Ex-SEAL, Special Agent Rafe Dallas spent years working for the DOJ after his medical discharge. Now, he's joined a special Task Force fighting crimes against children. After successfully completing his first operation, Rafe is determined to give everything he has to save as many children as he can.
After learning about the tragic death of his Navy SEAL buddy, John, he promises to look after the man’s younger brother and do what he can to help find his daughter.
Finley Quinn is working undercover at a human trafficking ring trying to find his niece. He was set to join the SEALS eighteen months ago, following in his older brother’s footsteps, when John was killed in a home invasion and his six-year-old daughter was kidnapped. He has been looking for her ever since. The local police believe she's dead but Finley won't consider that possibility and refuses to give up.
When Rafe joins him undercover, Finley is hard pressed not to remember the huge crush he had on the sexy older man.
Will they save Finley’s niece before it’s too late? Will Rafe ever see Finley as more than his best friend’s kid brother?
I’m so glad I did not give up on this series, although I hate that all the bad guys get killed instead of suffering in prison slowly paying for their sins. On to the next case 😀
The bones of this book are good. Unrealistic, but it’s fiction and realism isn’t necessary.
There are definitely things that could be done to polish this story up and push it to the next level. For me, the biggest issue was the relationship between Fin and Rafe. It is instalove to a degree, but there is zero buildup or any kind of connection that can be felt outside of physical chemistry. They jump in the sack, play the “I’m not gonna touch you again” game, then it’s HEA time. Say what? 🙈 Other issues are the extreme vagueness surrounding how the task force works. I’d like to see some of those behind the scenes moments. How do they take the information from their undercover agents and make the connections to reach the goal?
There is so much potential in this series for some excellent world building and even that found family vibe. This book misses the mark, but that’s something that can absolutely be improved in future books. I’d love to know more about how this organization came to be, more about the supporting cast that we barely see in this book.
If you like your books to have that episodic tv feel, where everything is tied up nicely in 43 minutes, then this one is right up your alley. If you’re looking for a book that will keep you entertained for awhile, this just might fit the bill for you. I’ll probably read more in the series, because I’m curious to learn more about this child saving organization. There is no nobler cause in my opinion.
Child trafficking is a very difficult topic to address in any genre. The characters in this book are tough enough to handle it, but I find there are a number of disturbing problems. Finley is so tough, he has supposedly killed 19 men in a fight to the death among the people in the child trafficking ring. He has buried 50 people, mostly children. Frankly more disturbing than those facts is how blithely Eve Riley treats this information. But Finley, with these unsettling events in his past, lets another man push him out of the way at the coffee pot and call him a bitch? Please. Rafe stays in character throughout the book but too much is lost in the Finley confusion.

Likes: -The romantic leads value children. - No cliffhangers - HEA
Dislikes: -Some consent issues arise. There is No discussion about protection, STDs, negative tests, or boundaries prior to intimacy. No consent is asked or given prior to the initial intimate encounter. No consent is given for unhygienic interactions. No consent is given for breath-play, which absolutely does not work the way it’s illustrated. No consent is given for potential internal bruising or tearing due to rough handling. Fin doesn’t object, but it’s clear from his background that he had an abusive Dom initiate him into BDSM, which isn’t really his thing. He didn’t say no to that either, despite not really being into it. After learning about that experience, Rafe still fails to have a conversation with Fin about being a submissive, his sexual boundaries, and consent. If Fin fails to object to some behavior he doesn’t like because he wants to keep the relationship with Rafe, that still isn’t consent. Also, Rafe is not a trained Dom and he is not trained on the anatomy of the throat, which is important because breath-play can lead to throat injury and brain damage over time (even if it appears that the person can breathe in a limited fashion as illustrated in the book). This is a very unsafe script to imitate.
-Arousal is Not consent. The author takes time to assure the reader that the dominant partner, Rafe, reads body language well and therefore receives non-verbal consent from his sub, Fin, via signs of physical arousal in real time, which may explain the lack of a conversation about consent. However, Rafe does not have ESP and cannot read his partner’s mind. Therefore, Rafe had no conversation ahead of time about boundaries or to set up nonverbal signals, which mean Fin can consciously consent as Rafe introduces different things into the intimate interaction. That means, to model a safe script for intimacy, Rafe needs to use words to communicate and ask if what he’s doing feels good, while avoiding choking his partner so Fin can give him verbal feedback to signify or withhold consent in real time. It would at the very least allow Rafe to ensure that casual intimacy doesn’t turn into rape of a submissive partner he hasn’t taken the time to discuss boundaries with ahead of time.
