Christmas Mountain #6

Christmas at the Sleigh Cafe

Rate this book
Dancer Allie Jameson is home this Christmas…

Not just for the holidays but to regroup and relaunch her career after the Broadway show she was in was canceled. Maybe she’ll go back to New York. Maybe she’ll try dancing on the West Coast. But one thing was certain. She isn’t staying in Christmas Mountain after the new year.

While Allie ponders her options, she takes her a job waitressing at the Sleigh Café.

Allie knows things in Christmas Mountain never change…except they are changing. At the Sleigh Café, someone’s leaving uplifting Christmas notes for patrons and staff, including Allie. And for the first time ever, Allie can’t look at her best friend from high school – Nick Stocking – without thinking about mistletoe kisses. It’s all so confusing. Except it’s not. Because no matter what’s changed, Allie will leave town on January first…or will she?

If you enjoy the best friends to lovers trope and movies like When Harry Met Sally or 13 Going on 30, you’ll love this full-length, clean, heartwarming romance with an HEA and no cliffhangers.

Prior to writing romance, award-winning, USA Today Bestseller Melinda Curtis was a junior manager for a Fortune 500 company, which meant when she flew on the private jet she was relegated to the jump seat—otherwise known as the potty. After grabbing her pen (and a parachute) she made the jump to full-time writer. Between writing sweet romance and sweet romantic comedy, Melinda finds time to bond with her husband over home remodeling projects. She recently came to grips with the fact that she’s an empty nester and a grandma, concepts easier to grasp than jet-setting on a potty.

I have one word that sums up this story: Awwwwwwwwwwww! To me, CatSC is a sweet, touching story of two life-long friends who have been living their best lives – sort of – apart for years. And they both end up back in their home town of Christmas Mountain right before the holidays.

Allie Jameson is a dancer in New York but she is trying to recover from an injury, she has serious doubts about her dance future, she is just a bit confused about what she wants to be when she grows up. And Nick Stocking is back in town, working as a chef in his mother’s restaurant, and he, too, has some thinking/deciding to do.

What I loved is that even after not seeing one another for years, they immediately fell into the closeness they have always shared as BFF’s. Nick is a pretty cool character. He thinks Allie is in the right place (Christmas Mountain) at the right time to figure out her fate. They really are wonderful together!

There is a funny scene with Allie and one of the side characters that I found hilarious; so did Nick, truth be told. Allie was furious – mostly with herself but the good news is she found the silliness in it, too. Allie’s mom is a bit over the top but all the secondary characters are working through life things as well.

Nick and Allie are terrific together. I enjoyed their story. There certainly were characters to...not like...but it balanced out the story for me. Nice, light, enjoyable, emotional story about two people who finally figure it all out. I really liked it.

Allie Jameson left Christmas Mountain to make a name for herself as a dancer, but when she returns with an injured foot and a crushed ego, she has a lot to think about, including her best friend Nick Stocking. Nick is a playful and talented chef who captures Allie’s heart and wants the best for her, no matter what that is. The characters in this sweet romance jumped off the page into my heart, even Allie’s mom who is feeling every one of her years and like a middle-aged failure. I loved the traditions of the town, especially the secret Christmas cards left in the cafe with encouraging messages. The entire book was a love letter to those who enjoy the holidays and the spirit of giving all year round. With an easy pace that made the book a quick and enjoyable read, this is one to chuckle over and just enjoy the antics of the characters as they made plans for a bright future. All opinions expressed are my own.

This story actually connected to me quite well, as my daughter was a dancer as well. So it touched me a lot as I saw the common paths of decisions that some dancers have to make.
As Allie takes a job waitressing at the Sleigh Café an old friendship seems to have new sparks. This is just the sweetest Christmas Story as the two, Allie and Nick find a renewed interest in one another. As they help their family with some problems that have arisen, the warmth of Christmas Mountain and the holiday spirit warms all their hearts.

The mysterious Christmas Cards with inspiring messages was a cute highlight in the story. One that gives me some personal thoughts of a sweet Christmas plan of my own. The characters were easy to like and this is definitely a great Christmas story to add to the Holiday Season.

