Hunger Games meets aliens? It took until 43% before the MCs finally meet. Then there was a short span of a language barrier. This was supposed to be steamy but we didn’t get anything until the 71% mark and nothing actually happened. The steamy part happened at 82% and the only reason it happened was because of a mating fever….

The mating was not sexy in my opinion. A clit being referred to as a knob is a new one for me. All I could picture was a doorknob.

Almost zero relationship development and the world was confusing. I wanted to like this and perhaps this is a me issue that I just could not get engaged with this world or its characters.

Look...it was boring.

Even with this mate bond they had, there was no romance - just succumbing to the mating fever at chapter 20 of 22.

I also didn't see any character development or growth OR any relationship development either. The h is ready to jump ship and go back to Earth, but she finds out she has to pay for the travel, so a few paragraphs later she's ready to go have sex with him and accept the bond.

There was action in places but the story felt very incomplete and unsatisfying.

My Big Green Alien Orc is the first book in the Starlight Monsters series. Fay is a human that finds herself kidnapped and transported to an alien planet. Vruhag, knows Fay is his mate from the moment he first scents her. He is also kidnapped and transported to the same planet as Fay, but he has more information. He knows they are unwitting contestants in a deadly game. Forced to try and survive while cameras watch, and the odds are stacked against them.

I liked the story, but it felt incomplete. There was very little depth to the romance. Once they found each other, it was so rushed that it felt underdeveloped. I also wanted more character development. It alluded to things in Fay's pasts that she wasn't happy about, but it didn't go into the details. We get even less details about Vruhag.

As I mentioned earlier, the story felt unfinished. Just when I felt like I was settling into the middle of the story, the plot took a sharp turn, and it ended shortly after. It was disappointing.

Vruhag gives Fay wings...Fay (h) was abducted from Earth, imprisoned in a metal cell, and abandoned naked and alone on a hostile alien world. Vruhag (H), an orc warrior, has been kidnapped as a forced participant in the deadly Trials of Kalumbu fighting games where he scents his mate. Fay and Vruhag battle the hostile planet and its dangers and make new allies as they journey towards one another hoping to fight their way off Kalumbu. Hot and steamy sexy action for Fay and Vruhag, with special eggplant. Fun first full book in the Starlight Monsters series - a prequel is available with newsletter sign-up, My Big Sweet Waffle Monster, and introduces Penny and Qong.

Hot and steamy story that kind of reminded me of 'The Hunger Games'. Fay and Vruhag are kidnapped and forced to play a deadly game for their survival. Vruhag knows that Fay is his mate and does whatever he can to keep her safe. Exciting story but characters don't really meet or get steamy with each other until half way through the read. The book was exciting and adventurous though and kept my attention throughout the whole read. Great story!.

Fay has been abducted from Earth and put on a planet and in dangerous Trials for survival. She didn’t even know aliens existed so this comes as a big shock to her. Vruhag is an Orc and he was also captured and forced to participate in the Trials also. From the first scent Vruhag knows Fay is his mate before he even sees her. Fay has a stroke of luck when she is dropped on the inhospitable planet- a Chii, a monkeyish animal. She leads Fay to other Chii and eventually Vruhag. Will Fay give into the mate pull? Will they ever get off the planet and to safety?

This book opens as Vruhag smells his mate is near. He's trapped in his cell that even he with all his orc strength can't escape. Although he does some damage before they get a restraining collar on him. The mating fever riding him hard.

Fay McLean has no idea where she is when she wakes with a massive hangover. At least that's what she thinks it is. She's in the dark and tries to find a window or door, but there aren't any, it's a cell. The question is where.

The next thing she knows, she's naked and submerged in water on a planet that is clearly not Earth. She needs clothing, shelter and food and then to figure out how to get home.

Vruhag is forced to watch as his mate is sent to the surface with no clothing or weapon to use against the monsters that inhabit that planet. He needs to find her, mate her, and then survive for ten days to be freed. That was the rule of the Trials of Kalumbu. Unfortunately, he's sent down with only an axe and with no idea of where Fay could be.

