When time periods collide in the final installment of The Fine Art of Deception saga, it’s possible that you really can’t go home again…

The 1920s are an era of post-war enthusiasm, where hope for better times and economic growth thrive. It’s the peak of art and artists, jazz—and gangsters. I should have known that’s where Otto sent my father and grandfather. And I’m sure he’s behind a string of forgeries that started this whole devious plot. Now I have to find him without blowing my cover and altering the present.

Despite that, I’m falling in love with the ’20s; I just wish that Blake was with me. Running into him in his past life isn’t making it easy to “leave no trace.” To make it worse, Blake’s mother has gone missing, too. I’ve heard that she’s in Paris, but is Otto with her or still in New York?

To put an end to this, we have to catch Otto for good and get everyone home. But the problem is how to get back to the present. And do I even want to return?

Man oh man! Alyssa Richards has seriously outdone herself with trilogy. It encompasses love, passion, deception, heartache, reality and alternate reality. Just a stunning from start to finish. Each character was created with such care and have developed so well over the course of the trilogy. This conclusion has gripped my heart. It made me laugh and cry.

Addie has become a much more stronger woman. Living in the 20's for 2 years has changed her for the better. She's definitely as sassy as her nickname implied. She speaks her mind a lot more and knows that things need to change. She may have been afraid of change, but when hard times came she stared it in the face and did what needed to be done. Addie is an understanding woman that loves her some Blake, but she also knew within that love she had to let go even if it hurt. Addie is the epitome of an outstanding woman.

Blake, even though a very strong man, has become much more self-centered and controlling in this conclusion. I did not like it one bit. He was rude, ignored Addie and pushed everyone away just to save his mother and get rid of Otto. In his obsession he slowly started to transform into his father. Blake just pissed me off up until the end of the story when he finally came to his senses and snapped out his funk. Even still, I loved him because it showed how he was starting to mature and grow as his own man and not as Otto's son. Blake definitely had a lot of character development in this conclusion.

The romance was written so effortlessly and with such a delicate hand. After two novels where Addie and Blake are head over heels with one another they now face troubled times after staying in the 20's for 2 years searching for Otto and Carolena. Blake has let his fears and search overtake him putting their relationship in jeopardy and things just kept going wrong from there. Blake being so arrogant and controlling paired with Addie becoming more sassy and ready to turn away really brought the romance to new levels. Throw in the alternate timing of Addie being with Philippe and you have such an amazing, heartwrenching romance.

I enjoyed seeing how they dealt with their run ins with their former selves as Jack and Sarah. That was absolutely amazing. I didn't like how things had begun to change for themselves. I was at the edge of my seat when things started changing for Blake and Jack -- complete jaw drop for me. I like how Addie fixed it though.

Otto is a diabolic man. Hands down, no words else to say -- however, he truly was a broken man in many ways. I think he just needed to feel loved and the thought of having complete control over things made him feel that. I hated from beginning to end because there was always something off and dark about him. I started feel bad when he met his demise -- ugh that scene with him and his son's. The conversation...I cried!

Philippe was really sweet. I knew he must have wanted more from Addie, but finding out the history behind them was amazing. I thought he would try to weasel his way in, but he truly was a gentleman and did the right thing. Especially at the end -- I was shocked. I freaking loved him!

Carolena is a brave woman. She left a man she knew was spiraling out of control to protect her son. She then goes back to Otto to continue protecting their son, while losing some of her soul. She is an amazing, strong woman; a phenomenal mother. I did love her from start to finish in this trilogy. She has some true strength. John & Campbell are still amazing men. I hated their choice at the end, but I did understand.

Those last few chapters tore my soul, but the overall ending was absolute perfection! Once again, this trilogy is awesome. If you're looking for a paranormal romance that's focused around psychics and time travel, definitely grab this trilogy. It's simply amazing!

