I enjoyed the book very much, the FMC is 18 and it's not a clean book, so I would say it is na. I would wait till the next book in the series is out because it's a duet. And I have to come back and write a better review, but at the moment I'm busy with other stuff.

For sure I would recommend it to my friends and other fellow readers, who like ya, a broken FMC and broken MMCs, the harem is not formed officially in this book. The author is trying to sell a mystery but it was quite obvious for me. Side characters are good and there is some girl girl drama there. But in the first book the drama is more about the talents than the guys. I think this will change in the next book. No cheating.

I freaking love this book!!

"Ash and I… we’re the same. Perfectly broken."

I absolutely loved this book. Devoured it in just a few hours. I couldn't put it down. A rockstar romance with a splash of mystery and secrets. It was well written and captivated me from the very beginning. I can't contain my excitement for the next book.

Disharmony is a darker, why choose, rockstar romance with a twist and I was here for the unique plot! It hooked me to the point that I was taking my kindle everywhere so I didn’t have to stop reading.

It definitely gave me dark camp rock vibes and the loud gasp I let out at the end was embarrassing 😂 can’t wait for book 2! I need it asap

This is one of those so-cheesy-yet-strangely-addictive books that mess with me, as I really should not like it with the amount of eye rolling I'm doing mentally, yet read the first 65% in one go...so the author is doing something right!

To be honest, I didn't like the Camp Harmony stuff, or the bitchy girls and all of that tropey stuff that comes from books with 18 Yr old type characters. But the Basilisks and that whole thing kept me reading.

I am going to try the next book, but with the way the last one ended, it feels like it's just going to be a repeat of the first book, with pages and pages of Ash being the only 'goth' and how noone understands her etc etc which got old really fast, but we will see!

If you love high school age RH with metal, rather than the usual 4ock star twist, then give this a try!

I rarely write reviews, but when I do it you know why? Because I’m pissed. You know what i also do when I’m pissed? I rant. You’ve been warned.

When I go grocery shopping and buy milk I expect to get home, open it and find milk inside. So can someone explain to me why the fuck are authors not putting mm tags? At this point I just stop reading to be petty, I was actually enjoying it but I don’t like being lied to or led astray.

When I want mm, you know what I do? I search for books that have mm. I do the same for dark, mf, or rh. I like my rh to be with a woman as the milkshake that brings all the boys to the yard, so you know what I do? This may seems as a shocker but i search for books that don’t have a mm tag 🤯

But here where it keeps going wrong: AUTHORS KEEP LYING ABOUT WHAT THE FUCK THEY’RE SELLING. I’m not even going to talk about their “strong FMC’s that take no BS” and proceed to take BS like it’s their kink. I’m talking to you Madison Kate. But I draw the line at mm. Especially when you start a series expecting to be the main bitch (BECAUSE NO ONE SAID IT HAD MM) and surprise surprise ⚔️

So can we all agree that if you buy milk you get milk? And if you put MM or FF you tag it accordingly? Thank you and I hope you step on a Lego, stab your toe on furniture and get your sleeves stuck on a knob 🤗

Rockstars who are masked men...They also F*ck you in them.

Yes, you heard that right, it is a why choose romance. A girl named Ash applied to this Camp and produced famous stars, but she got rejected 3 times. However, her video got viral. Yeah, she didn't upload it. Then she got accepted. Funny right?

So yes, it's like camp rock, but not really. Cause she has to choose between producing music, she really likes, which is more metal and rock, but they produce more mainstream. Plus, she gets to meet her masked men idols. Lots of shit happens here. The first part half of the book is more of her journey, and it is a slow burn. I quite enjoy it and oh it does get spicy towards the later part like holy shit!

I devoured this book in one sitting, i do love a rock star read but this was so different to any i have read before. I haven't read any books from this author but WOW i absolutely loved this different take on a rock star story.

Ashley was a metal singer who loved the band The Basilisks so much and had been following them for six years. She wanted to get into the prestigious music camp "Camp Harmony" but she got refused for the last three years as they didn't want the real Ash. Unbeknown to Ash her best friend put a tape of her singing at her mums funeral onto the web and was a instant hit. After the camp saw this on the internet she was offered a place at Camp Harmony, it's a dream come true for her.