Fay has a stroke of luck when the first creature she meets on this horrific planet is a Chii, the small creature leads her to its home and there she begins to learn about where she is and what happens there. The chii who found her is called Ali’quii and her relative Ta'quii is the powerful clan-mother. Ta'quii is the one who tells her someone is searching for her and that Ali'quii's chosen has found him and is leading him to her. It seems this someone is her mate. Not that she believes in such things.

The first thing Vruhag does is kill for food, he's weak and not at his top strength. He's not so lucky in his search for Fay, he has to battle not one but two rakefangs. They were attacking a small chirping creature, and he couldn't let them win. The creature he saves is a Chii and his name is Ano’quoo and he is traveling to meet his chosen and will lead Vruhag to his mate. She's with Ali'quii and her clan safe for the moment.

The first meeting between Fay and Vruhag is interesting to say the least. He can understand her, but she can't understand him. Ano'quoo and Ali'quii get them to a safe place and create a mind room for them to talk.

From this point on it's getting to know each other and surviving. Fay has a lot of accepting to do when it comes to her mating. This is as foreign to her as her current environment.

So many things happen in this book, it kept me on edge through every page and there's an interesting surprise as well.

I really can't wait for the next book in this series. I have a love/hate relationship with this strange world Skye has created that others use to torment and kill.

I loved everything about this book and the main characters had me cheering for them at right from the start . Fay McLean is hungover from a wild night with friends and wakes up in a strange place in a cell with strange aliens grunting at her and then she is dumped on a stranger planet naked into water and knows she not on earth anymore and is now looking from something to wear. Vruhag is an Orc and has been captured as well as the human female they showed him that turns out is his mate and Vruhag knows exactly where he is and then the take his mate and strip her naked and drop her onto the planet where she will be in the trial games for survival with the whole galaxy watching but she knows nothing of what will happen but I must get to my mate before she dies. Fay meets a wired looking monkey with three eyes called Aliquii that helps her out and when it attaches itself to her arm and neck and they are able to communicate and she keeps Fay safe until he mate can find her. Vruhag has just been sent to the planet with an axe with only one thing on his mind was to get to his mate and keep her safe but he is weak and needs food to be at full strength and with the help from a Chil creature tells him he can take him to his mate because his chosen has her and is keeping her safe till they arrive and if all goes well hopefully survive the 10 days and win and can leave as winners. Now meeting his mate she doesn’t want anything to do with him but he keeps trying to win her over and with there new friends under attack from the game makers they leave there safety and now must work together to survive and along the way the become very close and soon fall in love with each other and just before they are about to die they are saved. Who saved them and took them out of the games and now the stress is gone can Fay finally give in and have the man she realises is her mate.

Decent read; unbelievable ending
Author Skye MacKinnon sets up an interesting premise: an intergalactic "game" played out on camera for depraved viewers who see male/female teams of contestants battle to the death in a hostile environment. "Survivor" with unwilling contestants where the stakes are life or death. The odds are heavily weighted against the contestants: few weapons, no supplies (unless gifted by the viewers who bet on their favorites), and terrain filled with predatory flora and fauna.

Fay, an accomplished journalist on Earth, has been abducted by the game masters and paired with Vruhag, an Orc warrior who immediately recognizes her as his mate. Despite their inability to communicate easily (he can understand her thanks to a translation implant which she lacks, so his words are gibberish to her), they join together to fight their way through the ten-day contest, in the hope of earning extraction from the hell hole planet of Kalumbu.

The book moves along quickly as the couple encounter predators, gain the help of an indigenous sentient species, and, inevitably, fall in love and beat the odds to survive. The character development is engaging; and the world building is intriguing. The abrupt "deus ex machina" resolution to their plight, however, falls rather flat, leaving the reader glad for a happy ending but unsatisfied with the way it is achieved. You're also left wondering about the personalities of the game masters and other contestants who aren't really developed in any detail. The helpful locals, the chii, are quite colorful and it would have been fun to get a fuller picture of their society, too. A good story concept; wish it was more fully fleshed out.

