Such an amazing debut novel! 👏🏼 Captivating plot that will have you hooked from the start, enchanting characters that will get you hot and bothered 🥵 and an ending that will leave you begging for more - like me! Be prepared to lose sleep and neglect your priorities because you will not want to put this book down. Cannot wait for book 2!

What an AMAZING debut novel from up and coming authors AC Lawlor and MJ Colgan. To say I am now obsessed with Dezrothia would be an understatement. I am fascinated my this world, it’s inhabitants and the adventure we set out on. Evangelia is a bada$$, Kane is 🥰🥰🥰, Alaric is 🔥🔥🔥. And Kai…oh how I love thee 💜💜💜.
Do yourself a favor and pick up this book as soon as humanly possible. I have not been sucked into a book like this since…well, since another fantasy series by another delightful duo.
If you haven’t been convinced yet…MMF PNR…Fae, Shifters, Spice, Action…it has all the things. And that cover…🤤. I’m waiting impatiently for the next one ladies!

Absolutely loved it, a must read!!!

I had to sit on this because of the final chapter. Ladies, how could you do this to me?!
This demented duo of writers have written the penultimate fantasy/mystery/smutty goodness. My theory brain is broken 😅 and I blame the fickle fates 😂
King Regis has been systematically wiping out, what he considers the lesser fae and segregation has been the norm for 100s of years now. Evangelia had been living within the Rebel camps until a certain twin went on a birthday excursion. She seems fated for one.. but will she end up with the right one or are the fates twisted and cruel? She has a plan to right the wrongs she’s seen but gets caught between two brothers. They aren’t fighting for the same throne, but it would seem they both have their eyes set on her. Elikai believes he is owed the seat of power, whereas his twin wants nothing to do with castle life. He would rather spend time training with his mentor and best friend, General of the King’s Horde - Alaric. Alaric, it would seem has his eye on Eva as well, what does this little devil have planned?
I have questions.. what are the rings really suppressing? Will Eva accomplish her task? Can Alaric see passed suspicions and intrigue? Will Kane see his worth? Can someone please get a set of purple cutlery for Kai as a wedding gift?? (Please!)

Eva is a strong intelligent FMC who knows her worth and she is so wonderfully written that she ‘shows you’, she doesn’t ‘tell you’. I absolutely adore this about her.
The twins, Elikai and Nekane may look alike… But they are nothing alike. And I think I’d love that about them. As much as I want to hate Kai (Elikai), he is so freaking relatable 😒 Kane (Nekane), What to say about this fae? He’s going to shock you. In ways that are magnificent. 🥵
And Alaric, he has been alive for so much of what has transpired. So much of his history remains shrouded, but I promise you that’s not what I’m worried about… His relationship with Kane.. 😏

A stunning debut fantasy romance that is a can't miss read!
Set in a fantasy world where many races of Shifters and witches are suppressed and ruled over by a King that believes them lesser races.
The female lead, who comes from the rebellion, is strong and determined. I fell in love with her witty banter right away. There are two Princes and a bad twin / good twin angle that I just loved. What happens when twins experience different childhoods? This story really explores that dynamic.
The antagonist of the main character is so well written that I can at times feel sympathy for him, but the dislike of him is such a visceral reaction. He's like a perfect combination of Draco Malfoy and Joffrey Baratheon. No character in the story is two dimensional. They are so well rounded.
I love the Scottish Brogue of a certain character and suffice it to say, I would do anything for that man. The accent was well-written, I could hear it in my mind, and I'm a sucker for it.
A perfect mix of witty banter, drama, and fantasy action that makes for excellent character development and intriguing plot.
If I didn't know it was a debut novel I wouldn't believe it. It's just so expertly crafted. The characters and world building are so natural and immersive.
The romance was very well done with perfectly crafted tension. And when it gets spicy, it's scorching!
Lores of Ruin is a thoroughly fleshed out story that manages to answer the questions raised while reading and still leave me wanting for the sequel.
The ending had me on the edge if my seat. I'm so eager for the next book and excited to add new authors to my favorite author list.