I received a complimentary copy from the author. All thoughts are my own.

Great love story in a small town during the Christmas season! My favorite troupe is “friends to lovers” and that is exactly what the plot of this book is. Two people that found each other and clicked as best friends as children, now find themselves together again in their hometown, but their feelings are changing from friends to romance. Neither want to lose the friendship that is so important to them. Can they risk losing that, to maybe have something more? You have to read to find out!

I am a fan of Melinda Curtis and she came through once again with a story that I was immersed in from the beginning chapter. She creates fantastic characters that I care about. The plot is well thought out and flows easy. Before I realize it, I have completed the book and miss the people I have come to know so well.

I definitely recommend this Christmassy book. It will lighten your heart and bring you some of the spirit of the season.

This story was very well written and I really liked that Allie has come to the point in her life where she is at the cross roads. She was a dancer and that was her life’s ambition and that was who she was, a dancer. She has hurt her foot and comes home to Christmas Mountain to heal and figure out where to go because as she is getting older, younger dancers are the ones in demand.

The story takes you through her thought processes about her family, her best friend Nick and her future. It is so real in the sense that it is believable that often you read about someone’s thought process and it is just more fantasy than reality. You get to see her actually going through all of the emotions of her career, her life in NY, her relationships and sizing up all of the options for her future. Of course, Nick is there to help her along the way. They have been best friends since school and could it turn out to be more than that? Allie grapples with that because she doesn’t want to lose the one person that she feels is her anchor in life.

Cannot say any more without spoilers but this story was a lot of fun to read. It truly showed how the mind works when faced with so many decisions that are life-changing.

A good Christmas read Allie returns to Christmas Mountain a dancer with an injured foot and needs to heal but doesn't plan to stay but then she realizes her family needs her and she runs into Nick who is a long time acquaintance and they start connecting which may keep her in Christmas Mountain.

Christmas at the Sleigh Cafe is part of A Christmas Mountain series but can be read as a stand alone story. This is a sweet romance of returning home and finding everything you ever wanted was right there all along. Allie and Nick have been friends since school and both left Christmas Mountain to pursue their dreams. Allie became a professional dancer in New York and was mostly enjoying life until the show she was in closed and now she is back home to find her new path. Nick left to become a chef and has now returned home to help out at the family restaurant. Now that the two are back home, they work together helping each other with family issues and discovering that there is more to their feelings than just friendship. This is a fun, quick, easy read of love, friendship and the magic of the Christmas season with all the heart and warmth to put you in the spirit of the season.

I received a copy of this story from the publisher but all thoughts and feelings are my own.

A sweet friends to lovers story. After ten years as a struggling dancer, Allie returns to her hometown and reconnects with her best friend Nick. She has new feelings for him but without any idea what to do with her life if not dancing, she cannot move forward with her life. A thoroughly enjoyable and Christmassy read.

This book was both heartwarming as it was heartbreaking. You see Allie and Nick are best friends. Allie left Christmas Mountain to make her career as a dancer happen. Well Nick stayed in his home town to work at the Sleigh Cafe. Now Allie is back in her home town, and low and behold who’s at the bus station when she gets off. That’s right her best friend Nick Stocking. She can’t hide anything from him. The only thing is she doesn’t tell him everything. When she sees her family after she comes home well it doesn’t go over that well. Her mom is on her to leave, and peruse her passion.
When things happen Nick needs her help. She’s glad to help out. However something comes into play, and she doesn’t want that to throw off there friendship.
Well I highly recommend this book.
So much more to come.

Christmas at the Sleigh Café is a wonderful story that takes place in a magical town. By Melinda Curtis thoroughly enjoyed this story even more than I thought that I would. Thinking it was just a story of a dancer coming home to heal then leave again is such a small part of the overall story. It is more of a story of what that dancer, Allie Jameson finds by returning home that makes this such a heartwarming, charming read.