This had so many twists that you don't see coming as nothing is as it seems at this prestigious club and Ash soon becomes a outsider bar a few select friends that she has met. Loved how strong a character Ash is and takes no crap from them that want to put her down.

This book is filled with angst, drama, with plenty of surprises you don't see coming that you need to read this book trust me i can't recommend it enough, now i need the next book as can't wait to see how this all unfolds.

Being new to Ms.Bloom's work i've been looking so forward to picking up her books! As soon as i found out about this book by chance i knew i had to read it first. I picked it up and got right into the Ash and The Basilisks world! I so enjoyed this first book!

This first installment in Ash's journey got my attention! She chases after her dreams which land her at Camp Harmony and then she meets The Basilisks, her world will never be the same. I couldn't wait to see how things would play out in this first book.

Going into this story, i didn't have a clue what all to expect and that got me into it even more! I really liked how this story was different and the way it kept me on my toes. I definitely related to Ash! I so enjoyed what Zed, Ripper, and Venom brought to the story and especially the chemistry between them and Ash!

With Disharmony, Ms.Bloom has created such a good read that pulled me in! I can't wait to find out what happens next in the second installment, Rhapsody!

I was really, pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed this, it was such a different take on a rockstar romance it felt like such a unique idea with the whole camp vibes. As a metal girl myself it was nice to read a story where I could feel seen and I LOVED the part where Ash went away with the Basilisks for the night. I loved finding out about them and just experiencing the whole masked effect 🥵 I adore Venom and I feel there’s so much more to him we haven’t seen. I’m hoping there’s going to be a book 2 cause I can’t be left with that ending girl 🫣

Also - Cookie is an amazing character, I loved her and her energy.

ARC review!

Oh my… This book was FANTASTIC!!! Holly Bloom did an amazing job writing this!

Ash is such a strong and fierce character that I immediately liked. She’s struggling with trying to figure out who she really wants to be, and if she really wants to change herself to achieve want she wants. Ash has always dreamed of wanting to go to Camp Harmony, but when she finally gets accepted there, she starts to see it’s not what she thought it was going to be. Disharmony is filled with drama, surprises, angst, and so much more! I seriously cannot wait for book 2!! Especially after that ending…. I won’t say more because NO SPOILERS. Seriously though, go and read Disharmony!

This is definitely a five star read for me!

“Ash and I… we’re the same. Perfectly broken.” - Ripper

This book was such a guilty pleasure for me. Whenever I need a pick me up it’s usually a rockstar romance. The book was well written with a dash of mystery and secrets and lots of great chemistry between the FMC, Ash, and her harem. If you’re looking for a solid easy read, this is the book!

Disharmony is a why choose rockstar romance. The FMC, Ash, gets accepted into the prestigious camp Harmony after a video goes viral of her singing a cover of Cyndi Lauper, Time After Time, at her mother’s funeral. It’s been her lifelong dream to attend. But camp isn’t everything she thought it would be. It’s cutthroat and full of drama. Tiffany, the queen bee of the camp, is hellbent on destroying Ash. Camp pranks, sabotage, twists and betrayal are all common place.

Ash is the effortless cool girl. She loves heavy metal, prefers black, is talented, raw, loyal and beautiful. She stands out without trying. But she also has her demons. Her mother’s death has left deep scares both visible and invisible. She’s struggling with not only deep loss but also who she wants to be as a musician. Ultimately she wants to sing and write metal songs, but camp Harmony wants her to conform to the perfect pop princess.

After a particularly hard week at camp Ash’s roommate, Cookie, helps Ash see her first live Basilisks concert. The Basilisks (Ripper, Zed, Venom) are a heavy metal band that always perform in weird costumes, prosthetics and face paint. No one knows who they are. Ash has been a fan since they first came on the scene six years ago. She says they saved her and believes their songs were written for her. She meets Ripper in the ally after the show and they exchange numbers.

