The corrupted, chaos of the past is playing catch-up with the present and nothing is as it seems. Everyone wants something.
Me? All I want is the truth.
I thought this was the end, but it turns out it’s only the beginning. The basis for a much darker twist of fate. Secrets are starting to unravel; relationships have grown fractured. In all this, one thing has become clear. No one will make it out unscathed. No one is safe.
Four hellhounds. Two families. One ending.
Only the resilient will recover.
RESILIENT QUEEN is the third book in the Hardin Hellhound Series and should be read after SHATTERED PRINCESS AND BROKEN HEIR. This is the conclusion of Rory and Cole’s story.
I had been a fan of Amber Vant’s since I picked up the first book in this series but dammnnn! This book hit differently.
There were so many twists and turns and ups and downs and all the good stuff! I dove head first and obsessed over every last second of this book.
You guys aren't ready for this one! This series is so much more than just a high school romance. This is one of those sagas that had me waiting, holding my breath, for the next words, next chapter, next everything! From start to finish this book grabs you and sucks you in and doesn't let go.
Be prepared for what's coming because I'm still dying. Get ready because this is one series you won't be forgetting anytime soon!
Amber Vant you are truly a gift and I can’t wait for more books in the future.
OMG!!!! Can we just take a second and appreciate the brilliance that is Amber Vant!?!?? I mean seriously!! This person can write. A. Story.
From start to finish I was held captive by the intensity that is Cole and Rory and it only got better and better with each book. Then BAM! Resilient Queen comes out and smacks me across the face all over again with its plot twists!
Vant promised us an epic ride and she delivered it like a turkey on thanksgiving! I loved, loved, loved everything about these characters and their development, not only with each other but as individuals as well.
Such and intense read that will forever stick with me! I’m obsessed and now all I can think about is what’s next up for another hellhounds story. Finn and Hailey I’m ready!!!
“If he was the drug, then I am the an addict, and his mouth is the fix.”
“You’re the only edge worth falling from.”
All Rory remembers from that night was icy blue eyes and the smoke that enveloped her as the fire spread. The night that changed everything…
That small crescent moon dangles from her wrist as she searches for the truth wanting answers. Secrets unfold and tensions rise as things aren’t as they seam and relationships crumple to dust.
“Together we are everything that is perfectly imperfect, and that’s fine with me.”
“If I owned the world, Rory would be the one holding the oxygen I needed to survive within it.”
Will Cole and Rory make it out together or will the past haunt their future and take them both down in a fiery blaze?
——————————————
5/5 stars You think you’re almost done and then another twist of events brings you back to rethinking what happened and why the fire started in the first place. Answers and an ending to a well loved series but the beginning for someone else’s new story…
This doesn’t even begin to describe how much I’ve enjoyed this series!!!
The Hellhounds world owns me and I’ve officially been swept away into their universe! This series has had me hook, line, and sinker. 😫😍 It’s one of those that I never wanted to end so it was bitter sweet once it finally happened. Don’t get me wrong though that doesn’t mean I wasn’t in for a ride. Is anyone surprised by that though?!?!! Vant knows how to keep you guessing from start to finish and this book was c-r-a-z-y!
In the beginning it was Rory versus the strong-willed hellhounds and boy did they not except the “new” her once she came back. Rory killed it this entire series and what can I say I’m a sucker for a heroine who can hold their own and make even the strongest man weak at the knees. 😏 The amount of push and pull in this whole story was as epic as the entire plot.
I love Vant’s unique twist on romance, and with this series she has outdone herself!
The hellhounds all have their secrets, but Rory’s and Cole’s unwind spectacularly from start to finish. This story held me captivated and in Resilient Queen we finally get all the answers.
The evolution not only for Rory and Cole but the other hellhounds floored me. The story was dark, twisted, raw, steamy, and downright sinister! I loved it all!
I cannot wait to see what’s next for these Hellhound boys! A must read!
After the last book left us on a cliffhanger this was such a good conclusion to Cole and Rory’s story! What a rollercoaster of a ride! There was still so many secrets, twists and turns to uncover and they did not disappoint! I really loved seeing how much Cole and Rory’s relationship grew and also became unbreakable but also having their own identities outside of each other - that stayed strong even in the epilogue! I also loved how everything always came back, there wasn’t any clues that were left open ended and unanswered! So grateful to have been on this journey with the hellhounds and can’t wait to read about the other boys and see them take on college!
