"I am losing all the little things that make me who I am..."

Brody Aritza was lost to the Wild Dark when he was killed in the line of duty. But then something happened. The thin wall between life and death parted and he found his way back, back to the woman he loved. It wasn't right though: he was dead and she was alive and they couldn't be together. But he found a way to fix it. He could possess others to keep her safe and maybe...maybe they could be together after all.

Orchards takes place after the shocking conclusion of THE WILD DARK. Thrust into darkness once more, Brody must sift through time and memory as he clings to what little pieces of humanity remain in his ruinous soul. This short story will leave readers hungry for THE WILD FALL: Book Two of The Wild Oblivion, coming in 2023.

Katherine Silva was awesome enough to send me a copy of her novellete 'Orchards' for review. After reading her phenomenal debut novel 'The Wild Dark', I was more than excited to dive into this one.

'Orchards' takes place after the shocking finale of 'The Wild Dark' . The story follows Brody Aritza into the darkness, on his efforts to sift through time and memory as he clings to what little pieces of humanity remain in his ruinous soul.

He was lost to the Wild Dark when he was killed in the line of duty but fate led him back to the woman he loved. Separated by life and death, he managed to find a way to keep her safe with the hope of them being together again.

A wonderful, heartbreaking, weird and mysterious terrifier that expands the boundaries of reality and further builds the world of an already magnificent story found in 'The Wild Dark'.

Katherine Silva has the ability to portray the feelings of despair, loneliness and terror into beautiful scenes on a backdrop of isolation and tattoo a fantastic story so beep under the skin, that will stay with you for quite some time after reading.

This beautiful little story left me eager for the new release THE WILD FALL: Book Two of The Wild Oblivion, coming in 2023.

This unique short story brings the readers down a very dark road that contain memories, feelings and the fears of Brody Aritza as he passes through the veil between life and death. The author uses poetry throughout that gives the reader a feeling of the horror, the confusion of what’s happening to Brody! I so enjoyed the The Wild Dark and feel this ties into that story. In my opinion this could pique readers interest into grabbing up The Wild Dark.

Closure.
A beautiful flashback on the life of Brody. Snapshots poetically written with the heart, as memories and regrets flow with the lifeblood pooling on the page.

An addendum to The Wild Dark from Brody's point of view. These characters got under my skin. The formatting here adds so much to what is happening to him.

I've had questions about whether or not ORCHARDS is a stand-alone piece. It takes place immediately after the events of THE WILD DARK and contains spoilers for that book. Here's what you can expect: poetry and prose, stark black and white photography, unspooling threads of darkness and fighting through misplaced memory. Fans of unusual formatting and descriptive typography will enjoy!

Orchards by Katherine Silva is a quick short story in The Wild Oblivion world filled with darkness, terror, confusion, and desperation.

What a quick and unnerving read! I read quickly, my eyes absolutely flying over the pages to absorb all of the information as fast as I could. I felt a level of desperation right along with the character; as much as he wanted to break out of the darkness, I wanted to see more within!

I would recommend this to horror fans that have already read The Wild Dark. Having the appropriate level of context is super helpful with this one.
