Art is supposed to transport you, but in The Fine Art of Deception series, some paintings can lead to a totally different place and time…
I thought my life of intrigue was over, my happy-ever-after taking shape. I’ve been reunited with my soulmate Blake, and the man behind an art forgery ring has been arrested. All that’s left is for us to testify against Otto—and find my missing father and grandfather. They’re still alive after twenty years, I can feel it.
When Otto is released on a technicality, everyone I love is in danger again. He’s hunted me through past lives, using his power and wiles to get whatever he desires. I see through his game now, but he knows my weakness.
Otto promises to return my family if I help him find the paintings stolen from the Gardner Museum, one of the biggest art thefts in American history. I don’t trust him to keep his end of the deal, but I don’t have another choice. He’s my best lead to track down where dad and grandpa are—and more importantly, when they are.

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews
Genre: Romance, Mystery & Thrillers
Well, book one was a real treat and I’ve been looking forward to book two – now having read it I want book three ASAP!!
This is an amazing series, with a mix of romance and risk, happiness and heart break, adventure and agonies....Alyssa has taken the Psychometry angle and extended it to make it her own and give us an incredible story spanning generations, encompassing past and present loves, art thefts of priceless works, and all wrapped up with the ever present danger contact with Otto brings. Yet he’s so wrapped up in the lives and families of both Blake and Addie that its seems impossible to get away from him. The more he learns about Addie’s gifts the more determined he is to use them for his own criminal purposes.
Addie wants nothing to do with him, but as she’s already learned he doesn’t take no for an answer and he seems to have contacts in the highest of places. He’s slippery like a snake and slithers through all the nets cast for him so far, escaping always by his contacts influences, which seem to pervade even the highest of official places. It really looks like the Law can’t help, however much factions of it want to. Once more she and Blake are plunged into danger, into running for their lives, trying to keep two steps ahead of Otto. He’s determined to get Addie for himslef and he’s got some unpleasant surprises in store for them in this book though, which could part Blake and Addie forever.
Its a book full of mysteries, where each time one is opened out, more than we could have imagined is revealed. Addie is so shocked and upset at some of the secrets her family have been holding for a very long time. It leads on to a story arc that looks set to play a large part in the next book, and was a fascinating read. Its quite easy for me to lose myself in a novel, however fantastic and unreal if the story is good and the writer makes everything feel plausible. Alyssa does just that, and I had no trouble in believing the new information that Blake and Addie discover their families have been keeping secret. Its a journey to the unknown though, and at great risk. Still, there are things they feel they have to do, and one way or another Otto just has to be stopped or his hold on the family will never be broken.
Stars: Five a fantastic story I found myself lost in for hours yesterday

If you enjoyed my review I'd love it if you would please click “Like” and if you didn't I'd love to know why, so I can make future reviews more helpful.
After reading 'The Fine Art of Deception: Undoing Time' I ended my review "I really hope there will be a sequel!" and here it is! Needless to say, I jumped at the chance to read and review this and I have to say I'm so impressed with how the story progresses, mysteries revealed only to pose more to be investigated. The characters are superbly portrayed and have 'grown' in personality and relationships since their appearance in the first novel.
The romance between Addie and Blake is developing well but Otto is as machiavellian as ever, determined, scheming and dangerous, decidedly a nasty piece of work out to manipulate and abuse Addison's talents for his own benefits. The couple are in danger again from Otto's machinations and they run for their lives, trying to stay away from this criminal mastermind. As Addie learns more about the secrets her own family have been hiding she is shocked and dismayed but she is also now more able to embrace her own psychic talents and better able to put them to use for good. However, against such a foe, will they stand a chance of achieving their HEA or will Otto win? Can Addie find out what has happened to her father and grandfather?
The dramatic events quickly entrap the reader in this thrilling story, taking them on a roller coaster ride, empathising with the characters, their feelings and reactions to events. It is superbly written painting vivid images in the imagination of the reader, with superb characters, action packed adventures, secrets to be discovered and an enthralling journey too with plenty of surprises along the way. The investigations lead on to even more intertwined mysteries.
I highly recommend this novel, a great journey in time and back again, with mysteries, romance, suspense and thrills galore in a superbly crafted story and thank the author, publishers and Barclay Publicity for providing an ARC of this in exchange for my honest review.
I will be participating in the Blog Tour for this book on December 11th, 2015 which includes a rafflecopter giveaway. The link for this will not be live until that date but will then be https://splashesintobooks.wordpress.c... The giveway will run until December 18th, 2015.