Fay wakes to find herself not where she went to sleep. She has worked out that she seems to be in some sort of metal cell but that's about it until she's suddenly on a platform in front of a huge crowd that she cannot understand. From what she can gather she is being sent into the jungle and she has to survive. She's been in tough situations before but never quite this bad. All she has to do is make it out, surely she can do that? Well to be honest, if was not for a small friendly helper then she would not have made it one afternoon let alone night. She more than a little surprised though when her new friend near enough presents her with her mate who is a huge green Orc. Not only is she trying to get out alive here but suddenly she has a mate too? Vruhag is desperately trying to remain in control of himself and his senses since he caught the scent of his mate. He has been captured, thrown into a cell and dumped into the Games. He had always previously thought, if somewhat naively, that the participants volunteered.Yeah, no. On the way to being dumped he passed other cells one of which holds his mate. His species not only go into a mating fever but will also pretty much go mad if they don't join with their mate soon after meeting them. Now he has to battle the jungle, the wildlife, other contestants and his fever to get to his mate. Thing is when he finds her and discovers she is human what will he do then?
I loved this book! I especially loved the characters. This is going on my re-read pile along with the rest when they come out. I can't wait!

Kalumbu is a death planet. Contestants are kidnapped and dropped on the planet to survive the deadly planet’s environment and animals. It is a Hunger Game scenario on steroids. The contestants are tracked and monitored by drones. It is watched far and wide. There is big money to be made on the trials. Bets are made on the life and death of players in the deadly jungles of Kalumbu.
Fay was kidnapped from Earth. She woke up in a dark unfamiliar room with no way out. Suddenly, her clothes are burned off and she is dropped in a jungle. She realizes she is not on Earth anymore. The animal sound terrifying. She did meet “Chirpy” that seems to be helping her find a way through the jungle.
Vruhag was kidnapped and found himself onboard the ship. He then begin to smell his mate. He is frantic to get to her. Then he realizes they are part of the trials on Kalumbu. It is a death sentence to her. She is human. He is an orc but he would have a hard time surviving that planet trials. Vruhag has also found a grouchy “Chirpy” to guide him. It leads him to his mate.
Fay and Vruhag common ate through the the chii that are helping them. The must fight to survive. As well as survive their mate bond.
Has a HEA.

I got into this series with Penny and her Waffle monster which introduced the world. In the first book I was ready for book two. It gave you this desire to jump into this series.

The writing as always is phenom but what I had an issue was their relationship seemed very disingenuous. They didn’t actually like each other it was life or death and then they finally succumb to the mating fire.

Fay is an investigative journalist and she is convinced she has been stolen and placed into enemy territory. What she does not realize is that she’s actually in space and she is about to face some life or death trails.

Vruhag is a Bad behind orc who refuses to be imprisoned. The only issue is he smells his mate and he knows he must do whatever it takes to find her. When he realizes where he is and that trials are about to begin she is thrown in front of him as a naked offering.

If he doesn’t win in this case no one lives and he doesn’t get the girl. I am a big Skye fan so I understand that the series will still build from here this just wasn’t my absolute favorite.

I hope this series continues to develop these characters and we see more in these fated pairs.

Happy reading everyone 😍🥰😍🥰!!

This is an awesome alien romance story that I could not put down. It’s entertaining, exciting and it also has abductions, fated mates, danger, is action packed with steamy scenes and more with a happily ever after ending. It’s got amazing characters, the main characters have spicy hot chemistry and I love the fact that both main characters bond to a pair of Chii mates, which are yellow creatures that are so sweet. The world building is excellent with some backstory and lots of details and the male Vruhag has an interesting body part that has wings. Fay is the human female that abducted and as soon as Vruhag scents her he knows she is his mate. Unfortunately they have been taken to fight in the arena and no one ever leaves alive. They are dumped on planet and Vruhag has to find his way to her before predators do. Along the way they get some help from the Chii, cute creatures the size of a kitten. Unfortunately the game masters find them and they have to leave before they attack the Chii. Then there’s a huge plot twist that I didn’t see coming and I’m not telling you what it is but believe me when I say you will not be disappointed.