Otherwise, the story is mainly a crime and adventure tale that is reasonably well written. There is a surprise twist at the end to prevent the reader from guessing what will happen using the evidence presented in the book, so that is why I think this is more of an adventure story than a mystery. If the consent issues were removed, this would be a 4 star book because the detailed research into mental health issues and cultural milieu. As it stands, this romance repeats some typical consent violation mistakes, like many other books in the genre, and thus remains average. I liked the first book better.
I like what the author is trying to do with this series. I read book 3 first for an ARC and then read books 1 and 2. Book 3 is definitely the most enjoyable. The storyline is the best and most believable.
All the books in this series depart from reality in how police work really works. However, the worst of it was in book 1 when 6 guys infiltrated a cartel in Mexico with something like 50 armed men to drag out the bad guy they were after. Those six guys would have ended up dead. There were two greenish police detectives that pretty much had only done practice raids, a sniper who probably wouldn't have found a window to shoot through to save the day as he did, Mason and one other guy who are career feds, and then Rafe with a military background. They needed a huge team. There is a raid in this book that is a watered down version of that, which is the most unbelievable part of this book. Or one of the most unbelievable parts.
This book is the steamiest of the 3 in the series so far. I didn't care for the location of one of their scenes as I would have wanted to puke instead of get sexy. Finley was trying to distract Rafe, but I don't think anyone could have managed an interest in sex in that situation unless they were one of the sickos our team was trying to take down.
I feel like Finley and Rafe were more dimensional as characters than Jarod was. There is less of a power difference between them.
One of the best parts of these books is the pace is excellent. They definitely could be longer, though. If they were longer, had more details to the investigation, and had better editing and some polishing, they could be pretty good books. They are at least different than most M/M books I read.
There are a number of editing issues. Lots of misused personal pronouns. Some strange comma usage. In book 3, she starts using the word "then" instead of "than" in some places. She also uses the word "then" more than is needed. She also could throw out the phrase "went and." For example, those two words need to be removed from sentences like "he went and sat down." Just say, "he sat down." While a lot of it isn't technically inaccurate, it isn't mature writing.
I really hope the author takes some feedback from these first three books, puts a little more into research, and finds a better editor before book 4. I think she has potential to be a pretty great writer.
I recommend the series but only because it is improving. If all the books were like book 1, I wouldn't.
Rafe has just started to find himself and his place in the Task Force after a helicopter crash ended his military career prematurely. He is driven to help people, especially children, who are victims of crimes. But in pursuit of finding meaning in his life and new job, he has lost contact with his old friends. Finn is working his way through the ranks in the Navy and has just been accepted to BUDS. He cannot wait to join the SEAL team and serve with his heroic older brother. And then it all goes wrong. Rafe's best friend is Finn's older brother, and he and his wife have been murdered and Finn's niece kidnapped by traffickers. Both are determined to get the little girl back and take down the ring of criminals causing so much pain and terror to the helpless children.
Rafe and Finn's story had a much different flavor than Mason's in book one of this series. It is much grittier than its predecessor and goes into more detail about the horrific crimes perpetrated against the kidnapped children. But despite the added darkness, the story and characters make this book well worth the read.
However, I found the build up to the beginning of their relationship a bit contrived and too easy. There was very little expressed interest of Rafe's part, and then it exploded all over their room in a fireball of drunken passion. I would have liked to see more development prior to the culmination, I guess. I also would have liked to have seen more of the puzzle solving of where all the branches of the trafficking ring were located, the organization's structure, and how they found who they believed to the the kingpin of it all. That is the trouble with limited third person. However, even just a chapter from Mason's point of view would have made the answers feel like they were an actual challenge to come by. Yes, Ryzen says that their hacker had to decode the cypher. . . but Ryzen is not one to elaborate so the reader gets the impression that is was a walk in the park to crack. It took work for the team on the outside to accomplish what they did, and I would have liked to get a glimpse of that as they strived to save all the kidnapped kids.