As Ash gets to know Ripper and the rest of the Basilisks, deep feelings develop. They start working on music together and she sings with them on stage at a private party. Afterwards, they all spend a passion filled night together. Throughout their night together the band keeps their masks on, which Ash says she’s ok with because she already knows them. However when their identity is revealed at the end of the book, Ash is left feeling hurt and betrayed. Will she forgive their deception? I’ve already started the next book to find out!

Have you read Disharmony? If so, who’s your favorite Basilisk? I’d pick Ripper. I can’t help but love the jealous bad boys.

I really liked this book and I really can't wait to read next one. I was kind of waiting that moment so I was ok with that cliffy. I liked Ash and how she just wanted to do her own thing but she couldn't if she wanted to be in Camp Harmony. I'm glad that she got friends from there and who helped her. The Basilisks were interesting characters and I liked them too.

Disharmony is a slow burn rock star romance. The main female character Ash is down to earth, feisty aspiring singer who embarks on a journey of self discovery. However, the road to success and finding herself is anyting but smooth, and on the way she learns some harsh truths.
If you love reading stories with teenage angst, hot rock stars, drama, twists and turns then this is a book for you. Highly recommended 🤗

Obviously by all the rave reviews this duet has, my opinion is in the minority when I say I didn't overly enjoy this book. It was very well written, and had a good plot, but I found the fmc unlikable and therefore made it hard for me to enjoy. Also, I really wish authors made note of MM in their rh novels. I have nothing against mm and enjoy it on occasion, but I'd like to know in advance if it was just included so I could choose to read it when I was in the mood for it!
The story itself was actually really good and I will be continuing on to the second book, I just wish I liked Ash better. She is constantly saying that pop music is soulless, and it represents everything she hates but yet she has been watching the camp harmony show and wishing she was part of it for years even though its pop music that they feature!! She hates that her heavy metal look and preference are looked down on, but she does the same to people who prefer mainstream music. You know why mainstream music is popular? Its because most people like it!!! Yeah, we have the crappy sabrina carpenters of the world (no offense to those who love her, you do you), but we also have others who have amazing talent and sing what they love. Very hypocritical if you ask me. And also, i cant get behind a character that gets upset she has to take her septum piercing out for camp because it supposedly looks bad, FYI it probably does.
The men are just as bad. They claim they hate having to be part of that world, yet they still reap the benefits. Money, fame and the ability to do what they actually love on the side. Ugh, just so much complaining!!
All that being said the writing and story were pretty good and will try more of Holly's books in the future. Maybe one of her other books might resonate with me more.

I was really surprised at just how much I loved the book. It is my first rockstar romance so I can't compare it to any others yet (maybe when I do a re-read).

I loved the whole camp vibes, I felt like it was a unique idea. The only other book I've read with camp vibe was a YA one so to see it in a why choose novel was really good. As someone who enjoys the same kind of music as Ash it felt so nice to be seen as not many books contain that kind of music/vibes unless it is a dark romance.

Ash herself is an amazing, strong woman who I can sympathise with because even at 22 I still struggle with figuring out who I want to be. Her music is her expression and when she gets rejected from the camp at first, she feel like her whole life is over. That is until her best friend releases a video of her singing something totally unlike what she put to the camp, they get back in touch and she is accepted. However, they want her to be some kind of pop princess but is she willing to sell herself out or not.

Enter The Basilisks, Venom, Zed and Ripper, a highly private heavy metal band that are Ash's idols. They give Ash the opportunity to be true to herself. It seems to me that Ripper and Venom are more honest with their feelings and don't want Ash to go away, Zed however is a little more complicated than that.

Overall this book was a lovely 5 star read for me when I got into it. It is a little bit of a slow burn but boy is it worth it. As always I am hoping for book 2 to be released soon because I need to read it. The ending was ... well I don't want to spoil it. All I have to say is I want more asap!!

