This was one of the most influential books in my life. It has made sense of many experiences that were confusing and disturbing. It debunks much of the superstitious beliefs about the mystical experience while it also gave me a great respect for the rigorous investigation that goes into these experiences by the Church. It is very readable while at the same time, it is truly a scholarly achievement.
