Not sure if it was my mood but this one was just ok for me. Too much back and forth between the relationships. The jealousy & romance were good, just didn't love the Sergeant broken inside & out.

Moral Note: Nothing I can recall that sticks out.

DNF 40%

So many things drove me crazy about this book.

1) Carly is so Fing whiney. And generally pathetic feeling.
2) I hate the social worker falls in love with her client trope. It is insanely unethical.
3) Of course he's hot and cold with you he was just injured you self absorbed twit!!! (hot being nice not HOT and cold being normal behavior for anyone in his situation)
4) It's all happening WAY TOO FAST! We are talking 3 days here.

Reece is a totally fine hero. But gah, the 40% I read had me alternating between rolling my eyes and gritting my teeth.

Nope, not for me.

During this Corona virus time, I ran out of books. I read one every 3 days. I was in lockdown at my condo complex, so when a friend said she would send some books over to me, I was thrilled. They were all Christian lit. romances., most by different authors. Never having read any Harlequin books, I started in, almost stopped right away, but kept on. Two of them were Three Rivers Ranch books. The stories were ok but things happened too fast. On page 2 or 3, the pretty young gal was already falling for the handsome cowboy. No lead up whatsoever. I skipped the paragraphs about each one telling their thoughts about the other ( smelling their shampoo and aftershave) which was ongoing. These books are very clean, no swearing, sex, or violence. The Christian part was not overwhelming and these books all have a good ending. I can’t give a rating. In one way I’m glad I found out what these books are all about and can understand their appeal to gentle readers.

This was another good read in the series. In this one we have Carly and Reese. Carly is here to help Reese get back on his feet after an accident. She isn't supposed to date her clients. However, she can't help falling for him. After some drama and other stuff they finally get together in the end.

Carly works as Reese's case worker and when he falls from a horse with the horse landing on him, Carly works hard to fill his needs. What she didn't see coming was falling for the surly cowboy. A wonderful story of faith and hard work.

I'm quitting in the middle of the third chapter (out of 21). The hero and heroine being a client/social worker pair gave me pause, but I liked book one of this series, so I thought I'd give this one a try. For this kind of relationship to work in a book, it would need to start professionally, and with both of them eyeing each other right off the bat, this didn't do it for me. Carly was shallow, and Reese after their first meeting was trying to conjure up different ways to see her. So, no go.

Reese was injured in the military and after doing some therapy with horses he was doing a lot better. He had someone assigned to help with with shopping and doing things he had difficulty with. But she was moving and a new person was assigned. Carly showed up at the ranch in a purple car. That evening he was knocked off of the horses he was riding and ended up back in the hospital.
Carly was not sure about this job she was a city girl and not into Cowboys her last boyfriend had been one. But she needed this job Carly like Reese even though he tried to act like he did not need her help. After his accident he was even more grouchy but she did not give up on him. Loved this book

The story started out interesting enough to get me past the Kindle sample stage, but I should have known better when I caught the first glimpse of the usual christian romance angle. Just too shallow and cliche-ed for my liking. Even skipping ahead, nothing caught my attention. Not for me!

Story: 4.5 stars

*I received this audiobook in exchange for my honest review*

Reese and Carly are both insecure for different reasons, but their relationship gives them both strength and feelings of 'being enough'.

Reese is getting along fine when his Veteran Care Coordinator changes. Suddenly, his coordinator is a beautiful young woman and Reese is smitten. At first, he pushes away her offers of help, but then allows her to do little things, just to keep her around. When Reese is re-injured, however, Carly jumps in to help and Reese, who is ashamed to be seen as weak, is a growly, grump. Carly perseveres, though, and as Reese heals, their relationship deepens to the point where Carly could lose her job over it.

Carly feels that she doesn't measure up to her mom's expectations. She has an older sister and a twin who are much more successful than she. So she covers her insecurities with her beauty and a cheerful, if sometimes fake, smile.

This love story is fraught with realistic situations that need to be overcome for our hero and heroine to get together.

Narration; 4.5 stars

As usual, Ms. Doughty does a wonderful job! She has perfected a cowboy drawl and has a voice low enough to make the male voices believable.

I enjoy reading Liz Isaacson's books for a few reasons. They are usually quick, easy reads that are just plain fun for when you don't want anything too heavy. They are well-written and they include characters from past books that I've enjoyed. This one is all of those things.

