Willing to do anything to keep her crown and survive the royal court’s treacherous maze of deception.
Today, that queen is me. Tomorrow… Who knows?
When I killed Viktor and took the throne, I thought I’d rid our kind of their worst threat. But the joke’s on me, because there’s a new enemy on the loose. He’s stronger than any of us—seductive and cunning—and has his sights set on me. Caine’s the worst of our species and threatens everything I love, but he’s in for a surprise, because I intend to be the last one standing when this is over.
♥♥Iron Queen is the fourth book in the Darkfell Vampire Clan series, which is intended for adults. This MMFM is filled with unforgettable characters, magic and steamy romance! Recommended for 18+ due to language and sexual situations.♥♥
Fueled by black coffee, ice cream and bad nineties music, L.A. McGinnis spends her days writing best-selling steamy fantasies filled with damaged heroes who long to be whole and smart, authentic heroines. A life-long fascination with storytelling inspired her to weave these contemporary tales of legendary fated mates where the princess never needs rescuing, but sometimes the hero does.
I zoomed through this series over a week and I'm satisfied that everyone got their happy ending, and the big bad was beaten finally! Though I wish we had gotten more of Cyrus and Luther on the romantic part.
This book was a page turner and I could not get enough of it! Seraphina is Queen facing a deadly enemy. With her faithful mates help she is able to defeat him! So much action and suspense. I really liked this book.
So the big bad guy totally leveled up as the series continued, from Viktor to Katarina to Caine:
"I measured him up, noting the small changes in his appearance. Despite my vow to ignore him, I was fascinated by Caine’s continuing evolution—from blood-smeared primitive to elegant male—in a few weeks. Tonight, he wore a well-tailored suit of sedate blue wool that showed off the breadth of his shoulders, a crisp white shirt, and silk tie. If I wasn’t mistaken, his shoes were handmade. To the eye, the alpha vampire presented a civilized, drool-worthy package of peak male attractiveness. To my eye, the bespoke clothing barely hid the savage beneath."
Protective alpha vampire males? Yes. A newly minted, yet increasingly strong vampire queen? Yes. Vampires gathered together to have dinner, including garlic bread? Amazingly, and amusingly, yes. An air of sensuality woven through the book, peaking in delightfully erotic scenes? Yes. Magic, darkness, and evil swirling together? Yes.
The culmination of the series is best finished in a breathless binge, stepping away from the mundane world to fully immerse in this one, with a brief break to download more work by the author. While I still would read more with these characters, the story arc had a satisfactory conclusion.
Oh my fangs! I love this book! I love this whole series. This fantasy, reverse harem romance with vampires who use magic has been an epic saga. Just because this is book 4 ad the last part of Seraphina’s story, doesn’t mean anything is easier. There's plenty of fast-paced action, thrilling suspense, breath-taking battles, steamy scenes, and an evil villain. There’s so much good stuff going on at the same time, plus it’s not the usual reverse harem fantasy story: Seraphina has one man who is her mate (Deston) and two men who are her friends, protectors, and lovers (Luther and Cyrus).
This book continues with the battle of good vs evil (Viktor, Katarina, Caine, and others). Similar to the previous books, just when I thought I knew where things were going, I was surprised by a fabulous plot twist.
I think my favorite thing (and least favorite at the same time) about this book is how vampires can get sick. They are not (all) immortal. Human medicine might help with some things, but magical maladies might not be cured. This has made Iron Queen so suspenseful and poignant.
I also enjoy how the three men who love Queen Seraphina have issues with being in her harem. It adds a dash of realism to this vampire fantasy. They all argue, or fight, or take some time to themselves. Having said that, there is a happy ending, as well as a super steamy group scene with all of them together.
I am a little sad this series is over, but it looks like there could be more vampire stories in the future.
Now that everyone knows who Caine is and that he supports Seraphina, they are truly afraid~ She will make many bargains with him to save those she loves and rules over. There will ALWAYS be a price to pay in the end though…Cyrus and Luthor are still intent on unmasking Deston and his secret, Deston is staying away trying to unravel one of his own, Seraphina is doing everything possible to keep things afloat alone…but there is something wrong with her…what is it? Is it killing her? Caine will predictably try to cause chaos between the four to take what he desires…the true unmasking of him will terrify and anger Seraphina at the same time. Her father is still defending Caine, why? When things go sideways, they will have a literal war on their hands. If they destroy Caine, they all die…so, what was the secrets behind his imprisonment? They will search long and far for the answers needed…will they find them? Prepare for the final battle~ Who will come out alive? Changed? Dead? This is the book you will not want to miss!
