Small town hero. Single dad. Sexy as hell stripper.

Not that I’m looking. After all, he used to be my best friend.

Hannah:

Hunter had me strictly in the friend zone. For years. Until he knocked up my cousin and I told him to go.

True to his word, he’s left me alone. For six long years. Damn him.

I still miss his easy charm and gorgeous grin, especially now that he’s captain of the Kissing Springs fire department.

When I agree to watch his son for a week during the holidays, Hunter sweet talks me into letting him stay at my place.

Something tells me this isn’t a good idea… or is it?

Hunter:
Six years ago, I made a mistake.

A reckless one-night stand that changed everything between my best friend and I.

Because I slept with her cousin.

That stupid move cost me our friendship and I ended up with a son. Now, even though Hannah’s the town librarian and I miss her like hell, we barely speak.

Until, thanks to a Christmas miracle, I have a good reason to reconnect. One she can't refuse.

And this time, there’s nothing friendly between us, but that’s fine by me. I've always wanted so much more.

Scorching Santa is part of the Welcome to Kissing Springs series, but can easily be read and enjoyed on its own. A best-friends-to-lovers second-chance romance, it has a great plot with quite a few surprises, plenty of heat, friends and a seriously cute side character. A lovely, heart-warming Christmas-time read.

Hunter and Hannah

Having read Macy's book, I needed to know what happened with Hannah and Hunter. Really enjoyed this book and now want to read Tanner's book

Loved the newest book in the Welcome to Kissing Spring series. Hunter wants one thing to make up for the terrible mistake he made to lose Hannah's friendship and trust. This book was perfect second chance at love story. New to Ellen's books and already a fan.

The author has given us a wonderful second chance story that pulls us into the lives of Hannah, Hunter and his son, Mason. The story keeps us turning the pages with heartbreak, regrets, needing forgiveness and steam.

Scorching Santa, Book 9 of the Welcome to Kissing Springs series, was about Hunter Williams, the captain of the local fire department, and Hannah Porter, the local librarian.

Hannah and Hunter used to be best friends until he had a one-night stand with her cousin six years earlier, which resulted in him becoming a father to his son, Mason. From that point on, Hunter and Hannah avoided each other at all costs...until her cousin, Macy, returned to town with her son in tow and asked her to watch him for several days while she sang backup for a more famous band. Hunter used that as an excuse not only to see Hannah again, but also to take advantage of his son's desire for him to stay at Hannah's place so they could spend more time together. The remainder of the book was focused on how the two, supposedly mature adults, were attempting to get along for the sake of the child. While there were frequent flashbacks to what happened six years earlier, the whole story was wrapped up in a matter of days.

There was the usual angst, though not very much, and the normal push/pull between the main characters, but the chemistry between them was virtually non-existent. As the author had the FMC state, they went from "zero to one hundred" virtually overnight. Even though the MMC had apologized six years earlier for his "oopsie" with the cousin of the FMC, she was still very much in the picture. Both the MMC and Macy (the cousin) admitted they were more than a little drunk that night, but that they were "both consenting adults" and knew what they were doing. Hannah had forgiven them both and was still on speaking terms with her cousin over the years, while at the same time, she had told Hunter to stay away, not believing he'd take her so literally and cut her off completely. Having the cousin still in the picture, and everyone being okay with being together, was just a bit too unacceptable. I mean, that wouldn't work in real life, would it? How does one woman look at another woman who slept with her love interest, and even gave him a child, and be okay with them still being part of their life?

In all honesty, it was a very uncomfortable story. Except for the one spicy scene between the two main characters, there wasn't anything special about it. They were rarely ever alone long enough to build a relationship, and when they were, it was more like pulling teeth with a pair of pliers.

The two main characters weren't all that well-developed, and their maturity level was sorely lacking. Any growth that could have taken place wasn't given a chance to blossom. I mean, seriously, the book was over before anyone knew what hit them. It was all shoved together and expected to be cohesive...but it was anything but. The author depicted this as a "second chance" trope. However, since they were never anything more than just friends in the past, the friendship was the only thing that should have been considered a "second chance".

I only gave this a two-star rating because it just didn't deserve anything higher. It was bad enough that I definitely won't be reading the next book...which, unfortunately, has the cousin from this book as the FMC getting her own HFN/HEA...or whatever this author determined she deserved. Personally, I can't find it in me to read it to find out how it ends.

