I've read a number of Holmberg's books, and while there are often some issues and he tends to be a little repetitive with his characterizations, the stories are solid and entertaining.
This one, though, is riddled with so many quality issues that it borders on unreadable at times. There's an entire section at the beginning of the climax where it's like he completely forgot to mention a key event, and the whole thing makes no sense. I actually went back several times convinced I had missed a page.
He's in serious need of a competent editor. I know he can do better, so it's disappointing.
In general like the Dark Sorcerer series better than Chainbreaker series because it's not as much tortured existential complexity. But for some reason, although there were a couple mysteries and hidden twists, this sequel seemed shallow. Maybe it was the fact that were no real emotional ties or questions. Even the late issue with Eva seemed pretty out of the blue and handled very analytically.
Well written and a great pace and thrilling another great book in the dark sorcerer series and to and great addition to the world d.k. holmberg has created the already reads such as the first of the blade And the chain breaker series are must reads if you've enjoyed this series thus far
While I enjoy a good fantasy novel, the author needs to find better proof readers. There are times where I couldn't follow the story due to erroneous words or missing words.