I have enjoyed this series so far, and am looking forward to enjoying the story of the reticent sniper next!

Trigger Warnings: Child sex assault (off page but strongly inferred), PTSD, human trafficking, violence, homophobia, misogyny, mild BDSM
I love the premise behind this book. Alpha males, law/military types that for many reasons have had to leave their chosen careers. Now they have the chance to help form an elite task force whose mission is to find and bring justice to those who harm children. The kicker? Our heroes are hot, gay men. If you love spicy m/m romance then this is the book for you.
Rafe, our title character, learns of the brutal murder of his best friend. At the same time he finds that his former Army buddies younger brother has gone undercover within the human trafficking group that stole his niece. This story is filled with action and more than once I was brought to tears at the pain and despair our heroes suffer as they are going deep undercover into the disturbing world of child trafficking. Rafe immediately finds himself conflicted at being attracted to his friends little brother but their close quarters lead to some seriously steamy scenes. This is book 2 in a series and while you don't have to read book 1 I would highly recommend it.
This story is great but if you are bothered by grammatical and spelling errors then consider this your warning as unfortunately there are quite a few in these pages. That is the only reason I did not rate this 4 stars. Occasionally the writing comes across as too formal but for the most part I was pleased with this book and it was never enough to pull me out of the story.
I received an advance review copy for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.
I read this book because I had already read the first book and wanted to explore the lives of the other men in this team. It also checks the box of one of my favorite tropes-military/LEO-but I struggled to really enjoy it.
The author skates along the world of human trafficking in this book. She discusses it enough to make the story, but not is a gratuitous way.
This is the second book in this Federal Protection Agency series and my issues with Rafe are the same as when I read Mason. While I am all for suspending reality and enjoying a book it is hard to overlook factual inaccuracy that are a result of lazy research. I have no issue with the fictitious federal agency…because it is exact that, but why couldn’t the author extend due diligence when deciding to write about real life places and professions? For example she refers to Junior Naval Officers as Privates…a simple google search would tell you they are Ensigns. Then her constant referral to Gaithersburg, MD as a podunk town when it is a large bedroom community of Washington, DC. These may be little things, but really…Google!!!
Other things I did not like…there was a lot of repetition regarding the time frame of the story…there were eighteen and nineteen months appear 35 and 11 times respectively.
Lastly, I am not sure why but I get the impression the author is setting up a heteronormative dynamic between the main character…it is probably a trope, so I will let that go.
But it was far from all bad. The story line is very creative and overall it is well written. I enjoy the characters and the interaction between the men in the book.
Ex-SEAL, Special Agent Rafe Dallas spent years working for the DOJ after his medical discharge. Now, he's joined a special Task Force fighting crimes against children and after their first successful operation, he is determined to give everything he has to save as many children as he can. then he finds out about the tragic death of his Navy SEAL buddy, John, he promises to look after the man’s younger brother and do what he can to help find his daughter. Finley Quinn is working undercover at a human trafficking ring trying to find his niece. Eighteen months earlier she was set to join the SEALs and follow his older brother's footsteps but then his brother was killed and his six-year-old niece kidnapped. He has been looking for her ever since especially as the local police think she is dead but there isn't a body so he will not give up. When Rafe joins him undercover, Finley is reminded of the huge crush he had on the sexy older man. Will they save Finley’s niece before it’s too late? Will Rafe ever see Finley as more than his best friend’s kid brother?
This was a dramatic story as Finley tried to find his niece and then Rafe and the rest of the organisation joined him in his hunt for her. The background mention of the abuse of the children was heartbreaking but I was impressed with their determination to find out as much as they could as part of looking for her. Their relationship started with something just physical but there were already feelings there so they just needed time to work it all out. Easy to read, feel and understand. This is an MM story with mature content. Please take note of the content warning in the book description.
Triggers do apply: murder, violence and child abduction, child trafficking, enslavement and abuse.