Thanks to Booksprout and the ARC team for a copy of this book.

I felt really bad for Hannah when I read her part of the story. It reminded me a lot of that love triangle between Sam Uley, Leah Clearwater, and Emily Young from Twilight. I could feel Hannah's heartbreak and despair throughout the book; the fact that she could even take care of Mason without remembering what happened all those years ago was incredible. The emotional angst in this book AND the sexual tension between best-friends-turned-strangers Hannah and Hunter was scorching. Huh? Get it? Scorching.

Mason was a strange little child. He swayed between being really sweet at times to a possible sociopath in the making. He seemed like an old soul in the body of a five-year-old boy. It was hilarious. I liked his interactions with both Hannah and Hunter.

Another thing I liked about this book was that the flashback scenes were written separately rather than in the same chapter. One thing I'd been waiting for but didn't get to see in this story was Dillon and Meadow; they were both mentioned, but I believe their presence (even in only just one scene) would have made the story even better.

I'm looking forward to reading Cole and Macy's story soon. And the next season of these wonderful books.

Hannah is the Kissing Springs librarian and Hunter is the town’s fire chief and another Santa stripper in Kissing Springs. Years ago they were best friends until Hunter slept with Hannah’s cousin and fathered her nephew. Even though he apologized, Hannah’s heart was broken and she sent him away. For 6 long years they have avoided each other as much as possible, living in a small town, and have seldom spoken in all that time.
Things change when Hannah’s cousin Macy shows up with Hunter’s son, Mason, asking Hannah to watch him for a few days. Hannah reluctantly agrees, knowing Hunter will want to spend time with his son, and things get even more tense when Mason begs Hannah to let Hunter and Daisy, his dog, stay over, too. She agrees, and the question becomes can she avoid her attraction to Hunter and survive these few days with her heart intact? And what about Hunter and his heart? Only the next few days will tell where they will be, still strangers, friends again, or much more.
This is one of my favorites of the Kissing Springs Santa strippers . The characters and story spoke more to me on this one for some reason, and Mason was so cute.

All the high reviews are making me wonder if I read a different book. I'm sorry, but this book had very little romance and the characters weren't even that likeable. There was nothing scorching about it (just one scene and it was forfettable). The townspeople are nosy and not in a charming way. Hunter and Hannah both messed up in the past and it broke their friendship apart. For most of the book, they both blame each other for their misery over the last 6 years. All of that could have been resolved with just a bit of communication. Heck, it could have been resolved early on in the book and we'd have gotten to read the story of how they fell in love again instead of just being told they were in love the whole time and nothing had changed in 6 years.

But what really gets me is that Hunter signed away his rights to his kid. Why? And what father does that and still goes to visit said kid over 5 years? Granted, it was only a couple times a year, but he was still there in his life as his father. Maybe this author doesn't know how custody and parental rights work, but there were so holes in that key part of the plot that I was left scratching my head.

This was the only book I've read by the author or this series, but you don't have to read the others to read this.

This book gives readers a funny, oh so steamy and very entertaining second chance at love romance. Hunter is not only the town’s Fire Chief, he is a part time stripper (so when he starts a fire, he can put it out). Six years ago he made a big mistake that hurt the one woman he wants in his life forever, Hannah, but also made him a father to a little boy. Hannah, unfortunately, goes out of her to avoid him now, but a favour for her cousin could change everything between them this Christmas. Hannah’s cousin asks her to look after her son Mason (who is also Hunter’s son), for a few days. Mason of course wants to see his daddy too, so Hannah has no choice but to allow Hunter into he home for his son’s sake. Hunter could use this opening as a chance to reconnect with Hannah, to beg her forgiveness and to hopefully bring her back into his life. It won’t be easy, Hannah is not a pushover, but Hunter is charming, hot and super persuasive. Little Mason is a hoot, the townspeople are wonderfully nosy meddlers, and Hannah and Hunter are meant to be together.

So I guess I have a thing for Firemen. Who knew? You will too once you’ve met Hunter the Fire Captain in “Scorching Santa”, number 9 in the Kissing Springs Santa series.

The book starts by introducing town Librarian Hannah who had been best friends with Hunter since childhood until the day he broke her heart by sleeping with her cousin and getting her pregnant. Since then they have barely spoken.

