Belle

The Sister Witches of Story Cove #2

by Nyx Halliwell

Books, magick, and a beastly mystery will create havoc in Belle’s enchanted world! A fairytale retelling of Beauty & the Beast!

Books talk to me. Literally. It’s the best kind of magick I know.

If only book aficionado Leo Kingsley would open up to me, too.

I tell myself I only want to know him because his famous library calls to me. My witchy power yearns to discover what his shelves have to tell me.

But the truth is, I find him just as fascinating. What will he tell me, if and when I get him to trust me?

Things get interesting when I discover a "normal" book. As in mute. As in not speaking to me.

Searching for clues as to why, I approach Leo, unknowingly setting off a chain of events that lead to a beast of a secret and causes wild animals to suddenly attack our town.

Can I uncover the mystery of who is controlling them and why? Will Leo trust me with his hairy conundrum? Or will bringing the book’s truth to light cost me Leo and my heart?

I read this book when it was titled Beastly Book of Spells by Nyx Halliwell. This is the second book in the Once Upon a Witch series and brings the "magic" of Beauty and the Beast to contemporary times.
Belle who works with her sisters at Enchanted as well as the bookstore next door is thrust into a mystery of a stolen book of dark magic incantations, wild beasts and a millionaire recluse. A lovely story that pulled me in to enjoy family, romance and book magic to solve a mystery.

The author provided me with a copy of this book to review. This did not influence my thoughts and opinions in any way. All opinions expressed are my own.

Books literally talk to Belle, and she enjoys her magic. But she soon finds a book that is silent and goes to Leo for help. Leo fascinates Belle as much as his massive book collection does. When things soon turn deadly with animals who are possessed attacking people, Belle and Leo must work together to stop the person behind the dark magic. But they must also learn to trust each other with their secrets. Can they stop things before more people die?

I've really enjoyed this series and this book is no exception. This retelling of Beauty and the Beast drew me in and kept me hooked from beginning to end. It was an enchanting tale that was well-written with well-rounded characters. Beauty and the Beast has always been a favorite fairy tale and I loved this version. After all, what reader wouldn't want books to talk to them?!? The romance was sweet, and the mystery was intriguing. I'm looking forward to the next book and highly recommend both book and series.

Belle, Sister Witches of Sory Cove Spellbinding Cozy Mystery Series #2 is a wonderful contemporary retelling of the fairy tale Beauty and the Beast! Belle Sheridan is irresistibly drawn to the shaggy and dour millionaire, Leo who seems equally taken with the lovely white witch. Together they seek out the person who has stolen the Beastly Book of Spells and is using the knowledge inside to control wild animals for some nefarious purpose. Nyx Haliwell scores again!

Magical in both senses of the word.

I first read the book under the original title, Beastly Book of Spells.

If you loved fairy tales as a child, you are going to love these grown-up fairy tales, too! Nxy Halliwell brings our old favorite stories to life by using the same familiar characters and stories that we loved as a child but with unique character changes, murder, twists, turns, fast-paced action, and of course romance. What an interesting and fun read. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down until I finished the last page. I highly recommend this book.

I haven't read the first book, but I did enjoy this second one in the series. Beauty and the Beast is my favorite. Of course, I had to read this when it was available for free. I enjoyed Belle and the supporting characters. I didn't feel the connection between her and Leo due to the story being short, but I can appreciate it.

cozy

This was a nice cozy, quick read, mystery. There's no spice scenes to be had in this book though. The mystery portion did flow wonderfully, and had a few twists.