WOW! This story was phenomenal! I was instantly sucked into Ash’s world, and I never wanted to leave. It was creative and unique keeping me gripping my kindle tightly, biting my nails with anticipation, and turning the pages quickly to see how it was all going to turn out in the end. The story was an emotional rollercoaster ride of epic proportions that pulled on my heartstrings the whole way through.

I instantly fell in love with Ash. She is a phenomenal character with so much depth, spunk, massive lady balls and a fierceness like no other. She chases after her dreams and will do anything to make herself the star that she knows she is.

The Basilisk men have an incredible connection with Ash that grows stronger the more they know and start to understand each other. And the sexual chemistry between them was so thick you could cut it with a knife. You knew that the four of them were going to be explosive once they gave into the desire and attraction that was pulling them together. The slow burn romance between Ash and the Basilisk men was perfect and kept me on the edge of my seat waiting for when it was going to erupt.

This story was brilliantly written with such poetic and poignant words that make the story come to life on the pages. It is so creative with well fleshed out characters and with a plot that is suspenseful, drama and angst filled, emotional, secretive and so damn sexy! I can’t wait to see how the story progresses with the next book after the way this one ended.

This is the first story I have read by this amazing author, and I am so blown away by how phenomenal it was. I absolutely loved it. Holly has gotten herself a new follower for life.

For as long as she can remember, Ash’s wanted to attend Camp Harmony, a prestigious summer camp that can kickstart your musical career. When she finally gets in, she’s ecstatic, only to discover that they don’t want Ash, the girl who loves heavy metal. They want Ashley, the pretty, peppy pop star they saw in a video that went viral.

Ash is determined to make it at Camp Harmony, even with these unexpected challenges. And for a while, it works. Everything seems to be falling into place, especially when she meets the Basilisks, her favorite band of all time, in person. The Basilisks hide behind their masks, which is something that Ash can relate to. But when things start stirring at Camp Harmony, no one will make it out unscathed.

Okay, so this isn’t my usual type of book, but when I read the blurb, I knew I had to read it. I’m so, so glad I did! Holly Bloom is an extremely talented writer; I fell into this world from the very first page, and I wasn’t ready for it to end. I loved learning about the dynamics at Camp Harmony, and reading the struggles of the campers (not just Ash) as they tried to find their place in the hierarchy.

For me, Ash was a relatable character because I can understand being the underdog, the girl who doesn’t quite fit in, the girl who is bullied and mocked for being different. What I loved about Ash is that she doesn’t let anyone put her down. She’s bold, and I really respect that. As for the characters of the Basilisks, I was definitely intrigued by them. I love the idea of hiding behind a mask, and I thought the whole concept of the band doing that was brilliant and unique. I’m really excited to see what happens next in this world!

Holly has done it again! Disharmony, the first book in the Ash and The Basilisks series, was an intriguingly unique rock star RH romance that I couldn’t put down! Edgy, steamy, heartbreaking, sexy secret identities and music—this one has it all!

Our FMC Ash has grown up in a small town and just wants to escape into the world of music and make her mothers dream come true and feels like the only way she can do that is to join an exclusive summer musical program—One that has refused her time and time again. But that all changes when her bff Brick sends in video of a raw performance at her mothers funeral and instantly she becomes a viral sensation they can’t refuse.

Once at camp though Ash soon discovers everything is not what it seems and that to get the place that she has always wanted may come at a price she’s unwilling to pay…her dignity and her soul. Feeling like she’s loosing a piece of herself, a chance meeting with the band she has always loved, the Basilisks, changes everything when the three sexy masked rockers Zed, Ripper and Venom reignite a fire within her soul. One that reminds her just who she really is…the question is, can she still survive this camp and make a name for her true self or is it too late?

I absolutely loved the character development in this book, and how it all came to an end at the showcase. All the twist and turns, suspenseful drama and secrets and revelations were amazing to see come together and I absolutely loved the side characters as well!!! I can’t wait for the second book and hope we get to see more of Cookie, Lelia and the twins soon! And I can’t hope to see a certain someone get just what she deserves!!!

