This book is everything. I was lucky enough to be the editor for Gabrielle Delacourt and I cannot describe to you just how talented she is.

Goal Suck is the first in the PuckHeads hockey romance series. It follows Dakota and Wyatt on their journey as they find themselves, and each other. After a tumultuous relationship with a hockey player in the last, Dakota swore off the sport and everything it entails. But when she meets Wyatt, she feels an instant connection that defies her rules. Wyatt wants to prove himself and show that’s he’s worth it, that he’ll be the kind of man she always wanted and deserved, but it’s up to Dakota to decide if letting down her guard is worth it.

I’ll never stop shouting from the rooftops about how amazing Gabbie’s writing is. I thoroughly enjoyed her first book, Beautiful Danger, but I can say without a doubt that this book excels in every way. Her style, voice, characterisation and flow have all developed so much, creating such a compelling and engaging book in Goal Suck.

When I say it was my honour to edit it, I truly mean it. It was such a joyful experience to read these words, connect with Dakota and Wyatt, and be hooked by this plot. Goal Suck is witty, steamy, romantic and absolutely brilliant. You’ll be terribly disappointed if you don’t pick up a copy of this wonderful book!

Thank you, Gabbie for allowing me to read an eARC of this funny and sexy hockey romance!

I have become a sucker for all things hockey romance since introduced to the genre. There's something about a hockey player finding love in the most unpredictable places.

Dakota is someone who hates the game of Hockey and is dragged to a game by her bestie, Sterling. Then enters the stranger sitting next to them who starts up a conversation.

*Skips ahead* Dakota and her friends are introduced to a group of hunks who unveil themselves as professional ice players (the sport kind). As the story develops you find yourself rooting for Dakota and Wyatt (who dat?) right from the start. I love how Dakota and her besties, Lani and Sterling, go from zero to puck bunnies all in the name of the sport and love. My words probably don't make any sense because I have so many happy thoughts and words for this story. I've only read it three times. It's fine.

All of the side characters that are introduced make this story so enjoyable because they truly help shape the main characters and their endgame. There is so much that unravels and leaves the reader wanting more, so I'm SO happy this is a series.

I refuse to give spoilers, but if you love a girl gang meeting a bunch of hockey hunks; add this to your TBR! The banter, comedy, sly remarks, and sexy scenes is something all you thirsty readers should devour to fulfill your needs. Honestly, Goal Suck is a journey of finding love in the most unexpected place.

This is more of a 4-4.5 star read because it was just so beautiful and relatable on a personal level. There also aren't enough hockey romance books out there.

This. Book.

Thank you again to the author for the advanced reader copy of this beautiful book. I’m absolutely floored by how much I loved this!! This was my first hockey romance (first sports romance, also) and it did not disappoint. I was sucked into this book and it did not let me go. After picking it up, I binged the entire first half in a single sitting. Dakota and Wyatt have my whole heart and I adored every single page of their story. Everything from the dynamic to the extremely well written cast of characters. Dakota is a badass and might be one of my all-time favorite MCs. I thoroughly enjoyed every single page. It’s spicy, it’s romantic, it’s full of moments that will make you feel all the feels. If this is what hockey romance is like, consider me part of the fan club.

Oh what a book was this! From the first page I was sold. I had only read the first 3 chapters and I already laughed so much😅

How can you fell in love so quickly with these characters? I don't really know, but I do know that the have stolen my heart since chapter 3.

This book was amazing, there is no other word for than that I freaking loved it. Every time I started reading, I just wanted to kept going. So this book resulted in a couple of late nights😅

The author has done such a great job, it was like I was really inside the book. Like I was meeting these characters myself and feeling their pain. And I really loved how it all turned out. Koda is such a strong women, she fights for what she wants, although she finds it sometimes very hard to do so. And Wyatt just support her through so many things.

I am looking forward to read more of this author. And last but not least I want to thank the author for providing me with an earc.

So first off I love this writing style. It’s so chill and modern. Super easy to read and get entangled in! Amazing story of the FMC overcoming her internal struggles from past relationship trauma to truly heal. I loved the storyline from the beginning. OBSESSED with Wyatt and Dakota’s dynamic. Sterling and Roman are *chef’s kiss* everything you want on a BFF. Just enough spice to leave me drooling and it’s beautifully written. I literally loved every single thing about this book and canNOT wait for book 2.

PS: anyone have Wyatt’s number? I either need an upgrade or I need him to teach my husband a lesson in wooing 🥹🫠

Wyatt & Dakota, competitive match made in paradise!

