‘Through darkened corridors, she crept. Through candle-lit stairways, she hovered. The howl of the wind swept through the old building as the floor boards creaked beneath her footsteps.’
A working holiday to rural Cornwall promises to be incredibly boring for Maggie West…that is until she hears the history of the hotel she is staying in, and her adventure begins. The hotel ‘Graystone’ is steeped in mystery. Originally built in the 1800’s, it’s Cornish dressed stone loomed in a dark grey over the bay inciting stories and long-told legends about its heritage. Maggie is shocked to hear tall-tales rampant describing ghosts and mysteries…all of which she finds ridiculous-until she encounters a ghost in one of the corridors. Alone one night, Maggie is heading back to her room when a woman appears before her. After muttering, ‘Excuse me,’ Maggie is stopped by the startled lady. Claiming she is ‘but a ghost,’ Maggie runs off, sure she is losing her mind. Running blind, she smacks straight into another woman-a very real, living woman. She introduces herself as Gray Summers, and an immediate connection begins for the two women. As they bond over their similarities and a physical chemistry ignites, Maggie is once again visited by the apparition she saw on her first day there. Desperate for something, Maggie must figure out how to help the woman in grey; whilst realising how to help the woman she now loves. Can Maggie solve the mystery of Graystone Manor? Find out in…Graystone
AJ Estelliam loves sunsets, sandy toes and hot baths. She relaxes by writing and being able to lose herself in a fantasy world where anything is possible. Her inspiration comes from gorgeous pictures, photos and places she visits. Alex Hope was inspired initially by a photograph...and then her story began. AJ is currently working on more Alex Hope novels. 'I love the relationship I have written between Alex and Jess. It's an all-consuming love and they're friends, lovers and soul mates. It's the kind of love everyone is looking for really-aside from the psychic ability and murders though!'
Massive fan of this author. Loved everything she's wrote so far.. especially the Alex Hope novels!.
This was an interesting story, kept me gripped, characters work well together and both have chemistry, even tho their relationship happened at the speed of light! Only issue i have... way too short!
If you've enjoyed A.J Etelliams previous work, I suggest you give this one a whirl too.
Mystery and Paranormal, plus instant love connection and family secrets abound in a less than 2 hour story. Kindle Unlimited.
Overall I did enjoy the story and connection between Gray and Maggie. It's definitely one of those 'love at first sight' deals. However the women do take some time to get to know each other. Although all does still happen rather quickly. Maggie and Gray were both real and vulnerable with each other, choosing to lead with honesty and their hearts open and on their sleeve, hoping for something more. So I couldn't help but enjoy that. But I can appreciate how that might not appeal to others.
There's a few mystery elements that go on throughout, and a paranormal aspect, too. Lots of family secrets surround the Graystone Manor. It's fast paced and quickly resolved. Definitely just a good easy read for inbetween, when you just want something light.
There's plenty of erotic moments between the ladies. I DID have to guffaw at the fact that a strap-on is grabbed by the second sex scene, despite both ladies having said they were living a rather celibate life. So the fact that one had packed a strap-on, oh so conveniently, was a bit too much for me to get behind... and speaking of getting behind by the third sex scene we were into anal stuff, without even really discussing it, and I was just a bit like, REALLY?
So yeah, there's some issues here, which is why only 3/5. But at the same time I found it entertaining enough, and readable.
I liked this because it was short and sweet and passionate, but it also, at times, felt clipped and although it was short, the ending was not clipped nor too abrupt of an ending that I couldn't hate it. It had nice romance, but also a nice amount of mystery built up enough to pull me in to the mystery surrounding Graystone.