This book is every bit as exciting and riveting as the first. I really loved the character of Addie and her ability to read things by touch. When applied to the world of art, this becomes a fast-paced and engaging book that takes things to the next level. (no spoilers here but trust me, it is fabulous what the author does in this book with the talent). The writing is smooth, with a perfect blend of dialogue and action. The characters, the setting and the plot all work so well (spoilers, so I say nothing more). I really look forward to the third book in the series.

REVIEW Blake and Addison have been through a living hell because of forgeries and thefts. But does he have what it takes to protect Addison? Addison must go testify and everything is in place to protect her but it doesn't mean it will. Her gift will be put to the test in this story. Addison has a gift for reading art and her only goal is finding out what happened to her father and grandfather but how can she also save herself and Blake in all this? Come follow Addison as she tries to protect those she loves while journeying into time and back. I read book 1 in this series and enjoyed it and I am happy to read even more of this couples struggle to keep each other save. Book 2 will keep you in suspense and if you love mystery well its all in here. This was a great next in this series. We are given a small cliffhanger.
I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review.
I was SO excited to read SOMEWHERE IN TIME: The Fine Art of Deception Series, Book 2 and it didn't disappoint! It was fun visiting with Addie and Blake again, as they are two of my favorite literary characters.
Being loved gives a person strength and Addie has grown since book 1. I feel proud of her as she taps into her inner power and uses, instead of try to ignore, her psychic gifts. It's a thrill to experience being psychic through Addie! Blake is as amazing as ever; a big hunk of a gorgeous man; at once powerful and vulnerable. I admire his passion to protect the women he loves.
Otto is a worthy opponent. His villainous arm has a long reach. More than once I asked myself, 'how are they going to get out of this one'? But have no fear, Alyssa Richards delivers! This book is packed with adventure, suspense, passion, artfully crafted love scenes, history, secrets, heartbreaking loss, joyful reunions and an unexpected, yet thoroughly UNIQUE, journey that enthralls the imagination!
I love the rich textures and flavors in this book; the places we experience… the elite art world...Savannah in the gorgeous south...it's all so delicious! This book exudes elegance and grace, drawing you in and making you feel a part of this sumptuous world.
As much as I LOVE book 1, this one may be even better!!! The spell of this book lingers long after it's warm and satisfying ending. Addie & Blake live on in my mind and heart! Can't wait for book 3! In a nutshell, it's a VERY,VERY Enjoyable read!
This author does not disappoint! I read the first book in the series and it was fantastic! You could read this book as a stand alone book because background information is given; however, I would suggest reading "Undoing Time" as well for a better understanding. The characters are quite complex and astounding. You will fall in love with Addie and Blake as you follow them on their journey back in time and to the present. Danger, mystery, romance, and adventure are all found within these pages. Readers who have read the first book, it may seem to be a slow start for you as you re-read aforementioned material from book 1. Stick with it, you won't regret it. The pace is pretty even throughout. I would recommend this book to adults in search of a great mystery romance with some paranormal activity thrown in on the side. We are left wanting more in the end and I can't wait to see what Ms. Richard's has planned next!
I was given a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
In book one, we met Addie and Blake. In book two, we learn a little bit more about their time together.... before. I felt that the suspense aspect in this story was definitely better -- pairing present to past, and further weaving in the art pieces, made for exciting points in this story. Then further form the villain that is Otto, and even more excitement graces the pages.
Addie and Blake, as well as the side players we meet in this installment, are all well-written. This is an enjoyable cast of characters, and the time hoping and painting watching and Otto avoiding was fun to read. There were still a few writing characteristics that didn't work for me, but I've decided that's more of a "this reader doesn't care for it" type of thing.

What an amazing read!!! With plenty of thrills and chills served with a heaping dose of the paranormal and a side of romance, this is one book that you won’t want to put down until you’ve reached the very end. Well-developed characters and a solid storyline will have you engrossed and engaged from the get-go. Ms. Richards has done a beautiful job of bringing her characters to life. I wasn’t ready for the story to end and I am so wanting more. Kudos Ms. Richards, kudos!!! You are now one of my go-to favs for reading...can’t wait to see what’s to come.
Good Story Blake was Addie's love, her everything. Addie has gifts. She can talk to dead people. She also has visions. Blake could also make people do what he wanted to do with his mind. Blake and Addie were to testify against Otto and were both in Federal Witness Protection.I don't usually get into time travel stories, but this was pretty good because the main plot of the story wasn't about time travel. All that Blake went through, as well as Addie, and every twist and turn were really good to read. The characters, plot and overall story were good. I recommend. **I received an ARC of this story in exchange for an honest review
Somewhere in Time, Fine Art of Deception book 2, continues Blake & Addie's journey. A story of love, loss, family, & art -all wrapped up in deception, cloaked in betrayal, & sprinkled with ghosts. It's a mystery, combined with a love story of the ages. I love Alyssa's unique storylines, her take on paranormal a bit different & very refreshing. I fell in love with the characters in book one & loved learning more about them. And the writing itself is truly well done.