The premise of the story peaked my interest since I love me some fae. I'm just gonna post my honest rambling notes that I took as I read this, so again SPOILERS will be included.
Chapter 4 Kai is easily the universe's most delusional self absorbed being ever. The audacity of him. The unbelievable arrogance of him. It's crazy how well written this fool is because all I wanted to do was skip his titled chapters. Simply put, I completely hate this dude.
Chapter 23 61% before any sex happening is not acceptable for me when I read fantasy/paranormal romance. And it wasn't even enough. Barely a full scene. I don't read this genre for sexual tension and slow burn and small teasing scenes. Not cool and noted.
And while I'm digging Alaric, I really don't like how the authors have written his words. Is it a Scottish brogue? Is it supposed to be a mix of how pirates talk? It's one of the worst I've ever read. It's unnecessarily convoluted. And I love a good "lass, tae, doona, aye" etc.
Chapter 30 79% King Regis is a piece of crap. I hope Kane twists his head off his neck one day soon. Or Alaric eats his throat and heart. Or Eva chops him into pieces.
Chapter 32 82% I hate this guy so much. Sloane and Graves are too stupid to live and should die immediately.
Chapter 33 84% long time since that (very mild) sex scene and now they finally have sex. Mediocre scene for me.
Chapter 35 91% I'm starting to think that ONE sex scene is going to be it.
UGH a cliffhanger. I despise cliffhangers unless I know beforehand and the next book is available. Not the case on both fronts as this was an ARC and debut novel. No idea how long the wait until book 2, but I won't be continuing anyways.
In conclusion, interesting story but no sex and I'm not invested so I'm out. This was basically a YA novel in my opinion and I don't read those. I wanted to DNF around 30% because of nothing happening. Again at 50%. I would've 100% DNF this book if not an ARC for review. That is not to say it wasn't well written by any means. I just prefer way more sex in my fantasy/paranormal reads instead of plot and world building. If you want plot, intrigue, slow burn and sexual tension, you'll likely enjoy the world these authors have created.

Honestly I’m still processing the last 15% of this book and the ending was such a cliffhanger 😵💫😵💫
This was such an amazing fantasy debut novel & it took awhile for me to get into it 😅 it was a slowburn but the worldbuilding really got into it. I’m so glad I went in blind going into this tho 👀
We have Evangelia aka Eva/Eve, who is part of a rebellion village. I’m going to be vague and shit happens & she somehow ends up getting captured by crown heir of the kingdom (Kai).
Along the way, we meet his twin Kane (hello ily) and the general Alaric (me and my Scottish men).
I love the tension between Eva, Kane & Alaric 🤪 (omg it took awhile to even get to my fave spicy scenes). But I’m glad we were able to establish some of the puzzle pieces that I was questioning about earlier in the book.
@ Mikaela & Andi, can you add Axel to the harem because the more the merrier 👀👀 just putting that out there.
I am both a Kane & Alaric girl even tho I was head empty, Alaric only 😂 Kane really hooked into me after some certain scenes 🥴

Cool new world, cool characters and creatures! I’d like to get my hands on a Thrakos. 😈 the imagery was so well done in this, I can’t wait to discover more as this series goes on.
Elikai reminds me of Gaston and Joffrey in one. He’s hilariously flamboyant but also such a 🤬🤬. Great written villain that definitely started to suck me in more and more towards the end of me wanting to punch him in the throat. 😅

I don't even know where to start or what to say. This book is so good. I LOVE it so much!
Evangelia is a badass and I love her character. She's the girl I always wished I was. She's kind, smart, funny, and she takes no bullshit from anyone. Nekane is sweet, loyal, and endearing with a possessive side that has you drooling over him as you fall in love with his character. Alaric is strong and secretive, protective and bossy. He's so sexy. Everytime he pinned 'Angel' to the mat I nearly swooned. Elikai is shocking to say the least. His thoughts had me stunned and even laughing out loud in surprise at parts of the story.
I loved everything about this book. From the charcters, to the land, to the creatures that inhabit their world. I absolutely can not wait to learn more about Dezrothia. I recommend this book to anyone that likes fantasy, badass female leads, mmf relationships, laugh out loud moments, swoon worthy book boyfriends, and of course eggs.
Also there were some Beauty and the Beast references that had me squealing with excitement. Belle is my favorite princess and it was fun to see those little snippets.

Sanity? Haha what's that. And finally with falling absolutely in love with a book series so much only to be shocked in a terrifying cliffhanger of all cliffhangers..Then this is absolutely the book for you. I am blown away by this world and utterly shell-shocked at the thought of having to be patient until book 2. It takes a lot to grip me into a story so heavily, it doesn't happen often. But as I sit here typing, I can't stop reliving what I just read. I'm not ready to step out of Dezrothia.