I do not normally read sports romance but when this was recommended to me I figured why not? THIS DID NOT DISAPPOINT!!! I love when a book hits all the feels and this one hit all my boxes! I could relate to Koda and how can you not love Wyatt? Delacourt is being added to my follow list and I cannot wait to read the rest of the Puckheads series!

Gabbie has done it once again and given us another must-comfort-read!!

This is an ARC review (thank you, gabbie) and what can I say? I can't get Dakota and Wyatt out of my head. I can't get their friends and family out of my head. Give this book a chance, a full-read, brainrot-for-a-week chance. I'm so SO glad this is the first of a series because it has left me wanting to read more. Just more. The rating is closer to 4.5 stars, the writing was smooth, the characters lovable, the settings (i want to be there), the suspense, and the cooldown had me hooked. Did I say comfort read? Because if not, comfort read!

Definitely due for a reread post-release!

My thoughts: I loved Dakota and Wyatt. The way that Wyatt just melted and was infatuated with Dakota like she walked on water. The way that he stands up for her and understands her and never rushes her. Can I have one of him please?? I loved the banter, the wit, and moments where you just go “awe!!!”. Part of me was broken then repaired reading this. The spice…. Oooooo boy yes please!! The authenticity of the hockey world is not over looked and a hockey fanatic like me appreciates that. Releasing October 4, 2022, you better be running and adding this to your shelf!!

no cheating and a hea

SPOILERS

thought he must’ve known her with how him and sterling seemed to be having a private convo with their looks always and he was obsessed IMMEDIATELY. seriously? she talks shit about hockey and ur like “she doesn’t know who i am i’m gonna take this opportunity and make her mine my dicks hard” he wanted her so bad so fast wtf lmao i’m moving to LA and playing oblivious with celebrities if that’s all it takes. i mean she wasn’t playing oblivious but if all it takes is the person not knowing u and not wanting u for ur career im doing it
i hate insta love/attraction/everything SO MUCH but this honestly didn’t bother me as much as it usually does. still very weird
since it was so fast there was no sexual tension so idk if that’s why i didn’t like the smut or cuz it was just written bad💀

if i had a dollar for every time this girl moaned while eating. stop writing wattpad lines

THE ENDING OH MY GODDDD

it was so stupid she left like he did smth he drank like he lost her forever she laid in bed like he died and she’d never get the chance to see him again. it was so weird. u need to heal and work on ur relationship with ur family fine take a couple weeks and also get some therapy talk about it with wyatt why did she just leave like that. he accused her of running which she was she was just running and made it seem like it was cuz of him just wtf. wyatt was there for her the whole time and she left then hurt sm cuz she was scared of never getting him back. it was so stupid i can’t even fully explain how stupid. so mad i was thinking about rating it a 3

then u just throw in the tanner part at the end it would’ve been better before all that shit happened cuz i would’ve actually maybe cared at all

i skimmed the rest of the book. jaiden is being a dick and sterling needs to grow up very fast. wtf u just grabbed her bday and engagement cake to rub his face with it? extreme respect/likeness for both of them lost. can’t find their book available to download anywhere idk if it’s too early (weird it’s been 2 months) but i also don’t know if i care. i mean i wanted to read them but i have a bad feeling it’s just gonna be them arguing a lot

I absolutely adored this book. The characters, the plot, the romance, the hoCKEY !! I could not get enough. Gabrielle Delacourt’s writing style is so captivating that it will have you hooked from start to finish and eagerly turning the pages of this book.

From the moment I began this book, I was so captivated by the story. As we meet Dakota and Sterling, we learn that Dakota absolutely despises hockey players. Despite that, they find themselves at a hockey game. We then meet the amazing and captivating man, Wyatt Alexander Lane. When I tell you that I’ve never fallen in love with a character so fast, I mean it. I was rooting for him the moment we met him and was practically screaming at Dakota to trust him and let him in.

Dakota was such a lovable MC and I related to her so much. Seeing her growth throughout the novel was honestly beautiful and made my heart so happy. To see her work through her traumas and learn to love again was incredible and I admired her strength beyond everything.

As Dakota and Wyatt got closer and fell in love throughout the novel, my heart was so full and I could not wipe the smile off of my face as I eagerly flipped the pages of this book. I think one of my favorite parts was getting to see Dakota become increasingly comfortable around Wyatt and admitting to her love of hockey again once she realized that Wyatt was nothing like her ex.

