I was drawn to this book because of its connection with Elvis Presley. I also loved the cover, which depicted a wholesome main street of shops that stirred up a nostalgic/heartwarming feeling within me. I've read about Elvis Presley for decades, and was fortunate to have finally made the pilgrimage to Graceland and Memphis in 2019.

This is a lighthearted and touching book about a young woman in Wales who has a shop called Blue Moon Vintage Clothing. Her name is Daisy and she is passionate about fifties type music and the era itself, heavily influenced by her beloved Grandma Rose. Her Grandma is all about Elvis, has her home decorated with all sorts of memorabilia and a classic record player to spin her long player Elvis albums. Strangely enough, Daisy's Mom Lillian seems to eschew all of this and is more strait laced. But, Grandma Rose seems to be losing it mentally at the beginning of the book, and shortly dies thereafter. However, before dying she mutters that Lillian's father was Elvis Presley. Lillian grew up without a father, but Rose never confessed to Lillian his identity.

Next thing you know, Daisy and her Mom Lillian are boarding a plan to visit Memphis, Tennessee, USA, and of course Graceland in search of the truth. However, at the last second Lillian decides she doesn't want to go, so Daisy embarks on this unique journey alone.

My favorite parts of the book were the descriptions of all the guided tours Daisy went on, because I went to the exact same historic points- and so it was fun to read about and refer to photos from my trip. The parts I felt were weak were with some of the outlying characters, which were people she met and sat next to on the airplane. These characters remained in the story as they stayed at the same motel and went on tours together. I found them rather silly and lacking in authenticity. When the book focused solely on Daisy's journey, I enjoyed it more. I also found Daisy's mother to be a weak and unlikeable character until she was redeemed somewhat by the end of the book. In addition, certain details of the storyline were less believable and I also realized after finishing the book that Daisy's own father was never mentioned (unless I missed something!). So, this was a mixed bag for me and I'm going to rate it "Good"- which is 3 Stars.

… from Clandovey, Wales TO Graceland, Memphis, Tennessee!

Daisy’s quest is filled with missteps, adventure, and shining lights until the truth is revealed.
I so enjoyed the idea of Daisy, with her grandmother Rose’s assistance, running a vintage clothes shop with the name ‘Blue Moon Vintage’. I was caught right there. I could live with Daisy searching for the truth about her grandfather, the hype around Elvis and Graceland, but after the initial whoha I ‘ALMOST’ lost interest. Then I honed in. Along with Daisy’s purchase of the cowboy boots “that felt as though she was destined to have them. The unusual rose pattern embossed into the leather would be a fitting tribute to her music-loving nana,” just as Daisy’s search to solve the mystery of her grandfather was a tribute. I was hooked!
What a fabulous concept. Lost generational love! ❤️The search for the man who was that lost love, and all that follows. And let’s not forget the cop called Blue— Officer Joe Cody.
A love story for the ages!

Many thanks to the author and publisher.

This is the sweetest, warm hearted, touching and enjoyable romance I have read in quite some time. The characters are delightful and just so lovable. From the first chapter until the last sentence I was enthralled with the unique characters and each persons story line. The setting was fun and the little comedic experiences added a lightness that made it all such fun. This would make a wonderful romantic comedy movie. I read this book in one evening as I just had to find out how it would end.

I can’t thank One More Chapter, Harper Collins UK and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this amazing ebook. I highly recommend this to anybody looking for a reason to smile and feel happy.

I loved the title, the cover, the blurb … but it just moved a little slow for me. It was nice, it was an easy read and I certainly don’t regret it… it just lacked a little oomph for me. But not every book is for every person it’s still a very well written and lovely story.
Daisy is a lovely character and I have envy over her boots! They are a great bunch … maybe not Sid!

The cover of this book totally called to me. And, then, when I found out that it involved Elvis, I was ready to go.