REVIEW

This is the final book in this series. I would highly suggest you being it with book one however or you will have no clue what is going on. This is a time travel book and we get ghosts from both present and past and Addie is still dealing with so many things and Blake well I am shocked this man is still standing beside her. But will he still be standing with her in the end?

This book wraps up everything very nicely since we were left with a cliffhanger in book two. They are still dealing with that pain in the butt Otto. Poor Addison her ability has just brought her such heartache and danger.

If you enjoy a little paranormal, suspense and mystery this is a great book. I enjoyed this book and I am glad how things turned out for Blake and Addison. Alyssa Richards

Lost in Time (Fine Art of Deception #3)
Alyssa Richards
definitely a 5* read

The Last book in the series, and what a book it was. I'm kind of sad that it was goodbye for these fantastic characters and a amazing story. Alyssa Richards out did herself in book three. I have enjoyed every minute of this series the jumping in and out of time. I prayed Addie and Blake would make it especially in book three. At times I was sat on the edge of my seat biting my nails afraid to continue reading. I did continue though. I have been on an unimaginable journey through these books and I'm so glad I said yes to reading them. I would definitely recommend anyone to read this series even if it is not your usual style of reading, you will definitely be hooked from page one.
I look forward to seeing what Alyssa does next

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre:   Romance, fantasy and paranormal

Well, the home stretch :-) I’m in two minds – always am at this point. I love to see how the trilogy/series ends and yet its hard saying goodbye to characters that feel so real, that I’ve worried about. How authors must feel I can’t imagine.
Still, I love to reread good books, and this is one series that's so unusual, so different from anything else, that I think a back to back reading will be even more enjoyable than this piecemeal reading of instalments.
I had to reread the last couple of chapters of book two to remind myself where we were up to as its such a complex novel.

SO, by now after books one and two ( and don’t try jumping into book three without reading those, you’ll get hopelessly lost) we are well informed about the background and characters, though its been so intense and so very different to the usual fantasy/paranormal reads, that I have trouble recalling exactly how it all started and some of the connections. That's where a back to back session will make this trilogy even more enjoyable!

This picks up from the end of book two, where Blake and Addie have journeyed back through  a Wentworth painting to 1920’s. They’re hoping they can find Addie’s dad and grandfather,  find and deal with Otto, and bring back Blake’s mother who went with Otto under duress, knowing it was the only way to keep Blake and Addie safe. Simple then, should only take a short while....!
Note that term “deal with”. They’re all shying away from what they really mean, haven't quite faced up to what they have to do to stop him permanently.
Otto’s such a mad man now, so unpredictable, unable to be reasoned with that everyone is shying away from what Deal means...there’s little grounds to imprison him in the present time, he’s done some awful things, committed murder, but there’s no proof. Likewise the 1920’s, even if they could manage to get him imprisoned he’s bound to find a way out, or be there for just a short time. With his abilities to “push” people, and his manipulating but convincing nature he’d find a way.
He’s a really clever man, if only he’d stuck to his first intentions and not let the power go to his head, want more and more and become obsessed over keeping Blake’s mum. She loved him once, til he became obsessed with power and control.

Addie’s worried about Blake, its been two years now back in time. They went as partners, taking Blake’s half brother and her cousin, Phillipe, with them, but as time goes on Blake disappears for days at a time without telling her where or why he’s gone. He’s become more and more distant, obsessed with the twin aims of finding his mum, and keeping her and Addie safe from Otto. He’s becoming a control freak, and even though Addie understands his fears its pushing her away.
Phillipe, who she’s known since a child, has become much closer to her too, and Blake is jealous of that. Even though he can see what Addie needs from him, see that he’s risking their relationship by his actions, he still can’t seem to change, just getting vaguely irritated when she brings it up, saying he’ll try harder but still going on the same way, convinced he and only he can keep her safe, make the decisions needed, shutting her out physically and emotionally. Phillipe loves Addie, will keep aside if Blake is who she wants, but can see the breach happening and is ready...he even warns Blake but nothing changes.

