This series has steadily headed in a direction I really didn’t expect though that’s not to say it’s a bad one. There is a consideration of characters internal lives and emotions that you don’t expect from books of this genre. There’s also a pretty prominent romance plot line in this book that has been building for awhile. The plot continues to develop more, the characters continue to be great but there is a soft touch to this series and this book in particular that is usually absent from this genre. Personally I love it, this book is really a sort of rather odd marrying of the normally quite serious and plot focused books of the progression fantasy and lit rpg genre and the urban fantasy romances I also read. There’s just a gentleness to aspects of it that I found myself really loving but also being so surprised by. It’s not at all the direction I expected when I started reading these books but I can’t say I’m disappointed. A lot of people that are drawn to this genre may not be on board with this I suspect but you should give it a go and if your someone like me you’ll love it.
Man I don't know how I feel about this book. First and foremost, dope ass cover. Onto the book though.. The vast majority of it was just slightly above boring. Whilst the characters were interesting within the first few books we're just seeing limited character growth (there's some but it's not as relevant IMHO). Ian is an interesting character but he's honestly just felt the same for the last few installations; we've met quite a few new characters but none have become more than side characters, most being irrelevant, soon after we've met them.
This one is rough, had the end not been sort of interesting I might have tapped out. I think I still might for now.
A great continuation to the series. Unlike the previous one there wasn’t a moment where it dragged. Each event had propose and held my interest. Minimal supposition as well. Looking forward to the next one.