I realized that this would be a quirky story within the first few pages. Daisy has always felt like she was a throwback to the 1950s and dressed to reflect this. Rose, her grandmother had been a teenager during the 1950s and somehow her mind stays in the era. Lillian is the generation in between, Rose's daughter, and Daisy's mother. She tries to keep reality in their lives. When Rose is on her death bed she confesses that Elvis Presley could be Lillian's father. And, so it begins.

Daisy embarks on a trip to Memphis to see if she could discover any truth to Rose's claim. We follow Daisy on her adventure. There is a lot for her to discover in Memphis besides Graceland, even a bit of a romantic interlude. I can't help but cheer her on, hoping she finds what she is looking for. She does get closure, and more!

This is a fun book to read. A little bit quirky (as is Daisy), a little bit of adventure, a little bit of fantasy. I love the descriptions of Memphis and Graceland. I have seen it myself, I enjoy revisiting it.

A couple of the side stories involving secondary characters did not add anything to the story. They just took up extra space.

There were a few “inserts” throughout the book referencing Elvis's history. Some of the facts were known, others were new to me. These parts were interesting to me, and they fit well with the story.

I enjoyed the book, it was quick, entertaining and light. A sweet story.

Rock n Rose is a bittersweet charming story. Daisy is swept up in 1950s nostalgia thanks to her grandmother Rose. Right before she dies, Rose reveals the father of her only daughter, Lily. Daisy sets off on a once in a lifetime trip to Memphis to see if she really is a Presley.
Ever since seeing the Elvis this summer I’ve done a deep dove into the land of E. I loved all the references and descriptions of Elvis, his home, and the other characters.
I really loved Officer Joe as well as his southern manners and silky voice.
If you love Elvis then you simply must read it. It will leave you with “Memories.”

You don’t need to be a fan of sixties music to be completely gripped by Suzan Holder’s enjoyable new novel, Rock ‘n’ Rose.

In the summer of 1960, Rose had been eighteen years old and desperate to experience life and go on an adventure she would remember forever. So, she decided to throw all caution to the wind and go over to Memphis where she planned to have the time of her life. Rose was sure that her trip to Memphis was going to be life-changing – and indeed she wasn’t wrong because she returned back home with more than just memories all those years ago. Rose had come back pregnant with a child and years later makes a shocking confession to her granddaughter Daisy: the father of her baby was none other than the King of Rock and Roll himself, Elvis Presley!

Daisy is sure that her grandmother’s claim is not true. There is no way on earth that her grandmother was pregnant with Elvis’ baby, but what if Rose was actually telling the truth? When her grandmother dies and leaves her with a ticket to Memphis, Tennessee, Daisy realises that the time has come for her to discover the truth. Did Rose sleep with Elvis and have his baby? Or was her imagination running away with her? Whatever happens, Daisy vows to get to the bottom of this mystery. However, when she gets to Memphis, she ends up learning a valuable lesson: that standing out is so much more fun than fitting in and that being different does have its advantages – namely in the shape of a gorgeous stranger called Joe Cody aka Officer Blue Eyes…

Suzan Holder’s Rock ‘n’ Rose is a wonderful book about family secrets, following your dreams and finding out who you really are packed with atmosphere, drama, emotion and humour. Suzan Holder has written a fantastic story that will resonate with readers who never quite fitted in and Rock ‘n’ Rose is sure to inspire them to be more accepting of themselves and to always march to the beat of their own drums – regardless of what anyone else says!

An engrossing and enjoyable read from a writer to watch out for, Suzan Holder’s Rock ‘n’ Rose is a poignant and life-affirming tale that is hard to resist.