2 Days. 2 days is all it took for me to read and start to obsess over this book. Should I have just finished it before going to bed? YES. I laid in bed thinking about what could possibly happen for the last 25% of the book that I should have just gotten up and finished it. Would I have been happy after? NO! Oh and that cliffy!?! What was that about? How do you end on that? I need to know what happens to my favorite peeps! Now I have to wait "patiently" until book 2? I don't think so.
Evangelia...I love that she is picking her battles and trying to find the best way to proceed in her mission. Not to mention her choice of weapon, Mayhem and Chaos! YES!! I have so many ideas as to what I think her truth is, even if she has no clue yet.
The guys are grouped into the good and the bad. For good guys, we have Nix, NeKane, Alaric and Axel. Each one has a soft spot in my heart and I can't wait to see how they grow in the next book. Nix is like Eva's little brother. She is drawn to NeKane and Alaric. Plus the relationship that they have with each other is so sweet! Axel is one of the guys that Alaric trusts and I love the relationship they have as they pick on each other, it almost seems like a brotherly way. The bad guys, EliKai, Graves and Sloane. Oh and the king as well. These are the guys that you hope disappear on hunting trips. So expect the worst.

Beyond Amazing!!
This book pulls you in has you wanting everything! There are so many emotions and questions that have you addicted to the words in these pages. The characters are all so different yet the way they interact has your heart beating with anticipation of what it to come. These authors created a new world for me to be obsessed with and I will not so patiently be waiting for book two! Seriously dive right in and enjoy!

Have the coffee ready, because this is a „ once you start it, can’t put it down“ kind of a book, it is addicting, the best kind of way.
The universe these ladies designed is stunning. Dezrothia is a fantasy realm, home to an array of mystical creatures, like fae, shifters, witches, and warlocks. It is ruled by a cruel, unmerciful King, who maintains his dominance by trying to eradicate the creatures more powerful than him. Fleeing the King's wrath, the oppressed creatures formed a Rebel Resistance and took hiding in the most remote lands of the kingdom. The story begins when Evangelia, a Rebel, is captured by the King’s hoard and taken to the Capital.
Head-on, the premise of this story is alluring, and the way this fantasy world is built is mesmerizing.
But equally fascinating are the characters. Evangelia, Kane, Kai, Alaric…rough sketched in the beginning, the more we dig into the story, the more faces of each character we distinguish.

A couple words for this book: amazing, beautiful, addictive. The authors did a wonderful job with character development and relationships. If you love a book that makes you laugh, feeling so many ranges of emotions, leaves you guessing and sucks you into a whole different, wonderful world then this book is for you! So many feelings.. I'm so excited for the next book.

First off, as the debut novel for both of the authors an appropriate standing ovation is needed. Absolute chefs kiss of a book for these two!!! That being said, I hate you both for that ending & as a result I pledge to read everything either of you two ever write, yes I realize I am a glutton for punishment.
The world that was created is seriously amazing, the villain is someone you absolutely enjoy hating, especially as the book goes on. Evangelia is such an amazing female lead, she is strong and fierce & I loved following her journey throughout this world.
I will be sitting here waiting for book two as I cannot wait to see where this world goes.

Well that’s one way to kick start a series…. I really liked this book, I enjoyed getting to met the characters, and I’ve been left me with a lot of questions! That I’m hoping/ looking forward to finding out in book 2..

I’m going with 3 ⭐️ here.
It was an easy read, not a bad story, but just so many issues.
1. So many points of views were distracting.
2. The MFC starts off as a badass and then just all of a sudden isn’t. It’s weird. Then she trains and is one again, but not really?
3. The characters are written with teenage mentalities. Like ALL of them. They talk like teenagers. Act like teenagers. Think like teenagers, yet none are teenagers. It becomes obnoxious.
4. I’ve never had a problem with MMF before, but the MM sexual relationship was just uncomfortable. A centuries old general and mentor to a 25 year old prince suddenly becomes sexually interested in him? When he wasn’t before? When they’ve been like brothers? Totally weird and uncomfortable.
5. MFC is a virgin and is immediately in a fuckfest? And engaged to someone else? Yeahhhhh that’s a no for me no matter how much of a pompous ass the betrothed is.
6. Currently reading book 2 and these things are now grating on my nerves. I find they are taking away from the story. Not only did we have 4 points of views in the first book, now there are more added to that. I find myself skipping a lot. Not sure I’ll have it in me to read book 3.

I’m not even sure where to begin reviewing this book. It was such an amazing read. I was completely invested before even finishing the first chapter. The characters and world are all written so well! I can’t wait to continue reading more from the world of Dezrothia.

