The Non-Hook Up

Rate this book
I’ve lived a life of privilege and expectation.
My plans were set out for me by my parents so I never really thought about my own life, until I was forced to make those decisions.
With my parents gone and my brother and I on our own, I’m forced to make the hard decisions and that’s how I ended up rooming with my best friend’s boyfriend's grumpy and troubled older brother, Riley.
I should be grateful for a roof over my head, but instead, I’m trying to hide my flirty glances at his cute behind, trying to muffle my moans late at night when I think of him sleeping so close, and I start to wonder if this situation is better than being homeless.
To make matters worse, I managed to get a job working in the bar downstairs with Riley. He is always there and getting more tempting each day and I just don’t know how long I can hold out and keep things friendly.
I’ve had countless hook-ups over the years but each day I spend with Riley, as he shows me that I can be strong and independent, as he constantly tests me, as he teaches me to fight for myself, he is proving that he is more than any hook-up.
But am I more to him?

I absolutely adore Mia. Life threw some punches at her and sure, she broke down at times and she struggled, yet she kept going. She also had a great support system in her found family throughout everything. Riley, oh Riley. I can’t help but love him. There is a lot more to him than what meets the eye and things haven’t always been easy for him.

The moment Riley and Mia meet there is a connection between the two of them. While there was tension at times, I loved seeing them go from enemies and build a friendship as they lived together and worked together. Until one little game of Truth or Dare pushed them both over the edge. Then they were full steam ahead in exploring their connection deeper. Plus, I loved how Riley was there for Mia through it all. He saw what others didn’t at times when it came to her and that only deepened their connection.

While this book can be read as a standalone I highly recommend reading Book one, Hooking Up with Mr Wrong first.

If you’re looking for a slow burn, roommates, enemies to friends to lovers, friends older brother romance this is one to check out.

If you enjoy slow burns, this is the book for you!

When Mia first meets Riley it is after another terrible date, but the date ends in a very unexpected way. After some terrible circumstances, Mia ends up in a bit of a pickle that she needs to find a way out of.

I loved watching Riley and Mia’s friendship build. Riley helped her and supported her when she needed it the most. He showed her what it is like to be accepted. Even as the friendship is building, you can feel the chemistry between them.

Even though Mia has feelings for Riley, she doesn’t act on it for awhile, even though her best friend Ava giving her advice “Mia, this is a guy. He’s not gonna connect the dots until you sit on his face.”

During a spicy game of truth or dare things heat up A LOT! Some truths get revealed- “If I let myself take you, that will be it. I’ve never met anyone like you, Mia. I see you and you see me, but if I allow myself to fall into this, I know there will be no going back. If I have you, I’ll never want to stop, and I’ll never have enough. You will be it for me, Mia.”

Read this book and get to know Mia and Riley’a story!
