The Road Beasts: Hawk Honorary Member: Mature Romance Over 40

Rate this book
Hawk is a loner. Even as an honorary member of the Road Beasts and a member of the Winged Avengers, he prefers solitude. Getting attached to others has always ended in pain for him. Everyone he loves dies, including Cara Sampson, a beautiful misguided woman that belonged to someone else.

Despite that, they had a brief affair, and Hawk wanted to be attached to someone else for the first time in his life. He compromised his mission and warned her to get out just before he was taken off the undercover assignment. He found out a few weeks later that Cara was dead.

Broken-hearted and dismayed, he vowed never to let anyone into his heart again. He dedicated his life to serving his country. When the ache in his heart has eased, Hawk learns that Cara isn’t dead and isn’t who he thought she was. Now he must figure out if the woman he knew twenty-eight years ago was just conning him as part of her job.

Meh (contains spoilers)

I just couldn’t get into this romance as there were too many missing parts and Amethyst was so un likable. Let’s start with the missing parts, we know where Amethyst and Hawk met but have no clue about Hawk’s past apart from the vague CIA overseas. We are also lead to believe that Both the h and H still love each other after 28 years and are ready to start a relationship. Really ? They don’t actually know each other so it’s unbelievable.
The worst part though was the casualness with which Dale’s situation was treated. Giving your child up for your job is unusual and too little time was spent on this. Amethyst basically decided what was best for Hawk based on her view of her job and it’s importance. Now after hearing Hawk’s story for all we know he would have been happy to raise Dale.
As for Hawk, his reaction to Dale and Amethyst didn’t make sense. It was almost »oh you’re alive and I have a kid, great pass the salt ». Any rational person would have an issue with this and would distance themselves from Amethyst whilst forging a relationship with their kid. She didn’t grovel nor offer any kind of serious apology beyond lip service and then she had the gall to talk about trust, be upset because he didn’t communicate with her for 2 weeks.
By the way how old is she? Also the language of Brazil is Portuguese not Spanish.

Rekindling Love😘🥰❤️

Reunited and it feels so good🎶. Yup that’s the song that kept playing as I read Hawk and Cara's story or love, loss and love again❤️.

Hawk is a loner by choice but hearing the name Cara has him out hunting for her. Cara aka Amethyst is surprised when she comes face to face with Hawk😍🥰😍. It’s sweet to see how happy Hawk is to find her and he took the information that Am shared much better than expected😊. Am still working for the agency meant her life is in contstant danger and having history allowed Hawk to know how she operated👍🏽. Good thing his Road Beast brothers were quick to help in a delicate mission that not only affected his new found family but Lica’s case as well. I loved how Am’s family welcomed him in and it was so heart warming to see him happy being part of a family❤️❤️❤️. One thing that was clear is that the 28 years apart didn’t diminish their physical, sexual attraction🥵😈🥵.

This was the second book in the Road Beast series and it was just as good as the first. Im glad that Hawk was able to have the love of his life back and to be part of a loving family🥰😘🥰. Im ready to read the next book in the series is Lion.

Still in love after twenty eight years

When Hawk found out that Cara/ Amethyst was still alive and not dead after 28 years, the flames of their love had not died but flickered back to life. Am had a lot of explaining to do. She had to explain why she faked her death and why she kept a big secret from him.

Hawk knew that 28 years changes people but he still wanted to see if they can get to know each other again. But Amethyst's case was taking a turn neither she nor Hawk expected. Everything Ammie did was to protect her son Dale, and Hawk would do everything to protect his new family. After all, a real family was what Hawk always wanted. Now he has one 28 years later.

This was a fast-moving drama with a mysterious plot twist I was not expecting.

In book two of Kimberly Smith’s The Road Beast series Hawk learns the woman he loved and thought to be dead is alive and goes by the name of Amethyst. As Hawk and Amethyst attempt to navigate the second chance they have been given a threat from their past will arise.

Overall, I found there to be plenty of enjoyable elements in this story. These mature characters' stories are well-developed and the world-building is great.

I received an advance reader copy of this book from the author. This review is purely from my perspective, and all opinions are my own. I am under no obligation to review the book.

A little boring

This one didn't make the grade. How old did you say these people were? I don't want them to act like old people, but you had them acting like teenagers. Dale acted more mature. Does anybody in this series get married? I hope the next one is better and ends better. At least you talk about the other characters as a continuation. Lica and Hawk are together. You also kept the storyline going with Mike and Tanya, Carl and Eden. That's what made me keep reading and gave you three stars.

Great story

Another great read by Kimberly
Full of action, suspense, family, loyalty, and of course the appearance of the Road Beasts
Hawk finding his lost love was great and finding himself with his own family was great to read
There was some twists and turns that we can always expect in Kimberly’s books
Another enjoyable book getting ready to read Lion’s story should be interesting

Hawk - Everyone's Advocate

It was great to read Hawk's story! Hawk the advocate for all the other Beasts finally have his own family. I love Ms. Smith's plot development, never expected to see Dale to be introduced to both contestants for baby daddy! I enjoyed the maturity of the main characters as they faced decisions from the past!

Amethyst’s reasons for keeping such an important and life-changing secret from Hawk were not compelling. Throughout the book, she exhibited many selfish behaviors that were off putting. Hawk was great. He was forgiving and loving. But I just couldn’t identify with Amethyst because her actions made her unlikable.

A long time coming, but change is coming!

Amethyst waited 28 years to connect her son with his sperm dad and to settle in her heart that she did love Hawk and wanted to be a part of his life! There were some outside interference to clear up, but all 3 are now happily reunited!

This damsel is not in distress, it's all about choices. Hawk is just the man to pull back all her layers and open her heart to his love. The mystery of their "jobs" surround them in serious danger and they work very well together. Fast paced, engaging and suspenseful.