It was a decent plot all the way through the series, with this one wrapping it up well. I feel like the ending was a little anticlimatic in how little space it actually took up in the book, and there was no struggle with absorbing the magic or time spent taming it at the end of the book, which could have added to the book in my opinion and let us live in their HEA a bit, which I always appreciate. This seemed odd given some of the comments made about how corrupt the magic was leading up to it, but it was good enough. I will say that by the time the series got to this book, the spice was pretty minimal, just FYI in case that's something you look for.
The one thing that frustrated me throughout this entire series (though this book was slightly better) was the amount of typos. Words just straight up missing or switched around, or you could tell that during editing a word or two was added, but the old phrasing wasn't removed, so it's just a jumbled sentence. Annoying considering this author is popular enough and has enough books published.
Serafina may be queen of the Darkfell Vampire Clan but some of the older royals are not happy with the changes she wants to make and will plot against her. Worse yet, Caine has decided to stay in New Orleans. It soon becomes clear that he has his own plans that involve Serafina which she wants nothing to do with and he will let a mysterious disease kill her if she doesn't agree to his demands. With nothing left to lose Serafina and her men devise a desperate plan to save her and end the threat to all vampires, the witches, humans, and any others who might oppose Caine's rule. I loved all of these well written, unique, and fascinating characters. They're interactions and reactions were absolutely riveting. Magic, murder, bloody battles, romance, and unexpected twists in the plot kept me engrossed from the first page to the last. I highly recommend this book and this series. Fantastic!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
The final installment in this series brings more action, more angst, and secrets that the reader has been wanting to know will all be revealed. Caine is the biggest threat to Seraphina, and even though he shows support for her, he’s ruthless and has his sights set on Seraphina and the throne, and will destroy the world if he doesn’t get his way. On top of all the problems, Seraphina develops an incurable blood disorder because of the different magics competing against each other inside. She needs to move fast to complete her goals before the disease takes her life.
This was a great ending to this group, even though the very last pages felt a bit rushed. The epilogue was a great addition and I really wished authors included them more often at the end of a series or a book that it makes sense to. Even though this is the end of the Darkfell Clan, the author is treating the readers to more stories of other clans in this world. And I’m all in.
This is the last book in the Darkfell Vampire series. The pace was quick with lots of action throughout this series. I did notice a lot of repeat sayings and phrasing in this book. Seraphina has taken the throne. There are more threats to her seat. Her being mated to Deston has caused problems with her men. Seraphina struggles without them by her side. She is making plans and executing them on her own. As before, her plans cause trouble. Her heart is in the right place. Trying to bring the vampires into the 21st century is quite the undertaking. She will give everything to keep her men and her people safe. There were tears, but it was a satisfying end to the series. Quick reads. I recommend the series for fantasy readers that like a little spice.
I can’t believe this series is over! I was super into these books and the storyline. I loved the concept of there always being a bigger monster out there so I was very excited for the last book. I really liked how Caine was introduced and you never knew if he was bad or good. What I didn’t like was how Seraphina was separated from basically everyone for the entire book and I’m also supposed to believe that her men took so long to realize something was wrong. The end was very fitting and wrapped up nicely, it just happened too quickly. For all the bad luck this group had throughout the series, the ending just didn’t quite add up to me. But overall a good series to read with a strong female lead. I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy.
McGinnis's last installment of The Darkfell Vampire Clan series certainly doesn't disappoint. Everything in the 3 prior books leads up to the ultimate face off between Serafina (and her lovers) and Caine. Honestly, Serafina is down to her last ounce of whatever she has, but will it be enough? I absolutely love this series. Great characters, great world building and probably one of the sexiest vampires out there. McGinnis has a knack for dragging you to the end, even when you are digging in your heels to make it last longer while reading it as fast as you can to see how it turns out. To say I love this series would be an understatement. Can't wait to see what she delivers to my Kindle next!