I absolutely fell in love with the world of Dezrothia (and Kane 😍) in this stunning debut. Evangelia is a strong female lead that also has a mystery behind her - who and what is she? Why is she important? So many questions!!!!
The captivating male leads, Kane and Alaric, are steamy and swoon-worthy (thanks for nothing, Axel). Again, sooo many questions!! There’s something more to Alaric and there’s wayyyyy more to Kane. Edge of the seat and I’m wracking my brain for answers, re-reading snippets to try to solve this mystery. What a tangled web these authors have woven for the readers. I have theories for my theories.
And Kai? Ughhhhh. I love a good antagonist but this man is positively infuriating. But I might love him? But I think I should hate him? But maybe I love him? Time will tell.
And the ending?!?!?!?! What the what? How can you leave us like this? 😩😳
MC Colgan and AC Lawlor have built a fantastic and beautiful world in the land of Dezrothia with a King whose cruelty and arrogance knows no bounds. Will this kingdom rise or fall? And who will be the ones to save it? I need to know. I don’t often demand the next book in a series, but I’m gonna need this asap.
The steam is steamy, and the story complex and character-driven. READ THIS BOOK. Get on the Dezrothia train now, because you will have regrets later if you don’t.
I will re-read this several times seeking answers and just enjoying the story as it unravels and yet, reveals only more questions. This is a book I wish that I could experience for the first time over and over again.
An egg-cellent read and a forking good time (iykyk).

The ending?!?!?!?!?! Send help I’m dying.
This book is incredible, I loved every second of it.
Eva is such strong FMC, i loved her so much. I wish she would have told Kane and Alaric what was actually happening. But hindsight is 20/20.
Kane and Alaric … oh boy they are delicious. Both of them are strong MMC’s. You end up feeling so terrible for Kane and how he is treated by his father. It’s truly horrible the things Kane had to deal with while his brother was completely fine and drooling after his fathers crown. I loved Alaric as well, but he is clearly hiding something that could be detrimental. He is brute in the best sense of the word. Still sneaky though. I cant wait to find out what he is hiding.
Kai… ew. Let me just throw up real quick. I really and truly hate Kai if I’m honest. He was too much for me. He calls his father mad, but in all honesty they are both on the same level. Both of them are terrible people, and rulers. I hope Kai gets what he deserves in the next book honestly.
The ending… oh boy. When I tell my jaw dropped, it was fully dropped. I stopped breathing. Of course Kai would do something like that, and leave Kane to suffer once again. If you have read this book, you know what I’m talking about. My only hope is that Alaric believes Kane and something can be done about that idiot Kai.
Overall I loved this book completely. It’s in my top 5, for 2023 so far. This book is a 20/10! 100% recommend!

I binge read this book in less than 24 hours!! Evangelia was amazing, too often these main female characters in fantasy genres are weak and this girl is STRONG. And the two lead male characters, Kane and Alaric? YUM! Love them so much. The obvious villains were Elikai, his stupid lackies and the king and DANG did I freaking DESPISE them. I love when books make me have strong feelings.
I absolutely loved this book and would have given it 5 stars if it weren’t for three things:
1. This was pushed as an MMF romance (SMUT) book and there was 2.. well more like 1.5 scenes in the 400+ pages.. umm.. I needed MORE! The tension was amazing but I was left wanting more and more.
2. Alaric clearly has an accent and I’ve seen it written before in other books but dear lord it was SO DIFFICULT to follow along when he had dialogue. It dang near gave me a headache trying to decipher what he was saying at times. I even showed my husband in frustration and he thought it was ridiculous too. I love me some Alaric, but it was so hard to read his dialogue and it made his chapters unenjoyable. I audibly groaned when it was his chapters! I love his mind and am so grateful the authors decided not to use that dialect in his thoughts, or it would’ve been a DNF from me.
3. And lastly.. there was no warning of how crazy that cliffhanger was going to be!! OMG! Please tell me the wait isn’t that long for book #2 or I will go crazier than I already am!
All in all I loved this book, and am happily giving it 4 stars! This was a GREAT debut from you two ladies, and I hope you’re proud of the world you created that I THOROUGHLY enjoyed. Can’t wait for the next book!! See y’all in the Cliterature FB group!

Welcome to the world of Dezrothia, once you step in you will not want to leave! I read this book in one sitting! It takes a special kind of book to hold my attention like that, being a mood reader that reads like 20 books at a time lol. But I picked this up and didn't put it down until the very last page! Evangeline drove me nuts here and there but I love her and I am absolutely obsessed with Kane and Alaric. Not to mention that this book is the first ever book that had a character with my name (Krista) in it so that got even more bonus points! The cliffhanger killed me but I am dying for book 2 now, I can't wait to continue this story!
