For ex-SAS and current MI5 officer Dave Lomu, Fiji was his childhood home. Leaving under a cloud and not looking back for twenty years means there is little left for him in paradise. But when his family call for help, he returns to a world of ruthless developers, police and government corruption and the murder of a boy and the disappearance of the half-sister he never knew he had. Lomu has a particular set of skills, and is determined to get answers.

This is my first ‘Big Dave’ adventure, and while the writing probably deserves only 3 stars, I had to give it 4 for the love of the Pacific Islands and Islander way of life. The plot is interesting and so are the characters - the heavy-handed descriptors of the ‘6’4, 18 stone hero are a lot of padding and some repetition of Dave’s background and history is not only unwarranted it’s also unnecessary. Clearly written by an older man in his treatment and insertion of the attractive woman Jenny but at least he didn’t downgrade to soft porn!
Another book that keeps you wanting to read more. A P has brought out another character that could progress to more. Maybe we will meet Davinder again.
