The Elemental #2

The Dragon King

Rate this book
A spin-off paranormal romance of the novel, The Elemental.

KEMREMIR
I am the King of the Dragon Shifters. I love my people. I love my kingdom. My abnormal strength, unique molten fire, and inky shadows have helped me hold my throne. There have been many challengers to my throne, and I’ve fought and killed each one. This latest challenger will be no different.
But I have a new and unexpected motivation to win this time ... HER.
When Tatha walked into my castle, my dragon fire raged through my body ... calling to her.

My Mate.

TATHA
The Mountain has been my home my entire life. My clan prefers solitude, and we shunned our human forms centuries ago. Living as my dragon is all I've ever known. Yet, here I stand before the King, as a woman ... for the sake of my dying father.
But my body responds to the King. My dragon calls to him. There's danger on the horizon, and I fear I may be the one vulnerability Kemremir can't afford.

I could read this book again and again and again. I just completed it and cannot wait to go back to it.
This book achieved what it set out to do and then some. We are introduced to Kem in The Elementals, and there are some characters that are present in both the books, but you do not need to read it before this book.

Kemremir is the king of dragon shifters. He is the only black dragon with special talents and the most powerful being in the realm. Nobody is aware of his full range of abilities. He has ruled his kingdom with an iron fist and a kind heart. And everything is as it should be until he finds his mate.

Tatha, lady of the mountain clan, is a small but powerful dragon with dual chrome colors. Long ago, the mountain tribe abandoned their human selves in favor of living as dragons. In order to fulfill her father's dying desire, she goes to the king's castle. And when she finds out that the king is her mate, she has got some huge decisions to make and a whole kingdom to show what she is worth.

Characters: Both Tatha and Kem were easy to love, and I enjoyed their fun little character arc, as they both had to grow up and make hard decisions to get where they wanted to be.
The other characters throughout the book were tastefully done. I loved Syphe and Ziza, and at the same time, I hated Inchel with a passion.

The World: The Crimson Realm, created by the author and the details that she gave to us readers were amazing to get into. The world of dragons, their history, traditions, ways, magic, dragon skin, and behaviors were thoroughly explained, and it was enjoyable to return to this world after the Elementals.

Romance and Spice and everything nice: The spice could not have been done better. It is perfect, a chef's kiss. With some insecurities, angst, and, of course, love, both as mates and humans, this book is a cute little spicy, romantic package.
Although this book is focused on Kem and Tatha's romance, that did not stop the author from giving us a juicy, twisty, and well thought out plot.

Vibes: For me, this book is a perfect romantic re-read and a slump breaker.

Recommend: This book, in my opinion, deserves to be on every reader's TBR list who is interested in fantasy romance or just romance.

T.B. Wiese, thank you so much for sending me an ARC, for an honest review.

Dragon shifter king (Kemremir) finding his mate (Tatha). What an amazingly written story. Had me glued from the first chapter. They worked out so well for two STRONG characters and the obstacles they faced..? Definitely check it out!

I loved The Elemental and was delighted to hear Kemremir was back in this novella!
The spicy romance is everything, Tatha is a great new character and for a novella, TB Wiese has packed in a lot of plot!
I was lucky enough to read this as an advanced copy and this review is entirely my own opinion.

This was such a great read! I love dragon shifters and this book did not disappoint. Kemremir is the dragon king and is unique from other dragons.

Tatha is the daughter of the Mountain Clan leader. They meet due to some sad circumstances and immediately the mate bond is there.

Love love the spicy scenes and the plot was really interesting! Great novella!

When Tatha visits Kem at his castle to ask a last request for her dying father, she never expected to find her mate but that's exactly what she finds. Kem knows right away that Tatha is his mate but she's there to help her dying father so he grants her request. But as they spend time together it's quite apparent that they can hardly keep their hands off each other. So while Kem is trying to give her space to grieve her father, he's also keeping her close because he doesn't want to lose her or for her to refuse him as a mate.

While all that is going on someone also challenges Kem to a fight for the throne but he's not worried since he is fierce and has beat all the other challenges. But this time they plan to cheat and Kem has someone that he cares about so it's not as easy as he thinks it is.

This book starts off a bit slow as we get to know all the parties involved and watch Tatha mourn her father. They are all dragons shifters so their customs are a big part of this story. I really liked Kem, he was gentle when he needed to be, gave her time to mourn her father while also making sure she knew he wanted her as a mate. But was a fierce King and had these neat shadows/smoke around him that none of the other dragons shifters had which made him very unique.

This was a very interesting and different dragon world from what I've read before so it was fun to learn about them and watch the romance blossom between Kem and Tatha, all the while people are plotting behind him to overtake the throne.

The Dragon King

By T.B. Wiese.

This is definitely one dragon shifter storyline that has kept me glued to the pages.

Book two of the series, finds Dragon King Kemremir meeting and finding his mate in Tatha from the mountain Dragon kingdom, she’s come to the Dragon King to inform him of how soon her father will pass into the stars, little did he realise his mate was so close.