I loved everything about Christmas Mountain but especially the way cards are given at the Sleigh Café. The characters are likable with normal flaws, fears, and struggles. I loved the scene where Allie meets with her high school crush one evening not what she expected but laughable none the less. Then the best friend Nick, what a lovable guy he is. There are a lot of scenes where Allie is with him that are just so swoon worthy. Such a lovely clean romance that it didn’t matter that I knew how it would end. The great part was reading about how they got there.

Fans of Debbie Macomber, Shanna Hatfield, and Ciara Knight will love this story, wanting to add this author to their TBR list. Be sure to get this before the price goes up because this story is worth so much more.

An ARC of the book was provided by the publisher through NetGalley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Allie Jameson and Nick Stocking were best friends in high school and both moved away after graduation for bigger and better things. Allie is a dancer who has been injured and now is trying to figure out if her career is over. Her mother pushes her so will her mom be upset if she stops dancing? Can she do something else that will satisfy her?
Nick is a chef who came back to help his mom at Sleigh Cafe. Both had success but now are in limbo. Christmas Mountain is the place to be. It’s home. They spend time together and they are starting to see each other differently. Will they cross that line? Will they figure out what’s next for their futures? Are they futures together? Allie finds out that her family needs her. Will she get the Christmas spirit again? This is about families needing each other and second chances. I loved this book. Melinda always brings you into the book and you just can’t put it down.

Christmas at the Sleigh Cafe is Book 6 in the Christmas Mountain Romance series. This is the first book I’ve read in the series but it can be read as a stand-alone.

Allie Jameson is a dancer in New York who returns to her home town after the Broadway show she was in was canceled and also to continue recovering from an injury. Allie is at a crossroads in her career and not sure what she really wants. Allie takes a job at the Sleigh Cafe where her best friend Nick Stocking works as a chef for his mother.

Nick and Allie have been best friends since childhood who both left to pursue their dreams but are both back in Christmas Mountain.

Christmas Mountain remains the same except for the mysterious uplifting notes being left for the patrons and of course Allie at the Sleigh Cafe. This was one of my favorite parts of the story.

I love Christmas Romance books and this one did not disappoint. This was such a fun cozy Christmas book about friends to lovers with a happily ever after ending. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Thank you to Netgalley and Franny Beth Books for the eARC I received in exchange for my honest opinion.

Allie headed home to Christmas Mountain after the show on Broadway she was dancing in was cancelled. She was going home to make decisions on what she was going to do next after hurting her foot. She was not sure if she wanted to go back to dancing or find a new path in her life.
Back at home was Nick. Nick was her best friend and maybe more for her. Nick is working at Sleigh Café that his mother owns. Needing a job to keep herself busy Nick suggested she work at the café while she is there.
Spending time together makes them both aware that there may be more than friendship between them.
This is a sweet easy romance book that filled me with joy as I read it.
Thank you NetGalley, Melinda Curtis and Franny Beth Books for the copy of Christmas at the Sleigh Café. This is my personal review.

A cute and sweet holiday romance about best friends who kiss and find out they need to take the chance for true love and happiness.

Along the way they reveal their dreams and aspirations for the future. Is it worth it to move beyond being best friends to explore a romantic relationship ?

Their families factor in to the decision. But help reveal what the future holds.

What a fun Christmas story. I really enjoyed the main characters, Allie Jameson, and Nick Stocking, who have been friends their entire lives and both left their small town after high school to go on to bigger and better things. They are both back home in Christmas Mountain, UT and are at a crossroads as to what to do after Act One is possibly over. I loved their friendship and the possibility of more between them. They also both had family issues and commitments to take care of as well but they both leaned on each other to get through it and talk things through. One of my favorite parts was the mysterious/anonymous Christmas cards at the café and I had to admit I’d have been like Allie with trying to figure out who mine came from. I really liked this story and especially how the story ended with good things for both Allie and Nick for their second act, so to speak.

Christmas at the Sleigh Cafe by Melinda Curtis is a part of the Christmas Mountain series. This is a sweet friends to lovers stories. Both dancer Allie Johnson and chef Nick Stocking are back home in Christmas Montana for personal and family reasons. It's Christmas season and there's lots going on but that doesn't stop Allie and Nick from realizing that their relationship has moved from friends to much more. I really enjoyed watching this realization come to the very likable characters.