Rock N Rose by Suzan Holder is an absolutely delightful contemporary novel that warmed my heart and soul.
The central premise is a really intriguing one that really captures the reader’s imagination. It is so well written by Suzan Holder that the reader wonders, could it actually be true? And to be honest, I wanted it to be true!
Rock N Rose feels like a fairy story for grown-ups. The story surrounds Elvis Presley and Graceland as we travel from the Welsh valleys to Memphis. There has always been a bit of a mystery to Graceland, and a terrible tragedy that Elvis died so young and alone. As Suzan Holder says in her novel, it was a defining moment, we all know where we were when we heard the news on 16th August 1977. I still remember the disbelief that the king of rock and roll was dead. It is a moment where I have been frozen in time (along with where I was and how I felt when I heard that Tommy Jansson, a speedway rider, had died on 20th May 1976, and also when Princess Diana died).
The novel is about love, missed chances and new opportunities. There is so much love that radiates from the pages. There is a love that lasted a lifetime, a new love beginning to bud and a love between a grandmother and her granddaughter. Love does not turn off at the point of death. Love lasts as our memories keep us warm.
It is a bittersweet read about missed opportunities as we witness the damage meddling can do. The reader wishes there was a do-over button. How different lives would be.
I loved all the characters. They were well drawn. Likable and realistic. There were some really fun characters who knew how to grab life and really live it. There were characters teetering on the edge of life who needed to seize the day for tomorrow is not guaranteed.
Pilgrimages to Graceland on behalf of those no longer here, offered opportunities to glimpse into the past. It was a different but beautiful bygone era.
The novel is mainly set in the present but with flashbacks to 1960. It is all beautifully and seamlessly done.
Rock N Rose was a really fun read. It sparkles with life and I loved it. I cannot wait to read more by Suzan Holder.
I received a free copy via Net Galley for a blog tour with Rachel’s Random Resources. A favourable review was not required. All opinions are my own.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced reading copy in exchange for review. I really enjoyed Holders Shake it Up, Beverley as a huge Beatles fan, and while I’m not a devout Elvis fan, I was still quite looking forward to reading this book. I really enjoyed all the trivia and tidbits about Elvis, his family, songs and career. I found myself listening to Elvis songs while reading, and looking up info online of things I hadn’t heard of - like the infamous Jungle Room! Thanks to Holder for another fab reading experience, looking forward to another music-themed book very soon.

Today, is my spot on blog tour with Rachel’s Random Resources for Suzan Holder’s Rock’n Rose. I read this heartwarming novel as an ebook for the blog tour and I’m so happy I got to read this. The story follows Daisy, Roses’s granddaughter who travels to Memphis and Graceland to find about her mysterious grandfather. Just like her grandmother, Daisy too finds love in Memphis. I loved the quirky characters in this novel, and taking a trip to Graceland, the home of Elvis Presley, via this delightful novel. I loved the 1960s references, and all the music and song mentions. This novel made perfect reading for me.
Elvis, of course, had sadly died before I was born, but my mother adored all of his films and music. I was brought up watching Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Elvis Presley films. Viva Las Vegas is still my favourite. We had a record player and a ton of Elvis, Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra records, so I can really relate to Daisy. I loved Rock’n Roll music and learned to dance Jive in ballroom lessons. I’d love to visit Graceland one day, so reading all about Elvis and his amazing home has been a real treat.
I loved discovering a new author whose writing style I love, I also like the character development, and getting to know the characters as the story unfolds. It was a beautifully written novel about love, loss, family and the King of Rock’n Roll of course. This was such a great read, and I cannot wait to read more novels by Suzan Holder in the future. I’m giving this novel 5 stars as I really loved Rock’n Rose and I know that other readers will love it too, especially if they are Elvis fans like me.

Rock 'n' Rose
By: Suzan Holder
Harper Collins, UK, One More Chapter, One More Chapter
Pub date: 9/1/2022
Genre: Romance

Holder writes with wit, tenderness, and charm in this very original and entertaining book. Daisy owns Blue Moon Vintage in the little Welsh town of Llandovery. Shortly before her death, Daisy's ill grandmother Rose shares a secret from the summer of 1960. The only way to discover the truth, which might have a connection to Elvis Presley, is for Daisy to travel to Memphis, Tennessee and figure things out. Rock 'n' Rose is the perfect book for me in three ways, all wrapped up in vintage style.

