Everybody loves a mystery, especially Barbie! She's always hot on the trail of some exciting case, collecting clues and using her smarts to save the day. But for Barbie, the best part about solving a mystery is getting the chance to help others!

Camping with Barbie in scenic Wyoming is an adventure for Stacie and her friends. But when rumors of the legendary Clawman creature start making everyone jittery, it's up to Barbie and the park ranger Ken to get to the bottom of the spooky legend.

I just love how Barbie can do absolutely anything and it’s no big deal. Hike 8 miles up a mountain with three kids in tow? No problem. Carry a tent and gear to camp out on said mountain? No big deal. Be calm & rational when everyone else around her is terrified? Yup. Figure out that the claw man is just some schmuck wearing a disguise? Yeah, she’s got that too. Come on Barbie let’s go party.

3 stars. I've always been interested in things like Sasquatch, Champ, etc, so I was interested by the premise of this book. It was quickly obvious what was going on, buy I didn't understand it fully, so I enjoyed that bit of mystery. The cowboy really ticked me off, though, refusing to shut up like that.

this book made me want to go hiking/camping and i am not an outdoorsy person.

i think i mostly liked this one because it was about characters i'm now familiar with. camping books are pretty cliche but this one pulled it off nicely. like i seriously want to go hiking in the metroparks near me today. the culprit was also hilarious. i cannot believe some dude would try to imitate a mythical creature in the hopes of drawing it out. imagine living that life.

thought it was notable that whitney was not present despite stacie & co. vowing to remain friends with her...guess that's realistic.

Not really impressed with this. The characters have different names than the dolls, like how the Whitney doll is called Katie here.(In reality, Katie dolls were a cheap knock-off of the Stacie & Friends dolls.)

The story is about a photographer that hears about a monster sighted in the area, and dresses up as said monster to get pictures. Of course, the children are scared. But, the repeated "monster calls" are just mockingbirds.

I normally find the "Barbie" series books to be almost as insipid as the movies, but this one has a "Scooby Doo" kind of feel to it since there is a creepy creature on the loose (who ends up being a guy in a costume.) The story is fairly interesting and mercifully short.
