I have very mixed feelings about this anthology. There were some really beautiful, enjoyable pieces… but most of the pieces I felt very “meh” about, or, in some cases, I completely disagreed with their moral conclusions and felt unsettled after reading them. There is something to be said about people having their own preferences and opinions, but there was one piece where a character essentially gets possessed and says they are the devil. I can tell you which one of that’s something you don’t care for. It completely went against my religious beliefs and left me feeling icky.
But. Like I said, there were some awesome pieces in there, some of which even made me cry. My favorite stories were “Death Cap” (Dannie Kinard), “Mirror, Mother, Monster” (Autumn Krause), “This Mortal Coil” (Teagan Olivia Sturmer), “The Assassin’s Kiss” (Moriah Chavis), “The Mad Hatter’s Mad Wife” (A. R. Frederiksen), “A Lady’s Bone Song” (Kayla Whittle), and “The Sweetness We Can’t Live Without” (M. Stevenson).
My favorite poems were “A Mind That Fades” (Briana Urban) and “Wolf Girl” (Anna Elzinga). And, of course, I’m pretty partial to “Sweet Venom” since I wrote it. ;)
I can’t wait to try the cocktails and mocktails based on this book!

A biased review because I'm one of the contributors to this anthology, but there is so much to explore within these pages! So many new writers to enjoy and with this variety of short stories and poems, everyone will find something here to love.

Some stories were outstanding, others so bad I skipped them. Interesting thrift find.

What a unique gothic style of science and magic. This writer has amazing talent! I’m going to follow her on Twitter and hope she creates more. 🖤