I also loved being able to witness Dakota’s love of art and tattooing and I adORED the whole set up of her shop and it being so heavily influenced by books. Bookish tattoos hold a special place in my heart, so I absolutely loved this element of the book.

Overall, this book was such a joy to read. It was the perfect amount of romance, amazing characters, hockey, and spice. I cannot wait to read the next installment in the series! I rate this book 5/5 stars! 🌟

I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I never in all of my years reading books thought I would end up reading a hockey romance. But I did. I never thought when I would read a hockey romance book that I would love it. But I did.

I will tell you, never say you don't like something until you try it once. I am so happy that I had the opportunity to read this book. The author does an amazing job at bringing these characters to life. I found myself missing them when I wasn't reading the book and I found myself sad (But also happy because I loved the ending) when it was over. I craved more of the characters and their world.

I wanted to be friends with these characters. I wanted to join them on a Friday night game night and be part of their group. The banter between them all is perfect. I laughed, I got frustrated and even concerned. When an author and a story can bring out all the emotions, I know it's good because I'm a pretty bottled-up person when it comes to reading. So when I express my emotions on the outside while reading that for me is a 5 star, but this book has so many other reasons to also make it 5 star. Oh and not to mention there's spice/steam! I need the physical copy on my shelf immediately. So if you haven't read a hockey romance and have wanted to or if you do read them and looking for another one to read. Pick this one up!

Again, I can't thank the author enough forgiving me an ARC of this book!

I wasn't sure what I was going into when I picked up Goal Suck. I'm not a hockey fan, it's not a big sport where I live and I'm not a sporty girl. The blurb sounded intriguing but honestly I follow the author on Instagram and she's lovely and this was a book club read.
So with that I picked up this novel and didn't put it down. I read it in a day. It's absolutely freaking fantastic! I loved every minute of it.
The writing style is easy to follow, it flows well and for me there's no part of the plot where I'm going urgh let's skip. It's fast-paced and addictive and my gosh the spice (I didn't expect spice) but it's a spicy one. It's great.
The characters are all believable and likeable..well a part from Tanner, he's a dick!
I loved the fact the side characters weren't side characters they had a purpose for being there. Wyatt I loved! But I think I have a secret crush on Roman.
Each character is multi-layered and their problems are real-life problems. It makes them feel more realistic.
Dakota is a feisty hard on the outside kinda girl but deep down she's like us. I loved her realness. I loved how the characters grew throughout the novel.

The only question I have for myself is Why didn't I pick it up sooner?

I highly recommend this novel. Pick it up it's a fantastic read and I'm now reading book 2

PuckHeads Series
Book One: Goal suck

Authour Gabrielle Delacourt @gabbiesshelf

“Dakota,” he says, his voice deep and dark. “I’m a selfish man, and I very much don’t like the idea of you with another man—"

“Lady, have you seen the way that man looks at you? He wanted to eat you through the glass. Plus, I have never seen Wyatt show off like that for any woman.”

This is my second book I've read by Gabbie but my first ever hockey romance I decided to start off with Gabbie's as I know how much she loves her hockey romances. I was not disappointed and I think I have a new obsession with hockey romances now 🤷🏻‍♀️

Gabbie just has the talent of writing amazing characters to the point that I fall in love with each of them. I know this book was about Wyatt and Dakota but it also had so much more to it with the growing friendships and family with each of these characters. I felt so connected to these characters, mostly Dakota, as I too grew up with hockey being a huge part of my childhood.

I absolutely loved Wyatt's character and how perfect he was for Dakota and how processive he is of her, but she was also the missing piece for him too. Their relationship might have started as a bet but it grew into something so much more and it was an amazing ride from start to finish. I honestly can't say enough incredible things about this story and the character inside this book.

Goal Suck Review 🏒

I love a hockey romance and Goal Suck was such a fun start to a new hockey series! Dakota and Wyatt have great chemistry, their friends make up an incredible found family, and he falls first! Goal Suck is full of great banter, a strong, supportive girl gang, and swoony, sweet, alpha hockey players. I am so excited to see what happens with all of their lives as Gabrielle Delacourt continues her Puck Head series!

Confession - besides being a hockey fan for quite a while, and a reader my whole life, I’ve never read a hockey romance before 😱. I have a million on my TBR but haven’t gotten to them. I know, what’s wrong with me?!?! When I saw the opportunity to read this book I decided to finally make a hockey romance a priority.