This second book in the 'Federal Protection Agency' and has a way higher pace and feels to ne more intense than the first book. This was an emotional and intense read. I was really invested in the story and notices I wanted to hurt or prosecute the people who took advantage of the children and those who enabled that. I was keeping my fingers crossed there would be 'good' news at the end of the story. Finn reached out to Rafe when in his quest to find his kidnapped niece in a child trafficking ring, he almost fell of the proverbial cliff. Rafe did not know where Fin was or why, after he finds out what happened, he and the task force join Fin in his fight for his niece and all the other children who are held or have died. Rafe and Fin find support, release and (sexual) attraction whilst undercover. I did notice the author mentioned almost in passing how many men Fin had killed and how many children he had to bury who were killed or died by the hand of others. It seems excessive but luckily I have no knowledge if it is or not and maybe it was best written this way because it shows disconnected he had to become to stay undercover. Rafe, Fin and Lily do survive, but after the physical healing there is a long mental road to cope with all that happened. I can't wait to see how the series will develop further now that the agency will move to a larger city.
I recieved a free copy of this book via Booksprout (LGBTQ+ Romance Books) and I am voluntarily leaving my personal review.

I really enjoyed this book and thought that it was a good addition to the Federal Protection Agency Series. This book covers a lot of heavy topics so please take note of the trigger warnings. My heart broke for Finley when he came home from his last mission to spend some down time with his brother John, his sister in law Darla and the light of his life, his 5 year old niece Lilly to walk in and find out that both John and Darla have been murdered and Lilly has been taken.
In the 18 months since he’s been undercover in the child trafficking ring to try and find Lilly and make sure all those involved in the ring are brought to justice. As soon as Rafe finds out what happened to John, Darla and Lilly, and that Finley has spent the last 18 months undercover by himself trying to find Lilly, he knows that he’s going to go in as well with some outside help from the rest of his team, the Federal Protection Agency to make sure Finley has the backup he needs.
The longer they spend undercover lines start to blur and feelings surface, even though Rafe tries to push his down since Finley is John’s little brother but Finely tells him that he’s a grown man and don’t use his brother as an excuse. I thought that their chemistry was completely off the charts and I liked how their relatinship progressed. I’m looking forward to reading Ryzen next, as well as more books from Evie Riley in the future. I’d recommend this book and author to others.
This was a really engaging second book in the series that I enjoyed from start to finish. There was a lot of action throughout but it felt well paced and kept me hooked. This book follows Rafe and his best friend's younger brother Finley as they work undercover to find Fin's missing niece who has been kidnapped. I liked how seamlessly they fitted together; there was no posturing, it was supportive and well thought out. There were definitely some steamy moments between the pair of them, however these fit in at the right times without overshadowing the seriousness of their mission. Finley was such a sweetheart and it was clear that he was too good and kind for undercover work- that's why the ending to the book made me so happy. I loved how protective Rafe was too and I've been left looking forward to book 3 in the series. I'm definitely intrigued by Ryzen so I think that book 3 will certainly unravel a few mysteries too!
Overall, this is a good MM action/romance book with a HEA. I would recommend reading book 1 first to have more of an idea about the task force and wider secondary characters but it's not essential for enjoying this storyline. This is a book with a powerful drive to right some serious wrongs and I can't wait for more.
This is the second book in Eve Riley's "Federal Protection Agency" series.
"How could I not know ? why has no one told me ?
Ex navy SEAL and now working for the special task force, special agent Rafe Dallas was devastated to hear of the death of his best friend and his wife and even more distraught to find that their six year old daughter, Lilly, had been kidnapped. Rafe had promised his best friend and ex SEAL buddy that if anything ever happened to him and his wife that he would look after his daughter and his younger brother Finley.
Finley had joined the navy and was about to start his BUDs training when his brother and sister in law were murdered, and his beloved niece kidnapped, he was determined to find Lilly and he had gone undercover working with a child trafficking cartel to do just that…..he wasn't having much success.
Rafe was determined to keep his promise to John and so, with the team behind him for backup, he went to join Finley undercover.
This story follows the journey of Rafe and Finley as they strive to bring down a well concealed and dangerous cartel and rescue Lilly, and also the emotional attraction that grows between Rafe and Finley.