Skye MacKinnon writes such a wide variety of books and yet does it so well that I don’t know why I’m always surprised when it’s entertaining and enjoyable, regardless of whatever one I pick up from whatever new genre I find. This is probably one of my favorites by her, the pacing was fantastic and I really liked that at the end you were given the option to stop at the HFN or continue to a cliffhanger that introduces the second book’s characters. Very few authors do that and I appreciate the option.
The alien survival game aspect keeps you invested and I admittedly read this in one sitting because I needed to know what happened. The mate bond wasn’t instalove/instalust which I personally prefer and the culture differences were entertaining and a challenge initially but not over the top frustrating or resulting in any unforgivable faux pas.
I hope that in the next book we get to go back to the cute little Chii creatures and find out more about what happened to the planet to turn it into a deadly arena for wealthy jerks willing to kill for cash. Plus who doesn’t love a satyr!.

Faye wakes up feeling a bit hungover, but quickly realizing she is no longer on Earth. She been abducted to a dangerous planet and will be forced to participate in the Trials of Kalumbu, a interplanetary show for aliens to bet on for their pleasure, but the participants are fighting for their lives. Faye, as a human, has little or no chance to survive. Vruhag, an orc, scents his mate and discovers it the beautiful, stubborn, tenacious Faye, but he is forced to watch as she is dropped on the planets surface, naked, weaponless to fight the monsters. He fights off several creatures to get to her and she is "rescued" by a Chii, a small creature that takes her to its home and helps her. Vruhag finally gets to her and together they fight for their freedom, or so they think. The book is fast paced, the characters well developed, action packed, sizzling, steamy, and so much more. Great start to this new series Starlight Monsters and with this book on Kindle Unlimited, you can read for free and get ready for book 2.

Vruhag is an orc who was on his own space ship when he was captured and put in a cell on another space ship. When he comes to he is shocked to catch the scent of his fated mate. He has no clue who or what she is but the countdown to his mating insanity has begun. He is shown a video of a strange female alien in a similiar cell and he knows she is his mate. He is horrified to learn that they are about to enter the Trials of Kalumbu which is an illegal survivor like game where mates are sent down to a very dangerous planet with killer foliage and horrible beasts and they have to find each other and survive ten days. The problem is his fated mate has no weapons or protection and has been sent down naked. She also comes from an isolated planet and has no clue what she is in for. He will have to find her as soon as possible and protect her but he only has 3 days before his mating urges drive him into become a feral beast.

I really enjoyed this story. Faye was able to prove she wasn't totally helpless even with out food or a weapon. I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.

My Big Green Alien Orc is book one of the Starlight Monsters series, and a Sci-Fi romance adventure that brings together Orc Vruhag and abducted Human Fay.
Vruhag was taken from his ship after it was attacked unprovoked. Thrown into a cage and held prisoner. When a wonderful scent reaches him from within the prison he realizes somewhere in there is his mate, and as her scent gets further away he goes wild.
Fay who was abducted from Earth wakes up in her cell having no idea how she got there.
Both will soon learn they’ve been captured to appear in an Alien game show called Trials of Kalumba, and for freedom they have to survive for ten days.
When the games begin Vruhag has to find his mate and claim her before his mating fever kills him. But when they do find each other it’s going to take some convincing for this brawny yet lovable Orc to get her to accept she is his mate.
An enjoyable story which was nicely written with lots of action, steam, danger, humor, some cute little side characters, surprises, spice, and good world building, in a fast paced entertaining read.
HEA.

