Ester lives a simple enough life as a waitress at a truck stop diner, plopped in middle-of-nowhere Minnesota. Her days aren’t boring necessarily . It’s just that they’re one all the same. She doesn't question life very often. She doesn't question anything at all, actually.
…Until the mysterious regular at booth sixteen starts asking.
TW: death and suicide This is a dark novella about redemption and second chances. The story takes place in a diner in Minnesota, that reminded me of the one from the Fargo tv series. Esther is a waitress with a dark past and issues that need to be resolved. When her shift changes and she meets the customer at table 16, things get really strange.. He's frustrating and says things that make no sense... As you keep reading it will make sense...(not spoiling anything) It's a quick read, but a dark one. This was originally a fic from A03.
I enjoyed the full tail of this story, the mystery behind both William & Ester captured my attention. Chaney Banett does a wonderful job painting a full picture for the reader while pondering over the characters and anxiously wondering where the story is going. I look forward to reading more mind blogging tales in the future!
Beautiful beautiful beautiful. This novella is so hauntingly gorgeous. I love seeing how Chaney built on the OG. Also I’ll always fangirl how I’m in the acknowledgement’s. I love Ester and William so much!!
A very cleverly written novella. I loved the sci fi/mysterious elements. Her day never changes. The mysterious stranger. People come and go but she never leaves. It left me happily guessing what was happening and trying to find the clues. The ending is open ended but very satisfying. Enjoyed it.
I regret wasting my time on this. It began promisingly enough but never made much sense to me. Ended badly. Yeah, I get what this was about but at the same time I don't GET it. Writing was nice and interesting. I guess it's the concept I don't like. Too weird.