Written with one of the most true to life depictions of the all knowing/nosy nature of small town living. The book follows along as Hannah and Hunter get thrown together just before the holiday and are forced to come to terms with everything that did and didn’t happen six years ago, all as the entire town seems to follow along.

The author does a great job of capturing the yearning, the frustration, the hurt and the excitement they both feel as they work through the process, and how Hunter’s little boy helps all along the way. It was a great way to end the Santa portion of the Kissing Springs series.

*spoilers* Hannah and Hunter have been friends since kindergarten. They both had more than friendly feelings for each other but he broke her heart and trust when he spend a night with her cousin six years ago and became the father of Mason. Hunter is also the chief of the fire dpartment and a hot Santa stripper. After Hannah kicked him out after that fateful night they tried to get out of each others way, as much as it is possible in a little town liek Kissing springs. Hannah works in the library and also she tries to pretend otherwise still feels deeply for Hunter and closed herself off. Somehow this Christmas she agreed that the son Mason can stay with her for a week, but he will not be the only one. Hunter is detrmined to finally go for the woman he always wanted.
This is a second chance romance with intensive emotions who feel very real. Trying to do the right thing will hurt even more. The other characters in this little town are quirky and special.

The Welcome to Kissing Springs multi-author series has been a huge holiday gift to me as I have been introduced to a slew of authors I had somehow never read before - and I've become instant fans. And Ellen Brooks with the ninth book in the series, Scorching Santa, is no exception. Hunter and Hannah's story is a combination of several favourite romance tropes - second chance, best friends-to-lovers (even enemies-to-lovers), small-town romance - and it is such an enjoyable read. It's a full circle story where Hunter's five year old son, whose conception originally tore apart two nineteen year olds who had been best friends since kindergarten, brings them back together. It's a steamy, fun, swoony romance between two imperfect characters who are perfect together, and one I couldn't put down after I'd read the first page. I'd be hard pressed to pick a favourite in the series, but if I had to, Ms Brooks' Scorching Santa would probably be it.

young stupid hurt
I wouldn´t want to be in Hannah and Hunter´s shoes: when your feelings change from friendship to love, when you´re not sure if the other one feels the same, when you rather keep your mouth shut about your new feelings than ruin the friendship you have, when you make a stupid mistake with consequences and by honoring the feelings of the one you have hurt make things worse...
Fortunately we all get wiser and older and with some determined pushes from friends, relatives and interfering townsfolk second chances can make everything better.
I liked the tows spirit, little Mason and Daisy, all those wonderful characters made this book a cozy holiday season read.

Scorching Santa is a cute holiday second chance romance between high school best friends reunited with all the forced proximity.

Hunter and Hannah are thrust back into each other's lives (pun pleasantly unintended) when Hannah is asked to babysit her cousin's child, who also happens to be her ex-best friend's son due to a one night stand. They have barely spoken in the 6 years since and thanks to Mason's innocent request that his dad stay with him at Hannah's so they can spend more time together, everything that went unspoken is brought to the surface.

What could have been a long winded, messy situation is turned into a fast paced, easy read to give you the warm and fuzzies for the holiday season. Plenty of tension, and teasing to keep you warm this winter.

Steamy hot story! Where else but in Kissing Springs, Kentucky, would you expect the town librarian and the fire Captain/part-time stripper to be the town’s latest love story?

Hannah Porter and Hunter Williams were childhood friends. Both actually had fallen in love with the other but didn't want to ruin the friendship, so said nothing.

Then one night 6 years ago, a drunken Hunter hooked up with Hannah's equally drunken cousin, Macy. Their son, Mason, was the result. Hannah was so upset over this happening that she told him to leave. And he did. But now he's back, bound and determined to clear the air...

I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Hannah and Hunter. They have a history, in the past they were best friends. That is until a night of jealousy and regret changed everything. Now 6 years later, Hannah is going to spend time with Hunter while entertaining her cousin's son, Mason. Who also happens to be Hunter's son. Now that they are talking again they realize what they gave been missing, each other. Great HEA in the works once they forgive each other and themselves for the past.

Just what Mrs. Claus would order

First off, it is rare that I read the teaser to a romance novel and can say with certainty that I haven’t read the story before. That was the first sign I should read SCORCHING SANTA.

I love unrequited love and second chances! Pepper that with hurt feelings, betrayal and some jealousy, there is a good romance in the making.

I liked everything about SCORCHING SANTA and read it from cover to cover. There are so many swoon worthy moments balanced with “what were you thinking?” moments.

