Think you know all there is to know about angels? Well, you’re wrong. So, so wrong…

Lane Hunter was always different. But since she was raised by vampires and taught to hunt demons for Section 8 alongside magical misfits who are just as weird as she is, it was never really a problem.

Until the angel showed up.

Lucien was on a hunting mission when he found his prey—her. See, she's a Nephilim, a heavenly abomination, and he’s supposed to destroy her.

But he can’t.

Maybe it’s the lure of forbidden romance. Or maybe it’s more…fated than that. Whatever the reason, Lucien is as drawn to Lane as she is to him, and they need each other in a big way.

So now, all they have to do is prove to Heaven that Lane’s not a threat to, well, everyone, and find a way to stop Lucien’s archangel bosses from smiting him for insubordination.

But when that’s all done, they can claim their happily ever after…right?

Semi-Fallen, book 9 in the Harper Hall Investigations series, is a snarky, light-hearted, paranormal romance that can be read as a standalone, but definitely works better when read as part of the series. It features a strong heroine, a somewhat emotionally befuddled but super protective hero, a magical tattoo, and an entire crew of sometimes hilarious magical misfits. Happy reading!

The normal:

Isabel Jordan writes because it’s the only profession that allows her to express her natural sarcasm and not be fired. She is a paranormal and contemporary romance author. Isabel lives in the US with her husband, her son son, a neurotic Shepherd mix and a ginormous Great Dane mix named Jerkface. (Don't feel bad for Jerkface. He really is a jerk.)

The weird:

Now that the normal stuff is out of the way, here’s some weird-but-true facts that would never come up in polite conversation. Isabel Jordan:

1. Is terrified of butterflies (don’t judge…it’s a real phobia called lepidopterophobia)
2. Is a lover of all things ironic (hence the butterfly on the first edition cover of Semi-Charmed)
3. Is obsessed with Supernatural, Game of Thrones, and Dog Whisperer.
4. Hates coffee. Drinks a Diet Mountain Dew every morning.
5. Will argue to the death that Pretty in Pink ended all wrong. (Seriously, she ends up with the guy who was embarrassed to be seen with her and not the nice guy who loved her all along? That would never fly in the world of romance novels.)
6. Would eat Mexican food every day, if given the choice.
7. Reads two books a week in varied genres.
8. Refers to her Kindle as “the precious”.
9. Thinks puppy breath is one of the best smells in the world.
10. Is a social media idgit. (Her husband had to explain to her last week what the point of Twitter was. She’s still a little fuzzy on what Instagram and Pinterest do.)
11. Kicks ass at Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon.
12. Stole her tagline idea from her son. Her tagline idea was, “Never wrong, not quite right.” She liked her son’s idea better.
13. Breaks one vacuum cleaner a year because she ignores standard maintenance procedures (Really, you’re supposed to empty the canister every time you vacuum? Does that seem excessive to anyone else?)
14. Is still mad at the WB network for cancelling Angel in 2004.
15. Can’t find her way from her bed to her bathroom without her glasses, but refused eye surgery, even when someone else offered to pay. (They lost her at “eye flap”. Seriously, look it up. Scary stuff.)

Confession - I love the Harper Hall series (and everything else Isabel Jordan has written). The latest installment, which is Lane's story, did not disappoint! Lane and her best friend Haven are all grown up (how time flies!). While the next generation takes center stage, the whole gang is on hand as we learn about Lane's history and the source of her powers thanks to a sexy angel. My only MINOR complaint is that the book was too short! It would've been great to spend more time with my favorite characters. If you love snarky, badass heroines who can't resist a good pop culture reference, then you should check out the series, starting with "Semi-Charmed."

It's so good, y'all. If you're a fan of this series, you'll soon know what I'm talking about. If this is a new-to-you series, I suggest you get yourself over to book 1 (which is free) and get started. Semi-Charmed You can thank me later. :)

what a series!

I read all 9 books one after the other. I just couldn’t wait to see what came next. I love this series, all the books are stand alone, but so much better in order. It has great characters, snickers and snark and lots of alpha women (and men) having crazy adventurous lives. It’s truly wow!

Grab the popcorn!

I love the Harper Hall books because they are just plain fun! Sarcastic, pop-culture obsessed, and totally irreverent: what’s not to love? In this one we’re defying Heaven and finding out that it’s like any bureaucracy: the bosses all assume the daft orders came from the top…

Great Read

As always this series does not disappoint. I love how all the characters are included in every story. Would have liked a little more of the Harper humor I'm used to but still loved it.

Fantastic!!

Hell hath no fury like a wronged nephillim. Every book just gets better. From fighting demons to archangels this gang is family and still snarky and dangerous! Can't wait for the next adventure!!

good

The cast is all here. It’s the next generation’s time to find mates. The standard mismatched pair who find HEA. It felt short but was entertaining.
