3 - 3.75 stars

The Satyr’s Sin - Ophelia Bell - 3 stars

Nemea is at the St. George School of Art to find out what elemental power she possesses and to find herself…not a mate. But things don’t end up going to plan and she summons Pan to her. Luckily, he can give her the answers she wants but then someone else enters the mix. This was interesting and has a lot of potential. It was steamy. I mostly just didn’t understand what was happening. MF/MFM. Ends on a cliffhanger.

Myra’s Monster - Leslie Chase - 3.5 stars

Myra ends up on a living space ship and encounters Monster. Off the wall romance with a HFN. Cute and steamy. Enjoyed it.

Rutted by The Raptor - V.T. Bonds - 3.5 stars

The title will tell you everything 😂. This was weird and there wasn’t much dialogue. Just f*cking and knotting. But I was entertained!!! Complete with a HEA.

Monster’s Prey - Leann Ryans - 3.5 stars

Nala wanders into the woods and happens upon Av’dag. Nala is going into heat and despite not wanting another mate, she runs and Av’dag gives chase. He takes her back to his cave/clan with full intent to cement their bond. This is an Omegaverse, ends on a HEA, and it’s steamy! Pretty good.

Demon by Night - Godiva Glenn - 4.5 stars

Alyssa and Drastos have chemistry and when he doesn’t pursue her after a date, Alyssa is desperate to know why. He simply says they’re not meant to be. Later he shows up to claim Alyssa and he isn’t human Drastos. Demon Drastos is so much dirtier and kinkier. This ends on a HEA and is super steamy and fun.

Abducted - Cass Alex - 3 stars

Luna and Gr’ruuf are from different worlds but somehow they make it work. This was a weird one for me personally lol. But entertaining nonetheless. Kind of a cliffhanger/HFN.

The Orc in My Closet - Cara Wylde- 3 stars

Don’t know what it is about orcs recently but they’re hot (NOT the LOTR ones though). Heather buys a castle and finds a portal. Hulgan the Orc emerges and they go at it. Soulmates…they keep coming back to each other. This was fine. Could have used some more development and the different language trope is not my favorite. HFN.

The Tiger and the Swan - Cassie Alexander - 2.5 - 3 stars

Namir the tiger shifter helps Lily the swan maiden get her feathers back so she can’t be controlled. In the process they discover they’re mates. I really didn’t like Lily. HFN.

Full Moon Heat - Chloe Parker - 4 stars

Charlotte wants Elijah to claim her with his bite but Elijah won’t. Don’t worry he has his reason. When Charlotte brings out the primal in him, all bets are off though. Steamy and cute with a HFN. I wanted more.

The Governess and the Wolf - Hannah Haze - 4.5 stars

Miss Samuels (Sarah) the governess runs into Mr. Edwards (Randolf) but he isn’t what he seems. This was hot AF. Big fan of this one. HFN/HEA.

Wild Berry Wine - Layla Fae - 4.5 stars

Jane goes with a friend to the Revel, a place that runs on magic. Here she meets Pan and mischief ensues. This was actually kind of funny and I really enjoyed the dialogue and development for how short it was. Pan has some tricks up his sleeve and the steam was really hot. HFN.

The Naga’s Faerie Mate - Elizabeth Austin - 4 stars

Niksha, the youngest son of the Naga king, sees things differently. Tallulah finds herself in Naga territory and runs into Niksha who “kidnaps” her. Fated mates or not, Niksha would have to work for Tallulah’s affection. This was kinky and hot and fun. HFN.

The Boon - Jocelyn Montana - 4.5 stars

Devon doesn’t like her lot in life and awakens Rerek the Harvester, God of Chaos. She needs something from him and he needs her. Will fated mates find their way back to each other.

”I own the power of fire. I’ve scorched entire forests to the ground. Yet the hottest I’ve ever burned is for you.”

Ends on a cliffhanger. AAAACKKK.

Not my favorite short story collection ad it felt pretty much just smut with out much build up or at least not enough to me. But I liked that I got to read a few different kind of monster romance I've never read before and different kinds of bodies. My favorite was by Cass Alex as it was a continued alien story from another collection but with a different couple. It felt the most fleshed out and intruiging.

A collection of thirteen high heat erotic tales for monster lovers of all flavors – naga, aliens, satyr, demons, dino-hybrids, lycans, orcs and more. The authors of these stories deliver a monstrously hot good time.

The Satyr’s Sin by Ophelia Bell
Nemea a human hybrid struggles to unleash her latent magical abilities until she starts thinking about what she’s been missing in her life. After finding an unusual rock her creative abilities start to take physical form and before she knows it, Nemea summons a satyr.

Myra’s Monster by Leslie Chase
Myra’s spaceship is falling apart and she’s indebted to monsters when she stumbles upon a seemingly abandoned spaceship from an ancient civilization. As Myra explores the ship she finds herself in awe of what she sees and the ancient being who’s still aboard the ship.

Rutted by the Raptor by V.T. Bonds
Kope, an omega human, is exiled to a planet of dinosaurs where she’s running for her life until an alpha raptor-human hybrid scents her and claims her as his.

Monster’s Prey by Leann Ryans
Nala, an omega widow, ventures into the woods and is in danger from a bear when monstrous Av’dag comes to the rescue. The alpha scents her and carries her off to his cave.

Demon by Night by Godiva Glen
Alyssa has been crushing on reference librarian Drastos for years and finally gets him to agree to a date, after which he ghosts her. She pushes him for more and she gets more when a red, horned demon shows up in her bedroom.

Abducted by Cass Alex
Luna arrives to her new outpost position ready to study one of the species and finds herself studying Gr’ruuf, and his dog-like humanoid tribe up close and personal when he throws her over his shoulder. They may have communication issues but Gr’ruuf knows she’s his mate.

The Orc In My Closet by Cara Wylde
Heather uses her divorce settlement to buy a castle, unaware that her new bedroom includes a wardrobe with a portal that brings Hulgan, an orc-like being, to her late at night. They might not speak the same language, but tongues, mouths and bodies know what to do.

