Disclaimer: NightEyes is a friend of mine and my review will be positively biased to ensure I don't fall off his Christmas card list.

I'll presume anyone reading this review is a member of, or is aware of, the furry community. If not, edumacate thineself.

Knotty Works is a collection of gay erotica. I use that term specifically. Yes, in a few, we get a quick introduction to the protagonists before they fuck each other silly, but in most of the stories we get more background on who these furry folks leading up to the carnal pleasures.

That for me is the appeal of the book and NightEyes' skill as an author. To make them not merely characters in porn, but people. People I got invested in. I am reminded of the excellent Omaha the Cat Dancer series. It started off as an excuse to draw naked sex, but become an engaging story with people whose lives you started to care about, with the sex being an extra flavoring.

NightEyes includes a large cross sample of species, locations, settings and kinks. And moods. Some are silly, some are exciting, some slightly sad. Two stories feature Ammar, a wolf using BDSM to help cope with having cancer. The final story is a prequel for NightEyes' Scars of the Golden Dancer.

Come give the book a try. You're sure to enjoy the stories within, and if you're so inclined and have a willing partner, might find inspiration for some bedroom activities. ;-)

Do you like a variety of stories but with adult themes? Then this is the book for you. The adult themes are up front and not shy about it — a refreshing take on adult literature. You can’t go wrong with this collection of stories and the author has clearly put a lot of time and energy into it.

Just wait until you see what’s up with the pineapple juice..

The back cover sells this as a bunch of short smut stories that might tickle your fancy, but that's seriously underselling what's in here. The first few tales feel like they're here for the sake of some spicy fun. I like 'Foxing for Pizza' and 'Making it Fit', but I don't really miss the characters now that I've finished the story. The rest feel different. 'A Moment of Darkness' and 'Unsatisfied' hit somber notes that I wasn't expecting. 'Loving You is Wrong' was short, but left me wanting to hear more of Ekrem and Radic's dynamic. 'Silk and Sword' is almost heart-tugging at the end and makes me want to re-read Scars of the Golden Dancer even though I finished it only a few months ago.

I could go on. All rest of the stories felt like they had something special or could be the beginnings of larger tales. But to keep it short(ish), there's a lot more to latch on to here than just some erotic fun, and I'd thoroughly encourage giving it a read.

Knotty Works is a great collection of gay furry erotica, with the tales getting deeper the further you get into the book. Some of the early stories are more sex-focused, while the later ones are more character and relationship driven where sex is more a component than a key aspect of the story. All stories are certainly erotic, but some more than others.

The travails of relationships feature heavily, particularly in 'The Fluffer' and 'Unknown Stains', while deeper topics are explored in the 1950s-themed 'The Road to Midnight'. The most poignant story is 'A Moment of Darkness' which explores how BDSM can be an outlet when dealing with major life issues, in this case cancer.

Finally, reading 'Silk and Sword' has made me want to explore NightEyes DaySpring's novel 'Scars of the Golden Dancer' as it sets the scene perfectly.

The characters in this collection of stories is what makes them shine and I'd highly recommend picking up this book.