We FINALLY get to the end of Rory’s story and Holy S^&% it is a wild ride! Everyone is still reeling from the shocking news revealed at the end of Broken Heir and Rory is desperately trying to get through to Finn that Family is the most important thing. REAL Family. Your chosen Family. In the midst of all of that Silas is still trying to figure out how he has suddenly lost all of his shares at Hardin and getting no closer to the truth along the way. Hitting dead end after dead end. Cole and Rory have the most intense but connected relationship I may have ever read. They just instinctively know what the other is feeling/thinking and know exactly what to do. When everyone in the group starts talking about College Rory starts to feel like she’s still the outsider since she never knew that kind of privilege growing up. When Lorna starts popping up and wreaking havoc for everyone but especially the Hellhounds. Plots are discovered. Secrets come to light. And the biggest shock EVER is about to hit them all at once. . AHHHHH this book was SOOO GOOD!!! I read it in a day! The writing is so intricate and descriptive in the best way. You really feel like you’re feeling everyone’s feelings as things are happening. The twist was PERFECT and WOW I did not see that coming! 10/10 this book is amazing!!
I was obsessed from the very first book and the series only got better with each new book! The journey these characters go through is intense to say the least. 🥵😏😅
My favorite part was how this story kept me guessing up until the very last moment and then BAM! It gets real!! So many twists and turns and perfect book goodness!
I loved everything about this series and will forever recommend to those who love a dark enemies to lovers/ bully romance!
SYNOPSIS (of the Trilogy): FC was abandoned by her father save for one visit in 17 years until her mother dies. She is then made to go and stay with her father, stepmother (who hates her) and step brother (who despises her). Step brother and his two best friends are the Hellhounds and elite of the school that she is made to attend. All are wealthy and privileged. There's the obligatory BFF the FC meets on day 1 and the required bitchy girlfriend of the MC. The story arc covers the FC falling for the MC, the discovery of why she was ignored by her father and the general mystery surrounding her upbringing. The MC falls for the FC around the end of Book 1 and there is ultimately a HEA.
Where to start? This trilogy gets worse and worse with each book. Whilst the basic story arc, whilst not even remotely unique, is still decent enough the standard of writing is dreadful. To the extent that I actually wondered if this author's native language was English. That or she really needs to understand how to use a Thesaurus. For the love of God get an editor! I genuinely have huge respect for anyone who can sit down and write a novel and this author has the basics but, unfortunately, a complete inability to deliver. This series is a mess.
I am just glad I got these on KU as I would not have read the full trilogy - although I was majorly skimming by the end. The drafting or writing errors were so bad that there were sections of the story that you could not actually understand what was happening. There are so many sentences where the author uses a descriptive word or phrase that doesn’t make sense with the result that the writing flow is interrupted and the reader is left confused as to what is being said or described Examples: "relenting I take refuge on her"; "I swear if Madison makes me stay here any longer because of her perpetuate attitude..."; "I've accustomed him with hatred and wrath"; "for some aghast reason she like it here"; "I cover my hand with my mouth" (not a mistype as this phrase is used a few times in the books); ""I know baby" I say lowly, disdained"; "her movements are mulled, slow"; "confined to my arctic of isolation"; "I'd been too brass"; "equal in our unescape from each other"; "the facts vet to nothing but another mystery of dead ends" - and they go on
The plot is full of holes where something happens and then there is no follow up or explanation afterwards. When The FC discovers the conservatory for the first time she says she’s never seen it before but she was at the house 5years prior. How could she have missed a room that is apparently as large as the conservatory? You also never get an explanation as to who planted it and why it was apparently abandoned. When the FC has a fight with Lorna there is no mention of it subsequently or of Lorna and any consequences of the fight. The book with the red cover and the whole story arc around that again seems pointless and the scene with the rare book man inserted into the story to add drama but with no real addition to the story. Finally the whole "I was assaulted" section was actually an insult to women or children who have been assaulted. The author uses a row with Lorna (who somehow knows about the assault but you never find out how) to have the fact that the FC was assaulted at around 13years old, to become known to the Hellhounds and Abram. Yet once this is brought to light there is no discussion after or any sign of trauma on the part of the FC or any further mention for that matter. I find it distasteful when authors use this type of serious topic just for drama and fail to take it seriously. Its was also another case where something happens and then is never mentioned again.
The back story for the FC is incredibly thin. Whilst there are some flashbacks in Book 2 you don't actually get any real information and what you do get you are left to figure out for yourself. You don't ever get a full explanation. There's no reference to whether the FC was attending school, how clever she is or any friends she may have had. You are also left to assume she covers the rent for the trailer in which she apparently lives and any electricity etc. Not sure how if she is attending school and working as a part time waitress. The story around the FC's visit at 13years is never explained i.e. why was she visiting and why exactly did her father just send her away again and ignore her? The fire is never completely explained, the reader is just left to cobble together what happened from various references through the books.
There are many parts of the book that go beyond suspension of disbelief and are just therefore annoying as a result. The FC’s apparent lack of interest in exactly why her father not only cut her out of his life but failed to ensure she and her mother were supported is unbelievable and unrealistic. Accepting him after he’d cut her out of his life for almost 18years just because he started being slightly nice to her was also unbelievable. The result is that you never really understand why Abram acted as he did. Yes there is a brief flashback from his point of view with Lorna but are we supposed to believe that someone as rich and powerful as Abram could not find a better way? This FC is supposed to be strong and yet you don't really see any evidence of that. The backstory for Abram is again, superficial and lacking. I'm not sure how anyone can feel any good feelings about a man who behaved as he did. I think the author is trying to justifying his actions but it doesn't work. Not least because there's no real attempt by Abram after the FC returns to really get to know her.