The Tiger and the Swan by Cassie Alexander
Swan maiden Lily is attracted to tiger shifter Namir and finds herself turning to him for help when her most important possession is stolen. But Lily isn’t going to sit back and let Namir have all the action, after all she’s a swan and they can be dangerous when they need to.

Full Moon Heat by Chloe Parker
Charlotte, an omega human-lycan hybrid, desperately wants lycan alpha Elijah to bite and claim her, but he keeps holding back. She hopes that she’ll get what she desires if she can induce him to chase her through the woods on a full moon during her heat.

The Governess and the Wolf by Hannah Haze
Miss Samuels, governess to the children of a lord and lady, seems to be encountering a wolf – a glimpse of eyes and fur, a child’s drawing, dreams and more. The lord’s brother, Mr. Edwards, warns her to stay indoors after dark, and when she fails to heed his warning, she encounters his wolfish side.

Wild Berry Wine by Layla Fae
Jane accompanies her friend to the Revel and quickly find herself on her own trying to navigate the magical goings on. She draws the attention of a satyr, Pan, god of music and fertility, who wants to share the Revel with her and make music together with the help of his wild berry wine.

The Naga's Faerie Mate by Elizabeth Austin
Niksha is unlike his Naga brethren and longs for a life of happiness with a mate of his own. He dreams of a mate unlike any Naga females yet he’s always tormented that he can’t see her face, until he comes to the rescue of Tallulah, a faerie lost in the Naga realm, and he realizes he’s found his mate.

The Boon by Jocelyn Montana
Devon is deceived into consuming a drink that will transform her into a harpy, thwarting her desire to escape the underworld. She accidentally frees Rerek, god of chaos, from his sealed imprisonment and now must outwit him to grant her a boon, not becoming a harpy, or risk becoming his mindless thrall. Devon will have to decide if she wants Rerek to deliver his special cure to save her or not.

The Tiger and the Swan - 3.5 stars. It's a short story available as an audiobook on Youtube. In general, it was enjoyable, but there were some issues that make me think the author internalizes some stuff.

The hero is about to get intimate with the heroine and then learns that she is a virgin. He makes a point about needing to wait for her, be gentle, etc. I have no problem with those actions, but I do have a problem with the idea that a woman only needs care or gentleness when she is inexperienced. Like, once she's no longer a virgin, she no longer needs this kind of consideration!?

It's not a huge issue in this story, but it just is such an annoying thread through so many romance novels.

The other thing is how she goes to rescue on her own. She doesn't trust him not to take advantage of her or allow her to be strong enough to be part of her own rescue.

You know how you have a feeling about certain romantic couples that won't be happy together? This couple definitely gives me that feeling.

Fabulous!!

I do not know all of the authors who participated in this book, but I am a huge fan of Layla Fae and Ophelia Bell, so I got this book. I loved the Layla Fae story, and this review is for that story. It was a fun and erotic story that leapt into the realm of fantasy, with a touch of humor, lust and the unimaginable, but fulfilling experience that changes everything. Pan’s magical flute, how cool was that!
*** I have read the entire book. I loved each and every story, and have found a few more new to me authors whose work I will read and enjoy. Fantastic arrangement of stories!!***

Review for stories as listed:

Monster’s Prey by Leann Ryans
5 stars

Nala, the female omega lead, is approaching her first full heat since her mate died. Her brother has organised an alpha for her but she doesn’t like or trust him. Savouring her last days of freedom, she wanders the forest and Av’Dag, the male alpha lead, saves her from a diseased bear before stealing her away and claiming her. Feeling comfortable with him in a way that she doesn’t with any other alpha, she happily returns the claim…

This short story is dual POV, well written and edited, and a great piece of work - how this contained a full introduction, claim, and emotional connection in such a short piece of work is a true example of craft. I’m really enjoying this world and hoping the author will start writing longer stories in it!

Abducted by Cass Alex
4.5 stars

Luna, the female human lead, has come to a new planet to learn about some of the native species. Gr’ruuff, the male alien lead, has been interested in the new species visiting his planet and disturbing his people. He wants to make connections with the other species on his planet and sees the new visitors as helpful. Then he recognises his mate in Luna. Now he just needs to convince her…

This short story is dual POV, well written, and a sweet and steamy romance. Both lead characters were genuinely sweet and kind. I enjoyed Luna’s naïveté and appreciated secondary character integration to assist her. I enjoyed Gr’ruuf’s focus and his attempts to care for and protect her. I enjoyed the community development, even through the language barrier. It was a fun happy read.

Full Moon Heat by Chloe Parker
4.25 stars

Elijah and Charlotte, the alpha and omega genetically modified werewolf leads, have their own story elsewhere. This short story is a slice of life after they’re in a permanent relationship but before they’ve formalised their mating. It is well written and a steamy read, with each determined to reach their own goals in a gentle way. I enjoyed the erotic interlude and appreciated the development of the existing relationship. The author included an introduction to set the scene so it does stand alone but I think reading the first story would enhance this one.

The Tiger and the Swan by Cassie Alexander
4 stars

Lily, the female swan shifter lead, has spent her life in fear of having someone steal her feathers and be able to control her. Working for a dragon shifter, she’s in the process of saving up so she can pay him to look after her feathers with his hoard. Namir, the male tiger shifter lead and security at her job, has been trying to get her to date him but she can’t trust anybody with her secrets…until her feathers are stolen and she has nowhere else to turn.

This story is female lead POV, well written, and a steamy sweet romance. I enjoyed how romantic Namir was. I enjoyed Lily’s personal strength and independence. I enjoyed their physical relationship development and their banter and playfulness.