First, I love a story of family connections and roots, and this one is rich in a granddaughter-grandmother relationship. Next, when musical history is included, I am there. So much history of Elvis Presley and the music of the 50s and 60s is part of the story. Finally, setting and locale is everything for me. Beginning in Wales, the musical theme becomes even deeper as the narrative moves to Memphis, a city steeped in rock and blues heritage, as well as important Civil Rights history. Graceland, Sun Studio, Beale Street,
and the Martin Luther King Memorial, all included in the book, are landmarks that I visited upon traveling to Memphis myself.

Thank you Net Galley and Harper Collins, UK, One More Chapter, and Rachel's Random Resources for the advance reader's copy and opportunity to provide my unbiased review on this book tour.

Elvis was part of my childhood so I was keen to read this book. Outside my normal genre this was a bit far fetched, a bit predictable and utterly enchanting. The book is full of great characters, most of whom are larger than life but nice people apart from Sid the Snake and, for most of the book, Lily. I loved the descriptions of Memphis and the various tourist attractions, it’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to visit. Written mainly in the present but with flashbacks to Rose’s visit to her friend in the 1960’s; the trip that changed her life.

Briefly, Daisy has followed in her grandmother Rose’ footsteps. She loves everything about the 1960’s unlike her mother Lillian (Lily) who has refused to be part of their obsession. When Rose is dying she whispers to Daisy that Elvis Presley was Lily father and after her death Daisy finds Rose has left her a ticket to Memphis. Although she is sceptical about Rose’s claim Daisy decides to use the ticket and see what she can discover; and she finds a lot more than she bargained for!

The overriding theme of the book is love. Love between families, love sadly cut short by outside interference, love found in the most unexpected circumstances. The ending was happy but tinged with sadness at the missed opportunities for Rose. A great feel good read but with a bittersweet moment that lasted a lifetime and affected three generations.

This book was a rollercoaster from start to finish, I loved the idea of Elvis and Graceland so I knew this book would be right up my street but this book surprised me so much. The writing style was incredible and nothing like I have read before, Daisy and Rose as characters were so loving and I just adored them from the start! Blue was another character I loved, Lillian ‘Lily’ was a frustrating character until I had about 20% of the book left and I then loved her. Wes was such an adorable and lovely character, I think he had such a special part in this book and I just loved him.

The story follows Daisy who has a ticket to do the Graceland experience after her grandmother passes away and she has a family secret to uncover, I loved the fact I learnt so much about Elvis and Graceland throughout this book. I just found the story so captivating and I wanted to enjoy the rise of the story so I didn’t rush to finish this. The ending finished up perfectly for me and I did find myself feeling a little emotional that it was over, I had just grown so attached to the characters and the world that I didn’t want to leave.

I loved this so much and I will definitely be picking up more from this author going forward!

I really enjoyed Suzan's first novel last year (Shake it up Beverley), so was really looking forward to reading this, her second book, this time.

And I wasn't disappointed! As with the first story, it's a quirky and fun romantic story with a musical twist - this time the twist is on the the King of rock'n'roll himself, none other than Elvis!

I have to admit I'm not a big Elvis fan, but I do appreciate his place in popular music and culture. And you don't have to be a fan to read this story either - or if you are, it'll be a bonus!

Suzan has once again created a charming love story with a musical theme at its centre, and I loved all the attention to detail and references to Elvis's life that show she must have really researched this well, and no doubt must have visited Graceland herself.

I won't give away too much of the actual story, but I have to say I really enjoyed it from start to finish, and this book is every bit as good as the first.

Well done to Suzan for writing another winning book that has wide appeal, and a nice happy ending.
Definitely check this out for yourself, especially if you enjoyed the first book - it's now or never!

Rock and Rose is a beautiful book about a personal journey.

Daisy, a thrift thrift store owner in Wales, has an amazing bond with her grandmother Rose. Rose likes everything to do with Elvis and her house has a lot of memorabilia. Her house was very atmospheric.