This is another layer in this series. As Addie and Blake get closer to getting Otto put away for his crimes and their safety, so many new secrets are exposed. Secrets about Addies dad and grpa, are they still alive?, Where are they. The most important answer Addie needs is how involved are they with Otto? Blakes mother seems to know more than she's willing to admit. How will these new secrets revealed affect the relationship between Addie and Blake? Good story and on to book 3 !
I had the first book on my TBR list when I received an ARC for the trilogy, binge reading is so much better!! The author has done a great job on world building, building suspense and some romance thrown in. I highly recommend this author and this trilogy, you will love it!!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book.
Somewhere In Time is the second book in The Fine Art Of Deception Series and it's a real page turner. Addie and Blake take you on yet another journey. If you haven't started this series, I highly recommend it.
This is an amazing boxset of this series. An amazing read that is a great binge read that is suspenseful and an edge of your seat read. I definitely recommend this read. The World building and Character building are amazing this Author has done a fantastic job. Shauna Joesten
This book starts off a month or so after the first book ends. Addy and Blake spent a month in Paris, getting to know each other and just falling even more madly in love. But reality sets in when they get home. Addy and Blake are set to testify in Otto’s trail of art forgery and theft. Understandably, Addie is a bundle of nerves about testifying against him. Otto was a scary man with a connections everywhere.
Leaving Addy at their penthouse, Blake heads over to the courthouse to testify against Otto. Only thing, he doesn’t exactly make it into the courtroom. He is attacked by two men, taken into an alley , given what was supposed to be a lethal dose of something (it wasn’t stated) and left in the alley to die.
Meanwhile, Addy gets an ominous phone call from Ellen, her ex co-worker basically warning her that she better have another plan set up in case Otto’s trial doesn’t happen or he gets off scot-free. Addy is unnerved, as I would have been, and throws up her lunch. This disturbs her to the point where she feels a migraine coming on and she decides to go to her house to get her medications and some family keepsakes.
While she was there, her migraine gets oh so much worse, even with her taking her medication and she lays down with a wet washcloth and club soda (which made me go yuck) to have a quick nap. After waking from her nap, she immediately senses a man’s presence in her house and guess who that was? Otto. See, all of Otto’s witnesses have miraculously decided not to testify against him. Otto decides to lay everything on the table with Addy. He wants her to work with him on a special project of his…using her talents to tell Otto which paintings were fakes and which ones were real and he would sell the real ones and make a killing on them. He also wants to possess Addy like he possessed Carolena, Blake’s mother. He also dangles a carrot in front of her. She helps him and he helps her find her missing grandfather and father and he leaves Blake alone. If not, well, he doesn’t help her and he doesn’t leave Blake alone. Simple enough. So she decides to think about it.
Basically, the story after this point is Blake and Addy trying to outsmart and outmaneuver Otto while trying to solve the mystery of what exactly happened to her father and grandfather.
Blake and Addy were still going on strong and their sex scenes were beyond hot. More glimpses into their past life as Sassy and Jack were seen and Otto was introduced as also being connected to them as Gary, Sassy’s fiance or boyfriend (the book wasn’t exactly clear as to what he was). Which explains why Otto was so intent in going after Addy and Blake. It was history repeating itself and it was kinda freaky.
The last part of the book was probably the most interesting part to me. There was a small twist and a huge twist thrown into what I thought was going on. What I didn’t like is that it ended in a cliffhanger. I absolutely do not like cliffhangers. But this one was pretty good and it definitely makes me want to read book 3.
***This one felt more like leftovers from the first book***
Somewhere along the way something came up missing in this series for this NetGalley reviewer. Having really enjoyed the first book, Undoing Time, I’m sorry to report the time I spent trying to read Book 2 felt like a wasted effort to recapture the same engaging storyline. At 30% into it, I began to suspect it was mostly the writing style. At times the author wrote exclusively in third person then switched to first person. Then back again. There was one entire chapter where the pronoun “he” was used exclusively/repeatedly but never revealed who “he” was. If it was done for some type of dramatic effect, it only resulted in confusion. This book may revolve around psychic abilities but I do not have them. I need to be told which character is doing what. Honestly, folks, I am a very forgiving reviewer when it comes to editing/grammar. I’m all about the actual story. However, at times I found myself having to backtrack to figure out what was going on.