There are many triggers in this book, kidnapping, child abuse, murder of children but despite that, this is a good story.
I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary.
My Review I received a copy from BookSirens. The book is already out. Trigger warnings Violence, Profanity, and Abuse. Finley ‘Fin’ Quinn was on track to follow in his bother’s footsteps and become a SEAL, but then his world comes crashing down when his brother and sister-in-law are killed and his niece was taken into a trafficking ring. Now instead of joining the SEALS, he’s uncover desperately hoping to find his niece. Enter Rafe. Fin’s bother John was his best friend. We met Rafe briefly in book one of the series. When he learns of John’s death and that Finn’s undercover, he gets the special Task Force fighting crimes against children he’s now a part of to take the case and joins Finn undercover. This novella hits hard for me. Any book that deals with child abuse is a little hard for me because children deserve to be protected. Like the first book, Rafe, focuses on the case and made me feel like I was right there tagging along. The characters are real and raw and that’s what made me love this book. There is just enough steam to make me smile. I will definitely continue reading books by Eve Riley and I can’t wait to read Federal Protection Agency: Book 3. Until next time peace and happy reading.
Loads of action here right from the first chapter! From the blurb we learn that Fin is searching for his brother’s daughter, Lilly, and gets the help of his brother’s best friend, Rafe. Goodness, I don’t know if these two could be any hotter - individually and together!
Fin is a bit softer and less-confrontational - even though he can fight when required, he would prefer not to. And Rafe has a built-in protector mode that comes to life around Fin. They have fantastic chemistry and while it’s a bit quick for them to fall in love, it works here because they are relying on each other in a high-pressure situation. The two work together undercover in a child trafficking ring to find Lilly, and ultimately bring it down.
This story is intense - has real triggers of child trafficking so steer clear of that will be difficult to read - but it’s well-written and moved quickly. I enjoyed this story, it’s characters, and the HEA at the end is nicely done. I recommend this book and will continue with the series!.

I love this book from start to finish. It is a page Turner, suspenseful, loving, adventurous book just to say name a few. When John and Darla Quinn one murdered and their daughter was kidnapped. John's brother Finley moved heaven and Earth to find her. He found to do whatever it took to get her back and bring down the people who had murdered his brother and sister-in-law and kidnapped his niece. I also loved the dynamic between Rafe and Finley. This book shows that you will walk through fire to help anyone you love no matter what it cost you. It also shows that when you truly love someone you will be there and go through whatever they go through with them no matter what it cost you. I personally love and love like that because then you know it's real and it's not fake. I would recommend this book to any adult that wants to read a page Turner and a very good story. As the author has said this book is intended for adults only because of the very intimate details and sexual content. I will read more books by this author and I hope everyone will show her love and support to keep her writing. I hope this helps anyone looking for a good one book to read.
Rafe is an ex-Navy SEAL working with a group of men to fight crimes against children. Finley is also ex-Navy, and he has gone undercover in a child trafficking organization to hunt for his niece Lilly, kidnapped 18 months before on the same night Fin’s brother John and his sister-in-law were killed. John was Rafe’s best friend, and upon learning of John’s death 18 months ago and Fin undercover, he takes the case to his team. Once the team agrees to take the case, Rafe goes undercover with Fin to continue the search for Lilly. Working with the traffickers is extremely difficult, but since it is the only chance to find her, both are willing to do whatever is necessary for as long as needed to achieve their goal.
This is a story that had me unable to put it down, on the edge of my seat a few times, and very invested in the characters. Thinking about the children caught up in trafficking is heart-wrenching, and I certainly hope there is a Federal group or task force dedicated to stopping it. Not a long read but definitely a good one. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is book #2 of the Federal Protection Agency series. The book was extremely engaging and I devoured the pages in short order. The plot itself was a bit disturbing though it did not get graphic at any point. Love for his niece takes Fin undercover with no support to locate and hopefully rescue Lilly, a 5 year old that was taken when her parents were brutally murdered. Enter Rafe, a family friend working on the task force who joins forces with Fin to try to bring Lilly home. The story moves fast, almost too fast at times. I would have liked a bit more detail in the overall story as the pieces just fell together quickly and too perfectly. Possibly a few dead-ends or mis-haps would have provided the angst that was missing from the story. Outside of the resolution coming too soon, it was a very good book. I look forward to reading additional installments in this series! I was provided a copy of this book by the author, and am leaving this review that reflects my opinion of the book voluntarily.
