Jes Anderson is finally dating someone. Sure, her boyfriend Seth Thomas is technically an incubus and his crazy succubus sister Lily kidnapped Jes’ best friend Amanda but hey—sometimes you have to take your wins where you can. Jes is still having nightmares, though instead of fire they mostly seem to involve stabbing. But Jes is headed to college now and she’s ready to move past the insanity and move forward with her relationship. She’s planning on relaxing and settling back into some semblance of a routine. First her school year is not quite as relaxing as she'd anticipated. Her roommate is...quirky, to say the least. Her RA has a complicated relationship with the rules, and an even more complicated relationship with some guy. Her boyfriend suddenly starts acting distant—oh yeah, and then there’s the little thing where Jes starts seeing things nobody else can. There’s also classes to go to. OK. College might be a little harder than she thought.
Ezra has always enjoyed writing, probably more than his teachers would have cared for after the Animal Farm meets Warhammer 40k short story he turned in during high school. He continued doing things like that until he finally sat down and wrote a paranormal romance novel, Ignition, self-publishing it in 2012, followed by two sequels in the years to come and a mystery novel after that.
Character drives all of Ezra’s stories. He’s a firm believer in flawed, nuanced characters that may make you laugh, cry or curse them out but will never feel false.
After paranormal romance and creepy murder mystery, Ezra has turned his keyboard to a grounded (mostly) fantasy novel following a snarky witch who is an absolute mess.
Ezra is currently seeking a literary agent. If you are one or know one who might appreciate his work, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
This book was really really good. It was a great follow up to book 1. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is Seth and Jes relationship. In book 1 I wanted them together so bad. At end of book 1 it happened yay! But instead of book 2 starting with them super happy and seeing them as a couple they had trouble throughout the whole book. Actions didn't match up to words and I just wanted to see them grow a little before the problems start because to me it seems like all this book and the last Jes was going after Seth, and he was never really the same with her. So when he does something dumb I am not too shocked because he never appeared to be as into her as she is to him. But then he makes comments like I have never felt this way but it is hard to get that because I don't get that he feels that strongly towards her. Then at the end it was shocking because I never got that vibe from him by his actions.
The storyline with Lily in her head and why was interesting. The writing great. I love these book!
Her roommate Ae-Sook is new in this book and I am not sure how I like her yet. I love Mike but not with Ae-Sook and her RA Caitlin is cool too. I love her family so much all of them. I love when she is home because I just can't get enough of them!
I finished this last night and it's bugging me. I'm not sure exactly what's bothering me but I'm going to say the authoe tried to hard with the whole cast of characters. The flirting, the innuendo, the witty, sarcastic remarks were way to much. No one seemed genuine. Don't even get me started on the "romance". I've read so many of these types of books that I was truly disappointed that the lead character was made to look so naive and blind to a male that from my stand point didn't really like her. There was no chemistry and when they were together it seemed forced. The letter he sends at the end through me for a loop because you could not tell he had any feelings for her at all in this book. Very disappointed. Jes always seemed to make the wrong choices and everyone was to worried about sounding tough and cool to even really form any strong bonds. Pretty much everyone in the book was an a@%hole. I will read the next book if there is one and hope that this all gets straightened out and I can start to feel a real connection between characters that are supposed to care about each other. Even in the first book the love interest on the male part really didn't seem to like her all that much. Very strange.
