Have you ever had the person you were meant to love reject you? I have, and honestly? It sucks. Alex Dunn was supposed to be my mate, but I have a past, and he kicked me to the curb as soon as he learned about it. So much for fate.
How did I handle it? I ran away, searching for a place where I could just be Amber, instead of Amber Tremaine, Homewrecker. But the new life I built for myself came crashing down when my dad died. While reeling from the loss, I have to face the pack that hates me and the mate that rejected me, and honestly, I am so not ready.
When I return, some things are exactly as I expected, but others are wildly different. For one, Alex is… nice to me. The way he’s acting tells me he might want to give us a try. However, from the things I’ve been hearing, he has a new woman in his bed every night. Couple that with the fact that he shamed me for sleeping around? Trusting his sincerity is pretty impossible.
Not that I have much time to process my ex-mate’s strange behavior, because my past is coming back to bite me again—literally this time.
Lyle is the vampire who took my v card, which would have been much more enjoyable if he hadn’t tried to murder me right after. Nobody is perfect, right?
His failure to kill me has turned into a creepy obsession that spells out danger for me, my pack, and the entire werewolf species as a whole. The only person who can save us all? Yeah, you guessed it. It’s me—the girl who messes up everything. No pressure.
Morgan Elliott is a dreamer, lover, and believer in all things romance. When she’s not busy being a mother to her five children and wife to her very own soul mate, you can usually find her in her writing cave weaving together spicy stories with strong female leads and the men who fall hard for them. Morgan wholeheartedly believes everyone deserves a happily ever after, she strives to create one for every character that lives rent free in her imagination.
I’m having a total book hangover moment and have no clue where to start with this review so here we go.
After reading the first book I was pretty much biting-at-the-bit to get my hands on this one. I had to see how the author was going to redeem the h when she didn’t seem redeemable. I actually felt bad for the H having her for a mate and couldn’t see how it was ever going to work between them. But after reading this book…yahhhh…everything I felt towards these two characters totally flip-flopped.
From the first page to the last I totally fell in love with the h. She owned up to what she did in the first book and became a total bada$$. She changed for the better, and the best part is, she did it for herself and not for anyone else.
The H on the other hand pi$$ed me off in the beginning (only the beginning and sorry for the language but he did). His choices for moving on/getting over the h wasn’t my cuppa and made me question if he even deserved her. I’m glad she didn’t make it easy on him and how he groveled to get her back. And boy did he grovel *enter evil laugh here*.
I will say I no longer questioned if they were right for each other because I realized that they were. They’re each other’s soul mate. And I’m shocked to admit this but I’m glad they separated. They both needed to be apart to really find themselves (especially the h) and I think they both knew that in order to get the second chance they both deserved.
As for the rest of the book, it was a roller coaster ride of emotions. My feelings were pretty much all over the place and let me tell ya, I even shedded a tear or two. But don’t worry, the main characters get a really cute HEA and we get a little drama from the side characters throughout the story that sets us up for the next book, so I’m happy.
Now, this book starts off where Book 1 ended so IMO I would highly suggest reading this series in order. There’s a lot of characters that were introduced in book 1 that are in this one and it can get a little confusing if you didn’t know who they are. Plus, you’ll get a better understanding of what happened between the H and h.
Okay. Im gonna stop rambling now but if you couldn’t already tell I totally recommend this book/series. I really did enjoy it and can’t wait for the next book to come out.
I so loved this book... I haven't read the first one yet but I think it is still ok as the backstory is somehow explained. Although, It might be worth reading them in order as I understand the second book gives the heroine an excellent redemption. The heroine had a very difficult past and I love the fact that the author makes her say out loud that it wasn't just her fault. It takes two tango and yet she was the one accused as a homewrecker and a wh0re. Of course not all stories are the same and in another books I'm usually equally annoyed with the women that help the cheater but in this case, she was a victim.
I enjoyed that the hero was tormented with his choice. Served him right to suffer a bit 🤭
The story is heartbreaking(even if it's PNR), but with a HEA and the pace and explanation of the backstory is given with great rythm.
So excited to read this book, I absolutely loved book one in this series and was not disappointed! I love how this book was built. The FMC development through this book was wonderful, I did not like her AT ALL at the end of book one. I just loved all the characters, and the world building was on point. I am very much looking forward to the next book! Thank you, Morgan, for another wonderful story! I read this book as an ARC.
I received this book early for free and am leaving this review voluntarily. Midnight Sin is a book ready to suck you in and hold you at the edge of the seat. I will say I usually don’t go for the second chance rejected mate stories because can you really give someone who knows beyond the shadow of a doubt you are made for them but still throws you away a second chance? I think not, but Morgan has somehow (probably through magic) found a way to make me root for the idiot rejector and wanting both parties to fall back together. I was incredibly surprised how much I loved Alex even after he hurt Amber so deeply. I laughed, I cried, but I could not put this book down until I finished it. The characters just jump off the page and make you want to read it all in one sitting. Definitely worth the read!
MidNight Sin the second installment 🔥🔥🔥 Easy read, This one is about Amber from Onyx Flame the drama queen and crap starter, Fast Pace, if you like shifters from different runs of life and different P.O.V. not just one then this book hits it. It is very entertaining!
I am a huge fan of Morgan Elliott’s shifter romances and was so excited to get my hands on an ARC copy of Midnight Sin! This second book of the series tells the story of bad girl Amber, whose pattern of sleeping with guys who were taken in book one didn’t make her a lot of friends… and cost her the relationship with her mate, Alex, the Gamma of the Onyx Flame pack. But there’s more to Amber’s story than meets the eye and she’s been through a lot of trauma in her past that explains some of her choices. I really connected with Amber the more I read about her and began to understand her choices. She and Alex are broken up during the first part of the book and she’s living in a separate pack. There’s also a lot going on with regards to the urban fantasy front with female shifters getting abducted and a particularly evil vampire named Lyle who was just a delicious character to read on page. I always enjoy books with lots of *drama* and MIDNIGHT SIN has it in spades with misunderstandings, steamy scenes, people sleeping with each other and then getting territorial, savage betrayals, and everyone trying to assert their romantic territory. It’s just an awesome new adult read with everything I love in it. Lots of great side characters. I especially liked Jack and Holly in this one. As things escalate (no spoilers) the book takes you on a really fun thrill ride with some surprise twists. I’m excited to see there will be a third book in the works!
I received a complimentary copy of Midnight Sin from the author. This is my honest and voluntary review.
This story has a lot of twists and turns and is as angsty as the blurb. Wolf shifters, vampires, witches, and mysterious histories, Elliott brings them all to the page in this story of betrayal, friendship, second chances, secrets, and redemption.
This spicy page-turner is loaded with characters with depth and heart and themes of worthiness and trust. There are lots of potential Easter eggs I hope the author will hatch in future works.
Midnight Sins is book 2 in the Onyx Flame series but stands alone with its own complete HEA and plenty of room to expand but no cliffhanger.
Morgan Elliott is a new author but certainly one to watch. I look forward to her next book. And I recommend Midnight Sin to readers who crave a satisfying PNR read that doesn’t require you to learn a new language.