Myra’s Monster by Leslie Chase
4 stars

Myra, the female human lead, has committed to assisting an interstellar crime boss with a heist from a dead ship from a disappeared species in return for clearing her significant debt and full repairs for her spaceship. But when they arrive at the legendary ship, she’s shocked by the fact that there’s still a live alien on it and that the ship is still partially functional. The monster, the male lead, on the ship is telepathic and part of a hive mind and quite distressed to find he’s the only remaining being other than the dying ship mind. But he’s interested in the intruders, especially the female who is enthralled by what she sees and doesn’t realise the risk the males present to her…

This short story is dual POV, well written, and a cute and sexy romance. I enjoyed that Myra was open minded and willing to take a chance. I enjoyed that the monster was intrigued by her and willing to try living another way instead of just dying with his ship. I enjoyed the intimate erotic scenes and appreciated the self-sacrifice of the ship.

The Naga’s Faerie Mate by Elizabeth Austin
4 stars

Niksha, the male naga prince lead, is disgusted by the brutal mentality of the nobles around him, including his father, the king. Unfortunately, his father has a sceptre that has the capacity to strip him of his sanity and send him out to be murdered by the orc, ogres, and faeries around their mountains, so he keeps his opinions to himself. Then he is sent out with his most brutal brother to track down a faerie who has stumbled into their land so his father can literally have her for a meal. On finding her, he scents that Tallulah, the female faerie lead, is his fated mate. Killing his brother to keep her, he takes her out of naga lands.

Tallulah was mucking around with her friends and got stuck in the human realm. Trying to find any way back, she accidentally ended up in Naga lands. Whilst grateful for the rescue, she also knows the terrible naga stories but is attracted to Niksha and maybe wants to play…

This short story is dual POV, well written, and a cute and sexy story. I enjoyed Niksha’s clear moral position and the fact that he tried to make the best choices available to him. I enjoyed that both lead characters were young virgins, exploring together. I enjoyed Tallulah’s playfulness and the eroticism of their play. I enjoyed the ending with them determined to make their situation work.

The Governess and the Wolf by Hannah Haze
4 stars

Miss Sarah Samuels, the female human lead, is a lady reduced by circumstances to taking a governess position. Looking after her charges, she meets their uncle, Mr Edwards, the male werewolf (though she doesn’t know it) lead, who makes her very uncomfortable though attracted. When he tells her to stay inside at night, she’s confused - none of the guests in the house do - and, when she sees him lying in the yard one night, she rushes out to help. He seizes her and bears her off, telling her she’s his mate and claiming her, promising her a lifetime of adventures and freedom.

This short story is female lead POV, well written, and a sweet and steamy historical werewolf romance. I enjoyed Sarah’s perseverance in the face of difficulty and appreciated her backbone when dealing with Mr Edwards. I enjoyed their intimate scenes and appreciated his initial attempts to protect her from himself.

Demon by Night by Layla Fae
4 stars

Alyssa, the female human lead, has been flirting with Drastos, her reference librarian and the male lead, for literal years. When their first date goes well but there’s not follow up from his end, Alyssa approaches him to be told there’s nothing more.

Then a demon appears in her rooms, looking for sex. A demon that seems awfully familiar…

This short story is female lead POV, with a male lead POV epilogue. It is well written and an amusing erotic romance. I enjoyed Alyssa’s persistence and her determination not to be scared away, even though she didn’t consider herself naturally brave. I enjoyed the intimate scenes and the relationship development that deepened through the story.

Wild Berry Wine by Layla Fae
3.75 stars

Jane, the female human lead, has been stagnating since she broke up with her boyfriend. Her friend has dragged her along to a Revel, where she catches the attention of Pan, the male satyr lead. He seduces her into play and then splits into two for a ménage before she passes out, waking with her friend where they started. A couple of months later, she finds a bar with a name and image that is evocative and the scent when she steps inside is awfully familiar, as is the bartender…

This short story is female lead POV, well written, and a fun erotic romp ending in a HFN. I enjoyed Jane’s willingness to be adventurous and take a risk. I enjoyed the primal play and the step out of time and place.

Rutted by the Raptor by V.T Bonds
3.75 stars

Kope, the female omega lead, is a body being disposed of on a planet with so much danger that there is a 2% survival rate. Furious and desperate, she drops down with all the others being disposed of and immediately starts moving as the planet and it’s inhabitants attack. But a reptilian raptor alpha sniffs her out and is determined to save her and then claim and keep her.

This super short story is female lead POV, well written, and an intense, fast paced, erotic romance. It is also somewhat dark, with blood and pain in the mix and not quite my speed, though I appreciate read the alpha’s determination and focus and the immediate and intense connection.

The Orc in My Closet by Cara Wylde
3.5 stars

Heather, the female human lead, has bought a castle with part of divorce settlement from a stupidly rich cheating man. Determined to start her life over, she is shocked to find an orc bursting out of her closet on the first night. Whilst they don’t understand each other’s language, physically they understand each other quite well… Hulgan, the male orc lead, was shocked to find a portal to the human world in a cave and immensely glad to find Heather on the other side. He knows he can’t live in her world but doesn’t know if she’d cope in his - they both appreciate the creature comforts of her side…

This short story is dual POV, well written, and contains a HFN ending. I appreciated that both characters had negotiated their relationship and were spending time in both sides of the portals. I enjoyed the intimate scenes and the developing relationship. I wasn’t particularly happy about the lack of resolution at the end - I like a HEA…

The Satyr’s Sin by Ophelia Bell
3.5 stars

Nemea, the female artisan lead, knows she has special blood because otherwise she wouldn’t be able to access the island she’s on but she can’t discern what. Finding an unknown stone on the beach, she creates a phallus and the ring to go on it and completes a summoning ritual for a god who will be able to assist her. Pan, one male lead, comes to her, having failed at his guard duty and, feeling that the island’s ward will keep him secure, they commence coitus. But mid-coitus, Vesh, the other male lead, arrives. He sends Pan back and finishes Nemea, adjusting her memory to think they were a dream.