I loved the 1920’s part, which covers most of the book. There are snippets to what’s going on in the current time via the books that send messages. As the action moves from America to Paris though they need to find a third book so they can continue to communicate with Addie's family. That's not easy, Addie’s dad and granddad know where one was earlier, but of course nothing is static and things change all the time so they have to hope its still there....
Throw in that Jack and Sarah, who are Blake and Addie in a previous incarnation,  are alive here, that Blake is becoming more like Otto in the way he sees Addie, that Addie’s dad and granddad have made a life for themselves back in time after 20 years there, and the story becomes ever more complex.
Addie's dad and granddad try to impress on Blake, Addie and Philippe how important it is not to interfere in the past, but with so much going on and being in the same place as their past selves its very difficult, and then things really come to a head!
Everything seems to happen at once, the past looks to be changing, they don’t know why or how to put it right, can only guess, they catch up with Otto but it doesn’t go well, Blake and Addie are still struggling. Philippe’s feelings are getting more intense and Blake’s jealousy stronger than ever,  but he’s still staying with ultimate control even though he can see what he’s risking. Its as if he can’t actually believe it, that the Soul Mates part that’s brought them back together in this incarnation can’t change – but it can, especially if the past changes...
I was desperate for them to make it, I love Philippe, but it’s Blake and Addie that make the magic for me, they belong together, and I wanted that for them with Phillipe getting his own lady at some point. Would it happen though or would it all go wrong?

Its riveting story, full of surprises. I really felt I was back in the Twenties with them, loved the descriptions of the clothes, the day to day life, and the week it took them to sail to Paris. Travel wasn’t quick and simple then. Of course they had money and that makes things easier, and it was because of the first two books, where we saw how they’d amassed what they needed that made this part feel so genuine.
I hate books where things come up for convenience, and they get funds by the equivalent of some kind of lottery win, unknown relative leaving a fortune or something. Done this way, where we know where the money has come from, can see the trail and it makes sense, then I’m happy.

The last quarter is non stop action it feels, with things looking positive, then its all turned around. There’s several different plotlines all coming to a head at the same time, and its almost breathless the way I was speed reading through full of excitement, happy one moment and then down when it all went wrong once more.
I really couldn’t guess how things would get resolved, what would happen, and its clever writing like this that kept me wondering if, how, why and when....

A fabulous read, something so very different in the Fantasy/Paranormal genre where it’s dominated by stories are just a couple of hundred pages or less of a Vampire or Were hundreds of years old finding his Mate, in a simplistic, sickly thin story * roll eyes * so its a real treat to get a book I can really get stuck into, lost in the magic (!) of the story.
I’m hoping that maybe there’s more to come from this world, perhaps Phillipe or some other relatives have inherited some of the reading/pushing talents that allow the story to continue but focus on them, and keeping Addie and Blake happy, just showing us them in cameo roles.

Stars: Five, one to keep, to savour rereading the whole trilogy back to back.

Lost in Time (The Fine Art of Deception #3) by Alyssa Richards finally concludes the series with a “BANG”. Many series tend to drag themselves to their end when the author has exhausted all possible plotlines to early to fill the pages.

Then there are books like this … since the first pages from the first book the reader was pushed into a never ending twist and turn of events. The contemporary romance morphed into suspense, into mystery, into paranormal, into time travel. There was never a dull moment and I regret that it comes to an end.

But its best to get out while you are ahead and this story definitely is.
Each of the books seemed to have a focus on a certain genre and while for example the first book was mostly the mystery and the idea of suspense with a hint of paranormal - here in the third book I felt it was mostly the romance and the time travel.

I am not a fan of time travel – but the way it was used here – with the fact that the characters were already familiar to me – it worked for me. Including all plot twists and the way the relationship between Adeline and Blake developed it kept me engaged until the end.