an excellent story i thoroughly enjoyed this book. it is exceptionally well written with a cohesive plot that flows along well all details flowing one to another. the character development was top notch with rich details and descriptions. Vruhag is a strong warrior orc who has been kidnapped and put in the trials of Kalumbu but only as he smells his mate. Fay is a human female stolen from earth and also put in the trials but she has no idea about mates. Fay is defenseless, she is no warrior or fighting and has no weapons or skills so Vruhag vows to find her and protect her til they die together. Fay finds unexpected help from an unlikely source once on the planet and that keeps her alive until Vruhag finds her. With basically no hope of survival and Fay denying the mate bond there is virtually no hope of survival or even completing the mate bond. Suspense, excitement, danger, friendship, acceptance, and more await with an unexpected ending that will thrill and delight the reader. I highly recommend this book.

My Big Green Alien Orc was a fun read, set on another world where the main characters are forced to survive after being dropped there for "the games." I always enjoy the survival games type trope and loved that the world itself was always trying to kill them. Unfortunately, I think it was just too short. We didn't see enough of the dangers on the planet. And I desperately wanted more about the spirit bonds. By the ending, it just felt like the ideas had either run out or there was a page limit for this one that had already been maxed out, because it was unsatisfyingly short.

I was also a little disappointed in the "romance" of this story. The characters had a little bit of chemistry in the last little bit, and there was really only one seggsy time scene... I thought this was more of an Alien Orc Romance, but it really didn't give the satisfaction I was craving.

That said, I think there's potential, and as it's the first in a series, maybe there will be more that will play out and make it feel more complete.

Well this story put an abducted human woman and an abducted alien orc male onto an alien planet where they’re supposed to survive. There are dangerous creatures, poisonous things, and other contestants out to kill you. And it just rips off the idea of The Hunger Games but makes it alien.

There are people who watch these games, and people who sponsor the contestants, giving them weapons, there’s supposedly a victor in the end who gets taken away, and there are drone cameras everywhere so people can watch all the action.

There will even be the idea that the game makers will be pissed because Katniss will be rescued and Peeta will be put into a healing pod. Oh wait! Wrong book! I mean, Fay will be rescued and Vruhag will be the one in the healing pod. And unlike the botched rescue of Peeta in Catching Fire this book only offers an HEA for Fay and Vruhag. And this book is a connected standalone, so I’m sure the characters will appear in the next book. But while it wasn’t bad, it also isn’t a series I intend to continue.

I did really enjoy your book in the beginning. I wish the author had given more time to develop fully. We meet our characters in a battle Royale fighting to survive an alien jungle. Solid character development and world building. Really enjoyed the native species and their perspective on the events.
Our protagonists are fated mates and their dynamic started out being really believable and organic feeling. Fay (AH) is skeptical of the bond and fearful of the changes happening to her on top of this crazy situation.
Then there comes this point in the plot where I feel like the author just wanted to wrap this up. They are ex machina'd very suddenly off planet by some randos. Fay is also suddenly completely on board with the mates thing.
None of this feels earned. I wish they had figured out a way off the planet on their own and we had gotten to see them fall in love more.
Overall lots of potential but ultimately feels rushed.

A wonderful alien abduction and human abductee read, action filled saga
Fay had bee simply going about her way and she had suddenly found herself being whisked away from her own planet, the alien warrior Vruhag had also been kidnapped and forced to participate in fighting matches.
Fay and Vruhag partner together and the battle against their hostages and the hardships of the planet they survive on. This is a dangerous and difficult journey and as they fight to survive, they also begin to form a more intimate bond together.
I assure you that you will love every moment of this book it is simply a fantastic read.

I loved this book. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't put it down. Great world building. I loved Vruhag and Fay. Both would find themselves struggling to survive on a dangerous planet for the Trials of Kalumbu, where those who were forced to participate were bet on for money. As an orc, Vruhag might stand a chance, but had not been given water or food for days and was weakened. Worse for Fay, a human woman with no understanding of what was happening and dropped alone in a jungle naked and weaponless. Vruhag had scented her as his mate and was determined to find her and protect her, all while trying to fight off the madness of mating fever and bloodlust that had begun in him. Excellent story. It was fun and suspenseful and I loved the Chii! A great read and can't wait until the next in this series! 5 stars.

