When the love of Deja's life agreed to let his wealthy father pay her off to stop seeing him and let him move on with his football career, she left town and never looked back. She's made a life for herself in Atlanta, with her own cosmetics business, but has never forgotten Owen Walsh. Now, she's going home for her ten year class reunion.
Owen Walsh had his heart broken twice, once when his girlfriend, Deja, broke up with him and again, when an injury ended his professional football career. Now, he's back at his alma mater, coaching the high school football team. With the class reunion coming up, will he see Deja again?
Sometimes, things aren't as they seem. When Deja and Owen discover this, can they find a way to heal their broken hearts and make the life together they always should have had?

What a beautiful and sweet short story this was. Owen and Deja were childhood sweet hearts with big dreams of running away after graduation and getting married. However life threw them a curve ball and a betrayal left them both heart broken and alone. Ten long years have passed and both still hold a candle who's flame never extinguished . Meeting again at there high school reunion showed them both that the fire they had for each other was still burning bright and they were both going to go up in flames . Truths are finally revealed and as upsetting as it was both were learning to let go and forgive. I really enjoyed this story by Author Anne Welch. It's a quick read but very light and has a happily ever after.
Short sweat and to the point they both believed each other had broken each others heart only to find out it was all misunderstanding that let to them missing out on ten years of happiness and bliss. They decided to give each other another chance and forgive those that needed it.
I like the stories I read to be more developed. This was a very predictable short story. I just did not feel the connection between Deja and Owen. Everyone wants a second chance with the one that got away. But, I wish the story had more depth. It was just too short for my liking.