I liked Carly. I liked the way she was willing to give up her whole life in Austin and move to Three Rivers when he gets hurt and doesn't have anyone to be with him all the time. It was just a bit crazy because she had barely met him, and he was her job assignment versus her even knowing him and he didn't treat her the best. He was pretty gruff and even a little unkind. But she stuck it out in a tiny little town.

Reese is kind of a fun character. He's a gruff cowboy who has already been injured in the war. He wants to be normal and not have to depend on anyone else to do anything for him. But then he gets injured on the ranch and needs someone to watch out for him. He really doesn't want it to be Carly, who he has barely met. But there's really no one else. I really liked the way he fought to keep her around when he realized that she was going to have to move.

This is a cute romance. It's a quick read that I enjoyed reading during some down time.

Carly and Reese

Carly has finally gotten the chance and promotion she's needed since getting her degree and she is going to Three Rivers Ranch to meet her first, and only, client at the moment, Sergeant Reese Sanders. As a veteran care coordinator she needs to meet him and find out if Lex's notes are up to date. When she meets him she's surprised by the pull that comes over her to get to know him better! Reese has just met his new care coordinator and can't believe how he feels about her, what's going on with him? Only after they finish their meeting, she returns to Amarillo to finish her paperwork and finds three new files on her desk! Then her phone rings and its Pete from Three Rivers and needs to know if she can give him Reese's family's phone numbers as he has been hurt and they are taking him to the hospital! She gets permission from her boss to give him the information and is also told to go back to Three Rivers and check on him! What happens next? Is Reese going to be ok? Will Carly and Reese allow what feels right blossom? Read this great story by Liz Isaacson and Elana Johnson to find out. You wont want to put it down till the last word!

I love Liz Isaacson, her novels are truly wonderful! It is hard to find an author who can distinguish between a Christian Romance Novel and a Contemporary Romance Novel, but Ms. Isaacson does it and she does it well! I highly recommend every novel that I have read, and I hope that every novel I plan to read in the future is of the same quality!

"The Seventh Sergeant" shows the broken side of a veteran, the physical pain instead of just the mental agony that stays behind after the war. Reese Sanders was Pete's first patient at Courage Reins and has finally began to find his way in the war with his disabilities, that is until an accident might leave him paralyzed permanently. Can Carly Watters help Reese fight his way out of the deep hole of depression? Can there be a love story here?

I recommend this ten novel series, each one is better than the last. Very well written, it's like a story coming off the pages before your very eyes.

🚨TW: accident, being pushed to join the rodeo (for Ethan), feeling that she is the family's disappointment, feeling of being useless.

Love Carly and Reese. Though Reese pushed her away because he doesn't want her to pity him because of his injury, Carly stood her ground and continue to help him in anyway she can. She is there for him all the way and as they get to know each other, their feelings grow too. And because of that her job is in trouble as well which cost her to find another job and love that Reese is trying to find ways to make her stay on. (can't spoil the story. You will have to find out when you read it.) This book made me smile, swoon, and at times frustrated because Reese is just so stubborn at times. haha...

You can purchase this on Amazon and it is available on KU.

Romance, clean, mild Christian Faith elements
Reese and Carly's story was a fun read. Carly was inexperienced, but determined to do something with her career. They both tried to walk around their feeling for each other, Carly because of work, and Reese with his injuries. As they got to know each other better, they both made compromises. Definitely a healing novel, with a fun attraction that finally worked out for them both. Always love seeing the characters at this ranch setting! Fun seeing some of the other characters in the background of this one as well.
Reese's injuries, his struggle with his job, his facing his injuries, and how Carly works her way into his heart, was a lovely read.
Another fun read!

This series is excellent. I enjoyed this book immensely. This book as well as the others are very well thought out and written. She seems to know details about the subject she is writing about that you wouldn't expect her to know about. I am surprised about what this author knows about military situations such as the fact that in offices such as communications sites and other work centers the troops are not armed even in combat zones. Also she seems to have a lot of knowledge about PTSD and some of the other things that servicemen suffer from. I really enjoyed this book and how each of them worked to get past the others defenses and despite Reese's disabilities Carly had the ability to look past them and see the man.

I liked this one best so far, the characters seemed more -how shall I put it - "current" is the word that comes to mind, more someone a reader like myself could identify with, and understand. Carly, new social worker for the veterans in Three Rivers, is assigned to Reese as his caseworker; the only problem, Reese doesn't want help, and even less does he want it from the pretty social worker who pulls at something he locked deep down in himself.
The dialogues between the two protagonists sometimes had me close to tears, sometimes chuckling, but always glued to the pages. Although some of the problems they faced - or thought they had to face - did not seem so big to me as to cause misunderstandings, this story was still more believable than the rest of the series.