Intriguing M/M romance; age-gap; friends to lovers This was my first foray into the Federal Protection Agency series and reading Eve Riley. The story had me from the beginning when Fin’s 5yo niece is abducted and presumably put into the sex trade via human trafficking. The topic is appalling but unfortunately very current. I loved the storyline and the author’s characters became quite real as I read this book. There were several words missing throughout but I’m hoping that gets corrected in the published book. Overall, this was an intriguing story. There is a surprise at the end which was a nice touch. Do they find Lilly? Do both guys survive? There will be several steamy intimate scenes between Rafe and Finley. I do wish that there were straight couples included in the FPA to make it more believable. It appears that the ones introduced thus far are all gay men with which I have no problem. It just wouldn’t happen in reality. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book through BookSirens.
Well done! Rafe, medically retired SEAL, worked in DOJ going after dirtyy agents. He was getting bored when he was asked to be part part of the Task Force fighting crimes against children. John is a SEAL and Rafe's friend. He lives with his wife Darla and their daughter, Lilly. John, was a SEAL and his team was ready to welcome Finley when he passed BUDS. Lilly, gave her mermaid doll Mizzie to Finn for good luck. Finn, returns stateside to John's house to find a horrific tragedy. 18 months later, Rafe finds out John and Darla are dead and Lilly was kidnapped 18 months prior and Finn has gone undercover looking for Lilly. Rafe volunteers to help Finn find Lilly. Is Lilly still alive? If so, how bad will her PTSD be? How close can she get to normal? Will Finn recover from the horror of the last 18 months of his life? Rafe and Finn form a good unit for the horrors they will encounter. Excellent story. Grabs the reader and doesn't let go until the end. Author did well. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in this series, “Federal Protection Agency”. This one is the 2nd one which was VERY GOOOOOOD!!! I devoured the book in no time! I had to know what happened and whether they got the bad guys! Would make for a great TV Movie series!!!! Lots of action going on and parts of it can be very heartbreaking! The series focuses on putting a stop to any human trafficking activities when it comes to children. If this is a trigger for you, please don’t read it.
The story focuses on Rafe, who was introduced to us in the first book had arrived home from a case to find out that his best friend John and wife were brutally murdered and their small daughter was taken about 8-9 months prior to him finding that out. Somehow he found out that John’s younger brother, Finley was undercover with the suspected human trafficking ring trying to find his niece. Somehow Rafe and Finley re-connected and Finley was able to bring Rafe into the ring to help him. That’s where I’m going to stop and have you pick up the book to read to find out. What happened!
In the second book of the series a child trafficking ring is showcased with an undercover ex navy seal who gets in over his head until he reaches out to his brothers best friend for help after not having contact for eight years…
I enjoyed the dynamic between Rafe and Finley as friends who go undercover to usurp the organisation and Kingpin of the human trafficking cartel that kidnapped Finley’s niece and killed his brother and sister in law.
They can’t do it alone and that is where the FPA of Mason’s lends a hand.
It has become too dark for both of them and this is where distractions come into play and unwanted feelings develop…
Their bedroom chemistry was off the charts and that is where their dynamic changes…
My only downer to the book is that although they are friends it still does not warrant them not using protection…
Other than that it has a good storyline, good character development and action scenes!
I look forward to Rayzen and Knox next!

I would dare to say that I liked this one more than the previous one (Mason) It was a little harder to focus on Rafe and Fin because most of the story happens while they're undercover and horrible things are happening around them, but I still really liked how it all came about between them.
I liked that Fin was clear with his feelings and let Rafe know, although Rafe wasn't ready at the time to accept his own feelings, but I think knowing Fin's feelings helped him a little bit to recognize his own and accept them.
Things to improve: again and as in the previous book, the characters repeated lines of internal dialogue word by word.
Another thing that happened in both books is the inconsistencies. There were some pieces of information which were mentioned on several occasions, but differed in some details that perhaps went unnoticed by the author and the editor. I wish they could check that out and fix it.
