“I got her and everything that comes with her. All the good, bad, and crazy, I’ll be taking. Anything she needs, consider it hers and with her in my life, I’ll forever be whole.” — Genesis Washington
Putting herself first is what Jordana Evans knows how to do best. She’s at the top of her game in her career and no longer haunted by memories of her past threatening to steal her joy. In her mind, being in love is a want, not a need and she’s convinced that she’ll be just fine without it. Having intimate relations with the opposite sex is something she’s willing to do for one night only. But then came along… him.
Being the son of a hood legend means absolutely nothing to Genesis Washington. His only priorities are taking care of the two people who have his heart – his sister and his nephew – and running the multimillion dollar company that keeps his pockets fat. Juggling love and business just never made sense to a man like him so he chose the latter. But crossing paths with Jordana Evans suddenly changes everything for him and she becomes the only woman he wants. And he isn’t the type of man who shies away from whatever he desires.
When Jordana and Genesis lay eyes on each other, they’re unable to fight off the feelings that form from their very first encounter. What starts off as a onetime thing quickly turns into an addiction neither of them can get enough of, but the pain of Jordana’s past has her determined to keep their new arrangement strictly between the sheets. Can Genesis truly be the one to ease Jordana’s heavily guarded heart or will family do more damage to Genesis and Jordana before they fully have the chance to prosper?
Miss Jenesequa’s romance novels are known for their powerful and convincing storylines filled with love, drama, and passion. If you’re eager to explore unique and captivating stories, she’s the indie author for you.
It's just something about this story that didn't connect with me. It was too wordy. So many unnecessary details that didn't add anything to the story. It's like we were told the details of every character mentioned. I don't need the background story on clients, friends, neighbors, grandparents…etc I found myself bored and uninterested after after a while.
When Genesis told Jordana, “I got you” that’s exactly what he meant. I absolutely loved how this man held her down and wanted nothing other than to be her peace. From the moment he met Jordana, the only thing on Genesis’ agenda was to love and protect her. Jordana, however, needed a little more convincing. After having her heart broken in her previous relationship, love is the last thing she’s looking for. When she and Genesis meet, the chemistry and attraction are there so she’s more than willing to partake in some one-night stand activities. I loved how sexually liberated Jordana was. Sis was bold and she was not ashamed to ask for what she wanted, how she wanted it, or where she wanted it. When she called herself trying to ghost Genesis after their night together, he had to show Jordana just how strong his pull up game was. He knew she was it for him so, Genesis was going to get Jordana on board by any means necessary. While there’s some mild angst and family drama, I like how uncomplicated their love story was. The family dynamics gave me all the feels. I adored Genesis’ relationship with his sister and nephew, and I love how protective Jordana’s brothers were. They may have been a little too protective. I was givin’ Mathias the side eye from the moment he came on the scene. Something about that man just rubbed me the wrong way. Unc apparently forgot who his nephew was but, Genesis had no problem reminding him. I just hate we didn't find out what happened with Jordana's ex. The email he sent to her was never brought up again so, did Gabbi ever tell Destiny about the email? I wanted to know if she was going to stay or leave his trash azz. I Got you was a great read. It was sexy, sweet, funny, and the sex scenes were beyond pearl clutching. I absolutely loved Jordana and Genesis’ love journey. It was the perfect amount of everything needed for a great love story.
Where can I get me a Genesis??? This story was good and full of spice!! Jordana and Genesis were such a cute couple. Now for the audio performance, whew!!! I’ve listened to A LOT of Jakobi narrated books and this one was up there with the best he has done. WHEW!!! I also enjoyed the female narrator. I thought she did a really good job. I’m trying to get better at comparing all of them to Wesleigh LOL! If you like 🌶️, listen to this book!!
Second listen: Ok… I’m changing to my rating to 5⭐️.
I really enjoyed this story…Jodana & Genesis were a super sexy couple….the two of them got it popping immediately! The way Genesis loved Jordan’s and the way he wanted to care for her was palpable….you could feel it…especially the way Jakobi delivered this story….The female narration was actually good too….Now, Miss Jenesequa I’m thinking perhaps Gabrielle and young Ki can have a love story with one of the Evans Brothers. That would make for another great love story and audiobook.
