The book is informative in demonstrating storytelling in the most analytical way. This is very useful went it comes to making stories beyond just writing, but in other forms of storytelling, like presentations, videos ,etc.

However, I felt that my experience reading this book has been rather mediocre, due to the fact that I could not relate to some of the more prominent books that I have yet to read. There are a lot of references that the author makes to make his point.

Still, I did get something out of it, and I could apply directly to it! I would recommend it if you want to analyze stories.

This is a deep dive analysis into the story framework of “The Hobbit.” It’s a psychological analysis based on the essential human needs and the monomyth. It’s a bit on the theoretical side as Coyne desires not only to show how the story works but why the story works.