This was a great conclusion to the 4 book series! More information was discovered, the characters continued to be developed, and the storyline was amazing!! Downside, Seraphina’s character seemed to be confused about how she felt half the time. She would be super angry, and then just forgive everything instantly! She would demand information, and then just let it go until the next day. There were a few instances with all the characters similar to this that just didn’t work for me, taking the book from 5 stars to 4. But overall, I enjoyed this series and would recommend it!
Really good. Really great series with a satisfying, hard fought, clever final installment. Was on the edge of my seat... not ready to say goodbye to these characters 😭😭💔 I will say that this book has the most editing mistakes of the four I've read. Not a big deal but it was a little jarring! I love this series so much that I didn't mind it too much but it was enough for me to mention it. I'm such a sucker for vampires. And this series is just so so so good.
I’m mad! There was a whole chapter of Cain and I really thought he was gonna be one of her mates too and he’d learn to accept the other men just as Deston had with the other two after a while…. You really made me think he was a descent man in that chapter and just was fooled by Lilith as Abel was also, but nooooooo he made her like that before he was finally put down and she foolishly let him out! Well at least she barely manages to take his power and off him for good this time in the end! I’m excited to read your other reverse harem series in this world build of yours! I’m intrigued to know how they’re different and even if there’s other supernaturals that come about in any of your stories, I mean we had Cain and Abel which were sons of literal God turned vampire, so I’m wondering if maybe other supernaturals were made too by God and if he comes into play in any of the other series even. Or if the characters from this one maybe show up a bit in the other series! That would be fun too!

Very good conclusion to the story. I loved the escalation that occurred between Sera and Caine. Also appreciated the short but sweet epilogue being from Deston's POV vs our MFC as it's not something you often see. I personally hate stories that wrap up the future for the MCs too much. I prefer them more open ended allowing me to envision where things could/did go. Will definitely be checking out some of the author's other series when I'm ready for another vampire focused RH.
So this started as a rather frustrating series as I made the mistake of starting it before completion. I'm glad I stuck with it though because it has been pretty good! unique but consistent and stays pulling you in the WHOLE way. If you can binge it? GO FOR IT!
I loved this whole series. This final book was my favorite. They were all full of surprises and deception but with Cartoons running rampant it really increased the drama. I knew there would be a happy ending. I was very satisfied with it. This whole book was a war. Mostly psychological but a war nonetheless.
I could not put these books down. I read all four in two days. The author made the characters come to life. The intimate scenes were steamy , and the battles seemed too real. I would definitely recommend this set of Vampire books to anyone who enjoys hot male vampires and their stories.
There aren’t enough words to express how wonderous this series is! It is full of action and suspense, enough to keep you completely immersed in every page. I loved everything about this series and all of the characters involved. I very highly recommend you reading the whole series. I know you will not be disappointed!
While I read the book, I didn’t completely love it. Maybe this is because I missed the first three in this series, and therefore came in completely blind. It’s well written, and has an interesting world with good characters that are distinct in their different personalities.
I enjoyed reading this and the whole series. The suspense, sex scenes, and the twists and turns kept me reading into the wee hours of the night. I couldn’t put it down until I finished. Highly recommend reading this series along with giving it five stars.
This series is worth reading. Its very different. You're wondering what's next, will there be love, will there be hate, who's being hurt by emotion whether good nor bad. It keeps you wondering the read.
I absolutely loved this series! I am so glad I got introduced to this author through a newsletter! I will be reading everything else I can find from her. Highly recommend!
I finished the Blackstone Clan and immediately had to read the Darkfell Clan. If you love vampire/ paranormal books - you will love both series. L.A. McGinnis writes a world you are drawn into - and it is impossible to put down the book.
I love vampire stories and I have enjoyed reading this set,I look forward too reading more of them in the future.I would like to say thank you for all your hard work and may fortune smile 😃on you always 😁from a bookworm
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Vampires, Witches, an extraordinary being. Lore from the creation of the vampire race along with battles and intrigue. RH with plenty of spice and drama. Non stop action.
Absolutely in my top 3 series favorites. I loved Queen Seraphina and family. Every book was great reads. Never any dull boring areas, always interesting and holding your attention.
There’s nothing like a strong female protagonist, with flaws. This series was a joy to read, love, treachery, jealousy… you know what I mean… family bs.