This short story is tri POV, well written but is not a romance, simply a good piece of erotica. I enjoyed Nemea and her search for understanding and self-revelation. I enjoyed the sexual interactions with Vesh and Pan. I hope they actually get a story with a HEA. I would have appreciated a lack of HEA warning.

The Boon by Jocelyn Montana
3.5 stars

Devon, the female lead, was in utero when her mother was exiled and has lived her whole life there. When her mother attempts to transform her into a harpy, she runs and accidentally sets Rerek, the male lead, free from imprisonment. Rerek finds he owes her a boon and tries to control her mind so he doesn’t have to grant it but Devon throws his enthralment off and requests he save her from becoming a harpy and take her back to the world she should have been in. Devon is willing to pay whatever price is required and enjoys the sexual payment. But the gate guardian demands her memories as toll to enter the other world…

This short story is dual POV, well written, and also erotica. I enjoyed Devon’s determination to make her way in safety and her practicality in dealing with payment. I was amused by Rerek’s original position and enjoyed his changing perspective on Devon, culminating in his certainty she is his mate and will return to him. I would have appreciated a lack of HEA warning.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

RATING: 4 / 5 ⭐
GENRE: Monster Erotica, Paranormal Romance
TYPE: Anthology
STORIES: 13 stories (450+ pages)
Will I re-read it? Some stories, yes!
This anthology was read on Kindle and hence, number of pages might differ from other versions/readers.

Full of short and spicy stories (mainly PWP) which was exactly what I needed right now. The quality of the stories were quite high for an anthology. I found a few that became favorites where I might read the full-length version so I can get more!
Overall, a great anthology!

Short review for each story below.

The Satyr’s Sin (c. 34 pages) by Ophelia Bell.
Prequel in Lords of Pandemonium
Rating: 4.5 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 3.5 / 5 🔥
Nemea tries to find out what she is and needs answer from a god, so she tries to summon one.
Includes: (M/F) Hybrid human x Gods
Loved this story and will definitely check out the series! It was fun, entertaining and spicy.

Myra’s Monster (c. 37 pages) by Leslie Chase.
Rating: 4 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 2 / 5 🔥
Myra has made a deal which takes her to an old, abandoned ship.
Includes: (M/F) Human x Alien, Violence
Short, sweet and entertaining. Loved this alien’s species!

Rutted by the Raptor (c. 20 pages) by V.T. Bonds.
Book #2 in The Knottiverse: Jurassic Mates
Rating: 4 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 2.5 / 5 🔥
Kope is sent, as a punishment, to another planet filled with Dinosaurs.
Includes: (M/F) Human x Dinosaur hybrid, Death, Knotting
Super strange, but really fun and entertaining. Maybe a bit too short.

Monster’s Prey (c. 27 pages) by Leann Ryans.
Book #3 in Monsters in the Mountains
Rating: 3.5 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 2 / 5 🔥
Nala has lost her mate and is preparing for another one when she gets taken.
Includes: (M/F) Human x Monster/Beast, Alpha/Omega, Knotting
Enjoyable read but a bit too much omega / alpha dynamic. Like, everything you can read about an omega was happening here and I do have trouble accepting such strong behaviors sometimes due to being an omega.

Demon by Night (c. 35 pages) by Godiva Glenn.
Rating: 4.5 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 3.5 / 5 🔥
Alyssa has a mysterious surprise visitor one night that might be a bit familiar.
Includes: (M/F) Human x Demon, Non/dub-con
Loved it! Loved the demon and all the spice! I would not say no to a longer version.

Abducted (c. 44 pages) by Cass Alex.
Book #2 in Monster Mouthfuls
Rating: 3 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 2.5 / 5 🔥
Luna has a new job as a species specialist but the contact with a new species is not as expected.
Includes: (M/F) Human x Alien, Knotting
This is a shortened, “anthology version”. A bit hard to follow when reading the Alien’s POV since there were a lot of made-up words. After some chapters, I did remember reading the first story in this series which did help a little with following along. I do think that the alien was, for me at least, a bit too much similar to a dog.

The Orc In My Closet (c. 29 pages) by Cara Wylde.
Rating: 3 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 2 / 5 🔥
Heather buys a castle and finds a strange thing in her closet.
Includes: (M/F) Human x Orc
It was a short, okay read. A HFN ending kind of.

The Tiger and the Swan (c. 38 pages) by Cassie Alexander.
Rating: 2.5 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 2 / 5 🔥
Lily has a break-in at her home and something important is stolen.
Includes: (M/F) Swan-shifter x Tiger-shifter, A lil’ bit of violence
Also, an okay read. I really can’t see a swan standing on land beautiful so for me, the swan-shifter thing did not quite work.

Full Moon Heat (c. 19 pages) by Chloe Parker.
A Riftwolved Novella
Rating: 3 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 1.5 / 5 🔥
Charlotte has decided to have a fun little chase during full moon.
Includes: (M/F) Lycan x Lycan, Knotting
Short, okay read. I did wish for another ending.

The Governess and the Wolf (c. 32 pages) by Hannah Haze.
Rating: 3.5 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 2 / 5 🔥
Sarah is working as a governess and one day, their uncle comes to visit.
Includes: (M/F) Human x Werewolf, Knotting
An enjoyable story with a historical setting. It’s been a long time since I’ve read a historical romance so that was a nice touch. I liked the grouchiness in our MMC.

Wild Berry Wine (c. 28 pages) by Layla Fae.
Rating: 4.5 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 3.5 / 5 🔥
Jane follows her friend to a party full with surprises.
Includes: (M/F) Human x Satyr, Multiplying = double the fun
I loved this one and I really wished it was longer! Will check and see if the author has any more fun “monster” stories.

The Naga’s Faerie Mate (c. 33 pages) by Elizabeth Austin.
A Step Between Realms Novella
Rating: 2.5 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 3 / 5 🔥
Niksha is sent on a mission to find a wounded Fae.
Includes: (M/F) Naga x Fae, Double the fun
This could have been good but the execution fell. The writing felt stressed, messy and unstructured. Might have been better if it were longer but the author could have skipped several sentences that were basically the same information all over again.