So about 36% into the book I wanted to scream. I figured out what the big plottwist was and when I tell u I was internally screaming(I was at work) and shocked. I expected a lot of this to happen on this book but THAT was not one of them. What I found a little different and loved was how the author didn't say this is this and that is that. What they did was give us little clues throughout the book to help u figure out what the secret is. The story and the characters were well written.

Ash is probably one of my favorite fmc I've read. I love how she knows exactly who she is and what she wants and is unapologetic about it. She's honestly someone ANYONE could look up to.

This is a reverse harem that does end in a cliffhanger 😢 now about the characters, i really liked all of them especially cookie who is Ashley's(mfc) roommate. Her energy throughout the book was amazing and I liked how even though they were totally different in the way they dress, their personalities, music take etc. They were still able to make a pretty good connection and become good friends. Ashley's chemistry with the 3 guys was AMAZING. The author managed to write a different connection with them all and it didn't just focus on the physical.

I was confused at one point how they were able to kiss with masks on?! I'm pretty sure I'm picturing the wrong mask but I couldn't get my head around how it would work

I am absolutely in love with Ash and the Basilisks!

Ash is a small-town girl with big dreams. She wants to leave the small-town life behind and become a singer. But after being rejected from Camp Harmony for the last year of eligibility, things seem bleak for her. But when her best friend, Brick, uploads a video of her singing at her mom's funeral, her life gets turned upside down.

Ash isn't like the other popstar wannabes at Camp Harmony. She likes heavy metal, piercings, and dark clothes. She doesn't fit the mold, and that's a problem. She makes friends though, and they don't care that her tastes make her different from everyone else. When Ash gets the opportunity of a lifetime to see her favorite metal band live, she finally feels she can be herself again. The Basilisks, Zed, Ripper, and Venom, have kept their identity a secret. They wear masks and throw their voices so no one will know who they really are. But meeting Ash changes everything. Secrets don't stay hidden for long.

This was the first book I've read from Holly, and I was not disappointed. I loved the characters and the story. Make sure to read the trigger warnings before reading though, because some dark themes may not be suitable for all readers. I cannon wait for book 2, especially after that ending! I'm looking forward to more backstory on the Basilisks too!

I LOVED this and rhapsody. It wasn’t too much of a slow burn that it was painful, but it was slow enough that it kept the excitement and made you want to see what happened next. The way the book grips you in is something so special, i genuinely couldn’t put it down!

All the characters are so likeable, (especially cookie) and I loved how refreshing Ash was compared to other book MCs, she was loveable to her friends, considered their feelings, but also knew when to put her foot down. Her love of plant based food and metal sung (quite literally to me) as a fellow vegan and also a lover of heavy metal. She just felt so raw, and her relationship with her dad was so real, it highlighted the issues i’m sure an abundance of children without mothers feel with their father but also maintained a respectful light, and showed that he genuinely did care about her even if he struggled to display it.

oooooh my goodness. Venom, Ripper and Zed absolutely LIT me on fire. These boys are so sexy and ragged. I mean… hot super stars at day, bad boy metal heads at night? yes PLEASE! oh, and they wear masks, now if that’s not enough to make you want to pick up this book, i don’t know what will.

This got me out of my reading slump and has definitely been one of my best reads for a while. It’s going to take a lot to top this

I swear I was liking this book, I swear, but it just gets to a point where Ash becomes unbearable. She's so "unique and different" and so immature in her actions that I don't understand why 24 year old guys would be interested in her (unless they want to manipulate her because Ash is so impressionable). I think they (Ripper, especially) take advantage of the fact that she really loves her band to lure her into a false sense of security.

And Ash like every other pubescent teenage girl is fooled and cajoled by them just because they are her favorite band. A reverse harem book with age difference only works if the protagonist is mature enough to be able to keep up with her love interest, which didn't happen here. Ash is like a 15 year old teenager who still hasn't outgrown her emo and goth stage and thinks she's different from everyone else because of it. Besides she has 0 common sense, she threw a tantrum for wanting to get into the camp, but when she has the chance to get ahead she ARRESTS EVERYTHING TO GO WITH A ROCK BAND WHO SHE ONLY KNOWS FOR THEIR SONGS! Cookie has more sense than this girl. I'm actually surprised that this is a book written by the same author who did Killer Candy. Her main character was much better than Ash and didn't act like a 12 year old brat all the time.

