Diamonds Behind My Eyes

Rate this book
Nicola Pagett was acting in a Joe Orton play when manic depression took over and she had a breakdown. In this book she spares herself nothing in her determination to explain, openly and in a manner that mirrors her condition, what happened to her and how she was cured.

Book # 2 - DIAMONDS BEHIND BY EYES by Nicola Pagett & Graham Swannell - This is an essential read for anyone who knows someone with bipolar disorder/manic depression. This really reads as a true account of what it feels to fly too high and it is compelling, disturbing, upsetting and enlightening. It is an easy read in one way - I read this in a couple of days - but a hard read in other ways. 7.5 out of 10

As a fan of Upstairs/Downstairs, I had no problem imagining Nicola Pagett manic, and, believe me, she does mania well. I would have liked a little more clarity, but it is what it is. A view of what it's like to lose your mind and come back.
