Simplicity

Rate this book
Mental breakdowns are not afforded by the poor, only the rich get the ability to break down.

I spend my days serving grandmas after bingo and families after soccer practice at the greasy spoon by my house. At night, I use my voice to address the masses and give my take on the most infamous serial killers ever.

On Halloween night, dressed as a mobster’s wife, my life changes when the Mysterious C walks into the diner looking like sex on a stick wrapped in a cloud of sadness. I offer him something simple. Kindness. This kindness leads me into a world unlike anything I could have ever thought would be mine.

As the days bleed and I become more immersed in the Maxwell men, I start to wonder when the other shoe will drop, when the too good to be true becomes too much to be real.

You know what they say about what goes up…it always comes down.

Skylar is always working and she’s taking care of her mom. She is a genuine nice person who is going through a hard time, but still helps others. Connor goes to the restaurant and orders coffee. She can tell he looks sad so she gives him a slice of pie. Skylar doesn’t realize her life is about to get complicated. Great characters and storyline Amazing book. This book was spicy and mysterious. Ended with a cliffhanger can’t wait for the next book.

This book, as far as I read, was all over the place.

It starts with one of the brothers coming into her diner where she shows him kindness, kind of. And from that one interaction, all of his brothers become infatuated with her.
Aside from the prologue, everything is in her POV, so we don’t really get anything from the Maxwells other than the few interactions she has with them. What about her makes them think she’d be willing to have them, five different men who seemingly are identical, share her? It just doesn’t make sense to me.

Also, I was kind of annoyed by how she basically spent an entire chapter giving us the history of Eileen Wuornos. I get it was her podcast, but it felt more like filler to me.

Anyways. DNF @ 66%. This could have been a lot better if it was organized a little better? Maybe include POVs of the Maxwell guys so we can kind of understand what’s going on rather than having them randomly show up and boink her, or declare that she wanted by all the brothers (while also not explaining why)…

I really enjoyed Simplicity! This one is told in Skylar's POV and book two will be all the brothers, which I am diving into now.

Skylar is a good person, she is down on her luck time and time again, but ALWAYS puts people before her. She is so kind to anyone and everyone. The way she treats strangers is something we can all learn from. You never know who is having a worse day than you.

The men 👀👀👀 HOLY COW. They are just *sigh* Duplicity is told in their POV and I am excited to get inside their brains...

What a ride! Skylar is just trying to take care of her mom and be kind to those down on their luck. When she catches the eye of the Maxwell brothers. They all want her, but is she willing to give in?
The perfect start to a duet that leaves you wanting more.
I received an ARC and this is my honest review.

This book was SO CAPTIVATING. I could not put it down. You get caught up in what you "think" is going on, but second, guess yourself throughout the whole book. Loved the dynamics of all her RH men. Without spoilers, just say there are a couple major twists that get you .... her family, who is in the basement, who the "C"s are ..... cannot wait for book 2 to see how this plays out. Fabulous theme, want more !!!! Spicey, hot RH men, yum hum.

This baby kept me guessing. She is short at like just over 100 pages so a quick easy but spicy and dark read. Like if you got triggers...check them before reading. It was bomb as hell and I really can't go into much detail without spoilers I did drop into the author DMS yelling like WTH I think I know what is happening...

and then that ending!!!! HOW DARE YALL

Storyline 🫀🫀🫀🫀

This one was fabulous. Part one of the duo and Whitnay PULLED me in with her writing and skillful character building. I had my thoughts and ideas about what I thought was going on but truly had doubts throughout the book. The twists, turns, banter, and everything in between? Fabulous. Don't forget the spice. Amazing!
