A truly humorous and realistic take on surviving breakups, overcoming insecurities and recognising self worth —with a protagonist whose Bridget Jones level catastrophes make this utterly unputdownable!

Celebrity blogger, Abby Jones thought she everything she wanted. Dream writing career.thosands of followers. Perfect boyfriend. That is ....until she finds that email.

With her impossible-to-please boss and pressure mounting under the spotlight of her fans, Abby’s just trying to process the ups and downs of her sudden breakup,as well as protect her reputation as a “love expert”.

But when Abby’s tasked with writing about her breakup in a new blog series, she learns that writing the rules is far easier than following them...

I really enjoyed this, the writing was absolutely amazing and the characters were really well written. Abby was an absolutely charming character that I really empathised with (she went through ALOT.) Though there’s some truly funny moments,Tabitha Bree also perfectly balanced them alongside the sadder and more realistic aspects of a breakup, which made this such an incredible read.

Overall, it’s incredibly funny, heartwarming and undeniably addictive and the ending was just soo satisfying. If you enjoy a good rom-com then I would definitely recommend you check this out.

Also, I just wanted to say a massive thank you to Tabitha Bree for the digital arc

I felt this one in my soul... ⁣

RULES OF A BREAKUP took me back to my first heartache and I laughed and I teared up over this charming and relatable story of breakups & self discovery. ⁣

Abby Jones is an engaging main character,⁣ who goes through the highs & lows of a breakup while trying to hold it together as a successful "love expert". I was so invested in Abby's story, easily empathised and was commiserating right there with her over wines (cocktails in my experience) and numerous tubs of ice cream. ⁣

Where was this book all those years ago!? Maybe I could've avoided some heartache...⁣
I think I broke a number of these breakup rules! 🤦🏻‍♀️ ⁣

I enjoyed the humour and authenticity in Tabitha Bree's writing. #RulesOfABreakUp is well-paced & addictive with well-drawn characters and I easily flew through this one! I don't read much non-fiction but much prefer to read and reflect over fiction like this, which resonates so well with empowering messages while equally being entertaining. ⁣

I look forward to seeing what Tabitha Bree comes out with next and in the meantime I'll be checking out her backlist, starting with SEEKING A PLUS ONE for #AustralianReadingHour tonight. I'm excited to have found a new Australian romance author to enjoy! ⁣

If you're looking for a funny, heartfelt, low-steam romcom then RULES OF A BREAKUP is definitely one to check out.

Thank you to the author Tabitha Bree for providing an eARC for review.

Wonderful Survival Tale for A Break-Up!

This book was heartwarming, funny, sad - all the feels - for any of us who have ever been heartbroken (and who hasn't!). Abbey is devastated when her vision of her future is lost and she spirals! She has friends to support her and her job as an advice columnist trying to write about the correct thing to do while often doing the exact opposite creates humorous situations. Through her perspective we (and Abbey) finally see that Josh was NOT the perfect boyfriend - and she also realizes what fabulous friends she has supporting her. This book was definitely more "chick-lit", than romance but it provides inspiration for all of us that we too can follow Abbey's Rules and also survive a break-up.

Abby writes about relationships through the rosy lenses of her lucky experience, or so she thought!
When she lives through her breakup she had to still write... The rules of breakups! It's not fair!
And it will be a long process to knowing oneself and regaining the lost self-esteem.

New Take on a Breakup

This book will make you laugh and feel sorry for what the main character is going through. The situations that Abbey finds herself in are ridiculous, hilarious and actually possible. The self discovery that this character, Abbey, goes through is long and painful. When she discovers that he boyfriend of seven years has cheated on her she goes through a depression, and her boss at the magazine she works at wants her to write about the Rules of Breakups.

Through these rules she finds out things about herself that she doesn't always like, and the question is does she follow. Her own rules or does she break them.

The heat in this book is around the 🌶 Bell Pepper basically nonexistent, there are a couple of scenes that could be hot but basically skip to the after math. Nothing wrong with that, just a heads up. I give this book 3 out of 5 ⭐⭐⭐. The reason for this rating is that I didn't find this book a page turner, it was funny but mainly I wanted to smack the main character Abbey. I will be honest and say that I didn't ever go through a break up that I was this broken up about, so maybe that's why I can't relate. But I think that this book will be a great read for those who have had a hard breakup, and would enjoy some funny situations.

I hope this helps you find your next Tantalizing Tome!

Reading this book I feel like really watching a train wreck: every decision the main character made is a HUGE mistake-seen it from the comfort of your outsider view as a reader- but you can’t stop reading of every step, every move she makes. And the blog post are too cold, I was expecting a more personal approach, but maybe that was what the author wanted in order to create a confronted story.
Anyway, I have enjoyed this story very much, even when you know what’s going to happen(the wedding mess, the candles and the fire!) but the moments of clarity she has at the end, about Josh and about her job, going to her mum and accepting her own mistakes, made me kind of teary-eyed.
So what I’m trying to say is that I highly recommend this book: it will help you to relax immersing yourself in Abbey’s messy life and you’ll enjoy it!