Anyways, I enjoyed the reading

Finely was heading home after finishing a mission. Before Finley was to start his new career as as SEAL he was looking forward to spending a few weeks with his brother and niece. Finley adores Lilly and thought of as his own. Upon arriving at his brothers he found a horrific sight. His brother and wife were murdered and Lilly was missing. Taking an honorable leave Finley goes undercover to find Lilly. He believes she was taken by sex traffickers.
Eighteen months had past when Rafe finds out about John, his wife, and Lilly. Knowing he needed to help Finley, he goes to his team with what he knows. Right away they go into action.
This book is disturbing, however, also an eye opener for me. Knowing trafficking exists in our world and knowing there are teams out there fighting to free these hopeless children. This is my first book by this author. I will definitely read more. There were a few errors, however, they didn't bother me. This book was realistic and well written.
This book was good. For me personally I didn’t love it. The story was good and I did enjoy the book. This is the first book I have read from Eve Riley and I thought it was interesting. The writing style was something I hadn’t really experienced and it did take me a while to get used to. As well as this I thought the story was slightly rushed. I do understand this written to be short but I really wished there was more focus on the characters and their relationship.
I really wanted to love the book. I thought the story was a great concept. But due to the blurb I thought there would be more angst or maybe some more struggles throughout their relationship. I don’t want to say their relationship was perfect- it clearly wasn’t- but I really wished they developed it a little more.
Overall the book was fast paced and I did enjoy it. I just think that the author could have developed the characters more. I also just think the writing style wasn’t for me.
Book two of the Federal Protection Agency series deals with quite a heavy topic again. This story is about human trafficking, child trafficking in particular. Finley's dedication to his niece (his late brother's daughter), his willingness to put himself in the company of humanity's most disgusting specimen is admirable. Close to his breaking point Finley gets reinforcement in the form of his late brother's best friend Rafe. There is chemistry right from the start but more important than that, Rafe is Fin's shoulder to lean on, his partner to share his pain with. Rafe is willing to go through hell with Finley in order to solve this case.
This book is action-packed, filled with heat, tenderness and lots of guys from book one. *** I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily ***
I had an ARC copy from a third party that I promised an honest review.
I managed to read this book in less than 24 hours. It was so riveting that I missed some sleep wanting to find out more.
The nature of the subject is that one cannot avoid some of what might be triggers for some people (pedophilia) but the good overcomes that by far.
The author has developed the plot well and manages to make going undercover seem both difficult and easy.
The Characters of Rafe and "Chris" were developed extremely well too. One can feel "Chris" is tired, less experienced but a caring "good" guy while Rafe has much more experience and much less affected by the horrors. Yet, the love between them is fully shown.
The book has a passage from the next book in the seeries - it seems to me that the series would make a good box set.
Rafe and Fin are wonderful characters that are so good together. They have a difficult mission to get Fin's niece back while working undercover. Definitely not a book for everyone if the subject is triggering, but a fantastic read none the less. I enjoyed watching their romance unfold, even while they weren't in a relationship but used each other to keep going. This is a second book for the series but it could be read alone as the rest of the team isn't has involved in this one as they're undercover so much of the book. At the same time, it is could to know the team that is behind him that we get to know in the first book.

As with book #1 Mason, you do have to suspend belief in the way the undercover investigation plays out. I would have been happy to do that had I felt the writing was better, this author has a good story going, but I really feel it could do with a good edit.
I liked the two main characters, Rafe and Finley and though I find the whole child abuse, and child trafficking scene abhorrent, I like to think there are people out there like Filey and Rafe and his team who are trying to save these children and shut down the people who are dealing in these crimes.
Please read the triggers before reading this series.

This book was intense. The characters were nicely outlined and very sexy together. Rafe is older and a friend of Finn's brother, who is murdered on the first page. Finn leaves the military to go undercover to find whoever kidnapped his 5-year-old niece. He almost doesn't make it several times. All this is horrible, so if you can't stomach torture and despicable monsters, don't read this. I am not sure the love story is enough to soften the mayhem. The two men are absolutely what the other needs, and they have a delightful ending to their story.