*sigh* … unfortunately, I just couldn’t finish this. 3 words… FLUFF, cliche, juvenile. This was my first read by this author and probably the last. I may be interested in a story with the side character like Charlie and Dane or even Gabrielle, but this one was not it. Whew chiii, I’m disappointed.
“I Got You” was not at all what I thought it’d be. I was expecting drama on top of drama. Like gůns, cheating, drugs. But what I got was romance. This book was submerged and drenched in love and romance. I’ve never seen anyone fall as quickly as Genesis did. It was so immediate how he fell for Jordana. This was beyond love at first sight. That’s how quick it happened. And he fell HARD too. Their compatibility and chemistry was off the charts. They were so compatible, they even think the same when it came to whether or not there could be more than sex between them. But after it was laid on the table, it. was. on. popping… Even before it was official. They were like bunny rabbits. Nonstop going at it. She’s like that one song by Petey Pablo, Freek-a-Leek. She said, he can put it in pusshy, in her aśs, she’ll take it on the floor, on the chair, missionary, she’ll take it over here, she’ll take it over there. Anyway he liked he could have. Jordana gave shy vibes, but she really wasn’t. She was sexually free and was not afraid to let him know. But this was a just one big love story. The drama was minimal (but it was a little juvenile imo). The whole thing with Kymani came and went so quick, same thing with the trifling ex. But, I welcomed it. Genesis told Jordana that he got her and he most definitely had her. He loved her sooo hard with every fiber in him. I’ve never met a man who loved to be sluted out as much as Genesis did. If y'all can’t tell, I LOVED THIS. First time reading this author and I’ll most def. be back. So clearly I recommend this one. 4.8⭐️
This book was so good!!! I wasn’t a good 20% in and already knew I was going to love Genesis and Jordana’s story! The author did the her thing with I Got You and I am just in awe at the storyline and the characters. Genesis is a whole man!!! A caring, gentle, family oriented, no-nonsense, leading man.. whew we are not worthy!! When he first laid eyes on Jordana he wanted to protect and love her and I was here for it! I loved that he wasn’t the stereotypical male character- he truly knew that Jordana was it for him and he accepted nothing less. I loved what the author did with Jordana’s character. Listen, she wasn’t ashamed to tell Genesis what she wanted and how she wanted, “it!” Listen, I was legit clinching my pearls and legs because wow!!! 🥵they definitely didn’t hold back- that’s all I can say. I absolutely devoured this book, these characters are my favorites. They could do jo wrong!!! Job well done, miss ma’am! Please do yourself a favor and get experience Genesis and Jordana!!❤️
The story started out at a slow pace as we watched the two leads denying their feelings and fooling themselves that they were only having "fun". Once they opened themselves to love, the pace picked up and some action and drama were included. It was nice to see a committed couple that knew how to communicate with each other (after they opened their hearts to love). Their communication was their strength. While I love a good HEA I would recommend refraining from multiple epilouges especially in this story. Genesis was definitely bae and Jordana was boss diva!
The cover is what attracted me to the book. I don’t read the synopsis I just jumped write in. The story had a lot of potential but there really wasn’t much character development. The spicy 🌶 scenes were plentiful but I didn’t enjoy them as much as I would have liked to. The overall lack of development left me unable to connect with the characters but the overall storyline was interesting. The 3 epilogues should have been condensed to 1 because the timeline of her pregnancy and the baby ages did not line up. I really wanted to love this book based on the cover alone but I was slightly disappointed
This is my first book by this author, and I'm hooked. The relationship between Jordana and Genesis was really interesting. The Evans men are going on my book bae list.
things i didn’t love: Genesis is literally the perfect man but i’m afraid he was a bit TOO perfect. there were literally no flaws in his character which didn’t really allow for character development for him. i also felt like a lot of the chapters were repetitive and just word vomit, for lack of a better word. and i wish the chapters were broken up more because that made it hard for me to follow along and not get bored. 😭
things i loved: the fact that it’s a story about Black love ofc 😙🤌🏾 Genesis and Jordana had amazing chemistry. i loved how he said he would take care of her and he did.
