Rate this book
Connect the dots of triumph and trauma in your life to discover God’s presence by studying the story of Joseph in Genesis.

Life can often feel like a scattering of random events. The various choices, opportunities, or even pain we experience seem to have no real purpose or connection. But if we pay attention to God’s work, our lives tell a different story.

The story of Joseph in Genesis teaches us to look for the big picture in our lives. It shows us how God weaves together events that seem random into a beautiful image of joy, survival, purpose, and meaning. In The Big Seeing God’s Dream for Your Life , authors Jevon and Nicole Caldwell-Gross take a closer look at the life of Joseph to discover God’s presence in moments of triumph and trauma. Join them for this five-week study and see God’s dream for your life as you begin connecting the dots of God’s grace, presence, and protection.

Components for the five-week study include a book, comprehensive Leader Guide, DVD/Video sessions.

Read for a group study at church.

I am being benevolent in giving this book 2 stars. I was hopeful that the book would get better. The premise is great. The pastors writing it are probably good people. But there are Biblical interpretation errors (like how long was Joseph in the cistern, etc.) and contradictions in chapters. With the book being highly touted, I expected more. The editors could have clarified these before publication and didn’t.

I stopped reading the book mid-chapter 4. Donny Osmond and Andrew Lloyd Weber seemed to have more accuracy than this book.

The message on waiting for God’s timing vs our own is a truthful one, but when the road to get there is confusing, the message is lost.

I truly wish I could have enjoyed the book. Even the videos were disappointing - all the authors did was “tell” the book. No new information.

If they write another book, I hope they will be more diligent in their research.

This book was fabulous. I read it in a day on a personal retreat, which was perfect for me. Using the journal prompts, I worked through each chapter, which were incredible guides for my own spiritual journey of seeing how far I’ve come but also, giving me space to dream with God about the future. Jevon and Nicole use humor and stories that are easy to connect with, while also using Joseph’s story through scripture to bring that story to life. I look forward to using this book with my congregation in the future for them to do their own study of Joseph and God’s dreams for their lives.