Christmas At The Sleigh Cafe written by Melinda Curtis is part of a series, but you can most definitely read it as a standalone which I did. Reading this as a standalone was honestly so easy, I never once got lost within the story, it was all pretty easy to follow along with. This book was so cute, the whole time I was reading I just kept saying "awwww". If you want something sweet and short for this holiday season, then I highly recommend picking up this book. Christmas At The Sleigh Cafe is a friends-to-lovers trope, normally this trope doesn't work out for me, but in this book it worked perfectly fine and I absolutely adored it. I have never read Melinda Curtis before, but after reading this book and falling in love with the characters, and Melinda's writing style, I will definitely check out her other books in the future. There were so many delicious treats mentioned in this story, that I know I need to start some Christmas baking immediately. I can't express how much I adored and loved this book so much, otherwise my review would never end, and I don't want to bore y'all. Please do yourself a favor and pick up a copy of this book, a cozy blanket, any warm drink of your choice, and just plop down and read this book, because once you start you won't want to stop. I felt like I was in the small town of Christmas Mountain, Montana.

This Christmas is the first time Allie has been home to celebrate Christmas with her family in a couple of years. Allie Jameson is a professional dancer. Allie's life revolves around dancing since she was very young Allie's career is nothing but dance according to her mom, I loved Allie's mom, but at the same time I kind of felt like she was somewhat controlling, if Allie didn't want to dance anymore, her mom should have been more than understanding. Allie isn't home just for the holidays, but to regroup and relaunch her career after the Broadway show she was in was canceled. Allie also came home after an injury with her foot, but her family doesn't know that, only her longtime best friend, Nick Stocking. Maybe Allie will go back to New York to keep dancing, or maybe she'll try dancing on the west coast, but Allie is certain about one thing, she isn't staying in Christmas Mountain, Montana after the new year. Allie was told to call her mom once she got to the bus station, but her best friend Nick was the one to show up.

Allie never told her mom she was home to heal her foot injury, her mom only thinks she's home because the Broadway show was canceled. Allie is a professional dancer, and her best friend, Nick is a professional chef. While Allie ponders her options, she decides to take a job waitressing at the Sleigh Cafe, the Sleigh Cafe is a little bakery that Nick and his mom run. Nick knows about Allie's foot injury and knows she should be healing her foot, but Allie won't take no for an answer, she's determined to prove that she can do anything with an injured foot. Allie is at cross roads of what she wants to do with her career, she doesn't want to let her mom down, but Allie knows she can't dance forever. Allie knows things in Christmas Mountain never change, expect that things have changed since she was last home for Christmas. The Sleigh Cafe has started a new thing, a Christmas bulletin board, where people can leave other's inspirational cards. Someone's leaving uplifting Christmas notes for the people in Christmas Mountain, the staff at the Sleigh Cafe, and notes for Allie herself.

For the first time ever, Allie can't look at her best friend from high school, Nick Stocking without thinking about mistletoe kisses. This is all so confusing for Allie, except it's really not. Because no matter what has changed, Allie will leave town come January first..... or will she? I absolutely adored Allie and Nick, they were so cute. I always love how Nick never pushed Allie, he gave her options, but he never pushed her to do something she didn't want to do, he never made Allie choose dancing over him, or him over dancing. This book made my heart swell with pride. I never wanted this story to end because I just had so much fun reading about Christmas Mountain, Montana. Like I sad before, please grab this book, you definitely won't be disappointed. The cover is just so beautiful and screams Christmas is fastly approaching at me. If anyone reads this book, I hope you love it just as much as I did. This beautiful story deserves way more than five stars.

I was delighted that Christmas at the Sleigh Café met my expectations for a Melinda Curtis clean and sweet romance with some serious themes. This was a quick read for me because I was enjoying it so much. The story takes place in Christmas Mountain, Montana. Allie Jameson has not made her fame or fortune in New York City as her family expected. She is passionate about dancing, but bad breaks, including one in her foot, have led to a bus ride back home to regroup. She is met by her long time best friend, Nick, a trained chef who has also returned to Christmas Mountain to help his family and decide on his future.