This the the first book I have read by Ellen Brooks and I am tempting by her character development, to read more.

This says it is book 9 in the series, but since I don't think I have read any of the others, safe to say it can be read alone. I do want to go back and get the other stories though because this one was pretty good. Hannah and Hunter getting their second chance at forever was great, as well as watching Hannah's relationship grow with Mason. He was a weird child a bit, though, because he would be a sweet kid and then almost scary at the drop of a hat (turn of a page?). Hunter has a lot to make up to Hannah for and while it's unclear why it hasn't happened before, he's committed and when he's committed, he'll stop at nothing to win her back.

This is a well written second chance romance between Hannah and Hunter, The author brings strong characters and weaves a heartbreaking and emotional story filled with regrets, forgiveness and steam. Add in little Mason and a strong cast of secondary characters and she delivers a great holiday read. It's well written and moves fluidly with her perfectly painted scenes. I enjoyed reading their story.

I loved Scorching Santa: Book 9 of Welcome to Kissing Springs. Hannah and her best friend had issues 6 years ago that ended their friendship. Now her cousin needs her to babysit and his dads coming with him, so Hunter is her house guest for the week. Can they finally put the past behind them and maybe have a future. Is it time for the time has out the problems and move on? Such a sweet story. I was really pulling for this couple. I would definitely recommend this book and the whole series.

This slow burn story of best friends turned enemies takes a long road to bring Hannah and Hunter back to one another. I love their story even though it makes me sad and it makes me a little angry that they allow no communication and fear stand in their way. The writing is nicely done. The story is good. The small town is filled with characters that are fun and feisty.

Fantastic with a complicated twist that is both heart wrenching and devastating. Thought the characters were well developed, but felt Hunter was a bit too judgmental on his part. I’m glad everything came out finally at the end, just wished people would speak their minds. I enjoyed Hannah’s demeanor dealing wit all the heartbreak she had to endure, as she was gracious in her forgiveness and still willing to help out, even when it had to have been difficult helping out the ones who broke your heart.

Welcome to Kissing Spring is a great multi author collection... Book 9 Scorching Santa was as good as the first 8. When Hunter had a one night stand with Hannah's cousin and got her pregnant, it broke her heart and she asked him to go. They haven't spoken in six years. But when she asked by her cousin to watch their son, the two reconnect.
This full length novel has great character development and a wonderful story line... I enjoyed reading this book and am sad to see the series ending.

This is book nine in this series and told in first person POV by the main male and female characters. This book is full of second chances and mending hearts.

I love that both Hunter and Hannah were best friends for years and haven’t stopped thinking about each other since their fall out. I love that it took one special little boy to bring them together again and face what happened in their past. I love that they both are determined to make things right between them again.

I can’t wait for the next season of kissing springs books. I devoured this whole series in a week.

Hannah and Hunter were best friends. Both wanted more but neither wanted to ruin their friendship. Then Hunter betrayed everything and slept with her cousin. Six years on the hurt still festers. Hannah and Hunter are both still in love with each other. They are given a nudge to talk when Hannah looks after her cousin and Hunter’s son while her cousin is out of town. Very emotional story of hurt, betrayal, mistakes and misunderstandings. The HEA was lovely.

Christmas romance.
There was a time when Hannah and Hunter were best friends but that was before Hunter slept with Hannah's cousin and got her pregnant after that they never spoke to each other again. Six years later they are reunited to babysit Hunter's son for a week. Their feelings for each other resurface by dint of sharing the same daily life. Will they be able to admit feelings to each other that they couldn't admit six years ago and will they be able to forgive each other for their past mistakes...

Hannah (h) and Hunter's (H) long-standing friendship fell apart due to misunderstandings leading to years of separation. Hunter's return to Kissing Springs as the town’s 'stripper Santa' ignites old feelings and unresolved tensions. The two have to reconcile their past hurts and come to terms with their feelings for one another, all under the watchful eyes of the festive town. "Scorching Santa" is a tale of redemption, second chances, and the healing power of love set against the backdrop of holiday traditions and small-town charm.

Hannah and Hunter were best friends but he did the unforgivable, breaking her heart in the process so they haven’t spoken in six years. They’ve been put together by the small town busybodies and realise they can choose to have a second chance. Heartbreaking but with forgiveness, sweet and steamy, a well written, emotional story with a HEA.