I have to admit it was quite hard to get back into the swing of things because it has been more than 1,5 years since I read the first book. This really is a series that should be read back to back and now that all 3 parts are out – why not do it during your next holiday ?

I really loved all the characters and how all the different strings wove into a complete plot

What a great end to the trilogy! Was difficult though. Wasn’t sure if I was pro Blake or pro Philip. Highly recommend!

Lost in Time starts 2 years after Addie, Blake and Philippe were sent through a painting by Otto, Philippe and Blake’s father, and ended up in 1920 New York City. After making sure they weren’t able to get home, Otto then kidnapped Carolena, Blake’s mother and disappears. In the 2 years that they have been in the past, Blake has been searching tirelessly for Carolena, Otto and the paintings that are the key to returning them to the present. Also in the past with them are Addie’s father and grandfather….also banished there by Otto.

For 2 years, Addie and Blake have been very careful about who they talk to in the past. They do not want to change future events. But that all comes to a head when Blake meets Sarah, who Addie is reincarnated as in the future, and Addie meets Jack, who is Blake reincarnated in the future. Taken by surprise by a kiss, Addie warns Jack to be careful. What happens with those words changes her and Blake’s future and present in a big way.

Addie also has become very irritated with her relationship with Blake. In the 2 years that they have been there, he has become very focused on finding his mother and a way home…leaving Addie feeling alone and abandoned. The only way that they connect these days are when they have sex and even then, Blake is holding a piece of himself back.

Then they get word that Carolena is definitely in Paris and they all head there to go get her. Meanwhile, back in the future, Addie’s grandmother notices that a weird cloud is covering Blake in every single picture that they have. She finally realizes that something must have happened in the past for Blake to start being erased and sends word to Addie through a first edition of a F. Scott Fitzgerald book. They use that book to communicate with everyone.

What happens after they get to Paris? You need to read the book to find out.

I loved that the author chose to make Blake and Addie got through relationship difficulties…instead of everything being peachykeen. The ups and downs of their relationship was so realistic and added so much to the book. I mean, even Addie pleading with Blake to please open up, to please let her in, is something that everyone is relationships have said at one point.

Addie was definitely a fish out of water in the early 1920’s. I don’t know if I would have been able to pull off what society expected a woman in the era to be and I give her props for doing it.

I was a little disappointed that we didn’t see Addie’s gifts in full force in this book. I mean, she did talk to 2 ghosts, she was able to pick up on Carolena just by touching a tub and she used her abilities to see if the paintings were a forgery or not (and her other gift was also used). I just wanted to see her interact more with the ghosts. I know, weird.

Blake had the weight of the world on his shoulders and I felt bad for him. He was trying to protect (or control….depends on how you look at it) Addie, find his mother, find Otto and find the paintings that can bring them home. He has been at it for 2 years and I am surprised that he didn’t crack under the pressure. He was, though, at one point in the book, starting to act just like his father and I wanted to reach through and give him a smack on the back of the head and tell him to knock it off.

The sex between Blake and Addie was as hot as ever. Those scenes scorched the pages, they were so hot. Which was very good…lol.

The end of the book was very sad, in places, and it was what I expected. All of the storylines were resolved in a very satisfactory way. I will say that I didn’t expect the people to stay in the past who stayed. Looking back, there were signs but I was still surprised.

The series as a whole was excellent. I think I learned more about art from this series of books then I expected.

I loved the first two book of the Fine Art of Deception series and I am was so excited after I got the email saying the last book was out and I will just say I was blown away. I very much enjoyed the story line with Addie and Blake having some conflict while trying to stop Otto. I am not going to give spoilers because I don't like it when others do that to me, but I would say it does not disappoint.

Different

This was a little different so I could see the the original spin but the story was disjointed and often confusing. This comes more from the often contradictory thoughts and speech of the characters and this in turn made it hard to connect. Possibly too many things happening at once but the book does have something other readers may find more satisfying than this reader did.