Anyway, I could get halfway through the book and that's as far as it ends.

Amazing simply amazing!!!

Ash our fmc is a small town girl she's faced loss and after going viral an incredible opportunity comes her way.

Camp Harmony is her big break it could help launch her career. After being there though the cracks start to show. It's not all its hyped up to be. Secrets and danger loom over the camp. Ash is a threat to an established pecking order. Some will go to extreme lengths to see her fail.

The Basiliks: Zed. Ripper. Venom.
A mysterious highly private metal band. Their identities are a mystery. Their music not the taste of the masses. Ash gets to meet her idols and they live up to her expectations. She's had a crush on them but never dreamed they'd ever feel the same. After a chance meeting a mutual fascination grows into something more.

Overall this book was an unexpected surprise. Once the story gets your attention it's hard to stop reading. It's a bit of a slow burn in terms of romance but man once you get to its so 🥵. I can't wait to see where their story goes!

Seriously Holly Bloom nailed this story! I want the next book to have a reckoning for a lot of malicious people. I want to read about Ash's success and the fall of those seeking to tear her down. I want more! I NEED more!!

Review: Disharmony. (Ash and The Basilisks Book 1)
By: Holly Bloom.
Stars: 4\5.
ARC Copy.

This was my first book that I've read by Holly Bloom, and I can't say that I was disappointed. Holly killed it! Disharmony is the first book in the Ash and The Basilisks series and its set to be a duet.

Ash has always lived and breathed music. Growing up in a small town where everyone knows everyone, and having only her parents and one best friend, music has become her passion. So for a big music fan who would love to one day be a musician herself, Camp Harmony sounds like a dream come true. Its the worlds most prestigious summer music camp where it can make or break you...

This story gave me Camp Rock vibes but take out Disney and make it a grown up one! I really enjoyed this book! It was a nice change for me. And the characters? Loved them! Cookie was probably one of the best side characters ever!

The reason I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars was because Disharmony is a long book. And sometimes the chapters just dragged on. But it was also a really good book, and I would highly recommend it!.

This is my first book by Holly Bloom and I have to say that I absolutely loved it! This is not your typical Rockstar romance. I was interested in the plot and what was going to happen, but once I got 25% in, I couldn't put the book down until I finished it! I am still reeling about the ending and need the next book to see what's going to happen.

I loved Ash. She has been through so much and uses music to heal and express herself. You would think she would be in heaven at a camp focused on music, but that can't happen when she has to hide the musician she really is. The Basilisks give Ash an opportunity to be who she really is. I love Ripper and Venom. They are more honest with their feelings and don't want to let Ash get away. I am still a little on the fence about Zed. I get that he is complicated and is trying to do what is best for everyone, but he is a bit too stubborn at times which frustrated me.

I started to predict some of the twists earlier in the book, but knowing some of what was going to happen did not spoil the book at all for me. I still couldn't put it down! I cannot wait for the next book to see how Ash is going to handle everything that was thrown at her at the finale!

This is such a smooth read. I would start reading, telling myself I had only a certain amount of time, and would look over and it be hours later. It is so good I would just lose myself in the book. That ending though, chef’s kiss. I screamed with excitement at how it went down. I have to have the second book. I’m obsessed.
There is drama, grit and angst, secrets and corruption, hidden identities, fame, fandom and obsession. Its a rock star, dark reverse harem is there anything else i need to say. Ha Ha. The smut in this book is to die for. So hot and steamy. Yum Yum.
Other than the smutty scenes 😋, my favorite was the overall message to keep pushing through when life throws the absolute worst things possible at you. Keep your head up and don’t let anyone or anything to knock you down.
“A crown of rose, The thorns of sin, Blood falling down your neck, but tell me… Are you blooming?”
So when is the second book coming out again because I need it like now 🤗🤣. Run to get this book, it’s so so good. Everyone and their mamma should read this.