Fay and Vruhag's Story . . .

Fay McLean is abducted from Earth to engage in a fight to the death for the entertainment of aliens eagerly watching the Trials. Vruhag is an Orc captured to enter the Trials also. He immediately scents that Fay is his mate but he then has to find her and survive until they could be free.

When Fay is dumped on a dangerous planet with animals and plants that are lethal to the unsuspecting, she meets up with a Chii named Ali’quii, somewhat similar to a monkey but with feathers and two tails, who takes Fay to its home. Vruhag is being led to their location by Ali’quii’s chosen Ano’quoo, a Chii that Vruhag rescued when it was being attacked. Will Fay be affected by the mate pull that is driving Vruhag? Do they have a future waiting for them? Or will they lose their lives in the survival game?

If I could give this more stars, I would! What an epic adventure! From the first page, I was completely enthralled and the story just picked up speed and never let up.

Fay and Vruhag are dropped in a lethal trial not unlike the Hunger Games, but still incredibly unique. They have to survive in a hostile world where there’s danger everywhere they turn.

Fay fights the bond with Vruhag, so the spice is more of a slow burn since he’s considerate and protective of her, and they’re busy trying to stay alive.

This book sets up the bigger story, so not all questions will be answered here, but our hero and heroine get their HEA (no cliffhanger regarding them), but to get complete satisfaction against the bad guys, I’m going to have to keep reading.

I really enjoyed this book!.

Fay is abducted from Earth and thrust into a deadly alien survival game; her experience as a journalist in dangerous areas helped make her resilient and determined. Despite her lack of fighting skills, Fay is a strong and smart survivor. She stays calm, thinks before she acts, and doesn't "freak out."

Vruhag is a formidable orc warrior. He is driven by the mate bond, frantic to find and protect Fay after he sees her on a monitor being dropped onto the planet, naked and unarmed. His desire to keep her safe and to care for her is endearing.

Fay is initially resistant to the idea of being Vruhag's "mate" but comes to trust and rely on him as they work together to survive the trials. This book is a perfect fit if you love fast-paced, action-packed alien romance and crave a couple you can truly root for.

Great fast paced story which keep me reading until the very end. Fay has been kidnapped from Earth and taken to a planet that has dangerous Trials of Kalumbu in order to survive. Vruhag is an Orc and was also on the planet and forced to participate in the Trials. Vruhag know that Fay is his fated mate as he can scent her before he sees her. Their Trials are shown on camera as a game of survival. I love the Chii that Fay finds as the small creature is friendly and leads her to it's home and she's told that a different Chii is leading Vruhag, her mate, to her. I loved the action, twists, suspense, dangers, and the hot steam between Fay and Vruhag. Fun story.

Deny, deny, deny.

When Fay wakes up in a world she doesn't recognize she just wants to deny it. But danger is all around and she's been abducted and dropped into the middle of alien "games". Vruhag isn't as lucky. He knows all about the games and the danger but when he smells his mate, he'll do what it takes, even though he too has been abducted. With a little help from their friends, this series kicks off with a woman who would just love to wake up in her own bed and an Orc who won't stop until she is his. Thank goodness the chemistry is there between them because she can't understand him and she's way out of her element. I liked the story, my only complaint is that it could have been longer because it felt a bit rushed.

Fay and Vruhag have been taken against their will and made contestants in a type of hunger games survival competition against the flora, fauna and creatures of this planet. I really liked the world building details – different creatures, plant life, mating biology/connections and of course encountering the Chii. Listening to some of the back-and-forth banter between the Chii characters and both Faye and Vruhag was quite funny. With a much bigger picture of this event being televised for a profit by unknown forces, there is a lot to find out if it ever will end. For a relatively quick read, this was an enjoyable sci-fi story clearly with more episodes and couples to come!.