Carly Watters has gotten a job as a veteran's care worker and she now has her one and only client, Reese, an injured veteran. She she travels to Three Rivers Ranch in Texas. Reese doesn't really want her help at first. But she just won't "go away" and she begins to get under his skin. He doesn't feel worthy enough for her. He sees him as damaged and unworthy of her love so he continues to push her away. Will he ever be able to see himself as she sees him, a man worthy of love?

It is book 6 of this series and it can be read as a standalone but it is nice to hear about other characters from the other books.

This is a sweet, quick read with a happy ending. I listened to the audio version of the book on Youtube and felt the narration was well done.

All I can say is that I have fallen in love with ms.Isaacson's writing. It is not like a lot of others I have read. I love how you can see each of her characters growing and all the relationships are not all roses. In this book you get to see how Reese and Carly are so different yet they are great for one another. Their story is so heart touching bc you feel the pain they are going through. You will see in this book that everyone can come back from loss and pain. I highly recommend this book for everyone to read

Marathon

I've been on a Liz Isaacson reading marathon for several days now. And each and every novel is a heart warming take where two flawed human beings find paths through the turmoil love and indecision brings them. Given that, each novel is its own story. This is the story of Reese and Carly, a wounded war veteran and a new veterans' case social worker, and the magic of Three Rivers Ranch. I totally enjoy Liz's writings and will continue to read them. I also highly recommend her novels to you.

Refreshing, heartfelt read.

While I have enjoyed all of the books in this series so far, this one was special. It deals with issues that can be difficult for someone who's recovery while complete hasn't and won't ever restore him to what he was before. In this story it focuses more on what attraction and love are really about, not the superficial looks(everyone is going to age, maybe get sick become weaker) but the inside, the emotions and true acceptance we all really crave.

Reese & Carly’s story was heart-warming, full of physical and emotional struggles. Becky Doughty has narrated this whole series and done a nice job. However, in this book she has had a very pronounced lengthening of the last syllable of the majority of words along with ending those words with ‘uh!’ “Hōōōm-uh”, “look-innnng-uh’…this got old VERY fast. Also, Liz Isaacson has used repeating a word 3 times repeatedly in every one of her books I’ve read. “Fine…fine…fine. Close…close…close. Hope…hope…hope.” It quickly gets wearisome.

Another wonderfully written story revolving around Three Rivers Ranch. This one is about a severely wounded veteran, Reese and his new happy go lucky (at least on the outside) caseworker, Carly. She manages to break through his defenses but loses her job for getting romantically involved with Reese. With no job for Carly nearby and Reese's commitment to the ranch, how will they ever have a future?

Texas Cowboy Veteran Romance
This is a clean and cozy romance featuring a wounded warrior cowboy. The plot is special and realistic. The story goes by quickly and left this reader wanting more. The characters, their emotions and their reactions are spot on realistic and believable. I have read other books in the Three Rivers Romance series and this is my favorite, so far. This novel can easily stand-alone and there is not a cliffhanger ending.

Seventh Sergeant Summary

I liked how Liz continued to honor Veterans in this book. The Three Rivers and Courage Reins characters are growing into a real family. The introduction of a social worker was a great idea. Seeing how God can provide for all of our needs in various ways. Looking forward to the next story. The charscters really deal with real life issues it is not just a romance. I highly recommend tge whole series.

Reese and Carly

I loved the story of Reese and Carly, they worked through their trials and troubles but worked it all out. It was so realistic I would love Three Rivers Ranch, I love in Texas and can't imagine living anywhere else.

There was even a mention of Frogeye Salad I didn't think anybody knew what that was.

I can't wait to get into Ethan's story.

I have loved the whole series of is just hard to put them down.

I thoroughly enjoyed this cowboy client romance. Reese has been flirting around the edges of this series for a few books now, originally I wondered if he’d be getting together with Lex, and while I didn’t know too much going into this book, I knew I’d come to love it. How could I not? I loved figuring out where the title came from!

I received a complimentary copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Sergeant Reece Sanders, discharged from the army is now working at Courage Reigns. His new veteran care coordinator, Carly Watters wants to assist him with tasks that he doesn’t need help with until he suffers injuries from a fall. Carly dislikes small towns and cowboys, but ends up falling for Reece. The plot of this book includes overcoming depression and obstacles. A great addition to this series.