Allie quickly becomes involved in helping others as a barista at Nick’s family’s coffee shop, a substitute dance teacher, and a designer in setting up her mother’s new business. Nick is always there to support Allie as she works through various issues, but what is it that Nick wants out of life? Is friendship really enough for either of them or might a kiss destroy that friendship?

Christmas at the Sleigh Café is a wonderful story to read at Christmas time, but the themes and issues are relevant all year long. I recommend this book for characters, setting and plot. These elements merit at least four stars, but my enjoyment of the book, including Allie’s inner dialogue and the gentle humor, ramp it up to 5 stars for me.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

Allie Jameson is the small town girl who made it big dancing in New York. at least that is what everyone in Christmas Mountain thinks. She has returned home for the holidays, but also to figure out what is next for her career. The show she was in has been canceled and she has a broken bone in her foot. She takes a temporary job working in the Sleigh Café with her BFF, Nick Stocking. Nice left town to make his name as a big time chef, but has returned to help his family at the café. Things are changing around town and one of the biggest changes is her own family. Can she figure out what she really wants before it is too late? Will she be able to help her family find their footing and what about Nick?

This was a relatively short story (142 pgs) but it pulled me in. I really liked both Allie's and Nick's characters. It was obvious how Nick felt about Allie, it just took her awhile to see it. The small town welcomed her back with open arms and as small communities do, they all wanted to know what was going on. As Allie begins to find her way, she is supported by everyone, except her mother, who wanted to live vicariously through Allie. There are a couple of serious issues such as giving up your dreams for your family, midlife crisis, small towns closing up etc. and Melinda Curtis does a great job adding these issues into the story in a very realistic way. This was a sweet Christmas romance that I do recommend.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

This was such an enchanting Christmas romance. I love how these two were BFFs growing up and going their separate ways into their careers. Allie Jameson is a professional dancer living in New York. She is currently back home in Christmas Mountain while her right foot heals from its stress fracture. She is coming to terms about the life span of a dancer especially since she doesn't sing nor act. She feels her time is coming to an end but she never planned for the next phase of her life. Nick Stocking, is a master chef. He comes home and helps work in his family restaurant. Can these two figure out if they have a future together? Will New York call her back for more dancing?

I think if the book was written in a dual POV format and getting to see Nick's thoughts really would have brought more to the book.

This is a clean romance with just some kissing involved.

Allie Jameson has returned home after the Broadway show she was in was canceled as well as she is recovering from an injury. She has always loved to dance but when she returns home, she isn’t sure what she really wants. Nick Stocking, her best friend, is working at the Sleigh Café for his mother and Allie starts working there right away. She worked there years ago before she left to pursue her dancing, so she fit right in. Something new at the Café is Christmas notes left in secret for others with uplifting notes within then. As she starts getting them, she tries to find out who is leaving them for her. She is totally attracted to Nick but doesn’t want to say anything because she doesn’t want to lose her best friend if things didn’t work out.

Allie is back home after injuring her foot and from the moment she steps out her best friends since forever Nick is there to pick her up and feelings she shouldn't be having for her "friend" start popping into her head. I loved how supportive Nick was of Allie and how he also knew when to push her as well as back off while she worked through what to do with her career while Allie also lent her support to her Mum and had some hard conversations in order for her Mum to open up. This is a great mix of finding love, finding the path right for you and making stronger bonds with family while having some good laughs, heart warming moments and embracing the holiday spirit.

Nick and Allie have been best friends forever. Both left the small town of Christmas Mountain to pursue their dreams. Nick returned home permanently to work as a chef in the Sleigh Café. Allie returned briefly. She’s unsure what she wants to do with the rest of her life but knows it isn’t going to happen in Christmas Mountain. She’s a dancer but sustained an injury and is having second thoughts about returning to NYC and her career.

And what’s up with these feelings she’s suddenly having about her best friend, Nick? The longer she stays in town the stronger her feelings for Nick become and the more she sees that leaving home again might not be the best thing after all.

A heartwarming story with a HEA.