T.B.Wiese has written a beautiful storyline with these two central characters who balance each other out perfectly but as in many situations where there is a powerful leader, there are many around who will use anything available to attempt to gain something that they have no right to touch.

So we find both Kem and  Tatha while getting to know and understand each other have to deal with challenges which are to the death as their enemies use the love these two dragons have for each other as a way to cripple them and try whatever they can to destroy the rightful king.

A fascinating adventure with plenty of heat and spice plus enough suspence and drama to not stop turning the page’s, I couldn’t help getting personally invested in feeling what these two strong determined characters experienced as their lives and love was attacked.

If you enjoy paranormal romance, then you’re going to find this tale amazing. Grab a copy today.

This has a very original storyline and I found myself needing to find out what happens, however I wish the author drew out some of the plot points longer. Tatha and Kem’s mating bond was so immediate I was shocked. I was expecting a bit more of a slow burn. I don’t say that often. But there are many things about this book that are never explained. Why is Kem the only one that has shadow powers, and at that point the only one mentioned to have any magic powers at all? Why is being a duo-chrome dragon rare, is it just the coloring or does she have special powers too? What is Tatha’s father dying of- just old age? What other worlds are there other than the fae realm? They mention “other realms” a few times but none by name specifically. Where did the dragons come from? Why does the mountain clan isolate itself? What is the significance of the North Lake to the dragons? What exactly is the mating bond/what is the history or purpose of it? Like these are all things that are brought up multiple times as if they are integral to the story, and yet are never explained further than mentioning them. I wish the author had expanded the storyline a little to explain more thoroughly. This has the potential to be up there with the popularity of Sarah J Maas series, Harry Potter, and other fantasy stories like them but just fell flat with the execution.

*I received an ARC from the author for my voluntary and honest review.

The Dragon King takes place after the Elemental and follows Kem as he is challenged again for his throne and finally finds his mate. From the Elemental the dragons were my favorite part. I loved the idea of the dragon's color bleeding into human forms and I loved getting drawn back into this world. I don't think Tatha’s human height is explicitly mentioned in the book but I definitely pictured her a little 5 feet of fury spitfire. And I’m really happy that Kem finds his mate. This novella was a great quick read with a happy ending. And the spice is just perfect.

Kem was my favorite character from The Elemental and I'm so happy we get this novella to stay with him a little longer. Because of the length, the romance progresses quite quickly, and while I would have liked to see a bit more build up, the scenes between Kem and Tatha were HOT. Kind of wish we'd gotten a whole novel about them!

Thank you to the author for gifting me an e-ARC. All opinions are my own.

I loved The Elemental, so as soon I heard about this spin off I was excited! And it did not disappoint! It was just what I needed from my book hangover from The Elemental. Spice and dragons, um yes please. I loved getting to know more about Kem. He was one of my favorite characters in The Elemental. If you like spicy fantasy romance with dragon shifters, I definitely recommend this one!! I'd suggest reading The Elemental first, if you haven't already!

AMAZING!!!

Ok, so I fell in love with Kem in the Elemental and I just NEEDED to read his HEA. It was SO. WORTH. IT!!!!

He's perfectly matched to Tatha!! Their relationship (even though it's fated mates) is the sweetest thing ever. They get to know and learn each other and their love story was PHENOMENAL.

Once again the author's imagination blew my mind and the world of the dragons came to life in a way that made me wish I was there!

10/10 recommend!

2.5?? The storyline overall was fine, but definitely kept falling a bit short for me. Like, the bones were there with not enough flesh. Ya know? The main characters were pretty one dimensional, which was disappointing because it was set up where more development could have been sprinkled around really well. If your looking for a pallet cleanser, quick read, enough plot to keep you turning the page, smutty novella, then totally give this a whirl.

The Dragon King by T. B. Wiese - oh my 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I loved Kemremir in the Elemental. But now…swoon! This book is a spin off novella that gives light into the Dragon King himself. Slendidly written. I couldnt put it down. The spice was…chef’s kiss! Yes there was a dragon sexy scene! No more spoilers! Go read this book!

Light on Plot

This was a short, mediocre story. Thata and Kem are really one dimensional. Now, the author does a good job of writing smut. But, I like my character development on the page and not off it.

Not a stand alone, and buyer beware of beast sex... Kinda caught me off guard. There was not really a plot in this book that made sense. Its also SUPER INSTA LUST/LOVE. I think i have to be in the mood for that, and i just wasn't. Overall I rushed to finish this book because i was over it.

I liked this one. It was cute. Kem and Tatha were amazing together. Also I loved seeing all the other characters that we saw in the Elemental especially a certain Seelie princess and her assassin.

I love Kemremir. He’s honorable, passionate, caring, and a dragon shifter king. Experiencing his story through his and Tatha’s was a cherry on top after his role in The Elemental.
