What if what we are witnessing is not the decline of the Church but it's rebirth?
The rates of decline in church attendance and the ticking demographic timebomb show that business as usual will lead to extinction. But out of these ashes there are countless reasons to hope. Signs and stories emerging from worshipping communities the world over can give us renewed confidence that, as always, God is doing a 'new-old' thing.
The Church that is emerging amid times of uncertainty is growing, alive and demonstrating the qualities of the early church recorded in the New Testament, one that is more diverse, more spirit-filled, more confident in the Gospel, calling, equipping and sending people to make disciples in all nations.
Written for ordained and lay leaders at all levels, this book will help you navigate these changing times in light of the immovable knowledge that God is always on the move.
There's a sentence towards the end where it says while this book focuses on the church of tomorrow, that starts today - and that's so true.
The book focuses on what the church should be like and should focus on. As the world changes and priorities and focuses differ over time, Christians maintain the same goal of sharing the Gospel and being ambassadors for Christ in a sinful world. It made me stop and think about how I can personally work on myself, but also what my church is, isn't and should be doing in sharing the Gospel.
I opened this book not knowing what to expect. I found a vision of hope, excitement. Here is something that attracts and inspires. It is "marmite"! To some it will be an anathema, to others, the Holy Grail. I am now sure it is either, but I want to follow the Wild Goose ;-)
A useful overview of where the church in general is going in the UK and where it should be going. We studied it in a group with our vicar and had some very interesting discussion, some people raising points or seeing content some missed. The book covers essential topics such as - prayer, leadership, the Bible, discipleship, outreach etc. A good read for anyone serious about their faith.
A challenging book of vision for the Church and how to become a partner to that, placing Jesus as Lord.. overall all of our lives. Praying come Holy Spirit i surrender to the great.. I AM. Continue your work of Revival.. start with me. Amen.
Fantastic book that challenges pre conceived ideas of what church and being a Christian means. Lots of tips too as to how to do this practically chasing what god is doing now