The Boon (c. 32 pages) by Jocelyn Montana.
Connected to the Immortals of Ulterra Series
Rating: 4 / 5 ⭐
Spice: 3 / 5 🔥
Devon really wants to leave Peklo and go to Ulterra but accidentally awakens a god.
Includes: (M/F) Human x God (Jakal), Knotting
This was a short and steamy prequel/introduction. I might read the full-length book about these characters!

This was a fantastic anthology, a lot of really great authors contributed and imo, put their best foot forward. There were a few new to me names that were nice to discover and a lot of familiar ones that were fun to revisit. I think MDK did a really nice job putting this together and I’m really glad I got to ARC read it! Congrats to the authors, on a successful anthology 💙

——

Specific short story thoughts (4 & 5 star ratings only, 3 stars or did not read are not included, I don’t want any hurt feelings, some things just weren’t for me.)

The Satyr’s Sin — Ophelia Bell
* New to me author; I like her writing style, the flow is great and the descriptions are vivid.
* Smut to plot ratio is more plot than smut but with heavy build-up
* DP (A), MFM; mostly-humanlike, monster is generous here imo
* Kinda just ends, def not even a HFN which is where it’s losing a star for me. The character gets her answers, kinda. But her mates as whisked away and there’s not even a “look for the completed version by the author coming in 20XX” it’s just over?
4/5 ⭐️

Myra’s Monster — Leslie Chase
* Another new to me author; I am not super into spacey-tech-scifi but I enjoyed this one. I’m also not at all into anything bug like but the way the author describes this alien isn’t off-putting despite the obvious bug-qualities. I got a little nervous initially thinking he was going to be a spider lmao but the “chitinous carapace” saved the day, and the armadillo ball thing was hella cute.
* Plot to smut ratio was pretty well-balanced and the story was well-paced.
* Very inhuman monster, inhuman tongue, very large, very fancy peen
* HEA, yay!
5/5 ⭐️

Demon by Night — Godiva Glenn
* Familiar author; Consent on this one was a little iffy, there’s a lot of fear initially even with the desire that was more than I’d like; I think this falls into dubcon territory — esp. when she says no to a few things but he pressed on. But if you’re okay with that it’s a good short.
* Well-written, wordier/classier than the average smut; plot to smut ratio is much heavier on the smut but still a storyline & an HEA
* Demon-y demon for sexy times; Inhuman tongue, funky demon d!ck, special stretching/preparing toy with demon magic, and k!nk elements
5/5 ⭐️

The Tiger and the Swan — Cassie Alexander
* Familiar author; Pacing was a little wonky but I really liked the prey/predator relationship and I love that the Namir was so adamant about not taking advantage of Lily.
* Tropes: Virgin, first time (ugh, bleeding 🙄)
* HEA, nicely tied up even if I would’ve loved to read more
4/5 ⭐️

Full Moon Heat — Chloe Parker
*Familiar author; I love the riftwolves, so I loved this short — although short really is the key word here lol. I wish it were a little longer, I wanted more time with Charlotte & Elijah. I love Chloe’s writing and I love the worlds she’s built; this glimpse into that world was a nice reminder that I have another book of hers to read asap.
* Tropes: primal/chase, heat, breeding (no conception), knotting
* HEA, promise of marriage & mating
5/5 ⭐️

Wild Berry Wine — Layla Fae
* Familiar author; Was kind of lost in the beginning but I think that was intentional since the FMC was also lost. I enjoyed the direction it went and I loved the music metaphors/similes/theme throughout their interaction 👀 cough cough
* Tropes: chase play, clones/multiples, DP(A), flavored 💦
* HFN? You can kinda assume HEA but it was left pretty open ended.
5/5 ⭐️

The Naga’s Faerie Mate — Elizabeth Austin
* I appreciate that the kinks & tropes (and triggers) were listed for this one. I was missing that with most of the others. Only addition would be that the DP is DPV
* I like the POV switches but I feel like I’m getting too much of the same information told by diff people. Like it rewinds too much. Once the actual action starts it’s good though! I like Elizabeth’s take on Nagas.
* HEA, mated but with a rough road ahead (room to revisit it seems)
4/5 ⭐️

The Boon — Jocelyn Montana
* I love Jocelyn’s writing style so much; it’s so descriptive and vivid and I really enjoy her twists on mythology. I was really looking forward to this short and it didn’t disappoint.
* Tropes: knotting, fated mates
* Not an HFN or HEA, they end up separated and her memories stolen by another creature; he promises they’ll be together again but ugh, not a great way to end the anthology. I feel cheated a bit lol
4/5 ⭐️ (would’ve been 5/5 if it ended differently, sorry!)

This person did a really good job at giving succinct, few sentence summaries of each story so I'm just gonna give my opinions on them. Despite some of the stories not rating high for me, this was probably one of the better anthologies I've read in a while.

The Satyr’s Sin
by Ophelia Bell
2 stars
This is obviously a part of one of this author’s other series, and I think that’s why it makes so little sense. I felt like this was actually the first few chapters of a book that abruptly gets cut off and you’re left with so many questions because of how short it is.

Myra’s Monster
by Leslie Chase
3 stars
This one was pretty good. It had a decent story and a very interesting world built here. I just don’t understand if the light woke the ship up, why couldn’t it be used to sustain it.

Rutted by the Raptor
by V.T. Bonds
2 stars
Umm…I know some of things I’m okay with in these series is weird…but sex with a dinosaur? That’s a little too weird and I just can’t picture it working in my head. Which is too bad because this was a well written story.

Monster’s Prey
by Leann Ryans
2.5 stars
Okay, so this one wasn’t bad at all, but it was also not all that exciting. I don’t know. I liked how these two were a little older and just went for what they wanted, but I never really got pulled into it.

Demon by Night
by Godiva Glen
4 stars
This one was hot and oh so fun.

