Information about the creatures that live in a variety of habitats is accompanied by detailed illustrations of scenes of the habitats in which young readers are invited to search for hidden animals.
Brought back memories (of World Tour and History Search). I like those better, but this one was nicely drawn as well. My gripe with this is that the scenes looked way too unnaturally packed, while the other two books managed to keep things somewhat believable, and with a rather constant difficulty. Here, some were outright drawn in a way just to mess with the reader, others were braindead easy. I had to check the solutions regularly not to help me find stuff but to verify if x animal I found was the one that I was supposed to, like at the farm, the turkey/geese/chicken looked the same and so did the penguins... But hey at least I learned Ryan Gosling is baby geese. Anyway, it took me like 2 years to finish this, not because I couldn't do it, but merely cause I didn't feel particularly motivated. Some locations' animals were super cute, though. I got it used from a local online marketplace.
In general, my son quite enjoys any picture find book, but he really poured over this one for daaays. Even I think the illustrations are well done, and it's more challenging than your average search book because the animals don't necessarily look like the example (they migh be far off, at a different angle or only part on the page). Provides a good opportunity to discuss animal habitats.
My kiddo loves the search & find books, and this one is especially good because the pictures of the animals he needs to find are not exactly like they are in the picture. This causes him to have to use his brain more, which I like. :-)
