Grayson's Ghost is a heart-warming tale about a little boy's journey of receiving, recognizing, and responding to the Holy Ghost. It teaches readers about the specific roles the Holy Ghost fills and how to apply these two prophetic statements:
“In coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost.” President Russell M. Nelson
“The Holy Ghost is the greatest gift we can receive in mortality.” President Wilford Woodruff
Nearly everyone gets their ghost when they turn eight, but no one can see anyone else’s ghost. Grayson is afraid of ghosts and is determined to learn to recognize them before his birthday so he can stop his ghost from scaring him. Grayson asks all his loved ones, “how do you recognize your ghost?” As he learns about all the wonderful things your ghost can do for you, his mind is changed. Grayson desperately wants his ghost. But when his birthday comes and goes, he still can’t see his ghost. He continues his investigation, but now he is asking questions, not to help him hide from his ghost, but to help find him. The result is a heart-warming revelation that changes his entire future.
GRAYSON'S GHOST is the ultimate LDS baptism gift for boys. There is also a girl's version: GRACIE'S GHOST, that makes the ultimate LDS baptism gift for girls. Both books are also available in Spanish: FANTASMA DE GRAYSON, and FANTASMA DE GRACIE.
The book also includes a list of sources, questions, and coloring pages that teach how the Holy Ghost performs each of these roles. Together, they make an excellent resource for parents to initiate faith-building conversations with their children.
“This is a brilliant and thought-provoking message for children. It takes a complex subject and teaches it in a way that is clarifying and enticing for child and parent, alike. I think this book will fly off the shelves. The creative artistic figures are absolutely wonderful and I am very impressed with the support references that verify the reality of the story.” Ardeth G. Kapp; former General Young Women’s President, Former acquisitions agent at Deseret Book, and Best-selling Author of 'The Joy of Believing' and 'Better Than You Think You Are'
"A beautifully illustrated, tender story of spiritual discovery and the heavenly comfort available to all of us." Betsy Green; Best-selling Author of 'Proceed with Caution' and 'Above Suspicion'
Being confused about the roles of the Holy Ghost and how to recognize him is easy!
I think Rayden does a phenomenal job at visualizing the different ways the Holy Ghost helps us. I can easily see young people referencing this book and its visuals when unsure if they feel the Spirit to ultimately understand and appreciate him more.
This is an amazing children's book. The illustrations are adorable and captivating. This book explains the Hold Ghost perfectly to a child to where they would understand it. It would make a perfect baptism gift for any child in your life.
Great, simple explanation of how the Holy Ghost works. Explains it in a manner that is simple enough for kids but relatable enough for young adults and adults alike to appreciate.
This book offers a unique perspective in aiding a child recognize the Holy Spirit. I appreciated how the Holy Ghost had a different resemblance from person to person, as I would imagine we each visualize the Spirit differently. This wasn't something I thought much about. The illustrations are also very well-done. Ultimately, this is a book that I would have likely appreciated as a young boy who also had difficulty understanding how to recognize the Holy Ghost.
I enjoyed the way this was written and illustrated. It seems easy for children to relate to the story and follow along, while helping teach an important gospel principle. It's a great addition to our children's gospel related library.
I think this is a great story! It teaches children how they can recognize the influence of the Holy Ghost in their lives! It is fun, but more importantly it teaches simply and realistically. 5 stars all the way!
This book is is a very good read and an important step for all young boys to learn to be like Jesus. There is too much hatred and bullying today. If all children learned to respect each other and help others like was mentioned, the world would be a much better place to live in.
When a child turns 8 he gets his own ghost. The story follows Grayson and his search for his "ghost". An interesting take on the Holy Ghost from the bible. A good book for kids if you are introducing them to Christianity.