Abducted
by Cass Alex
2 stars
I didn’t realize I had read the first book before this one until partway thru, but I think I liked that one more. The men on the base were immature assholes, and I can’t imagine that many army personnel acting like that. I both hated and liked Luna because she came across as immature and stupid sometimes, but not at others. It was noted at the end that this was shortened to be part of these novellas, and I think that that, more than the actual story, made it feel incomplete.

The Orc In My Closet
by Cara Wylde
2 stars
This was okay. The beginning was slow but the relationship moved fast and the next thing you know there’s a time skip.

The Tiger and the Swan
by Cassie Alexander
3.5 stars
I quite liked this one. Despite being a short novella you get a well fleshed out story that worked. And the juxtaposition of the overwhelming violence of the tiger and his infinite care with his little bird was great.

Full Moon Heat
by Chloe Parker
2 stars
This was sort of good but mostly not. I really liked how these two played chase in the forest but the rest of the story was kind of boring. And then finding out why he wouldn’t bite her to officially mate her had me rolling my eyes.

The Governess and the Wolf
by Hannah Haze
3.5 stars
Another good one that I really liked and was a well developed story for being a short novella. It wasn’t super exciting, but it was interesting and kept my attention. This one even ended well and felt like a complete story.

Wild Berry Wine
by Layla Fae
2.5 stars
This one wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. I get the whole music thing going on, but it was too much and way distracting from the story. And the end was incredibly eye roll inducing.

The Naga's Faerie Mate
by Elizabeth Austin
3 stars
This one was quite fun once the main characters met. I appreciated them not denying their mating bond despite being so different because it made for some really hot moments.

The Boon
by Jocelyn Montana
4 stars
I really liked this one. The characters were good and the world here interesting. And having a dominate god was hot. Not sure if this was a prequel to the series or the part of the first book, but I liked this one more than enough that I want to check out the rest.

This book was nothing short of amazing! It’s a big collection of thirteen 🌶 🥵 stories, for any and all monster lovers. Aliens, Demons, Lycans, Orcs, and so much more! All of these authors stepped up their game when they wrote these tales for our reading pleasure.

The Satyr's Sin by Ophelia Bell - For a short story, the world building was perfectly suited for this different story. We’ve got a human hybrid, and after she unleashes her creative abilities and summons a satyr. I hope that the author plans on writing more about these characters.

Myra’s Monster by Leslie Chase - If you want a cute and s3xy story that has instalove and mating? This is the perfect one for you, it involves a spaceship falling apart for the FMC and she stumbles on an abandoned spaceship from an old civilization. I have not read many Alien or Sci-Fi stories so this was super interesting!

Rutted by the Raptor by V.T. Bonds - I swear this was probably my favorite story! It took place on a Jurassic planet, and it’s high 🥵. It involves a human omega, and an alpha human hybrid raptor. So different!

Monster’s Prey by Leann Ryans - This may be a fairly simple story but it does hit you in the emotions too. The FMC is an omega widow, and when she is out in the woods, and horned monster alpha comes to her aid.

Demon by Night by Godiva Glen - This was a fun little read. human FMC has a cute little crush on a reference librarian who’s a demon. After going on a date, he ghosts her, and she requests more from him. When a demon shows up in her bedroom, it’s her date!

Abducted by Cass Alex - this one was super different! It’s a different way with a humanoid dog like tribe, and a species specialist. There was so much world building which I loved since this was a whole new type of world to me. I like that even with all the differences between the couple, it was cute in its own way.

The Orc In My Closet by Cara Wylde - This is straight up 🥵 🥵, it involves a divorcee and an orc like, and a castle! Their bodies do most of the talking when he comes through the portal in her closet!

The Tiger and the Swan by Cassie Alexander - This was a cute little shifter story, I love that there was a swan, those can be mean little birds! And the FMC remembers how fierce swans can be when an important possession is taken.

Full Moon Heat by Chloe Parker - This is a bit of cuteness, primal, and shifters all wrapped in one. An omega, human-lycan hybrid wants her alpha’s bite but he’s holding back. She takes charge of her life when she initiates a chase during her heat on a full moon.

The Governess and the Wolf by Hannah Haze - I loved this story, I think it was my favorite! The FMC is a governess for children of a lord and lady. She believes she sees eyes and fur from a child’s drawing, and her dreams. The lords brother warns her not to go outside after dark, and she fails to heed her warning when she thinks he’s in distress.

Wild Berry Wine by Layla Fae - This one was different, sweet, and I love the different magical essence. The FMC draws the attention of satyr when she goes out with her friend and grabs his attention. We jump in the action pretty quickly and it fits the story!

The Naga's Faerie Mate by Elizabeth Austin - I loved this story, between a fae and her very protective mate a Naga. There’s 🥵, some world building, and a bit of fun equipment. I also like that he was on a search for his mate, he couldn’t picture her perfectly but knew she was out there.

The Boon by Jocelyn Montana - This was a super interesting read, with the differences between the way she is ‘transformed’, to the issues that can occur. She wants to escape the underworld, but she has a few obstacles in her way. He was imprisoned, and they must help one another, possibly? This is a lead into a series so it’s not finished.

💫 It was a great anthology, I always want to find more tropes, or styles of books to read. Plus, discovering new to me authors is fun, this is a great way to find new ones. The anthology is a way to read new things all around without spending the $ on 13 different books. And if you like them, you’ll have your pick of authors and tropes!

Great price for 13 amazing stories!

rounded up to 4 stars.

The Satyr's Sin by Ophelia Bell: A short sexy story with a Human hybrid and the titular satyr. For such a short story the world building is well doen and i wanted more of the characters and their stories. It has an ending but there is more story to come. 4 stars

Myra's Monster by Leslie Chase: A space pirate and a protective alien monster. This is sweet and sexy story with instalove and mating. It's a short and fun read that has a world that I want more informtion about.4 stars.