Dakota is a book loving tattoo artist who was burned in the past by a hockey player and Wyatt is set on convincing her to give him a chance. This is full of humor, amazing friendships, a swoon worthy hockey player, and lots of romance and spice. It even made me cry - which is rare for me!! I cannot wait for more books in this series!!!!

The author does have a trigger warning so check that if you need to.

This was my second ever sports romance, I’ve never really paid much attention to hockey but the story line seemed like one I’d enjoy and it didn’t disappoint.

The tattooing book loving badass and the sweet but sweet but cocky hockey player make for an interesting mix; especially when Koda can’t stand the sport or so she’d like you to believe.

What I loved most about this story though were the underlying details.. there are definitely a few triggers in here but watching Dakota find her strength through them was a beautiful thing. Everyone needs/deserves love even when we’re at our lowest and think we don’t and Wyatt proves this to her over and over again.

If your looking for a cute sports romance & can handle the triggers this is definitely a good read

I had such a good time reading this one. There is something about Hockey romance that is so fun. I don’t even really know much about hockey in real life so it’s funny that it’s the only type of sports romance that I’ve ever read.
The characters really make this story. I love Wyatt so much. He is so sweet and considerate. I thought their relationship was really great. I will say that there definitely were some steamy scenes sprinkled throughout the story. I thought the author did a great job of making the story feel well balanced. I loved seeing how supportive Dakota and Wyatt were of each other. Their romance had the perfect build up, will still giving me the little touch of spice I love in a romance book. The side characters introduced also had great amount of personality. They all felt vital to the story.
The plot was equally as enjoyable. I loved the drama with her ex. There was a lot of growing and baggage that Dakota had to work through. I loved how wrapped up her family was as well. It really packed a great emotional punch.
I am so excited that this is a series. We’ve met some fantastic characters who also have a lot of growing to do. So I can’t wait to see their stories in the future. Gabrielle Delacourt has a new fan in me. I can’t wait to check out her other work in the future. I highly recommend if you are looking for a hockey romance.

I was so excited for my first EVER arc and hockey romance!! Gabrielle was my first lol 😉. After receiving her arc I devoured it. Whats not to love hot men, talented women, bonds, romance, tattoos and of course hockey!! The "courting" of these friendships/relationships made me fall for each character and instantly crave their company. If you love hockey you wont be disappointed the authors love for the sport came through on POINT!!! I cried, laughed and absolutely fell for this book. Although I selfishly want more of Wyatt and Dakota, I'm excited to fall for the next characters in book 2 of this series. READ IT, YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED. xoxox

(Might come back later if i have the energy to txt a proper review)

Overall a great read in terms of characters and story, even if a lil' bit unrealistically dramatic in sum regards.

But something that personally bothered me constantly were paragraphs full of sentences that felt like they were missing connectors.

A constant stream of I, I, I sentences that felt interrupting to the reading flow.

And it's not like this was due to inability of the author as she managed to put plenty of decently flowing paragraphs and well connected sentences to paper.
But in contrast to these well written sentences, the badly written ones stood out even more.

I didn't know what to except in this book but I really enjoyed it. The romance, the characters, the pace, all and all it was really good!

I flew through this book, I really liked that the beginning was quick and overall really liked the dynamic of the book. Dakota and Wyatt's relationship was full of banter, sweet moments and laughter. I really loved their evolution throughout this book.

The side characters are everything, the found family trope is top tier. You quickly realise that you will need a book on all of them and I think that's the plan

I can't wait to read about theses others characters and see Dakota and Wyatt again !

First of all thank you to Gabrielle for giving me and ARC of this for review!

I LOVED this! I’m a sucker for a hockey romance and this absolutely delivered. Wyatt Lane can get it! (Honestly so can Dakota.)
This book has great banter, supportive friendships, and some pretty damn good spicy scenes.

TW for domestic abuse. The abuse happened in the past, but a lot of this book does focus on the main character healing from that. Dakota felt very real and raw in the way she reacted to and dealt with situations while still navigating this journey of healing from a toxic and abusive relationship.

This was such a fun sweet and spicy, cozy hockey romance. And this book made me FEEL things. The FMC is living my absolute dream life: tattoos, books, coffee and a hockey player that’s head over heels for her? Sign me up twice, please and thank you. Dakota (the fmc) has story is an all too common one and Gabbie’s voice in the writing was so easy to relate to, empathize, and really root for her.
Spice level: 3.5/5