It was boring with a lot of sex scene fluff. It just didn't do it for me. I don't understand why it needed to be so long with no real progression. Just a lot of thoughts on paper.
Jordana & Genesis was too adorable…BDE throughout this whole book, loved he didn’t back down from her bother but whooped his ass 🤣🤣…when a lady says slut me this is what she means 😏😏….the uncle and kymani got what they deserved.
I’m so sick of falling in love with fictional characters!!!
Whew child, I just know Genesis is fine. Ok, now that I got that out of my system…
This book follows two main characters Jordana and Genesis. Jordana is a hair stylist who meets the brother of one of his client’s during a house call. The rest….is history! Their individual stories are very well developed and entertaining.
Without giving too much away, Genesis is walking a straight path because he knows what things could be like if he followed in his father's foot steps. He learns that a family member is out to ruin him from something Jordana overheard.
If you're looking for a spicy, whirlwind romance with a happy ending...this is your book!
This was a cute romantic love story. When you’re scared to let down your guards because of past trauma you could really miss out on your soulmate. Glad Genesis and Jordana were able to see past each others flaws and help each other heal 🥰
This book was really good. There was definitely times when Jordana got on my nerves when it came to her relationship with Genesis. She had been hurt before and did not know how to trust him. Genesis was a great guy, I enjoyed his character.
Wow, I would like to say this is the second best Romantic read I have read this year. The chemistry between Genesis and Jordana was Undeniable. This Novel would make you want to fall Madly in love. This was my first read by this Author but want be my last love the journey she took me on with these Characters.
This was a long book for me. I'm sure it's short for others though. It was 405 Kindle pages. It took until around 280 pages for them to realize they weren't just f_-k buddies but actually cared for each other. I like slow burns but not that slow.
There were many times that it felt like the author began narrating the book as a movie. It was like there was the regular kind of narration and then on top of that there was a separate narration. There was also a lot of unnecessary explanations for things, or double explanations. There's a scene where they hook up and it's messy. She falls asleep and then wakes up clean. We understand from that scene that he must have cleaned her up. But she explains that he cleaned her up and then explains it in another way right after.
The part where his Jordana overhears his uncle seems extremely unrealistic and was difficult to read through and find it to be a believable situation that would actually happen. I also wasn't a fan of him sleeping with an employee with an NDA. The situation with her coworker also felt really unnecessary to advance the story. It felt really random and happened so quick. Toward the end there were a lot of quick, major issues and then quick solutions.
Three epilogues is a lot to put in a book. It reminded me of the ending of movies where they have this, "where are they now" kind of after the ending, ending. You'll see them getting married, having kids, traveling, opening a store or whatever. I feel like with the 400+ pages that were written we could have seen the 3 epilogues included in it. Or we could have seen it all combined into one epilogue.
I also didn't like the kingpin aspect of the book either. This could have been a story about a successful Black man and Black woman who thrived in their businesses and found love with one another.
If you're interested in a SPICY book then this is the one for you. At times I skipped through some of the spice because it was too much for me lol. It was definitely that NASTY kind of spicy for sure. ;) There's also a lot of cursing so if that's a no no for you then keep that in mind.
🗣Where the restaurant owners at?!? Genesis!! You lived up to the meaning of your name through and through because you were the “origin” or blueprint of what it meant to be a provider, homie, lover, friend, confidant…alladat!
Genesis was a successful restaurant owner raking in 8+ figures a year! We love hood n!gg@$ but will definitely take one’s bringing in money the legal way too 🤣🫣. Genesis was a boss by a boss’s standard and lived life on his terms while providing for his sister and nephew. He had everything he could have imagined except a partner to share that life with! When he least expected, hairstylist Jordana came and rocked his world!
