I would like to see is; women be treated better not like trash, but little more like human beings. Why do they always have to be the worse for them? Why?
I thoroughly enjoy the interaction and sparks between the characters. I really love how these women soften the Alpha side of these Naga Men. I recommend reading this series in its entirety. You won't be disappointed.
A great read! No one would guess just how much a thief and a prince might have in common, but Fara and Nashere have deeply rooted troubled childhoods that help to cement their bond. This is my first of the Naga series, but certainly not my last.
Intense emotional love story of a abuse woman and a prince who falls in love with her, the family drama, letting go of the past, and a new future build on love, respect, and family. Thank you for sharing another amazing read❤❤❤