I became so frustrated I wasn’t enjoying this sequel that I stopped reading and looked up my Goodreads review of Book 1, to jog my memory as to what was so appealing about the first one. Then it was blatantly obvious. Missing was more of the emotionally aspect, especially from the heroine regarding her gifts. It was replaced with Otto…Otto…Otto. I was really getting tired of even hearing that man’s name. The attempt to turn this into more of an action-packed drama over a romantic read didn’t seem to work for me. Even the steamy scenes seemed more like they were just thrown in, because they were expected.
Here’s to hoping it was just an editing issue with my early ARC e-book distributed via NetGalley. For me, it also simply wasn’t engaging as Book 1. I eventually found myself thinking Book 1 was really the focal point of this romantic tale so maybe it all should have just been wrapped up in one book.
That, my fellow romance book-loving friends, is when I knew it is time to give up the ghost and move on to my next romantic read. Maybe somewhere down the road I’ll give this one another try and feel differently. If I do, you can bet I’ll edit my review accordingly.
Title: Somewhere in Time, Series: The Fine Art of Deception (Book 2) , Author: Alyssa Richards, not a stand-alone, must read Book 1 first, paranormal elements.
Book 1 – Undoing Time, 1/18/15 Book 2 – Somewhere In Time, 12/8/15
(This review is based on NetGalley ARC generously provided in exchange for an honest, unbiased opinion.)
Oh my -- this was just as good as the first book, but with a lot more secrets, dramas and truths revealed. Alyssa Richards has created such an amazing story which such gripping characters. The plot, obsessions and the secrets were so profound.
Adeline aka Addie is still a strong, caring woman. She is more determined than ever to find her father and grandfather. She's still so honest and open about everything which is extremely valuable to her character. She's stronger in her psychic abilities as well. The way she handles things when the truths were revealed behind Blake, Grace and Otto was amazing. She never once lost her resolve to save the ones she loved. Adeline is an inspiring woman.
Blake is still the amazing man I remember from the first book. He's much more protective and stronger in his psychic ability. The love he has for Adeline truly surpasses that of the love he has for his mother. Blake makes sure that no harm comes to Addie and even when faced with life or death he still protects her. I love me some Blake!
The romance was still beautiful between Adeline and Blake. Being soul crossed lovers adds to it, but with everything being revealed about who Otto was to them and how deep their souls were connected just made their love stronger. Learning how deep their love was back in time just cemented the fact that they were meant to be together. I totally ship those two!
Otto is a sadistic man, horrible father and just needs to either be locked up or killed. The way he relentlessly goes after Addie, how easy it is for him to kill people and they way he treats his sons are just disgusting. I seriously hate him and can't wait for his demise.
Grace and Carolena are two women that can keep some deep hidden secrets that's for sure. Grace (Addie's grandmother) and Carolena (Blake's mother) both have ties with Otto that get revealed and truly blow my mind. I will say that they both tried to protect their families even though it failed either way, I love both these women. John & Campbell being alive was a lot of joy for me. I'm glad they weren't killed, but just stuck in the past. Now that they were saved I'm excited to see how things pick up from there.
I cannot wait for the third book because I need to know if they save Carolena and if Otto dies. Also did Sarah have the baby back then and if so is the baby alive and well?!
Wow! I loved this! It's so interesting and unique, and the story flows beautifully, and has some twists and turns in the story that keep you reading until the book is finished. This is book 2 in the series, so you will want to read the first book before this one because the story picks up right where the first ended. Adeline and Blake are deeply in love, and are soul mates, who have loved in a past life. Adeline has the power to touch objects and see their history, which I find to be super cool! In the first book, Blake and Addie helped the police capture art thief, Otto, and when this book begins they are waiting to testify against him, but things don't go according to plan, and since Otto knows the power Addie holds, he is determined to have her work for him, and he is willing to get his way no matter the means. Blake has protection on Addie, but Otto has his wily ways, so Blake and Addie need to figure out a way to get Otto off their back, but when Otto dangles knowledge of Addie's missing family in front of her nose, Addie is finding it hard to resist Otto's offer. Blake and Addie set off on a grand adventure for information, and some of what they find is unbelievable. Secrets are revealed, mysteries are solved, and danger is a foot! I love both Addie and Blake, their love is so sweet, and the depth of their passion for each other is so romantic; it makes me swoon. I love the mystery surrounding Addie's missing family, and I love all the art talk. I was excited by the whole premise of this book, and I just love where the author has taken this story! I'm definitely reading the next book, and more from Alyssa Richards!