Rutted by the Raptor by V.T.Bonds: Human Omega and Alpha Raptor. This is a crazy sauce high heat story that takes place on a Jurassic planet and is what it says on the tin.Not much in the way of plot but it is a fun read especially if this niche appeals to you.4 crazy sauce stars

Monster's Prey by Leann Ryans:Omega widow and Alpha horned Monster.A widow bride going into heat meets a horned monster and sexy times happen. This is a simple but surprisingly emotional read. it's good but not my favorite. 3 1/2 stars

Demon by Night by Godiva Glenn:human and demon. These two are a fun pair. This a high heat, demon anatomy and it isn't totally instalove.Another smut filled one. i enjoyed it. 4 stars

Abducted by Cass Alex:Speices specialist and Canid alien. This a shortened version of a longer book
but is still 18 chapters long. It is the second in a series. Due to the length there is more world building and character development. The herione Luna is on her first assignment and is dealing with cultural diffrences including abduction. The hero G'ruuf is a sweetheart, even with said abduction,it's great seeing him with his tribe.i will read the longer version. 4 stars.

The Orc In My Closet by Cara Wylde:An Orc and a divorcee. Lady gets divorced, buys a castle and ends up with an orc in her closet who ravishes her.Nothing deep here just hot monster sex.Well written smut. 4 stars

The Tiger and the Swan by Cassie Alexander:The shifters on the tin.I am terrified of swans so having a swan shifter is fun.The world building is there though not compleely developed. These two are corny fun and I enjoyed the the ride.3 1/2 stars.

Full Moon Heat by Chloe Parker:Alpha and Omega wolf shifters. This a sexy cute read. She wants his mating bite and he is holding back.Que a chase through the woods and heat sex. I'll look for more books in this world. 4 stars

The Governess and the Wolf by Hannah Haze:What it says on the tin. This is lower heat then the others. It goes from traditonal victorian to werewolf sex at the end. It's pleasent but not my favorite.3 stars

Wild Berry Wine by Layla Fae:A god and a woman.Uggh satyrs again and this one doesn't dilly dally before jumping into the action.Gives me "A Midsummer night's Dream" vibes. Hot 4 stars.

The Naga's Faerie Mate by Elizabeth Austin:A faerie and Naga oh my.With high heat, protective mate, some world building and two...eggplants this is another fun read.I enjoyed it and want more Nagas.4 stars

The Boon by Jocelyn Montana:Humanoid and Demon god. This is a prequel to the Immortals of Ulterra series. As such it ends on a cliffhanger though it can stand alone if you don't want to continue. I'm on the fence with this one. 3 1/2 stars.

[11] Eu não gostei da MC e não sabia que tinha algum fetiche por sátiros, bem... welcome to the rest of your life.

Disclaimer: I do not recommend this book for those faint of heart or those that have not dabbled in monster romance books before. It would be like jumping into the deep end of the pool when you can't swim. Maybe ease yourself in first with something tamer, or throw caution to the wind and go for it because this is excellent. 🤷‍♀️

Disclaimer number 2 : Batteries are required for this read - that or a willing victim, take your pick. 😉

13 erotic short stories where the monsters are actually monsters, and they have very monster like body parts. 😉

The Satyr's Sin - Ophelia Bell
5 🌟
Didn't know I had a thing for Satyr Gods, learn something new every day. 🤷‍♀️

Myras Monster - Leslie Chase

Rutted by the Raptor- V.T Bonds
5 🌟
Don't mind me whilst I ponder my life choices, because I freaking loved this.😅

Monsters Prey - Leann Ryan
5 🌟
I'll be his prey any day.

Demon by Night - Godiva Glen
5 🌟
I volunteer as tribute to become a demon's toy.

Abducted - Cass Alex

The Orc in My Closet - Cara Wylde
5 🌟
Seriously, why isn't there an orc in my closet, I'm very jealous, this was very hot.

The Tiger and the Swan - Cassie Alexander

Full Moon Heat - Chloe Parker

The Governess and the Wolf - Hannah Haze
5 🌟
Getting railed by a Werewolf is now a life goal for me.

Wild Berry Wine - Layla Fae
5 🌟
Yep, definitely good with Satyrs.

The Naga's Faerie Mate - Elizabeth Austin
5 🌟
Not sure when snake people became hot, but it's now a thing.

The Boon - Jocelyn Montana
5 🌟
I'm going to go find me some ancient god and give him my true name too.

As you can see, I haven't quite finished the anthology yet, it's not my fault though - I ran out of batteries and my husband had to go to work. I promise to keep updating as I go.

🔞 18+ read due to explicit content and themes. In the ARC copy a couple of stories have content warnings at the beginning but many don't, if you do wish to find out any triggers/content warnings then please feel free to dm me on Instagram.

I received an ARC of this book and I'm leaving an honest review voluntarily.

4⭐️ overall
2-4🌶️ depending on the story

I rated these stories right after reading them and included whatever note I put in my kindle.

The Satyr's Sin by Ophelia Bell

Myra's Monster by Leslie Chase
5⭐️ Liked the FMC and MMC and the sci-fi setting.
Rutted by the Raptor by V.T.Bonds
3⭐️ Skipped this originally then went back to it. It was weird but there was a warning that it was weird
Monster's Prey by Leann Ryans
4⭐️ I like this omegaverse monster take (sidenote: I have now read some of the other stories in this series and also like them - they're cute, spicy, quick reads)
Demon by Night by Godiva Glenn
4⭐️ Interesting paranormal rules for this one and definitely spicy
Abducted Monster Mouthfuls by Cass Alex
4⭐️ cute sci-fi looking forward to the longer story (sidenote: I didn't remember this one till I looked at the character names)
The Orc in my Closet by Cara Wylde
3⭐️ Okay but incomplete
The Tiger and the Swan by Cassie Alexander
5⭐️ I like this whole predator/prey dynamic
Full Moon Heat by Chloe Parker
3⭐️ I normally like Chloe Parker, just didn't feel this one
The Governess and the Wolf
4⭐️ no notes
Wild Berry Wine by Layla Fae
3.5⭐️ Layla's stories are usually hit or miss for me
The Naga's Faerie Mate by Elizabeth Austin
4⭐️ that's some sex and violence right there
The Boon by Jocelyn Montana
2⭐️ Meh, it's incomplete and wasn't a strong enough story for the end, I wonder if I would have liked it more if it had been earlier in the anthology

I have only heard of like three of the contributing authors for this anthology. The rest are new to me. That is the nice aspect about reading an anthology is that you get exposed to so many new authors. I did not realize all of the various types of monsters there. I am a bit of a newbie to the monster romance genre. Other than the typical vampire and werewolf stories; I had not read many others.

