Any book I can't read until the end, I typically give 1 star. However, parts of this book were fascinating. Sadly, making someone a saint is such a bureaucratic and political and boring process that I can't imagine any way to make it interesting.
As a mystical atheist, my interest in saints and saint making comes from a very odd place. I don't hold the pope and his pals in high regard. So it was difficult for me to feel any reverence for these guys as they handpick saints.
Still, I learned some interesting facts. Seeing the book sit on my table, untouched for a month, finally convinced me I'm not going to finish it. Perhaps I should be looking for more historical and skeptical books on saints, assuming I want to look into this subject any further.
