A USEFUL BOOK PRESENTATION OF THE CREATIONIST MUSEUM
The Creation Museum is a 75,000-square-foot facility located in Petersburg, Kentucky. It---as well as its “sister” attraction, the Ark Encounter in Williamstown, Kentucky---is operated by the Answers In Genesis [AIG] organization. [NOTE: page numbers below refer to the first 2008 edition.]
AIG president Ken Ham explains in the Introduction, “The vision for the Creation Museum is something that percolated in my heart for over 30 years before it came to pass. As a public school teacher in Australia in the 1970s, I took my students on excursions to science museums. I was burdened when I saw them being exposed to evolution and millions of years as fact. Evolution and millions of years was a stumbling block to the students considering the claims of the gospel… my cry to the Lord was: ‘Why can’t we have a creation museum that teaches the truth?’” (Pg. 7)
The book notes, “Did you notice the animatronic children have middle brown color skin? As people find out later in the museum’s Babel exhibit, all humans have one basic skin color and Adam and Eve probably started out as middle brown.” (Pg. 13)
It explains the “Charles Templeton Exhibit”: “This exhibit brings to life a sad example of what can happen when the church tolerates the teaching of millions of years and evolution. Charles Templeton, once a popular evangelist alongside Billy Graham, abandoned Christianity and wrote a book called ‘Farewell to God.’ His situation has been repeated millions of times by young people who are brought up in a church that accepts ideas about millions of years and evolution, unaware it erodes the very foundation of faith.” (Pg. 34)
It states, “As people walk through the lush Garden of Eden, visitors learn how Adam could name so many animals in a single day. Experience the beauty of creation as you see the dinosaurs living alongside Adam and Eve. Yes, dinosaurs lived with people---they didn’t die out millions of years before people appeared.” (Pg. 42)
It points out, “The zonkey… the Zorse… and donkeys all belong to the horse kind. This helps people understand there can be great variation within each kind of animal God created. And it was animal kinds that Noah took aboard the ark---a dog kind, a cat kind, a horse kind, etc.” (Pg. 91)
This book is richly illustrated with color photos. There is also available a DVD, “Journey Through the Creation Museum.”
I guess I should have waited until after the pandemic to read this book. The museum just looks so cool that I can't wait to see it in person. Totally awesome that a museum that showcases actual, real, true science exists.
I wanted a book to prepare me for a visit to the Creation Museum. This book did the job very well. I also got the creation Museum Signs book that helped a lot too
Journey through the Creation Museum is a coffee table style book that kids and adults alike will enjoy flipping through. I did lower the rating on the book slightly because of one section. It was entitled “Men in White.” There is a film that they show in the museum and is described in the following paragraph. “Where a young girl has some very important questions of faith, two unforgettable (and very entertaining!) angels show up to give her vital biblical answers in this special production.” A photo of the “angels” accompanies the description and it depicts two men in cool white sunglasses, white jumpsuits with supposed haloes around their heads. We have found Ken Ham to be a trusted source for our family, and I know that his heart is to honor the Lord, but I think productions such as these, have the opposite effect than is intended. In the Scriptures, people are consistently shown reacting to angels in the same manner. They fall down in fear/admiration/dismay. Although I don’t doubt that this production makes very good points, it’s a mistake to take something that the Lord created in awe inspiring majestic way, and dumb it down to this level. In the end, what people go away with is something opposite of what Scripture conveys. This section is only a couple of page though and the rest of the book is definitely worth the read!
In Ken Ham’s introduction, he explains how Jeremiah 20:9 was laid as a foundation to put a “fire shut up in my bones.” This in depth introduction to the Creation Museum makes it obvious how such a place could be used as a tool to both encourage and disciple Christians. Readers will get to see the Stargazers Room where astrophysicist wrote and designed what looks like a truly awe inspiring program. The mail hall section includes page size photos of the many exhibits. One of the finest sections of the book is the part that allows you to “walk through” and see early Bible figures. From Adam and Eve in the cave of sorrows, to Noah building the ark, (complete with an animatronic figure building the inside of the ark!) The Dinosaur Den section will be a favorite section of the book for the kids---it is absolutely astounding what has been done to depict accurate dinosaur figures. Amazing. The book also covered the Flood Geology room, the palm plaza, petting zoo, and nature trails. After seeing the book, it would be enough to convince anyone to go to the Creation Museum. I have no idea how large it is, but by the looks of the book, there is enough to keep a family busy for several days!
If you’re not able to get to the museum, the book itself will be a treat to page through. Stunning photography. Excellent captions. There wasn’t a dry section in the book. Kids and adults alike are sure to love this fine book.

JOURNEY THROUGH THE CREATION MUSEUM ----------------------------------- Unfortunately, the book contains a few glaring grammatical and editorial problems.
However, for anyone who cannot go to the museum (no matter his or her perspective on the issues), this book basically walks the reader through the museum, step-by-step.
The photos are beautiful, and I appreciate that the publishers "put it all out there," basically stating, "Hey, this is what the museum contains and is about."
Obviously not everything about the museum is represented here, and it would be a fair statement, in my opinion, to say that the book is both an advertisement for and invitation to the museum.