Jordana was a successful hairstylist that worked her magic on the daily. She was the sweetest most nurturing soul but one thing she didn’t do was catch feelings. She experienced the ultimate betrayal and refused to allow another man to invade her heart. Despite Genesis being everything thing she could only dream of she initially refused to start a relationship with him. They both agree to a strictly sexual relationship and hunny they slutted each other out this entire book. Whew. 🥵💦🌶 I needed a shower after a few of these scenes.
You will not be disappointed embarking on this journey with these two! The book was filled with spice, drama, and love! I especially loved the family dynamics in the book! Jordana and her 3 fathers were something else 🤣😩! Numb and Charlie were everything! I’d love to get a story with Gabi ending up with one of Jordana’s brothers 😁🥰
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙 Spice:🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶 Action:👊🏽👊🏽👊🏽 Troupe: black romance / contemporary
This is the first 5 star rating in a while. The narration was great, with male & female narrators. Most contemporary stories are usually too boring for my taste however, this story had some interesting drama and action that kept my attention. Now, the spice was SPICY🥵 the dirty talk was a 10/10 and the chemistry between Genesis and Jordana was intense. If you’re looking for a black love story with spice and drama I highly recommend you give this book a try.
The MMC is the best representation of what a man should be and how he should treat his wife and family. I liked the story and the smut so much that I had to take breaks to get through some scenes.
I'm convinced Miss Jenny never misses! All the books I've read by her have been amazing, and this one is no exception. The men she writes about are always guaranteed to be swoon-worthy, and the love stories are always heartwarming.
Jordana is that girl! She is a hairstylist who is as booked and busy as she should be. She has this one client, Gabi, and her son Kaiser, whom she always has time for. Jordana is all about her career and is very focused on that. One day she makes a house call to do Kaiser's hair, and when she arrives, she meets Genesis, Gabi's brother. She instantly felt drawn to him but convinced herself that when she left, she would never see him again.
Genesis, my new book boyfriend, is a very very very successful restaurant owner. His restaurant is very popular. It is the place to be. He is a very caring person and loves to shower the people he cares about with his love and gifts. When he meets Jordana, he is drawn to her as well, but, just like Jordana, he doesn't think they will ever see each other again.
Fast forward: Genesis is having an event at his restaurant for one of his brand ambassadors, Charlie, who is a very popular influencer. She has helped the restaurant gain a lot of exposure. Jordana, who was invited to the event, is there waiting for Charlie to show up when she meets Genesis once again. They hit it off and spent the night together.
Then this girl tried to ghost him, and Genesis was having none of that! He really was like, I get what I want, and I want you by all means necessary. He persistently showed Jordana that he wasn't going anywhere and that he really wanted her in his life. Jordana's heart was broken in the past, which has caused her to be closed off to love and adopt a 'all men are trash' kind of attitude. But as she spent time with Genesis, she started to open up to him and let him in. Jordana, just like Genesis, is sweet and caring and is always looking out for the people around her.
The side characters were great. The family dynamics were lovely. Jordana's brothers were very protective of her, but their banter was hilarious. Genesis, Gabi, and Kaiser's relationship was so cute and made my heart melt. Also, Dane and Charlie were so cute. I need to know their story!
The story was good; it took a while to engage in the narrative. Some parts were suitable fillers, and others were quite enjoyable for such a long story. It was a good read. I liked Genesis and his convictions to be his own man despite others' opinions. Jordana was cute, with a lot of naivete in her thoughts. Together they will be someone to reckon with as a pair. 3.75 stars.
This book was so cute!! and spicy. I wasn’t expecting it to be so sweet 🥹🫶🏼 such a good story… i loved the assertive/aloha vibes from Genesis and how him and Jordana truly had each other’s backs! Also an enjoyable audiobook. Black narrators never fail me!! Can’t wait to read more from the author!
The story had potential and a few emotional moments that stood out, but the repetition throughout made it harder to stay fully engaged. Some scenes and dialogue felt like they were revisiting the same points, which slowed down the pacing. Still, the characters had heart, and the message of love and loyalty came through. With a bit more tightening, this could’ve been a stronger read.
5 stars! I loved every part of this book. You fall for Jordana and Genesis. I would love some books on Jordana’s brothers tho… they need some love in their life. Lol
