Rate this book
A treasury of memories and insider stories from the longtime voice of the Padres!

Since they burst onto the scene in 1968, the San Diego Padres have taken fans on a roller coaster ride of ups, downs, and unforgettable moments. In Tales from the San Diego Padres Dugout, Bob Chandler--who spent over thirty years as a Padres announcer and also worked in public relations for the team--shares his memories of the players, the games, and the behind-the-scenes happenings with Bill Swank in a dramatic and rollicking recap of the team's colorful past. With tales from the pennant seasons of 1984 and 1998 and recollections of such figures as Ozzie Smith and Tony Gwynn, it's a great read for passionate Padres fans.

Formulaic with a few interesting anecdotes. The audiobook edition is filled with numerous, glaring mis-pronunciations. This style of book is better if the subject is not a favourite team where the fan already has plenty of knowledge.

A good book to read if you’re a Padres fan or interested in the team.