Somewhere in Time by Alyssa Richards (Fine Art of Deception book two)
I just love this book it's so simplistic and the journey it takes you on is amazing. It's not a rushed story but it's not long and drawn out.
Book two takes off where book one left you. I have waited a long time to read this one and loved every minute of it.
Addie has finally found the man she has loved for several lifetimes, Blake Greenwood is the World to Addie. But as they say true love never runs smoothly and with a certain man chasing after you will Addie and Blake get there happily ever after? Addie must do everything in her power to save not only herself but that of her missing family.
The journey this story takes you on is out of this world literally, it's full of love ,emotions and hanging on the edge of your seat. The story is a mystery that drags you in to investigate more of what's happening when in one time you have the answer more questions become known. I couldn't put it down once I started the characters are action packed and the writing just draws you in. I just loved the jumping back and through time same place but different era's. The description of the paintings makes you feel like your actually looking at them.
I didn't realize this book was available and was overjoyed when I was gifted a copy.
Alyssa Richards is a brilliant writer. This book is based as paranormal but a paranormal out of this world it has everything you could wish for and I would recommend it to everyone. most definitely worth 5*****
I am so looking forward to reading the next one xxx
Somewhere in Time is the remarkable continuation of Undoing Time. When I first started this series, I had no expectations and no idea in what I was getting myself into. After reading the first book I thought I had the idea of the series somehow figured it out…. but no! I was left speechless and amazed on how the direction the story has taken.
I am so in love with the universe Alyssa Richards has built as a paranormal version of the world, much more exciting and full of possibilities. From the very first moment I started reading the story of Addie and Blake I felt in love with both characters. Stories about reincarnation are of my favorites subgenres inside the fantasy world because they blend the power of imagination with a realness that seeps into the bone.
If I thought the first book was a master piece, then I have no words to describe what the second book did to me while I was reading it. It certainly took me some time to read this one because sometimes life gets in the way.
Unfortunately, some of the better books out there are overlooked and I undoubtedly think readers should give new authors a chance to surprise them. I was one of the lucky ones when the author first contacted me with the opportunity to review this series. Hopefully the world will spread out, and deeply powerful works like this novel will reach the readers it truly deserves.
I only have praise and admiration for the work Alyssa Richards has created and the only thing I have left to say is give this series a chance because it may be your new favorite read!
Okay, can I just say wow?! I mean it. That one word sums up my entire review for this one. I really liked this one. The characters have really grown since the first one, in both personality and relationships! The story has taken on a life of it's own, the relationships, the mysteries, the... deceptions, Ms. Richards has really outdone herself this time around!
I was quickly engrossed in the story and felt a real connection to the characters. I was invested in their future... or their past, depending on how you look at it. I was completely enthralled by the idea of Addie's newly discovered ability and couldn't help but wonder what it would be like.
The writing is superb, though on a couple of occasions I did find myself going back a paragraph or two because I lost track of what was going on or who was present in the scene. Many unanswered questions from the first novel are answered this time around, but more questions are asked as each revealed mystery, each discovered lie, each exposed deception unfolds.
Once again, the novel leaves the reader on a happy, but semi-cliffhangered ending. Will they find Blake's mother? Will they finally see the end of Otto? Will they ever find their way home? What of the Gardner Art? Hopefully those questions are answered soon!
I received this book in exchange for an honest review, this does not change my opinion. Somewhere in Time is the sequel to Undoing Time, and the story begins right after. Their enemy is back for revenge, so Addie is still not in the clear. Stakes are higher, and if Addie does not figure out what her enemy wants, they might be doomed. For Somewhere in Time, the story takes a stranger twist and went down the weird end of paranormal. Addi found out a lot of secrets her grandmother Grace kept. This book is a good middle book with a lot of answers, but also has a few revelations. Overall, it is a good book that will keep you waiting for book 3.
The second book of this series will finally take you into 1920's. Not saying how, but believe me that it's magical and fun. As before, I highly recommend this unique series.
Wow! Once again, just as with the first book in this series, I fell in love with "Somewhere in Time," the second entry in The Fine Art of Deception series by Alyssa Richards. Some people seem like they're just born knowing how to write, and this author is one of them. I love the paranormal world she's created and the characters who inhabit it. Once you start reading these books, I absolutely guarantee you will not be able to stop. With so many books out there to choose from, I just want to make sure that this one, and this author, doesn't get overlooked. You won't go wrong in picking up this book and getting immersed in these characters and their story.
