Looking through my collection of graphic design books I realised they nearly all had one thing in common. They were brimming with information but reading them cover to cover was virtually impossible. Like many designers then, I have a shelf full of books I only really use for reference and inspiration when stuck. That in part is what inspired me to write this book. To give students an insight into what to expect from themselves, what is actually involved in being a graphic designer, and how to prepare yourself for the career you are embarking on.