Recently, I have read several of author, Elizabeth Austin's stories. So, my love to orcs has grown. Which Ms. Austin's story was one of my favorites in this anthology. The first and second stories in this anthology by Ophelia Bell titled The Satyr's Sin and Myra's Monster by Leslie Chase were other favorites of mine as well.

The other stories were good. I mean they definitely brought the heat to this anthology. However, I found myself not as attached to the characters for the most part in the other stories. Yet, I do still want to check out all of these authors full length monster romance books.

I FREAKING LOVE these monster anthologies. The freakier the better, IMO. And I’m okay with that. I love bouncing around these anthologies, reading in whatever order that catches my fancy. Inevitably I end up running over and stuffing my kindle with authors backlist, preordering and scheduling reminders to ensure I don’t forget release dates.

I loved revisiting Leann Ryans Monsters in the Mountains series and continue to look forward to more in this world. I devoured this story! If y’all haven’t already, go check this series out.

VT Bonds Jurassic Mates was freaking *chef’s kiss* amazing. I’m aaaallllll over that new world. The ‘with bells on’ all over it. I’m okay with this.

There wasn’t a single story I didn’t gobble up, in this book. If this is the type of story you enjoy, you won’t regret it. I received a copy of this book and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.

The good thing with anthologies is the reader gets multiple short stories from various authors. If you don't like one you can just move on to the next story. I liked a few of the stories included here, although some of them were only so-so. Surprisingly I liked the one chapter only story by VT Bonds. Obviously I would have liked an expanded story and some more background, but it was intriguing enough to make me want more stories from this universe. My absolute favorite from this anthology was from Leann Ryans. The third story in the series, it showed a more mature couple. I like how the heroine chooses her fate. I also found some new authors I enjoyed.

This anthology is packed with thirteen excellent monster romances. Satyr’s Sin by Ophelia Bell was a delicious nugget - the start of something that will no doubt be fantastic! I need to know more about Nemea’s journey to finding that gods Pan and Vesh are both her mate. Rutted by the Raptor by V T Bonds was wonderfully weird - once you ignore biology and suspend belief, this story is a knotty good read! Wild Berry Wine by Layla Fae was one wild, semi- hallucinogenic, synesthesia- esque, insane ride! Pan shows Revel virgin Jane a magical night she won’t ever forget. I also really enjoyed The Orc in My Closet by Cara Wylde, The Tiger and The Swan by Cassie Alexander and Full Moon Heat by Chloe Parker. A great anthology - I’ll always choose Monsters Over Men!

Thirteen amazing short stories that entice to make you crave more. Some are so sweet the ‘awe’ factor is off the charts, while others are sexy and down right steamy and the others you are so bewildered you wondered where the roller coaster of strange came from but what a ride it was! Each author has their own unique spin and cannot be describe because each style is enthralling, riveting even. But imagine the possibilities. I don’t know what was put into these authors drinks to write such imaginary creativity, but wow!.

This anthology is full of monstrous stories?!? or monstrously wonderful stories that could melt the panties off any monster lover.

Whether they be stories that are just the beginnings of more wicked beastly madness to come or just a delightful dark treat, these tales will fill your dreams with naughty fun.

Most of my favorite authors and some new ones to add the Must-Read shelf, this collection was definitely worth the read and I look forward to ready the stories that continue after.

I received an ARC copy of the book but I'm leaving this review voluntarily.

I'm reviewing The Governess and the Wolf. Now, PNR isn't always my jam, but I wanted to give this a try because I absolutely love Hannah Haze. I did enjoy the story but I've realized that I much prefer my shifting books to have the sex while they are in human form. Overall it was a good read and was well written. If PNR is a favourite genre of yours you should definitely check out this collection!

So Many Good Stories.

But... I read certain stories from favourite authors. Today, I read Jocelyn Montana's tale. Of Devon and Rerek. I kinda read out of order with recently reading Fate Promised. Though in a weird way, it has worked well with having read this. Now I can read Fate Awakened to see how their story ends. I loved the characters and was left wanting them together. :) Now to see just how.

short snippets with steam

As usual, of all anthologies, some stories are good, and some are just so so. I would even say in this particular book several stories were so short that I would almost call them snippets into the author's books as only an introduction.

I must admit there were several I did enjoy and look forward to checking out these other worlds offered by the author.

An anthology of stories always offers a challenge; different styles, different authors. Generally well-written, nevertheless, some of these left me cold, while others were very enjoyable. Leann Ryan's storytelling is exceptional as always, but I also particularly enjoyed those by Cassie Alexander and Hannah Haze.

Things that bump in the night...

There is something out there you think looking towards the dark woods. All sorts of monsters exist in the dark, just waiting for a lovely young woman/omega to come along. Monsters aren’t civilized like humans. They take what they want, but they do have a soft side on occasion. Loving is always rough so if this is a trigger this book isn’t for you.

Brilliant anthology. Loved all these stories.
Favourite read was Leann Ryans: Monsters Prey:
Nala's mate died long ago, but omegas need to have a purpose an alpha to live for and her brother cannot stand the burden of having his sister back in his life. Nala knows she must move on, but she wants to move onto someone of her choosing
Brilliant read.