What can I say about the climax of the story where the author clearly stages a type of "Agatha Christie denouement". She brings all the characters together to explain why everything has happened and yet fails to do so in any way that makes sense and also fails to explain why Lorna is in the house in the first place or knows anything about what the answer was. ***SPOILER*** The Will makes absolutely no sense in terms of what it says and the ownership of Hardin and how it passes also makes no sense. If the company is owned by Silas and Abram then they are the only ones who can dispose of their holdings. Just because you marry someone you don't then get full ownership of their assets or the right to transfer them let alone the ability to transfer ownership of the assets of someone to whom you are not married or related. I'm not sure what planet the author is but none of her "unveiling" makes sense and or would be possible. It’s not a case of suspending belief it is just completely ridiculous. Further, the idea that someone would commit suicide to trigger a transfer of ownership that doesn’t happen until at least 10years in the future - beyond ridiculous; the idea that that is the only way to stop Cole from being required to take over a billion dollar business (boo hoo for him) - also beyond ridiculous especially as it turns out he wants to work for the company. Here’s an idea - just say no or how about appointing someone else to run the day to day? The whole hidden box and key also makes no sense. The first box found does not fit the key but they manage to get it open and it "explains" how the ownership of Hardin has been transferred (or not). However later Cole comes up with another box which does fit the key. You never find out what was in the second box but what does that mean for the first box? Were two boxes left? In which case where was the key for the first box? But then there's a reference to the first box not being the real box. If it wasn’t real then there was no transfer? Colour me confused as this was the most convoluted, impossible and laughable ending I have ever read.
High School Romance Enemies-to-Lovers Bully Romance Brothers Best Friend Mystery Drama
Then you need to read the Hardin Hellhounds series. I have had to dash through the first two books ready to be able to read and review this one (reviews to follow for Shattered Princess & Broken Heir).
We have our hero Cole, who is the intimidating, highly arrogant and alpha hole bad boy.
Then we have Rory, our heroine, who is kindhearted, independent and feisty. She is guarded and has reasons for this. She doesn't put up with any crap from anyone.
After the epic cliffhanger ending regarding Finn in Broken Heir, we finally get the answers we have been waiting for even though there were more twists and turns revealed in this book.
I have loved reading how much Cole & Rory's relationship has grown and evolved throughout.
Resilient Queen is the final book in Cole and Rory's story, but don't worry, there is more to come from the Hellhounds. Watch out for Finn & Hailey's story in book 4, Revived Noble, coming 2nd April 2023
I received an ARC of Resilient Queen from the author Amber Vant
This is the third book of Cory and Rory’s story and it wraps up their story. What a ride it has been! The ending of Cory and Rory’s story was fantastic. I really enjoyed watching their love grow throughout the books. There were so many secrets, twists, and turns to keep you on your toes.
I can’t wait to see what comes next for the Hellhounds!
I felt like this series was pointless. We knew what was going to happen the plot twist was cringe but expected. The grammar is shocking and normally I’m not that fussed about that stuff. But when I’ve had to read the paragraph 1000 times to try and make sense how I’m one minute at the lake house and then next at the school. The authors writing is very confusing she’ll talk about something but won’t mention the specifics until later. For example in the end they were talking about how sad “she” wasn’t there. Now she could’ve been talking about her mum anyone but a few pages later we figure it out and that explains majority of her book confusing and jumbled up. This definitely needs to be edited. It’s got a lot of potential it just keeps on missing the mark so a 3 star is me being generous.
Don’t mind me just over here just crying because I didn’t want this series to end! 😭 I loved everything, and I mean EVERYTHING about Cole and Rory’s relationship and how far they came throughout these books!
The only saving grace is that Finn and Hailey still have a story and I was the first to sign up for it as soon as I saw it!
The hellhounds!!! Aahhh! Go read you won’t regret it! ❤️🔥❤️🔥
By the time I got to book three, I was hoping that the story would finally dig deeper. That the FMC would step into her power or the relationships would get real development. But again… it fell short.
Overall, book three felt just as basic as the first two. I wanted more complexity, more character growth, more substance… and the series just didn’t deliver.
Another night I lost to sleep finishing this series! I devoured these books!!! OMGGGG it was so good! ❤️❤️ I loved the everything about Rory and Cole! I could read these characters over and over again and never get bored! 1000/5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Cole!!!! 💞💞 I love him so much! The ultimate antihero that I live for! I’m so sad at how quickly I became consumed with Rory and Cole’s story because now it’s all over!
Next up Finn and Hailey! I’m not sure my emotions can handle it but I’m here for the ride!!
I feel like Rory and Cole spent literally no time togther in this book every chapter focused on something with one of them and another character and barely their relationship I’m disappointed Ngl