Daisy's mother Lillian does not seem to share in this passion for Elvis, but it is passed down to Daisy.

I love books that have something passed down through the generations and where you can see the bond between generations. I was sad when Rose died and I was keen to follow Daisy on her journey to Memphis.

I like the quirky cover, and the street on it looked inviting. Just from that, I wanted to go on the journey.

Thanks to Susan Holder, Boldwood Books and Rachel's Random Resources for my eARC in exhange for an honest and voluntary review.

Daisy travels to Memphis after her grandmother hinted just before she died that her mother might have been as a result of a fling with a certain Elvis Presley..... As with the author's previous book that I had read and enjoyed the background is heavily influenced by music, this time with Elvis Presley. I've not really followed his career and music, however I still found the background interesting. There is romance with a local police officer, a surprise visitor and a suspicious character blended together with a touch of humour. Again this is a slow burner, so not for those who prefer something faster paced, but a book to sit back and relax with whilst immersing yourself in all things Elvis. I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book which I have already pre-ordered.

On her deathbed Rose Featherstone reveals to her daughter that her father was Elvis Presley. She had visited Memphis in the 60's where she had embarked on a brief love affair. Resulting in a child.
Coming to terms with the news. Her Granddaughter Daisy embarks on a trip to discover if there is any truth to her grandmothers claims.
Flying into the fabled city she shares the trip with a great bunch of characters. Who lighten the story in the book. (imagine waking up to Elvis in your room!)
She also meets Blue. A Memphis cop. Could Daisy find her blood family and a new love?
A heart warming story with lots of references to the swinging 60's and the musical era.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to see an ARC

What a fabulous feel good story filled with love, loss, friendship and discovery. The main character, Daisy, loses her beloved nan, Rose, at the start of the book and this then sets off a voyage of discovery - is she really related to Elvis?

I loved all the descriptions of Graceland, the author has clearly spent either many hours wandering the home or many researching every inch by photos and documentaries. Whatever it was, it paid off as the details are amazing.

Daisy also has the best fashion sense, vintage and a “who cares” attitude to herself. She fits in well with the tour group and makes some great friends - and the witty banter with them is just brilliant.

I loved this and its such an easy cosy read, definitely one to read after a heavier novel.

No need to worry about book 2 nerves with this author, she's knocked it out the park all over again!
Fun read- I am obsessed with Daisy's fashion which really brings her to life. I also adore the family names all being flowers.
Feel light and free and get whisked away in Elvis territory where more than you think happens in the most gorgeous way.
A welsh setting that doesn't throw all the stereotypical welsh-isms down your throat is also very welcomed here.

Lots of laughter, love and light hearted reading. Blissful.

This is a quick read and very enjoyable I liked all the Elvia references was interesting to read about him.

Daisy is very close to her Grandmother Rose and they love everything rock n roll. Rose confesses that Daisy’s Mum Lillian is the daughter of Elvis. This is where the story ends up in Memphis where Daisy meets lots of people and tries to discover if Rose was telling the truth.

I liked the characters and some of the book was funny but also sad. The book certainly made me want to read on and discovers what happens.

As a fan of history and musicals this book really appealed to me, and I think for anyone who enjoys the rock n roll period and of course Elvis Presley will enjoy this book.

I really liked the character of Daisy and enjoyed reading about her experiences in Memphis. It was written in a very detailed way so I felt like I could build up a strong visual for the settings whilst reading. It was a really nice read and one that I think a lot of readers will enjoy.

I love, love, love this book! Just the most gorgeous story, set initially in Wales, so a win with me straight away! I adored Daisy and her Grandmother, Rose. When Rose dies, Daisy travels to Memphis in search of the truth behind a secret her Grandmother kept. Her adventures are often funny and heartbreaking. It was so emotional when Daisy found out the truth about Rose's past, especially how it affected Lillian. I couldn't get enough of this book and could have carried on reading Daisy's story
