This is how you write a novella. This is how you write a story, full stop. Less than 70 pages and the author managed to convey everything that needed to be conveyed.

Though of course, I wish we had more.

Josiah and Majesty (I fuckin’ love her name and how he played around with that) just had it. I felt like their relationship portrayed a realistic outlook. He thought he was giving her everything she wanted, misunderstanding as so many men do what the concept of providing actually means.

She took it because she genuinely loved him. But you always get to a point where you’re sick of it and it took them having time apart to realise certain things.

I love that Josiah never gave up, did not have it in him to give up on her and was adamant on making things right. Majesty knew what she was worth, fought for it and didn’t settle for anything less. Till he gave her what she wanted.

I just fuckin’ loved this! Black romance and love at its finest for me.

Josiah really tried it! Sir, how do you expect to be in a committed relationship for three years and NOT romance or wine and dine your woman?!!! No flowers, no dates, or even Netflix and chill because “that cute shyt has never been me.” Apparently, Majesty is suppose to just be okay with this because, she knew this about him when they met. So, of course, this makes his lack of attentiveness justifiable. Sigh…….. Josiah is under the misguided notion that just because he pays the bills, buys Majesty material things, and laces her pockets with cash, he’s taking care of home. Wrong my guy! Regardless of what you do financially, we still require time specifically set aside for us and we need to feel wanted. Majesty knew her worth and wouldn’t to settle for less than what she deserved. When Josiah refused to hear her and give her that emotional connection she was craving from him, she left. When Majesty starts trying to date other people (I say trying because, he shut that shyt down real quick), Josiah realizes he needs to figure some things out expeditiously before it’s too late. After a conversation with Midnight, he FINALLY gets it and starts making all the right moves. I loved Josiah’s determination to get his woman back. That apology was everything and his romantic gesture had my heart fluttering all over the place. When I tell y’all, I ate this book up! His Majesty was such a good story. It was short but, it had just the right amount of sweetness and filth to keep me intrigued. This was my first book by Shon and I loved it. I look forward to reading more from her.

BDE power up!!! 😩😩 I LOVED me some Josiah. Josiah was a straightforward ninja. He gone make sure ya bills paid, your hair and nail appointments are covered and anything else you’d want from a material standpoint but it was crystal clear that his love language was not quality time. Unfortunately for him, that was the ONLY language Majesty spoke. After 3 years of of being on an emotional hamster wheel, Majesty is ready to get off, cut her losses and see what else is out there for her. Now she should’ve known better than to think Josiah wasn’t gonna yoke her up every time! Josiah finally understands that his heart doesn’t beat the same without His Majesty and my dude came all the way correct!! 🥰❤️ This was way too short!! I love when a novella leaves you wanting more! It felt like a full story wrapped in a small package! I hope we see more from them in the future!

what a great way to start off my bday month! i found this book on tik tok because ONE (1) passage that was posted and i was not disappointed. this man was fucking crazy JUST HOW I LIKE IT! this gave me alllll the feels. at first majesty got on my nerves until i saw why they broke up and i definitely understood. i just ate this book up i need more.

This is a second chance romance short story! It's basically like 80 pages I think? BUT SO GOOD THE SMUT AND THE ROMANCE? WOWWW. I'm game. I love an unhinged man ngl and he's a little bit jealous a little bit messy and that's alright. I loved Majesty and Josiah they were *chef kiss* they knew they loved each other still but a girl wants romance and small moments and THE DETAILS so she walked away bc Josiah was not giving her that. But he realized he was in the wrong and changed his ways. Now, he's ready to get her back and has hope that she's going to come home to him.

You should all read this! It was a short erotic novella with grovelling, second chance romance, a man who is so down bad for his love interest, a woman who knows what she wants and doesn't back down, and such good romantic scenes too.

I was in the mood for a novella with some steam and His Majesty delivered. Joshiah wants his second chance with Majesty and after being apart for six months he man up and listens to her. This story was ok. Nothing deep but with some great steam. Majesty is a very sensual and vocal woman and I liked that. I’ll continue with this series of novellas cause they’re a good palate cleanser.

Summary:

Six months missing Majesty, Josiah sees her for all she's worth and will do anything to win her back. Including--*gasp*--listening to her and learning her love language.

Review:

Short, sweet, and steamy. This was such mature romance!! The needs being heard, the boundaries being respected, the COMMUNICATION!!! I also loved that we jump into a story where it's clear that the characters have vibrant lives and personalities beyond what we see in the novella. Will definitely be reading on in the series.

This was so short yet so good, Josiah is my kind of guy for sure yes ma’am! He does not play about Majesty. I genuinely understood Majesty’s reasons for leaving him, and watching him grovel was too good. This definitely made me want to read the books in this series back to back. As short as this was, it’s one of those novellas that does not read like one, I wanted more! I’m soo excited for the next novel!!

Josiah was everything! A little brutish, kind of rude, a little toxic but he was willing to go to the ends of the earth for Majesty. Adding to the bookbae list expeditiously cause I need EVERYTHING he was offering. Bills paid, hair and nails done consistently, with a mean back stroke... please and thanks lol.
Together they were good. Chemistry off the chain, I mean hot!! Despite that Majesty wanted all of her needs met. I wasn't mad at her, because women we often sacrifice or adjust for our men and it was nice to see her request what she needed. She stood firm on it too. This was too sweet as they decided if they would stay together or let each other go.

It was a quick sexy read. I'm not a fan of the casual use of the N-word, every time it was used it took away from my enjoyment. If you don't mind that dialog and are looking for a quick sexy read then you may enjoy this slice of life.

Hot and quick. Second chance at love. That said, this is quick. It’s hot. There’s a small bit of grovel, but other than that it’s just a quickie. If you’re looking for something you can read in an hour or two, this is it!

Whew! I could feel the passion between the pages with these two, although Majesty was mad as hell!😂 Gotta give it up to a woman to walk away when she knows she deserves better! Although her love for Josiah was fierce, she loved herself more, so she left when the relationship no longer served her! Josiah was not trying to hear that noise! This novelette was less than 100 pages, but somehow delivered a full story! Majesty and Josiah dated for several years before she dumped him. She was looking for more romance and wooing, and he wasn't hearing it at the time. All it took was seeing her out on a date with another man six months later for him to really wake up and realize what he's been missing.

This was a sexy but sweet second chance romance between two people who obviously loved each other, and were able to get over a rough patch after some time apart! I already have the next novella downloaded!

As a lover of second chance romances, this did not work for me.
The romance was not believable, and the writing style, overall tone, and smut were not my cup of tea.

Majesty and Josiah dated for three years and have been broken up for six months because Majesty believed she wasn’t getting what she deserved, since Josiah is not the romantic type (no “cute shit”, dates, flowers, etc. (but he does pay for everything including all of her nail and hair appointments while they haven’t been dating for the 6 months)), although she did know this going into the relationship so why did it take her three years to stand up for herself AND THEN to have the audacity to be the one to break things off, yet still ask to be fuck buddies? You can’t have it both ways, girl.

He was rude af for dragging her away from her date just because they chose to dine at the establishment beside his bar.

Plot points didn’t add up and they resolved their conflict too easily. I can’t see them lasting. What I can see is them going back to their previous cycle of being bought material things, fucking, being too tired to have a conversation, and so forth.

They might have physical chemistry but the compatibility long term just isn’t believable.
